That butter knife is a wonderful gift. So nice to work with your dad on this creation.
There is nothing better than homemade German bread fresh from the oven topped with butter! Beautiful craftsmanship!
So nice to see farther & son working together, nothing like see a piece of timber come to life.
Thank you. My dad was a kid from the depression of the 1930's and made everything by hand, Thank you for the memory's and tears.
So sweet for you to have this beautiful time with your Dad. and he with you 💕
So patiently and lovingly crafted! Brings tears to my eyes. You are so, so lucky, Simeon, to have such a Dad. I can certainly see where you and your brothers have gotten your work ethics and skills!!! Tell Dad I say "Thank you, thank you for sharing!!"
Thanks. I will.
Anita Logan I totally agree. These things are what legacy is made of.♥️
Incredible. I care for a 95 year old Swedish woman in California. She has several of these little wooden things in her silverware drawer and I had to ask what they were. I didn't know there was such a thing. I was amazed. Hers are just one thickness all the way down, not like your handles, and yours are soooo beautiful. I love old fashioned things in the kitchen. Very cool.
WOW!!! The craft of hand made art such as this butter knife your dad has made, has pretty much gone by the wayside. I love watching this process and having it take me back, I've always said, "I was born three centuries to late". 😀,,, tell your dad he is a master of this art. What a GREAT looking piece!!! Thank you for sharing, Simeon.
Thank you! I will let him know.
Lol! Born 300 years too late? You would be saying the exact opposite once you got that first toothache! I do agree, sadly, that woodworking is becoming a lost art.
Its not really lost. There are lots of woodworkers out there. However, most in Western countries would rather buy Chinese made goods made with near slave labor because of the cost of making things the proper way seems too "high" for many buyers.
what a beautiful knife. I am too old to have this but anyone who gets it should be aware of the work that went into it. Nothing is hand made anymore and this is a work of art and dedication. I hope whoever gets them are appreciative of the work and love that went into it.
Beautiful!! I like when you finally got to spreading the butter!! It's not only functional, but a gem in its simple two-tone craftsmanship.
I really appreciate the love and family legacy you exhibit. It warms my heart greatly! Thank you for sharing your family and farm with all of us!
I want one of these so bad, this fine craftsmanship is a dying art. they are awesome!
This was so satisfying to watch
Outstanding Simeon, your father is the Star of this episode. Without saying a word, the video speaks volumes. Makes me want to have some bread with butter. Thank you for posting.
I know. He is pretty good.
My father was a carpenter watching this brought back so many memories, Tack så Mycket
The simplicity of design makes these an ageless utensil.
Simeon, your realationship with your DAD is very special. Thanks for sharing this heartwarming video.
What a nice little project, and something so useful and practical. Nice job 👍🏼
What a wonderful craft! Thank you guys for showing.
I love handmade pieces. My husband makes furniture, we keep all the prototypes. I can appreciate the work that goes into making The Famous Swedish Butterknife. That is a monster planer...
Just amazing. So much love and care going into each butter knife being crafted. They turned out simply beautiful. God Bless.
Thanks.
Fine craftsmanship. Anyone would be proud to own one of your hand made butter knives.
what a beautiful gift to give a grandson from a dying grandpa, he will remembered it his whole life.love you JALEN.
Alas, I gave up my biggest time waster = Facebook, 2 years ago. I am more productive now. I will definitely check out your parents' blog though. ;-) The BUTTER KNIVES ARE BEAUTIFUL !! What skill and creativity your dad has. You are lucky. Learn all you can from your parents Simeon. I love your work, your way of life.
I just love watching people make something of nothing. Very satisfying.
Brilliant. Joy to watch it come to life.
I've not seen one of these.... I want one! However, a prize possession of mine is my grandmothers wooden lefse stick handmade for her by my Swedish grandfather. Its beautiful and skillfully crafted.
What a beautiful part of your heritage to keep alive and pass down.
A piece of art....!!!! TY for sharing, Simeon
Butter has always held a special place in our family. I know that Mom taught us all to make butter when we were kids and she had learned it from her mom, a German immigrant to the US. But I think the true love of butter comes from the Swedish side of the family. Dad used to tell the story of my great grandfather (min farmors far) and how he loved butter on his toast. But they grew up in the Depression of the late 1920's and the 1930's. Dad used to tell of how Papa would take his rye toast and pass it in circles above the butter on the table, saying, "I sure love butter on my toast." He would wave the toast over the butter and then eat it dry because as much as he loved butter, they were too poor to buy very much of it and he saved it for the grandkids. My brother and his wife adopted two children from Russia years ago. When my niece and nephew were about four years old, my brother Eric took them to breakfast after church one Sunday. Their food had been served and the waitress came back to see if there was anything else that anyone needed. Alex looked up at her and said, "I would like some butter please." The waitress left and came back with one of the small, white paper cups with ball of whipped margarine in it and placed it on the table next to him. Eric said that Alex leaned forward and looked at the pale yellow glob in the paper cup, looked up at the waitress, looked back at the cup, looked back at her and said, "This isn't butter. We're Fritches and we eat butter." The waitress was stunned and Eric said he about fell off his chair! He had no idea where Alex came up with that line, but it does tell the deep connection to butter that our family has!
Haha, that is funny. It's true though. There is such a difference in butter today. My sisters fiancé said that his grandparents were farmers and they ate one pack of butter every day.
Beautiful and functional! Awesome! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Simple and beautiful. Nice stuff you did there.
Simply thank you, beautiful butter knife.
Beautiful video. Love the music and close ups of the knife. Can almost smell the woodshop. Thank you for all you're time & effort!
Thank you for watching.
Nicely done - craftsmanship is top notch. Wouldn't mind owning one of those knives.
They are so beautiful! I want to get some. Your Dad did such amazing work.

