I love that at the start of this video you said magic missile wasnt a good spell. I’m sure it upset everyone including myself who knew exactly how good it could be. It was my main build for Gale in Honour Mode.
The nice thing about Magic Missile is that at least it does scale when upcast. It doesn't scale well, and spells that always are higher level spells are generally better than upcasting Magic Missile, but if you're doing a Magic Missile only run, it is nice that upcasting it is actually useful. Plus, the fact that it NEVER misses certainly is nice.
I’m surprised no one mentioned using knock for balthazar or the callous glow ring, also with how much radiant damage you were doing the luminous armor might have been better
My favourite thing about Magic Missile is that since it always hits and spell modifier doesnt affect damage, you don't need to level your spellcasting stat. You can go full tank with as much Con and heavy armour and a shield as you want. Abjuration? pfft, never heard of it. I cast the spell that does the same damage and always hit no matter how tanky you are or are not
At level 8, I don’t remember what you took, but if you take the feat that gives you 2 cantrips and 1 spell from another class, and take it from Cleric, you could cast sanctuary on yourself as a bonus action. Scrying eyes are such a pain, Before trying to shove it to death, the strat was to shoot it with a sharpshooter that did 12-18 damage, which, between resistance and its special ability became 0-3 damage, and even then, it did very little round after round
It's one of my fav spells, period. It's an auto-hit, no roll to attack and no save, so it's automatic damage. Even if it's only d4's, those can do some serious damage all stacking up on one enemy. It's a constant in Gale's spell list for me.
I love when Ketheric fight on balaced mode is cute little challange, nothing too difficult and then you try tactitian and he becomes the hardest boss fight in the game (house of grief is quite easy if you don't go barbarian style)
30:49 I think you might know by now that you were wrong there. 3d4+3 means 3 dice rolls with 1-4 (worst: 3 best: 12) +3 so its 6-15 the +3 does not mean 3 missiles.
Beat the original BG with just a Conjurer. Of course save scummed alot. The final battle with Sarevok I lured them outside the boss room and tried to fight one at a time. Took me forever, and no cheats.
evocation wizard is actually the best option for this imo. at level 10 empowered evocation provides extra dmg equal to your int modifier to every hit of magic missile. Assuming its +5, for a 6 level magic missile its +40 dmg
If you're still looking at the comments, Grym attacks minor illusions and focuses on enemies that are closest to him. So, you can use minor illusion to manipulate him and gain distance.
I can’t get enough of this game. I’ve watched numerous full play through, guides, memes and have a full play though and ready to start my second one. It is D2 levels of good for me. Also, I don’t think you understand how that thunder damage ring works that you got from Nere. Gotta dish out thunder damage to receive the bonus damage from the ring. It says that….right there in the description
just started watching so in case later in the video he rectifies this: Magic missile works best on evocation wizard, simply because later on you can add your int mod to EACH INDIVIDUAL DART as bonus magic damage. On top of that each dart also gains individual benefits from gear and buffs like Phalar Aluve's extra thunder damage or the Spell sparklers lightning damage, allowing you to crank Magic missile into a machine gun essentially. If he discovers these things later in the run I will re-edit my comment. Edit: he knew
If you used perilous stakes you could’ve trivialized a lot of these fighting doing literally double the damage more than likely one turning a lot of high health enemies
wow. I've hear of drs, understand how it's (practically) quadratically scaling damage, and knows how ludicrous it gets. What I didn't realize is that it comes online so quickly. I guess that'd be the biggest difference from honor mode.
I'm pretty sure anyone who played BG3 an avg amount of hours knows magic missile is pretty much the best spell of the game because of gear "exploits" and its always-hit feature. Still nice vid, good showcase and liked the pace / edit

Very cheesy, but the shield of devotion in the inn in act 2 lets you generate infinite spell slots and sorcery points by removing the spell slot it gives you with meta magic, then unequipting and reequipting the shield, rinse and repeat.
