Probably a bit late to ask this and it's probably simple. But does the elgato also improve video quality? I have one of the cheap amazon ones and when I record, the video quality is terrible. Theres no delay but the resolution is poor even when i went into obs to set the frame rate high.
Hi, thank you for the informative video! I was wondering if this will work with only one pc and monitor? I’m want to stream from my dorm in uni using a Nintendo switch and I only have one monitor to both display the game and stream.
Would it work, and if so, do I just attach both cables to the computer? The third one to the switch ofc. Or can I just do the one that fully displays it and try to capture that window with obs (not sure if that’s how that works and if it even pops up as a window that can be put it).
You can but it's a royal pain in the butt. You'd only need to use the hdmi to switch/capture card and then USB to capture card to PC. Then you can play off of the game capture in obs to make it easy.

What if you do remote play for PS4 on your pc? If you use OBS/streamlabs you can do window share and still have the alerts, webcam, etc. Do you still need the capture card? I know remote play can have lag and I know of the "way to minimize that". The capture card would just be wayyyy more simple right? Lol

I’m currently using the cheap and very common 4k ultra usb 3.0 and literally the only issue I’m having is the audio it just won’t stop echoing. On TikTok to be exact haven’t tried it on any other systems. I may consider getting the elgato or just strictly sticking to pc gaming dk yet. If you have time to respond tell me what you think I should do
I personally can't comment on your capture card since I haven't used it, but I personally love the elgato cards so I'd also go that route if you have the funds

can you go over using recording software? you mentioned streamlabs obs or obs, etc. I am curious what the better option would be.
I use Streamlabs but you could use OBS. Doesn't really matter too much, just use whatever you feel more comfortable with :)

I have a question tho cause i’ve been looking for an answer for a while if you know how i can record the in game chat like proximity chat in cod and whatnot cause that stuff doesn’t show up on stream and it just ends up sounding like i’m talking to myself. i’m streaming on an xbox btw
Usually if you set your audio settings to come out of both your headset and your tv then the capture card should pick it up
My challenge is finding affordable gear to get the best stream. I have a Series X and it’s great, but I need the capture card to record in-game chat from others. I also only have a 1080p 60hz 2.0 HDMI monitor because finding an affordable 2.1 HDMI is difficult. I also am working with a 2015 MacBook Air, so I can’t have any overlays running or my GPU overheats in minutes. Will be watching your gaming laptop video next 😅 thanks and subbed!

bro, I have 1 laptop and that's all, should I get a capture card will it capture high quality video as like im seeing my game? cuz when I just use obs it's kinda pixelated and i tweaked it a ton to see if my settings are off but it still pixelates it a tiny, so I was wondering if capture card will give lossless quality
Capture cards are for consoles and not pc games
You can capture PC displays that have line out built in, but usually obs is just better.
Hey Cpaws! I’m trying to record gameplay from my PS5. I got a usb flash drive that’s 128 GB but when I try to copy a video clip to it it says I can’t copy a video larger than 2 GB. What would you suggest? I don’t want to live stream. This would be so I can edit and then post to UA-cam. Any help would be greatly appreciated 😢
I'd recommend getting a capture card and recording in something like OBS Studio

I have a PC I want to use for gaming and a laptop I want to use for editing videos. When I'm playing and recording on the gaming PC, the game runs really slowly and both the footage and game become laggy. Would a capture card solve this by having the editing computer record the screen of my gaming PC, and ease the process of transferring a video from one computer for the other? In other words, can the PlayStation in the graph you've shown be replaced with a computer?
I'm actually not sure, but I don't believe so.
It's lagging because your refresh is changing alot , for me locking my refresh rate did great rather you have Nvidia or Amd you can lock your refresh so for example if you have a 144hz monitor lock it to 142hz. Hope this helps
got a question. when you get one of the cheaper amazon capture card, will the delay only be for the viewers or will there be a delay for me?

Been all around the world for the same question yet not finding the answer so I would really appreciate it if you answer this.
So I actually been trying to find out if I can record what I play on my pc, and capture it also on my pc. I want to play Forza Horizon 5 on my pc and capture in inside OBS also on the same exact pc. I thought it could help with capturing smooth gameplay since my pc is quite crap.

@@CpawsMusic So apparently I found the answer on their website. Playing and Recording at the same time does put a lot of workload onto your pc so getting a capture card for Playing and Recording on the same pc is not beneficial. Thank you for your really quick reply Mr. Cpaw.

Soo would this help me out for just normal PC gaming? Is this going to just directly stream 1080p 60fps at all times no matter how my internet is acting? My main issue my streams go from 1080p to 480p rq just bc mulitple people on the wifi...

Would you recommend the Elgato s+ over the Elgato S for streaming psone and ps2?
Been researching a lot and your videos seem to help me the best. I do not think I’ll need the Elgato X cause I’m mainly doing switch, psone, ps2 and little gen console.
@@joeymaps HD60S or S+ would work just fine. Though you'll need the retro adapter for the ps1 and ps2 :)

i have the hd60s and for some reason on my ps5 on my main monitor that is 1440p which what i usually play on where i would play it ended up being extremely blurry but the actual game capture for the stream was clear not sure how to fix that. any suggestions? thanks

I just want to record my gameplay on my monitor. My PC specs are good eouch where I don't have any recording issues. With that being said I guess that would be a capture card would be pointless for me. ... Now if I stream then I should get one. Am I correct in my statements?
Capture cards are only necessary for recording/streaming console gameplay, if you're not using a console then it's pointless :D
I want to start getting into UA-cam and make it a Hobby. I do have videos up but i would love to have the editing software the gaming computer. Everything you need to make it great. Right now i use the ps5 recording. But i kind of don’t like having to check every time to make sure i didn’t go over the 60 mins. Because once you go over the 60 mins the ps5 cant export it.

Yup! You can definitely use a computer monitor as an alternative to a TV. You can unplug the monitor from the PC and use it as a TV for the PS4, or you can omit the hdmi completely and just play off of the capture from the USB from the elgato (note, that this method may have latency)
Do you know if the mini usb to usb for capture card to laptop can actually be mini usb to type-C? My 2019 MacBook doesn’t have a usb

When I stream on twitch with my xbox 1 cod 2 for example it gets my mic audio and the game audio but it does not get the people speaking in game, will a capture card solve this problem?

Hey cpaws so I recently purchased a capture card it was a cheap one works perfectly fine then got a hdmi splitter got everything good to go but then when i stream the gameplay is buggy and then when i turn the stream off on my streamlabs screen it runs smooth is that because its a cheap hdmi splitter or cheap capture card? Camera is crisp just gameplay is glitchy and laggy

OWN3D Pro only works with OBS Studio, however if you buy overlays & alerts from the OWN3D tv shop then you can manually add those items into Twitch Studio, however it might be a little tricky.

Is the PS5 video footage delayed or is the audio for the footage delayed?
@@CpawsMusic The ps5 footage is delayed on twitch, but its instant on obs or twitch studio.
@@gigi-rr3dy Twitch will always have at least a small delay from the streaming software, it's just latency from broadcasting. There isn't much you can do about that other than going into your Twitch Settings and Enabling Low Latency Mode under your Creator Dashboard > Settings > Stream > Low Latency
