Really enjoyed watching your dad's craftsmanship.
Very nice to see you making the knife handles and getting ready to make the knifes. I remember my wood working projects as a boy. Very satisfying to see the wood turn into a very usable item with my efforts.
I hope the people that get this appreciate all the hand work that went in to it. Not easy and some people will take it for granted. beautiful.
My dad and I are working together today, and now just watched you two do the same. Living the good life, we won't have this forever. :)
As a father the same age as your father what a wonderful time spent together creating beautiful gifts. Enjoy your time with Dad! Great video and music!
What a privilege to watch a greatly skilled craftsman at work - thanks for sharing!
What a privilege to still be able to work with your father. Love your channel. God bless you and your family.
How cool to see the process! Awesome blessing to have your Dad pass his knowledge to his son's.
I had forgotten my love of woodworking. Years ago as a young mother I worked in a "hand made" furniture factory and had to change the bandsaw blades. Mostly I did sanding and routing. I have missed it and not known it. Yes I even folded the blades like Papa. Simeon I loved the walk down memory lane. Love to all and thank you.
I just love watching you guys! Tell your dad that he is an inspiration- I was certainly impressed with the saw blade folding trick! Can't wait till you choose (hopefully me)! Thanks for sharing - and what a great idea for your anniversary!
I adore these videos. I came for the farming videos but I must say I Love the woodshop videos!
I loved watching this. Plus you get to work with your dad. How wonderful!
Your dad is a badass! Love how he tripple looped that band saw blade in 1 move.
It was fun watching the crafting of these beautiful "mall smörkniv"! The wood looks beautiful! I can hardly wait to see them after they are finished! Thanks for sharing your culture and your skills in this special way!
It's absolutely lovely! I really enjoy your channel thanks for all the great content! From Texas :)
Heart warming and wholesome 👍🌳🇮🇪 great channel you guys.. Happy trails 🌲
Stephen Gerard's Arb Quest moose /deer bone knife
Your dad makes it all look so easy! That wood is beautiful. Makes me want to get our new to us, old band saw up and running! Your dad also snaps that saw blade beautifully! Love this video
You and your Dad are very resourceful. I can't imagine the hours that went into the butter knives. Who ever receives one cherish it because a lot of love and time went into them.
Beautiful, love watching the magic of wood, can't wait to see the finished piece.
Great video, brought tears to my eyes remembering working with my Dad in his shop who just passed away this summer. Really enjoy the acoustical background music and can't wait for part II.
Awesome love it. Thanks for sharing this great video. God bless you all always.
Just discovered your site. I am amazed at the quality of your butter knives. The skill of your father is awesome. Very nice.
Best friggin butter knives in teh world. Space grade materials, Swiss precision and most importantly: human touch.
You can order them online for "absurd" amount of money, but hey, you are too good for shit from China and you know it.
wonderful to see such craftmanship
Looks great so far.
Looking forward to the finished product.
You are very lucky to have your father teach you about wood working. I regret not taking wood working course in college 25 years ago. If I would've taken the course I would be able to build so much right now. What a beautiful knife it is going to turn out once it's dried and sanded out and oiled. Can't wait to see the completed work.
I am old enough that I respect an older gentleman's skills. This was a pleasure to watch.
Thank you.
What a very fascinating process to watch. I hope you will show another video of them when completed. Thanks for sharing this!
That fancy move with the saw blade was AMAZING...LOL Had to watch that a few more times. Bravo!
Kinda new to your channel and I love it so far. Nice workshop! My father in law makes knifes- metal. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with us
You guys make that look..."as easy as cutting butter"..! Great job .
Your Dad is a Pro at folding a bandsaw blade. ive tried many times and always end up cutting fingers. gave it up as a bad job now. Fantastic Video, Love to see the old craftsmen at work.
Cheers.
your dad folding the saw was the best
I first discovered these wooden butter knives when I was in sweden in 1978. I bought two, and brought them home with me, and I still have and use them!
