I was sitting at an outdoor bar in Knoxville, TN several years ago with some friends and suddenly Eugene just comes walking down the street alone. The man had a huge aura about him. I just yelled out holy shit hey! at him and he smiled and waved like yes its me and i know. Hes the only person ive ever bowed to as they passed by. Legend.
At Roskilde Festival in 2009, Lil Wayne cancelled his performance, and they needed to find a replacement. They got Gogol Bordello to fill in. That was one my overall best music expiriences, and one of the best thing that has ever happened, in the history of live music.
The energy here just screams out loud, "We're alive, we're alive, we're alive!" It's the most life-infused, primal-screamed, punk-rockingest music I've heard in decades. AMAZING!!!! Peace, people!
They absolutely killed Bonnaroo. I've never seen a crowd captivated in dancing like lunatics for 2.5 hours. Thanks Gogol for keeping it real in a time where music doesn't have many OG's.

That little comment by David Letterman, "Have you ever been to Wyoming?" is the funniest thing he has ever said. I'd love to see these guys live, they look like they have such energy on stage. Looks like it would be a great show. I bet they would do great at Bonnaroo.

Eugene even pointed to me while singing the lyrics "sweet baby girl!" I was so dazed with joy and adrenaline that I didn't even realize I had my head resting on the shoulder of the guy next to me. It was a weird realization. They have so much energy that you can feel surging through the crowd, one collective swarming mass sharing each others' sweat.
I wish this is the mainstream music instead of mind damaging bullshit we hear all the time...gogol bordello has literal, musical and contemplating style to offer
I haven't seen that much wild energy out of a rock performance since Rory Gallagher, The Who and Queen!! HAHAHA damn, so much fun watching them perform!

They completely overshadowed the Primus set that followed. And by the way, I've seen Claypool/Primus live a grand total of 9 times and have been a fan for years. Until that concert I had never even heard of Gogol Bordello. I left that show completely in love with Gogol, and very tired of Primus.
Everytime I see these guys, they get better and better! I was in the front group of people at the APW. The energy in that pit was unlike anything Ive ever experienced with any other band. No meatheads throwing random punches or douchebag metalheads stepping all over people. Just fun loving people dancing and celebrating as a mass. These guys are what Ive been looking for in music for over 13 years. FUCKING LOVE IT!!!
No subtlety at all just 100% in your face genuine passion and love for what they do. If a band could be expressed as pure joy for what they do Gogol Bordello comes the closest.

Another one of my favorite bands, They Might Be Giants, really got their launchpad on Letterman. I miss him so much.
He did a lot for Warren Zevon. You should look at his first appearance on the show.