Beautiful work. My brother-in-law is from Sweden and introduced me to Bregott. Probably the greatest butter ever created.
Awesome. I miss woodshop in high school. I have to get one of your knives.
Nice work, loved the attention to detail
That is really beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
These are amazing!
So beautiful and so simple....well done!!!
Beautiful work.
Beautiful work. Reminds me of a set of homemade knives my Grandparents had.
Those are very awesome!!! I've never seen such a butter knife.
I have been sculpting and selling spoons and wooden utensils for 20 years, and I enjoyed your video so much. We use mineral oil in our finish because, as others have pointed out, vegetable oil can become rancid. I am mostly concerned about vegetable oil on utensils to be sold because of the prevalence of peanut allergies. Butter too can become rancid, so we use detergent when we wash our utensils, and we suggest re-oiling whenever the piece feels dry. Mineral oil can be found in the laxative aisle of your grocery/drug store, and Vaseline works well on any wood.
Beautiful knife and video....Thanks!
Very nice craftsmanship
I have been looking forward to part 2 .... nice job pops ...
Wow beautiful knife always awesome to see master craftsman at work
Beautiful knife... Thanks fo sharing "The Making Of"... from the tree to the table :)
So beautiful!
Love your butterknife, I'm a woodworker and Woodturner and seeing your vidio of making your butterknife gives me an idea of something I can make for Christmas present. I will have to try copying it with hard maple & walnut hope mine comes out as good as your dads. Since seeing your vidio on using wood chips for a garden I have saved all my wood chips in a bin for a year and next summer will use them for tha garden. I'm always anxious to see every vidio you do thank you
I like the butter knife videos allot. You father is talented. Hope you can share more of that talent with us.
Pure craftsmanship 🖒👍

How absolutely beautiful.
Wow. I love your craftmanship.. I have never seen a band saw that big. Fantastic knife also.
I totally enjoyed this video.
But I enjoy all of your videos.😄❤
Beautiful! It was fun to see it in action, too.
I truly enjoyed watching your videos on making a butter knife. So much work goes into something so delicately hand crafted. I loved the choice of music as it was satisfying to watch just like Daybird and the others said. I liked seeing the skills
I just made a couple of these for Christmas presents from a single piece of beech but I never thought about putting scales on like a real knife. Nice work

Just wanted to say thank you for posting. Would give anything to have a video of my father and I working on something together. The man knows his stuff and I've seen several of your videos and can say that so do you. Great video man.
So labor intensive with a beautiful result.
Wow! Very nice!
Very cool. The drill press sander was pretty slick. Takes a lot of patience to do that, or any kind of woodworking. Nicely done.

Wow so beautiful! I'd love one ❤
Very nice. I wouldn't spend that much effort crafting a butter knife UNLESS I was selling it ... AND for a high price. My Oneida spreads butter just fine.
