Found this to add to the Soundtrack information on IMDb, to see if there's any further information here I can include, third Gogol Bordello thus far in just the first two episodes. :) At this point I suspect they'll be a regular appearance. The other two songs I found and added (the title music and Episode 1's end title) were also quite European in nature. I previously knew Gogol Bordello from a performance they did with Madonna mixing her La Isla Bonita with their Pale Tute, I've watched that video SO many times!
Thank goodness I'm not the only one!! Was obsessed with their Gypsy Punk album years ago & when my husband started watching this show I IMMEDIATELY could hear their influence.
Man, I was just listening to Immigraniada earlier and it struck me how amazing an experience it would be to attend a flogging Molly show with Gogol bordello on the tour with them. That had to be crazy and perfect.
I have been wearing purple for the last 20years. I get lots of good comments which make me feel good. I have just found this song. I am 80years young.xx love it
Just saw this was uploaded 15 years ago. That doesn’t make me feel old, that makes me want to connect my phone to a battery bank and blast it through my PA speakers nonstop all day and all night
"It's one of the very few songs I wrote for a girl. I just moved in with my girlfriend in New York. We had a neighbour: an old woman who was always dressed in purple head to toe. She was clearly bonkers. So whenever my girlfriend and I had an argument and she would start screaming at me, I would say: you might as well start wearing purple now." -Gogol Bordello
Been listening to this song for years and had no idea what the point was, but I love it. That is absolutely hilarious, and defintely something I would do/say! Love it, man!
@@juliaistominaoden5801 I always took it as "Embrace insanity for me." or "Let's be crazy together." "Purple" is also used to describe writing that's over the top and florid. So I look at it as symbolizing insanity and self-indulgence. I think it's the idea of letting loose and being yourself in a relationship.
I saw them last summer and they blew the crowd away. It was my favorite part of Riot Fest, which I really didn't want to go to, but they made the day 5000 kajillion times better.
Eugene Hutz, The lead singer and song writer of Gogol Brodello is a genius. He is absolutely incredible on stage. The entire band is awesome as well. I've watched a couple interviews of Eugene and even his English is very articulate, expressive, and enunciated. He has said his music and song writing is his religion. When you see him perform it comes straight from the heart.
Saw Gogol Bordello in DC last week :D During the whole thing it felt like I was continuously going to burst with happiness. The concert ended and the whole band went offstage and out of sight but we, the entirety of the audience, we wouldn't budge! We were like vultures and we wanted MORE Gogol Bordello. The band walked back in one by one, booze in hand, with Eugene declaring "we could go on all night." I lost all sense of time but if i'm not mistaken they gave us almost an extra hour!!! It was a truly remarkable night. Thank you members of Gogol Bordello. Would attend again and again and again.
+Saleh Alarfaj I get to see em at BottleRock on the 29th. Going for Chili Peppers, but looking up unknown artists on the lineup and OMG!... totally digging this!
Saw them years ago at the 930 club in DC. It was one of the most balls-out, insane, fun, (drunk) concerts I've ever been to. I don't say this about a lot of bands, but I'd go see them anywhere, anytime, even if it was a street corner.
I love playing this song at open mic nights, jam sessions, anyplace I can get a bunch of musicians together. It's a two-chord song, fun as heck, and ANYBODY can solo wildly over that chorus vamp. One time at a convention I started with my fiddle and a buddy with a kazoo, and by the end of it we had a purple conga-line weaving through three ballrooms.
Thank you😊 Almost broke my brain trying to remember where I heard it... Love this movie. When my husband wants to say No, he used to say "Grandfather said it's impossible"😅
I went to Ireland on a class trip (originally from America). One night, my friends and I visited a small set of islands called the Erin Islands. There was a festival going on. We were drunk. My friend pulls out a Ukulele and we start singing Start Wearing Purple. The locals took a liking to us for this and joined in a bit. My sister went a year later. Asked about us. The locals said they remembered us fondly for it
Hutz says the song is about a crazy neighbor he once had while living with his then-girlfriend. The neighbor was an old lady who used to dress in purple head-to-toe. According to Hutz, the woman was "clearly bonkers." When Hutz and his girlfriend had an argument, the girlfriend would scream and Hutz would respond by saying "you might as well start wearing purple now."
Thank you for explaining! haha I just thought this guy was crazy. I have a dance class and we're learning a choreography to this song and it was really curious to me so I looked it up lol
I always felt this should be used in a joker intoduction scene. From.beginning untill just after the drop and something significant should happen between drop and second build up.
Creature commandos reminded me of this song. I’m pretty sure I saw this band perform this song live I can’t remember which show but I remember this song and how much I liked it. But it’s been so long.
There is nothing better than hearing this played over the loudspeaker system after another pathetic Minnesota Vikings loss. Heard it years ago and could not believe it. I sang as loud as I could. I was so happy to hear this band, I forgot about the loss.
Heard this song while reading the credits for the movie:EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED. The movie blew me away. Such humor combined with such a serious story. Liev Schrieber wrote the screenplay from the novel and directed it. Absolutely brilliant. If you haven't seen it, you owe it to yourself to do so. As for this song, it wants to make this 65yr old women get up and dance, and to wear purple.
I totally came here for the same reasons! I heard gypsy music in some of my local tv series, and instantly thought of this song that i havent heard in 3-4 years!

