Happy belated New Year everyone! I made a typo in this script and said the wrong study number, 3 instead of 4 when talking about a cut note, but it's a minor mistake so I'm not going to rerecord it. Huge thanks to the one and only RoyBatty for helping with this video and getting me interested in this vault to begin with. I hope you enjoy 🖤
No problem i bet it will be a fun video
I’m sorry but such a mistake is unforgivable and I will be unsubscribing and removing all my tributes and shrine decorations in your name
Welcome back bro!
Nice vid as always. The more of them I see, the more I appreciate these (mostly) amazing games. You've come a long way as a producer/editor as well. Keep it up, man.
You also said Vault 3 instead of 106 at the beginning.
That cut note would have been the only thing in the entire game, if not every fallout game, that actually explained to the player what the brain fungus actually was.
This place freaked me out tons as a teen first playing this game. I particularly found that one room that randomly appears upside-down very unsettling, as well as the whole empty atmosphere of the place. Even after killing the boss at the end, there's no resolution to the vault or anything. Creepy...
Huh, I never noticed a room going upside-down.
@@nathanlevesque7812 I believe you can only see it through a window, it's on the bottom floor and inverts on your way out after killing the boss
I even thought damn vault was haunted and bolted right outta Dodge after the apparitions of Amata.
I'm a 23 yr old man and this place freaked me out too
I think the vault door where There's no terminal vault door inside make sense. you won't want Insane people going outside the vault.
makes sense, because the survivor is still trapped inside the vault!
I remember playing this game back in 2008 and I got the official strategy guide for Christmas that same year. I scoured 106 like crazy trying to find that gas mask. I guess now I finally know why I never found it LOL
I'm so happy to read this because I looked for that gas mask for AGES as a child, and was convinced it had glitched through the floor or something -_-
@@NightHawk8291 I was pretty disappointed to find out later that it was just a renamed Raider mask. I thought it was an actual unique looking item.
AFAIK a lot of things in the game guide are inaccurate
Omfg I’m not alone
@@howaboutsomesoyfood the guide is just a reference to what the developers wanted to do, not what they actually accomplished in game.
I heard once Fallout 3 was designed to take place before fallout 1, but the devs wanted capital F Fallout stuff like the brotherhood and enclave, so, instead of taking place 50 years as designed, it was jury rigged to be 200 years later.
That would make the setting of Fallout 3 make way more sense
Yea I read that too. It’s definitely believable considering one of the first missions in the game is looting a supermarket for food
@@14TND88 nah, that makes sense. But the first clue is when Lucas Simms says Megaton has been around for “decades” and not 200 years.
@@LucyWest370 looting a 200 year old supermarket for food does not make sense
@@blinkyy1088 If it was 10 years, sure. Even 30 can still work, because I can believe "retro-futuristic fiction" having discovered even better ways of preserving food, and maybe there *really* weren't enough survivors to loot. But 200? Come on.
TriangleCity : Back in the Saddle
I always appreciate your Fallout content.
I really like your intro, it's soothing and I always like to listen to it in full. Really helps to set a chill atmosphere, perfect for your kind of Fallout videos
This is the first time I've seen anyone mention it and I really enjoy it aswell.
Weirdly, i think this vault being broken as hell makes it...better. it makes it feel crazy on a weirdly 4th fourth level. Would have loved to see more of that on purpose, kinda like eternal darkness. A great way to make a player really feel immersed in a situation that resembles insanity is to actively effect stuff that actually matters to the player
Another example of why the "200 years later" aspect of the timeline once you get to Fallout 3 doesn't work: how is there anyone still remaining in this vault at all if it fell apart centuries ago? Are we to assume based on their raider hairstyles that people wandered in through the open door and found fresh vault suits that they just put on and decided to hang out here despite the lack of supplies? Also why don't the Insane Survivors fight each other if they're all psycho? Is everyone in the place supposed to be a hallucination despite that you can loot corpses, did you really just pick up items off the floor?
Do you prefer New Vegas’ 45 hours of exposition detailing every exact event & consequence since before the Great War?
