    Very nice to see you making the knife handles and getting ready to make the knifes. I remember my wood working projects as a boy. Very satisfying to see the wood turn into a very usable item with my efforts.

      Best friggin butter knives in teh world. Space grade materials, Swiss precision and most importantly: human touch.
      You can order them online for "absurd" amount of money, but hey, you are too good for shit from China and you know it.

    You are very lucky to have your father teach you about wood working. I regret not taking wood working course in college 25 years ago. If I would've taken the course I would be able to build so much right now. What a beautiful knife it is going to turn out once it's dried and sanded out and oiled. Can't wait to see the completed work.

    Beautiful knife. I am a Finnish-Canadian & was fortunate to have a family friend that made kitchen utensils. I have several spoons, spatulas & knives ... and shoe horns. My knives are just made out of a single type of wood ... I really like the 'beefier' handle. Very nice design!

    I had forgotten my love of woodworking. Years ago as a young mother I worked in a "hand made" furniture factory and had to change the bandsaw blades. Mostly I did sanding and routing. I have missed it and not known it. Yes I even folded the blades like Papa. Simeon I loved the walk down memory lane. Love to all and thank you.

    I saw this project and I decided to copy the design and make it. I made it and In the process I had a lot of fun. I was inspired because they built it from scratch, they took their wood from a block of wood. I used power tools and hand tools. I added dowels to the handle for design effect. I drilled shallow holes on both sides of the handle for the dowels, I should have drilled the holes all the was through
    For a perfect line up. I used walnut for the hande and maple for the blade. I will use lght mineral oil for a finish. I dont think it will ever be used but it is a beautiful object to look at, so we will keep it here in the kitchen as a conversation piece. love it.

    Great shop.... I just remembered that I have some Ironwood that I cut about thirty years ago. It is well named. Almost tossed it several times as it has some checks, but this will be an awesome project for it. Not as pretty as your cedar (?), but really TOUGH. Thanks - took a screen shot for the pattern :-) Also have a bunch of bits of walnut etc. lying around. Great channel.

    • @jacekkania8136
      @jacekkania8136 6 років тому

      Yeah, you better use cedar. Butter can be though cookie. I've seen hungry people with slice of bread in one hand and broken ironwood butter knife in other one. And tears of despair on their faces. Oh the humanity... Don't be fool like them, use cedar. And for best results, do not use anything thinner than 2 inches.