I'd really recommend siding with minthara and the goblins, it’s very easy, unless allies counts against the challenge, you can just retreat for the first part and let the spiders and goblins tear up the tieflings, the hard part is the druids since the spider and ogre mysteriously disappear after the first fight
@@abrahamsandwichhe do be having the best armor, it’s worth it in the long run, but you can get an extra 2 tadpoles if you side with minthara, I'd suggest killing rapheal in act 1 for his armor, it’s the second best in the game and doesn’t require any proficiency, but it’s impossible in this challenge I think, you'd need to cast silence over him and then destroy while silence is up, I recommend the helm of grit, it gives you another bonus action each turn while you’re below 50% health

i made the exact same build as a lightning dragon born and i think its the best race for it actually. if enemies surround you, you can use lightning breath and it goes really well with the synchronization of the boots and gloves and ring however for some reason i didnt do nearly as much dmg to myrkul as you, the glow ring wasnt working and i noticed your staff wasnt glowing in the fight but was working? idk if its been nerfed or if its just weird atm but its a really fun build probably my favourite since it makes dragon breath viable
During the netherbrain fight the buff didnt use both actions, illithids dont differentiate between action and bonus action they can perform either using both so it just uses then in sequence. the jump burned the first action

But that's literally been the point of Magic Missle since Dungeons and Dragons came out. A low base damage spell that always hits. Do what you want I guess, but it feels weird to want to change a staple spell that's been around for decades at this point.
So what you’re saying is you hate the spell and what a completely different one? The entire point of the spell is to not miss and you don’t like that? Scrying eyes are such a pain, Before trying to shove it to death, the strat was to shoot it with a sharpshooter that did 12-18 damage, which, between resistance and its special ability became 0-3 damage, and even then, it did very little round after round
Everybody gangsta until: *Gale Disapproves*
you can make lae'zel and shadowheart jump off the nautiloid to avoid using them in combat
True
It's one of my fav spells, period. It's an auto-hit, no roll to attack and no save, so it's automatic damage. Even if it's only d4's, those can do some serious damage all stacking up on one enemy. It's a constant in Gale's spell list for me.
it's so good!
MMM stands for: Mmm, what a fumrun!
Mmm
I love when Ketheric fight on balaced mode is cute little challange, nothing too difficult and then you try tactitian and he becomes the hardest boss fight in the game (house of grief is quite easy if you don't go barbarian style)
30:49 I think you might know by now that you were wrong there. 3d4+3 means 3 dice rolls with 1-4 (worst: 3 best: 12) +3 so its 6-15 the +3 does not mean 3 missiles.
7:00 "not taking -1 to attack rolls"
magic missile having a guaranteed 100% hit chance: "Am I a joke to you?"
Beat the original BG with just a Conjurer. Of course save scummed alot. The final battle with Sarevok I lured them outside the boss room and tried to fight one at a time. Took me forever, and no cheats.
having done a jack-of-all build on honor mode, I completed this challenge essentially completely by accident.
evocation wizard is actually the best option for this imo. at level 10 empowered evocation provides extra dmg equal to your int modifier to every hit of magic missile. Assuming its +5, for a 6 level magic missile its +40 dmg
I change to wizard after hitting high enough level! Being low level and having high charisma was super helpful so I’m glad I started sorcerer.
@@abrahamsandwich ah thats amazing, shouldve watched the whole video hahha
Bro I haven't seen your channel since the beginning of CP2077. Nice to see you doing content on another banger of a game.
Appreciate it
I love magic missile so much that I made a necrotic version to use on my necromancer, more thematic.
If you're still looking at the comments, Grym attacks minor illusions and focuses on enemies that are closest to him. So, you can use minor illusion to manipulate him and gain distance.
For the Grym Forge fight, you can use a mage hand to use the hammer and with the right positioning you can hit Grym multiple times in a round with it
I can’t get enough of this game.