@@sirmount2636 Yes
@@sirmount2636 yes
@@ayysymmetrical9848 Most players don’t care. F3 & F4 did NUMBERS.
@@ThisBirdHasFlown Correct, I don’t nitpick. Stop looking for answers in a work of giant ants.
Wait, why are there still insane survivors in the vault two hundred years later?
I guess it would have made sense if the drugs had gotten worse the deeper you went into the vault, like the top floors have a functioning society of people who seem a bit....off, then the bottom floors are full of insane survivors or something. I guess it's part of Fallout 3's "cool idea but shallow inconsistent world building" problem.
@@cloudycolacorp It's really reflective of Fallout 3's central problem of focusing more on gimmicks for places that logical world building or player reactivity. There's loads of cool ideas that just aren't explored outside of a surface level.
@@Keyboardeater1 The vast majority of players didn’t examine it beyond that. That’s why Fallout 3 & 4 outsold New Vegas.
I heard the theory that Fallout 3 was planned to take place a few years/decades after the bombs but that was changed later in development. I have nothing to substantiate such a claim, just hearsay that seems to make sense
@@calebsmith6202 that would make alot of sense tho.
@@calebsmith6202 honestly the idea that Talon Company as the original antagonist would've been cool
The fact you can kill them could be a bug or feature honestly. I still remember walking though the vault and killing the visions not realising that it wasn’t a crazy vault dweller until I had done it. Put me on edge for the rest of the vault
"...which is fucking stupid" i love when you interject like this haha. great watch as always!
This vault had me freaking out so much. I figured whatever was in the air was gone, it was not
What an excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to put it together, we really appreciate it
I love the style of your videos, from the visuals while commentating to the soundtrack which is cleverly switched up in between segments of the video. Best Fallout related content I have came across in a while. Great work bro, keep ‘em coming
Fallout is my favourite game and I can't believe there is still more content glad I found this channel recently
These videos are the main reason I want a Fallout: New Vegas Remastered Directors cut and a Fallout 3 Remastered Directors cut
I had no issues going through Old Olney, Point Lookout but damn this Vault hit different. This was the only place in F3 where I genuinely felt scared.
The Dunwich building still freaks me the hell out
Ustilago has many similar effects to Ergot, which is used in the production of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LAD-25), colloquially referred to by its German acronym, LSD.
3:57 this part freaked me out more than anything else in the video
Good to see more material from
You sir
Always happy to see TriangleCity uploads
I love your videos, always super interesting. Happy 2022!
this vault was memorable to me so its pretty cool to see the cut content for this one. i remember thinking this place was pretty creepy, probably not helped by the fact that i had a glitch where charon just disappeared on me at some point and it reminded me of suspenseful scenes in movies where characters suddenly realize that they've lost who they're with and are alone now when theyre somewhere dangerous lol. anyway im glad youre doing fo3 content now.
Thanks for adding the Modoc theme back!
Im literally in love with you please never stop making content
Good work as always keep up grind I hope to see you covering future and possibly later games!
Always look forward to these videos
Awesome as always!
This is my favorite video yet.
02:20 everyone of ‘em has the exact same face with the only difference being their hairstyle
Gee almost reminds me of Skyrim’s Goldenglow estate where all the guards there scales with your level and they ALL have the same face with each other
Great video! Happy new year!!
My Man TriangleCity always gets me hyped when he uploads
I first went in Vault 106 after the main story with Fawkes following me, so the "boss fight" was pathetic, and I killed him so fast that the hallucinations were never triggered.
I just did a campaign in this vault with the Fallout 2d20 last week, it was pretty wild and fun. Great video!
What was the best moment of the session?
2:37 not as bad as the Gary’s who you can find having conversations with each other that’s recycled wastelander dialogue
Happy new years bro
Imagine if Bestheda kept the Fallout Bible around instead of binning it.
The contrast of the music and the content of the Vault is just *mwaahhh* perfecto.
Oh jeez, you're covering 3 now. Why haven't I been subbed this entire time? (I would spend all my time being sad about New Vegas and feeling bad for even owning one of the very PS3's that caused such a waste of genius material, that's why.)