What a great video! A real pleasure to,watch. Well done!
An AWESOME Channel for sure . Thanks for the Great videos Merry Christmas !
Very nice. Happy to see your dad is up and moving. Remember, once he gets his campers built, I am there.
great work! Beautiful pieces!
I really enjoyed watching this. Thanks for sharing!
Really nice video! It's great that you and your dad can work together in the shop. I wish I still had mine.
Beautiful knife. I am a Finnish-Canadian & was fortunate to have a family friend that made kitchen utensils. I have several spoons, spatulas & knives ... and shoe horns. My knives are just made out of a single type of wood ... I really like the 'beefier' handle. Very nice design!
Do you have friggin deathwish? Beefier handles are only proper one. It's frozen butter. Stay safe man.
Wow such wonderful craftsmanship
I'm new to your channel, but I'm really enjoying it. You're so fortunate to have a father and siblings with so many useful skills and so much valuable experience to learn from and to have them help you!
I also enjoy watching paint dry
Another excellent video Simeon. Please consider making some available to purchase. It would make a wonderful momento of your channel. Looking forward to the next video.
I think your Dad and probably your Mom are untapped treasures of talent and information. Your parent's blog is very interesting and would be great to see some of their activities on video now and then.
Very cool!! We love watching and sharing your videos.
Now that was a excellent video....hope your dad is staying healthy as well as the rest of the family.
This was awesome. Can't wait to see the end result
Very cool. Just found your channel I subscribed right away. I would love to make one of these for my mother. Again very cool nice video 👍👏😎
The music selections were great!
Great workmanship
Love how your dad folds the bandsaw , didn't think that was a thing !
Just popping by this video again to pick up the Amazon link to make a purchase for roof sealing stuff.
Looking forward to part 2 of the butter knife. Just thinking would work great as a spatula for applying the roof seal compound I am buying..lol.
Really lovely video. Thank you.
Loved you Father's saw blade flip!
They look like they will be lovely, especially with the two tone handles!!!! As someone said - hope you have a few for sale too!!!! Wonderful to see them being made, including boards from a log ( I assume from your property).....
Pricetag for swedish butter knife, is kidney, but it's totally worth. It's a friggin heirloom. Your grandchildren will think fondly of you while smearing butter on bread.
Hell, you should buy two like right now.
I wish I could smell the scent of the wood. Lovely
Jonas Larsson we need that smell-o-vision TV
Wamblue the butter knife is for making butter. Old fashioned way.
Great video! Nice equipment
The magic trick at 3:38 was awesome!!! Lol. Been there done that a few times that man has.
This is fantastic!
I saw this project and I decided to copy the design and make it. I made it and In the process I had a lot of fun. I was inspired because they built it from scratch, they took their wood from a block of wood. I used power tools and hand tools. I added dowels to the handle for design effect. I drilled shallow holes on both sides of the handle for the dowels, I should have drilled the holes all the was through
For a perfect line up. I used walnut for the hande and maple for the blade. I will use lght mineral oil for a finish. I dont think it will ever be used but it is a beautiful object to look at, so we will keep it here in the kitchen as a conversation piece. love it.
What an interesting life you live. You are living on the butterknife edge man.
My grandmother was a Peterson. I want a Swedish butter knife! :)
Beautiful!
Great skill in removing the wood exactly and not fingers love it
I believe I’ll try to make one. Thanks I just started watching your videos and I’m enjoy them.
Sex
Thank you for sharing the whole process. So many steps. May I know what kind of wood were used?
Great video. I watched in amazement as Papa folded his band saw blade. I watched that segment over and over. Still - I slice my face to ribbons! Oh well - just keep trying for another 10 years! Just something I never quite got the hang of. Maybe I'm not holding my mouth just right!
The bandsaw is epic. I hope to someday have one like it.
Folding the saw blade is just showing off now . many thanks for the vids keep it up please.
