Okay I’ll say this, this is the only version of different beast I’ve seen so far where I feel the emotional weight of what Odysseus is doing (like I know it’s fucked up that he’s massacring them in my head, but this one conveys that sheer ruthlessness better than any I’ve seen) I’ve seen a lot of different beast animatics and I genuinely think this is the best

The small part of Ody being tied to the ship is a call back to the original story where he ordered his men to tie him to the ships mast and then plug only their ears with wax so that they could see the effects sirens had on men so they wouldn't be tricked as well when they were ordered to kill them
I seriously love how you portrayed the internal conflict inside Eurylochus within this. I also love how Eurylochus is the one to kill Siren “Penelope” because it’s clear that he just gives her a quick death so that she doesn’t suffer through the same agony as her friends or it could also be that he felt some remorse to her and the sirens and just wanted to end her suffering as quick as he could.
I also found that direction interesting too. Most Different animatics have Odysseus deliver the final blow to the lead siren, so it’s very interesting to have Eurylochus doing it.
This was INSANE. The expressions and the inclusion of baby siren was CRAZY😭😭😭😭 the Sirens have great monster designs but you can see that Odysseus is more of a monster here than they are. He’s ruthless, even after they pleaded for their lives.
i love the detail at 2:20 where Ody raises his hand to call his men off, and Eurylochus has already done so- showing kind of the shift in command that leads up to mutiny (how the entire crew immediately sided with Eurylochus). It's such a small detail but i love it sm
I like how Eurylochus looked shocked and horrified when he saw that one of the sirens was a child. It’s almost like he’s realizing the monster his Captain is becoming.

This is exactly how I imagined it going in my head, and I've failed to find an animatic that shows the true gruesomeness of Odysseus's heartless actions. I don't think people grasp the full weight of it all or want to, so I think this was put together very nicely.

Fun fact I learned the other day- the “daughter” siren Penelope showed Odysseus is actually an illusion made of bones and sea weed. Knowing a kid wasn’t in the mix made me feel better 😂

It's only after watching some other animatics that I realized something big about your animatic that makes it stand out in a way I greatly enjoy. Odysseus' actions aren't glorified at all, even he doesn't seem particularly proud of himself in his brutality. It shows that his actions are too cruel by dismembering the sirens to drown. Most of the others I've seen really lack that inherent tragedy of watching a man become a monster.

FUCK MY ACTUAL LIFE! This is the follow-up to the Suffering version where she is falling in love with him! I realized it only at 1:47 because of how the Penelope's mimicry looks and that dreamy smile she makes when Ody grabs her by the waist 😭😭... And he just has the little smuggest asshole smile ever instead, right before proceeding to strangle and manhandle her so bad one of her eyes gets half closed!?! Seriously, seeing THAT would broke even the *real Penelope's* heart! And MY GOD I *worship* the way you draw the crew at 2:15 like they are soldiers painted on an ancient Greek amphora!! That truly sells the point about these men having just returned from ten years of a war that they survived and won, which means they have no less blood on their hands than the creatures they met. And the baby siren?? Jorge kind of implied it isn't meant to be there, but canon or not it is never gonna leave the fandom's heads. Plus, it would just fit so well what Ody said in Monster. Now that we see him do what he said he would, a baby HAS TO show up! This simply is the best and most angsty version of Different Beast I ever saw, and I think I've seen all of them, including some with even more gore than here. But this one *actually* gets under your skin, especially with Ody acting not really super villanous but not even conflicted about what he is doing. Yes, he gets extra pissed and sassy here and there... but his expression is often simply umperturbed, like he switched off his brain, and THAT is *beyond terrifying!!!* Going back to how he glares at Sirenelope with those dead eyes, after she looks at him like she can't understand what is happening (after all, why was he even flirting with her if the spell wasn't working and he wasn't jumping?), I felt cold in my gut. I had a theory about how Eurylochus and Odysseus BOTH saw Polites in the underworld, but whereas Odysseus became ruthless afterwards, Eurylochus decided to try out Polites' open arms mindset, in memory of his friend. Hence how he starts becoming more merciful, including feeling awful about killing the Sirens and standing up against Odysseus for the Scylla sacrifices.
The baby and Penelope siren is giving me a whole "what if" AU and I hate it cause I'm gonna loose motivation the moment I write😩 Imagine if Penelope!Siren offered knowledge and travel saftey in turn for food for her child just, aughaaaaa