I had a theory about Vault 106 that I don't know if I've shared anywhere.
I think the survivors of the Vault are actually sane, maybe immune or a built up tolerance.
My only real reasoning is that they aren't violent toward each other, like the terminals indicate they should be.
I think the story is that you enter the vault, and perceived then all as violent because of the gas.
Only backed up by the player having hallucinations, and as ai said before, I don't think there should be survivors if they were still under the influence of the gas.
would love a series of jank shit that only bethesda could make
This deserves more attention.
🖤🖤🖤
Dude I swear I remembered seeing the hallucination dad's working correctly on PS3 when I played through the first time back in 2008
great video!
Gotta love when you don't realize you're early! Great vid as always.
"Which is f*ck*ng stupid"
My sides haha
😂😂 I remember being younger and got stuck in dead money I gave up until my brother helped me. I remember being so mad I couldn't leave with the gold and my brother had to explain greed to me. Great way to experience the dlc. Born in 2001 so this was a childhood masterpiece (FOV)
I can't wait for more Fallout 3 cut content vids from you, keep your good work ^^
Nice video, may I make the recommendation of exploring the cut Brotherhood quest that objective was the reunification of the main group and the outcasts and how it was different from the lore event from Fallout 4.
He already has a video covering that
@@DarthNicky Thanks for pointing that out.
great video as per usual. Whats your intro music?
as someone who studies basidiomycota i found that note particularly interesting! especially the mycorrhizal component, that means they need plants to colonize and trade nutients , so what plant are they mycorrhizal with? Interesting
thanks for sharing!
That's a very interesting question since there's no plant life present 🤔
I just stumbled upon your channel and I must say, I’m very satisfied. Thanks for the video big guy.
Edit: Subscribed 👍
You can get the key on the shelf without console commands by rotating the camera in third person mode. It's the same trick you can use to loot Colonel Autumn and Liam Neeson after they die.
Seeing colour is actually a real thing known as synaesthesia
I'm sure you already knew about this but just as a fun fact in case anyone else wants to look it up or something
I don't know if it's just my copy but when I entered Vault 106 I did actually see father it works for me
4:30 "Which is fuckin stupid" made me laugh way to hard XD
That vaultboy thumbnail 😆

Plant
Spores
Good job Bethesda
When I played FO3 I recognized they all looked the same and just chocked it up to developer intention with the psychoactive drugs bring pumped into the vaults air
That's possible, but there's so many other issues that it makes me think it might've been unintentional. Impossible to say one way or the other without talking to whoever designed it, but I have no idea which developer(s) worked on it.
I remember getting the gas mask on the 360 version thank god for auto save
Always finding out how much was cut or not finished is really telling at how much bethesda didn't believe in its own products being well received. even thi NV in its janky cut up eventual release is Still seen as one of the out loved games by fans.
hey triangle city where ya get the music, cause i love it!
A lot of the music I use are game OSTs, like The Last Of Us, Fallout 1, 2 and NV, Mother 3, Majora's Mask, FTL, Perfect Dark, Mass Effect, etc. I also use music from artists like Zeeky Beats, Ross Budgen, HOME, Sextiles, etc.
It would be cool if someone made a mod that added all or most of the cut content back in.
I love Fallout, I really do... But Bethesda needs to get realistic about the world. 200+ years is a long time. Long enough for all the food to dissolve, radiation to dissipate from most places, and almost all wooden structures to fall apart. I want a super realistic world. The only things to survive should be plastics and certain metals, and there's a lot you can do with those materials
Idk why I thought it was so funny but 4:30 when you said the enemies could be the NPC is fucking stupid I just bursted out laughing
Love fallout 3 content
I never actually revisited this vault, it felt like very little reward in spite of the cool journey
Auch!!!
Another Vault, another missed opportunity!!!
And me, thinking that I've already visited it all!!!
I'm a bit late, huh. Thank you.
I get lost easily in most vaults , so add the psycho scenes and I am pretty frustrated and feeling trapped which works pretty well with the lore . Hate that place but I think it serves it's purpose .
Check your local map and remember the passageways.