If you let Gut roofie you then don't escape from the shackles an assassin shows up and kills her and her ogre for you.
there is something funny about being like 6 inches away from kethric and holding up your hand to cast 6 magic missiles directly in his face
22:15 I would hope that the goblins have enough self preservation to notice a full grown grizzly bear
Mighty morphing magic missile mindslaying man
just started watching so in case later in the video he rectifies this:
Magic missile works best on evocation wizard, simply because later on you can add your int mod to EACH INDIVIDUAL DART as bonus magic damage.
This is basically how i run gale lmao. Fireball or magic missile, almost no inbetween unless i make raphael dance which is hilareous to do.
gonna tell you the same i have been telling anyone who does magic missiles builds.
That is Vegeta's techinique.
If you used perilous stakes you could’ve trivialized a lot of these fighting doing literally double the damage more than likely one turning a lot of high health enemies
55:25 Why didn’t he just disengage when he moved further away instead of fog clouding?
magic missile mike, make more missiles, make missiles mighty, Mike missile man.
Just avoid like the 3 npcs that use shield and your good to go! 😁👍
Best in the game is a massive stretch but it’s definitely a solid spell
Oh for sure, it took me just a short while to realize how good it was going to be!
@@torrent0411and ketheric with his damage reduction, and Ansur for the same reason, and Mykurl on tactician+ where he keeps the armor damage reduction from Ketheric, and Gortash when he gets his phase two force immunity (I think I may be wrong about that one) then you should be good 👍
Very cheesy, but the shield of devotion in the inn in act 2 lets you generate infinite spell slots and sorcery points by removing the spell slot it gives you with meta magic, then unequipting and reequipting the shield, rinse and repeat.
I'd really recommend siding with minthara and the goblins, it’s very easy, unless allies counts against the challenge, you can just retreat for the first part and let the spiders and goblins tear up the tieflings, the hard part is the druids since the spider and ogre mysteriously disappear after the first fight
But then I lock myself out of all the gear Damon sells. I used some good stuff from him!
@@sifins1579that’s literally one of the worst choices in the game, not counting the loot even you lose Dammon, Zevlor, Mol, and Halsin as allies in the final fight, Karlach, Wyll, and Halsin as companions, counting loot you lose all the stuff from Dammon, the potent robes from Alfira, the boots that boat AC and Saves form one of the tiefling kids and so much more all just to sleep with Minthara only for her to still try to kill you. Opinions are opinions but this has to be either troll bait or the worst opinion for this game I’ve ever seen.
"Idk the meta builds im just doing what i know" real, anyway protip for everyone who also plays that way, jump and feather fall from level 1 sorc and then pop the giants elixir straight out the tutorial and you can literally jump your way to the goblin camp in the first 5 minutes of gameplay, hit level 3 and most of 4 off just that too, just dont forget to bring the shapeshift mask or be a drow to get the xp for skipping the blighted village fights. Having level 3 in the first 5 minutes males resetting after losing an honormode run a lot less painful
I have never encountered those duelists, like ever. I've completed 3 full runs including an honor mode run and am now on my 4th. I have no idea who they are or where to find them 😂 I love this game.
The fact that he didn´t use the "friends" cantrip at all throughout the run gives me physical pain.
I did, just didn’t show it.
@@abrahamsandwich Oh damn my bad bro didn´t know
i made the exact same build as a lightning dragon born and i think its the best race for it actually. if enemies surround you, you can use lightning breath and it goes really well with the synchronization of the boots and gloves and ring however for some reason i didnt do nearly as much dmg to myrkul as you, the glow ring wasnt working and i noticed your staff wasnt glowing in the fight but was working?
idk if its been nerfed or if its just weird atm but its a really fun build probably my favourite since it makes dragon breath viable
During the netherbrain fight the buff didnt use both actions, illithids dont differentiate between action and bonus action they can perform either using both so it just uses then in sequence. the jump burned the first action
I honestly had never played as an Illithid till then so yeah I definitely didn’t play optimal
Love it! Going to use this for honor mode
My god I just had the most uncanny moment. This is the first time (I thought) I had even seen gameplay of BG3 but when you hit the first area I was like "What the hell, I've literally played this before!"