Every time James Gunn shows something on Instagram about Creature Commandos, he uses they're songs. First was My Gipsy Auto Pilot, then this one, the last one is American Wedding right now. If people will go to one of these songs, because of that show, i was here first. I don't blame you XD

this song has lived rent free in my head for years. Thanks to Creature Commands for the reminder of its charming amusement

@jarredpaul5408 yeah it was on St. Patrick's day from what I remember, and they both put on a great show.
Just got here after watching Creature Commandos, James Gunn choice of music is just incredible
Straight up! They used korpiklanni at the end of ep 1 too. Goated soundtrack already

My lovely older neighbour Lavender only wears Purple.
Personally I don't think I have any pure clothes.😢
You are the meaning of the song
💜💜💜
Had streaks of purple at our wedding 1991
mArried with purple streaks in blonde hair.
I used to DJ weddings and I would always play this song once everyone's had a few drinks, it never failed to get the party going
What a great idea!! Lol
Could be the drink
This is the song we requested to transition from the wedding to our reception, its a great wedding song LOL
That's an... interesting choice for a wedding.

Who's here from Creature Commandos?
I mean, I have loved Gogol's CDs since Multi Kontra Culti vs. Irony, but I was happy to hear them throughout CC.

Yeah, can’t get this damn song out of my head, and I hate it.
You really have to see them live to truly appreciate. Their energy is off the charts!! So much going on all at once
I agree so much
I saw them last summer and they blew the crowd away. It was my favorite part of Riot Fest, which I really didn't want to go to, but they made the day 5000 kajillion times better.
One of the best nights of my life for sure! London was lit up in a gypsy frenzy!
This song should have own genre, now on i'll call it DRUNK PUNK !

Just discovered this band on CBC Radio 1. LOVE these guys!! What a fun band! New fave.
I started to wear purple because of this song. Changed my life. 👍
My cousin and I got a noise complaint because we were blasting this and stomping around his apartment at 3am. 10/10 would recommend.
I stole a bike and sang this song at 3 am on my way home. It was glorious!
That's hilarious I can just picture that. Perfect! 🤣
You are my kind of people

Liev Schreiber was genius in casting Eugene in, Everything Is Illuminated. I love that this song played over the end credits.
I can't quit listening to these guys. Everything they do is great but I love the feel of their acoustic sets.
Did you ever see them sing with Madonna live laista bonita pretty damn good
Our teacher was playing this on the last day of school and it was a blast!