@@luigimrlgaming9484 something I remember being confusing in 3 was the local maps don't distinguish between multiple floors of an interior space, so it can be confusing when things overlap
TriangleCity: **unloads a few dozen gatling rounds into Gary's head**
Gary: _"Haha, Gary!"_
2:48 This plays on the Xbox. For me atleast.
3:58 NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE
The funniest vault has to be 108. Hahaha gary! Exploring the dead vaults of the capital wasteland and the mojave is one of my favorite things to do in fallout.
Hey Triangle, I was wondering if you have covered the Great Khan that attacks the 188 Trading Post*? I think you have but I've talked with others about it but can't find it in your videos. I found this on xbox 360 console with DLCs. *edit
Wait really?
That's very interesting, not sure I've ever heard of that.
@@TriangleCity Yessir, no bullshit. I've only seen it happen once through hundreds of playthroughs. I can't tell you every detail of that exact playthrough but I know I was vilified with the Khans and part of the NCR. At the time I thought it was a really cool addition to have a Khan try and raid/assassinate me at the outpost because of my deeds and the general proximity of Red Rock Canyon. But I've never been able to recreate it.
What music did u use in the video as. Background music
I hope someone turns this into like a 2hr mod :0
NEW CONTENT AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It effects the Player as well I can’t tell if what I’m shooting at is real or part of the experiment.
5 bucks says that most of this was cit because it is extremely buggy.
I mean, if it is so buggy that Bethesda cuts it, then you know it would have been insane.
It's funny how long it takes for Fallout games to be released and yet time is still a factor as to not being able to implement content.
Could you also do a cut content of the other vaults too
I should have another cut vault video out next week! :)
@@TriangleCity noice
At 4:13 a ambient soundtrack plays. Anybody knows what it’s called?
Dream town.
Makeshift gas helmet +2 perception. The right Hat and glasses, +2 perception.
True, but the helmet would provide more defense!
12:15 can anyone please tell me what's the name of the track playing in the background?
It’s the ending slide theme from FNV
💛
Its kind of embarrassing that i haven't been in all of the vaults of fallout 3 lol
I really can't ever remember going through 106 at all
Would have been pretty funny if there was an ai that operated the filtration system named M.O.T.H.E.R.
This Rabbit Hole Is Eternal
I love vaults but when I started playing fallout 3 at 8 years old they scared the shit out of me I could only do them when my parents were around and if they weren't ain't mo way in hell I was going into a vault
They should have been random wastelanders raiders mercs ect
There was a boss fight?
Finally my favorite memories
I always had a faint theory that the survivors in Vault 106 were actually docile and used to the drugs and immune to them, or else they would have killed each other.
My theory is that the drugs affect the player more than we think and we perceived them as hostile even though they weren't.
I haven't done much research though, there could be something there that disproves it.
Vault 106 and the Gary vault are the most empty vaults in the whole series. They don't really add much to the story aside from "vault-tec bad, duh". They is no reason for Gary to exist, and 106 just gets you high on shrooms, which you can do with white bird at the narrows.
Yep, almost certainly due to most of the content being cut or not developed prior to the release of the game. New Vegas is even Wilder considering what they accomplished in 18 months.
In fairness the Gary vault indicates that fully cloning a human is possible in the setting which could be used by writers for some pretty neat stuff, they missed their opportunity with the Institute creating clones rather than androids which would justify the railroad and instead just used it to handwave a deathclaw reskin though
I watched a video where Todd Howard explained the Vault 108.
Basically one dude came up with the idea and after he recorded some lines they found it so ridiculous they included it.
I think it works best without any deep backstory. Just one guy named Gary who cloned himself and all the clones could say is Gary and would try to kill anyone who isn't Gary.
Vault 106 seems like a nice addition to the game, especially the hallucinations if you are lost finding your father and miss your home vault 101, but Gary doesn't make any sense at all.
Mindfuck vault got nerfed. Sad.
Gary?
tehre is a place on the local map that is unavaiable for player xd there is shadow on the map xd whats there? if its unavaiable for sure? and if these master keys are important ?