Which would be weird since the game hasn't been out a year and I would have known it was BG3 considering all the hype.
So yeah, they actually released a demo back in 2020. I was literally questioning my own sanity there for a moment. Freaky.
potions of speed are a casters best friend.
Couldn’t agree more!
And a martial's best friend.
They're everyone's friend, aside from the poor sod getting his face kicked in at twice the usual speed.
Psychic Missiles: The Run
only thing that makes me sad is no thunderwave ledge killing with this setup, okay the scrying eye was funny though
Underdark through the Zhent hideout is probably the fastest/easiest method to get there. I’ve been using it to get Phalar early for my Dex characters. Just a heads up.
Yeah probably
fastest easiest way is to let priestess gut poison you and have raphael's dwarf simp rescue you, leads you right to the selunite area
@@Laurannah101 I slightly disagree only because you have to pass two goblin groups to get to that one. You don’t have to fight them if you roll well, but there’s only one required dialogue skill check and a lockpick or two if you go the Zhent way. (You can fail the first check when the guy blows up the oil barrel without having to fight anyone.)
@@eriiicj.1558just play as it disguise as a Drow and those checks go away so yeah the shattered Sanctum one is fastest, the temple is literally right next to Phalar Aluve and connects to the Arcane tower and is across the way from the Myconid colony, only way I ever go to the under dark.
@@eriiicj.1558 You have to go fight the gnolls to get to the hideout, which is a significantly harder fight than both goblin groups.
2 minutes in and already killing without magic missile, with companions. that was a quick watch.
Only has them though a into but didn’t attack with them. Just kept them for their quests.
@@abrahamsandwich 2:20 you killed the imp with lae'zel
@BaileysGT well ngl totally forgot I did that. Whops haha!
26:21 the narrator is becoming self-aware
magic missle + spell sparkler + phalur aluve sherik =op
Dude, I don't know what quality you're uploading in but this looks WAY cleaner than normal BG3 videos i've seen on other channels. Great video too btw +1
Thanks dude!
There’s a ring which gives you a magic missile that explodes on hit. I use it as soon as I get it.
LES GOO I LOVE BG3 AS WELL LES GO
God, I forgot how much I loved this game!
It’s so good!
I feel like I rely too heavily on magic missles, but at the same time I don't like missing when the enemies are at low health. I personally wouldn't mind if it was fixed at 90% or 95% hit rate, but that's what mods are for.
There’s nothing stopping you from not using the spell just never learn it if you get to tempted on the hotbar. Stop hoping that they’ll make this horrible change and good luck finding the mod for this lmao.
Now do it on honor mode lol. Outstanding video
2:00 but you can make laezel... leave the minute she becomes your team mates. on a tooootaaalyyy different note: did you that "companions" can jump into the abyss wich makes them... lets say leave semi-permanetly?
MMM What a good playthrough challenge 😂
He could use his bonus action to fly away because it doesn’t provoke an opportunity attack
Have you done a fire spell only run?
That scrying eye is the real boss
Magic missles was probbaly my most used spell besides fireball. Like i abused the heck out of it.
At level 10, the optimal play would be evocation wizard, who can add their intelligence mod to their damage with evocation spells, which is every single bolt.
Good thing he did exactly that in the video
Some people can’t watch a video before telling people what they should do smh
The really obnoxious thing about shoving is, if it would push them into a wall, it fails.
I heard you say "MMM" at the start and assumed it'd be "Magic Missile Master" lol
You can use the Ogre Horn anywhere in Act 1 (even underground) except the Mountain Pass for some reason
Mountain pass is kinda Act 1.5 so that may be the reason I guess
Magic Missile can be more powerful then scorching ray with a pure fire sorc build and right equipment.
Haven’t made it far but I was just wondering why not warlock so magic missile is just an action? (Prolly will multi spec into one but why not start as one?)
