The the film's graphic title designs both in the advertisements and in the film looks very similar to that of the Kingsman films so I would be not surprised to hear of Matthew Vaughn's intention to create a Marv cinematic universe.
(I saw an advanced screening too) I don’t think they DID mislead people in the ads. Its obvious that Cavil and Cena are the imagined characters from Bryce Dallas Howards book in at least the longer ads.
Agreed, this was exactly what I was expecting and I even actively avoided trailers so confused as to what others saw??? I do think it’s an unconventional pair of leads that might not feel as big as some of the other cast but that’s also what makes it refreshing
If you saw The Lost City then you know having Tatum be a fictional character does not prevent you from having him as lead. That is what the marketing of this film suggested with Cavill. Instead we got The lost City 2, electric bogaloo starring the people third from the center on the poster

@@PJ-io8pl don’t really care about this movie, was curious what her general opinion was on it. but usual best practice for notifying viewers of a spoiler in a review is to say there’s a spoiler as a warning so people can choose to bail before they encounter the spoiler rather than say verbatim what the spoiler is so someone can accidentally read your comment. even more helpful would be to have a timestamp range that viewers can avoid while still watching the video once again I really don’t care, doesn’t affect me personally but might bother someone that does care about spoilers

I missed Sandra Bullock in _The Lost City_ at the theater, but watched it on Prime when I had it for a month and liked it. This sounds something like that movie.
The problem is pacing. The best scenes of fhe movie are when it moves fast, and that fits with Rockwell. But the slow dreamlike pacing kills it. Ironically i think it needed to be even more over the top and fast.
I don't think the budget was £200M I think it was produced by Matthew Vaughn's production company for far less then that then bought by Apple for $200M
It’s amazing to me that someone as ingrained in the industry as Grace can not separate an actor from their different performances. It’s a bit silly to say that Cavill has loosened up when it’s clearly just that the characters are different and require different performances.
I always enjoy watching Grace hold up a TURD and describe it as a work of art. Hollywood should really give her an Academy Award for her ability to keep a straight face while doing it.
Kingsman IS watered down. It was fun but not timeless. It felt very of the moment and disposable...it is Vaughn's. Funny to think...how often ARE sequels made by the same director...hard to think of one atm for me...
I normally watch Beyond The Trailer on my phone, but decided to watch on my tv today. Felt like Grace was in my living room with me. It made me happy. 😊
It might be a good movie, but I just really hate a misleading marketing campaign. People are definitely going to watch this because of Henry Cavill (and Dua Lipa). That they're knowingly using him as basically the bait to a bait a switch movie is just so sleezy that it will leave a bad taste in my mouth regardless of how good the movie is.

Great review Grace, but there is one thing I think you were confused about 3:56 the movie is based on the book and Elly Conway is (supposedly) is a real author. Matthew Vaughn loved the book so much that he bought the film rights before it was even published.
I saw it today, Friday 2 2024, and yes, it is for me . I had a ball watching this movie, really dynamic, surprising, well done, well acted and much more. Henry Cavill doesn't appear as much as I expected but there are great actors all around so , I guess it is ok. Go see it, you'll have a great time!!!