I also loved the 1:50 transition where he rabs the siren and then strangles her. Anyways, I love how Eurylychus seems to be sorry for the sirens and at least gives them a less painful death., Amazing work with this whole animatic!

The daughter from 'Suffering'. Oh lord, it was an actual baby siren. Thankfully she was struck by an arrow, spared the pain of being cut in half, at least some small mercy. But wow, her addition really drives in just how brutal this was. Odysseus cloak soaking the red of the blood also adds to that point beautifully
amazing expressions! the constant movement and tweening is so well done!! I love that eurlucus has sympathy for them since and the brutality of it is really well done!

FUCK MY ACTUAL LIFE! This is the follow-up to the Suffering version where she is falling in love with him! I realized it only at 1:47 because of how the Penelope's mimicry looks and that dreamy smile she makes when Ody grabs her by the waist 😭😭... And he just has the little smuggest asshole smile ever instead, right before proceeding to strangle and manhandle her so bad one of her eyes gets half closed!?! Seriously, seeing THAT would broke even the *real Penelope's* heart!
And MY GOD I *worship* the way you draw the crew at 2:15 like they are soldiers painted on an ancient Greek amphora!! That truly sells the point about these men having just returned from ten years of a war that they survived and won, which means they have no less blood on their hands than the creatures they met.
And the baby siren?? Jorge kind of implied it isn't meant to be there, but canon or not it is never gonna leave the fandom's heads. Plus, it would just fit so well what Ody said in Monster. Now that we see him do what he said he would, a baby HAS TO show up!
This simply is the best and most angsty version of Different Beast I ever saw, and I think I've seen all of them, including some with even more gore than here. But this one *actually* gets under your skin, especially with Ody acting not really super villanous but not even conflicted about what he is doing. Yes, he gets extra pissed and sassy here and there... but his expression is often simply umperturbed, like he switched off his brain, and THAT is *beyond terrifying!!!* Going back to how he glares at Sirenelope with those dead eyes, after she looks at him like she can't understand what is happening (after all, why was he even flirting with her if the spell wasn't working and he wasn't jumping?), I felt cold in my gut. She was living an impossible dream which turned out to be an absolute nightmare.

This is beautiful. Perfectly captures the message of Odysseus becoming a bigger monster than those he’s encountered. Bravo!
I had a theory about how Eurylochus and Odysseus BOTH saw Polites in the underworld, but whereas Odysseus became ruthless afterwards, Eurylochus decided to try out Polites' open arms mindset, in memory of his friend. Hence how he starts becoming more merciful, including feeling awful about killing the Sirens and standing up against Odysseus for the Scylla sacrifices.
The baby and Penelope siren is giving me a whole "what if" AU and I hate it cause I'm gonna loose motivation the moment I write😩

I love the emotion you manage to convey into this, the expressions on everyones faces, eurylychus, the siren, and Odysseous is amazing. the gore is brutal and shocking, and the moment with the baby siren hits especially hard! I also loved the 1:50 transition where he rabs the siren and then strangles her. Anyways, I love how Eurylychus seems to be sorry for the sirens and at least gives them a less painful death., Amazing work with this whole animatic!

The daughter from 'Suffering'. Oh lord, it was an actual baby siren. Thankfully she was struck by an arrow, spared the pain of being cut in half, at least some small mercy. But wow, her addition really drives in just how brutal this was. Odysseus cloak soaking the red of the blood also adds to that point beautifully
