I went straight pipe and got a headache the day after then removed it and put the stock muffler back. Now it has an aftermarket catback non resonated and valved as well.

My curiosity with going straight pipes is the interior noise? I do Lyft and Uber and don't want to piss my customers off. Some will love it, but older people who are tired and just want a nice quiet ride home are gonna hate my guts.

I have a question. I have the same exhaust setup and sounds similar to this but during 2k rpm - 3k rpm it sounds like a loud trumpet metal sound while accelerating normally for daily driving but goes away after 3k rpm. This happens in all gears. Did this happen for this car as well?
Happens to every single GTI straight piped. You'll need a vibrant resonator to get rid of it. The long one not the little can. I tried that and it took the edge of but was still pretty bad. Now I'm running the big one, 3.5" all the way back from the DP to a single exit, sounds perfect.

Ouch, I don't even know if there is a point to this video since it's so loud the microphone is probably not going to do it justice. If you get the settings right I know you can record loud things like my bike which was insanely loud before I put the DB killer in.

How did you blow the gti up? How much did it cost going from stage 1 apr to stage 2?? Does stage 2 apr tune remove the 4k rev limiter in neutral???

I have the base golf mk7 and this sounds exactly like mine does... except a little better and I'm thinking because you got a split system, whereas I just used a single 2.5" pipe from the 3" ARM downpipe I have. Loud as fuck and awesome backfires 😮😂

I want to know how did he get rid of rev limiter at a complete stop. Normally only allows you to free rev to 4k rpm
press the brake, put the shifter in between park and reverse and rev it but keep your other foot still on the brake. only works if you have dsg

Ghost Murder what year is your car? Spending that much is a bit much but I mean hey go for it but there are better options for a good exhaust set up.
if you just want to be absurdly loud get a catless down pipe for 300 bucks then have a shop remove the resonator and muffler. if you have 1-2k that you NEED to spend, get a tune and upgrade the clutch
Heck no lol. You should get a downpipe and straight pipe the resonator and keep the muffler and you will be fine, straight pipes on the muffler will be annoyingly loud. But if yoour budget is 2k then you need to get a downpipe for 300 no more than 400, CAI (cild air intake) thats 300 youll want the air flow to be goo with the upgraded downpipe, then I would say just get a tune on the car and go stage 2. then slowly work on getting more bolt ons or save for clutch.

Have some friends that straight piped their cars. It's certainly loud, but if that's your daily driver for years, it may stop being appealing. But it's all preference. People may just love the immense sound at all times.

Hi man, looking for do a electric cutout for my car similar to straight pipe. I just wanna know hos is the sound quality when partial throttle. Not how loud it is, I have a custom Manaflow catback and a Catted DP, too quiet for me. But there is 0 drone, so I won't change the system, thinking of get cutout so it can be loud when need it. Also is your DP catless? Thanks
The downpipes is hatless and go for the electric cutoff i never seen a car with it but lmk how it goes

How much was the APR tune? And how much hp/tq do you have bro?
Richard Vargas the stage 1 tune and then stage 2 tune together was around 1 thousand and the car never got dyno but I would have to predict that it was well over 380hp maybe pushing 400s, the catless exhaust was around $400 and the muffler and resonator delete was $200

Sounds like there's a cheap ass ebay muffler on there. Add a magnaflow glasspack and it would probably sound perfect.

My 2002 1.8t would piss off my gfs aunt that lived 4 blocks away every time id start it! This ones quiet compared to mine. I had a cop 7 miles away in town hear me leave my house in a hurry and he literally got into his car and turned his lights on and flew down route 5 just to pull me over 3 miles down the road and wrote me a ticket cause the car was so damn loud he tried to even impound it lol. 35lbs of boost and a fully built motor with 3.5 inch pipes was killer! Deep as hell when it started then just ridiculous when it was anything over 2k rpms! First time my buddy road in it we launched under full boost and my tires spun thru every gear from new Hampshire to Vermont over the bridge and that's about a half mile long lol the guy behind me about shit when he seen 5 foot flames role outta the back of my car at the light hahahaha

It has a resonator and muffler delete and a cts 3 1/2 inch downpipe. Plus its apr stage 2 so it is louder and has no rev limiter.

If you cut off the muffler and resonator it sounds okay and is alittle louder definitely better than stock sound!

yeah bro its got a flux time capacitor umm a fat daspper greddy valve clenx kit, oversized radiator and crankshaft alignment plugs with yellow drift engine mounts, with raxton lowering helium compressed market basket bags, felix lined oils splitters, it has a huge turbine and some realined starter cables and a graphic lining built into the hub and spill cabinets

its an 03 amg, we did 3 runs and i beat him 2 out of the 3 times, they are fast car it was stock but its also 430hp and my mk7 is pushing 320hp on apr stage 2!!

all you need is a downpipe and an intake for stage 2 , i recommend a cts downpipes with no catback and a cts intake. i never ran it at a strip but i have hit 162 mph in it in 5th gear with low rpms! apr stage 2 gives your car a lot of horsepower!

Straight piping the MK7 is one of the best mods you could do! However dont do it if you dont how the power to back it up! Loud and slow is a no go!

it sounds cool but its automatic . manual is always better. I (and nearly all enthusiasts) don't care if this automatic transmission is marginally faster than manual, its definitely not as fun.

"Better" is subjective and "always better" is even worse. The DSG is actually a good transmission, and I don't see why so many feel the need to comment on every gti video how much "better" manual is. Is it "because" it's a good transmission that people need to justify the enthusiasm of manuals? I'm actually very curious and hoping someone can elaborate that.
We get it, manual trans are more interactive and generally more enjoyable because of it. The trans type "broadly" has nothing to do with the exhaust system.

theshimita yes its about the sound, and in many cases the sound of the exhaust will give away what type of transmission the car has- to the trained ear. Some people can tell if its a regular automatic, cvt, dsg or the classic manual transmission just by the sound of the exhaust. I can and you probably can too. Nearly all competent enthusiasts will choose the three pedal car if they could choose. Sadly in the States, these cars are hard to find new. I've been looking all over the country for the right three pedal mk7 Golf Sportwagen.

Luis Ramos I understand how much you love manual and I agree that a manual tranny is fun, but I prefer the Dsg in the Gti, it just suits it better IMO. I love the way "fades" and how quickly it shifts, it doesn't take away a lot of involvement of you use the paddles or the +/- feature. It's a lot of fun and you feel like you own a very expensive and high-end car. If you've ever driven a Porsche, then you know what I mean (specifically the new Gt3(rs)).

Mine is automatic. Who cares? My MK7 GTI is total APR Stage 2+ with a 3" catless AWE track edition exhaust and I'll rape a manual with the same mods. All these people hating on manuals. If I had a Lamborghini Aventador would you complain? Cuz last time I checked it too is automatic. So are nearly ever super car and hyper car our there because they are not only faster, but more efficient. I'm also a paraplegic with hand controls so I have no choice but even if I did I would still go DSG. Fun is a subjective word. You may need a stick to have fun in a car but not everyone is this way.