Steven Chandler i know , simeon does it in another video too. I have tried several times with no luck.
I wish I was as svelte when folding mine.
Svelte?
folding is easy, opening one safely is the real trick
Bob Blarney ua-cam.com/video/wGbZqWac0jU/v-deo.html from 1:15. You can thank me later ;-)
Nice job, Thought with all going on and winterizing you make them during the long winter time.
Simeon, you look just like your dad, I bet you get that a lot. Cool video to watch, craftsmen at work. I would sure love to have one of those knives. :D
Alright if you have the workshop and fancy tools. I made mine from a fallen birch branch, hand carved and sitting in garden.
Tools used. Bahco Laplander saw, eka folding knife, sandpaper and IKEA board oil. Simples 👍
Jointer on top and thickness planer on bottom! Love it!
Thanks for that was wondering.
I want one.
I've never seen one of those and didn't know they were even made. Would love to have one myself.
I was think the same thing. Awesome!
That's fairly normal in Europe. We call them a planer thicknesser in the UK. We have a monster 1960s Wadkin in our workshop that will blast through 600mm wide slabs of oak.
Thats really awesome
Truly a lost talent. Great video and so much respect for your craft. Would love to win a butter knife but the video is a gift within it self. Thank you for sharing
3:35 (ish) that blade flip, that's the work of a man who'd done this for a LONG time
Easy one you know how.
Very cool!
Amazing!
just loved that blade roll up!
Cool idea!
I think your dad needs a bigger wedding ring!!! 😂😂😂😂. Nice video, enjoy the time with your family!!
Thank you for this Video and Greetings from Austria!
Nice work guys. . Greatings from Slovenia
Can't wait to see the final product!
wow thats nice a swedishe butter knife would like to have one that you and your dad made
That jigsaw (edit: actually band saw) blade fold absolutely needs to go into a Satisfying Videos compilation!
Ummmm, bandsaw???
@Kevin O I have no recollection of this video I watched 2 years ago and made a mistake in my comment that didn't change the intent of the comment itself and was corrected by another commenter long ago. But yes you sir are correct, it is a band saw blade and not a jigsaw blade. I guess there's a reason I'm watching these videos and not making them. At least I got to experience the majesty of that fold again!
Beautiful, Wish I could get one.
Frank from Canada
Great shop.... I just remembered that I have some Ironwood that I cut about thirty years ago. It is well named. Almost tossed it several times as it has some checks, but this will be an awesome project for it. Not as pretty as your cedar (?), but really TOUGH. Thanks - took a screen shot for the pattern :-) Also have a bunch of bits of walnut etc. lying around. Great channel.
Yeah, you better use cedar. Butter can be though cookie. I've seen hungry people with slice of bread in one hand and broken ironwood butter knife in other one. And tears of despair on their faces. Oh the humanity... Don't be fool like them, use cedar. And for best results, do not use anything thinner than 2 inches.
If you want a wooden knife that will cut, try Macassar Ebony.
Great video to start my day! Can I ask who plays the second song?
Nice music !
Nice. I do enjoy your videos! Despite my last comment, which had little to do with you. You guys go first class on your tools. I saw that Festool Rotex!
Great butter knife video
Pretty cool what you can do with wood, I saw a lot of your videos, keep going!
I gave you a thumbs up just for how you folded the saw blade.
Nice music
Amazing.
Almost like special Olympics
Reminds me of the little wooden spoons the popcycle man gave you with a cup of ice cream.
Amazing video. Great talent making the knives. I hope I win one.
Don't be silly man. Do you think that swedes would part with HANDMADE SWEDISH BUTTER KNIFE MADE BY REAL SWEDES FROM REAL SWEDISH FIREWOOD IN SWEDISH WORKSHOP.
Try that shit in IKEA and see what happens.
Good luck you unswedish heathen.
How he folded that Blade up was kool
Like the knive! Love the music in the first part! Can you tell me more about That ?
Great shop And video
