      I’d imagine that the Japanese bikes aren’t lacking as such as they are excellent in their own right, it’s just when you compare them to their European counterparts that have poured a different kind of passion, philosophy (and money) in the last ten years or so you get this ever expanding difference. It’s the same with the cars.

    Not just the GX and Hayabusa has an IMU... My 2018 V-Strom 1000 had one.
    "Why would one buy a GT"?! Because some would say the GT looks a lot nicer.... some people don't really care much about electronic suspension... just one more electronic component to fail on a ride. I set up my adjustable suspension once and done. I'm good for twists and long rides. The GT comes with side cases and is about 15 pounds lighter than the GX but, the biggest thing is, I find the look of the GT a lot better. Sleek!
    Great vid by the way!

    • @inked-96
      @inked-96 3 місяці тому

      Can you educate me...
      Is the IMU really needed?
      I was looking at buying a used 1000GT. They're around 5k cheaper than a new GX.. i know an IMU offers more safety, but is it really worth it over used GT? Will it always save you in the rain mid corner?
      All I've read on comments comparing the GT to the Ninja is IMU this, IMU that...

    • @twotone3426
      @twotone3426 3 місяці тому

      @@inked-96 Don't get me wrong, an IMU is definitely a great safety measure / tool to have BUT, we should never rely on these electronics to save our bacon and/or more importantly, replace riding skills, bike suspension set-up and a great set of tires.... people need to stop being cheap with rubber!
      I put Michelin Road 6's on my bike and it made a world of a difference with traction. I also went from the stock rear size of 190/50/17 to 190/55/17 to help lean better in the twisties.
      People need to learn how to properly approach corners to dampen the front suspension to get ultimate grip, learn to trail break, LOOK at where you want to go and then when to accelerate out of the corner and you should be all good.
      Stay away from the inside corners because it's where the gravel and sand is because of stupid drivers but mostly large trucks hitting the shoulders.
      So in short, there's no cons of having an IMU and there is a benefit for sure but do I think it's all that necessary? No.

    Shame for the higher pegs and not having the side cases as standard, but overall a great machine. It was time for Suzuki to introduce something like this. Overall a lot of riders were expecting it, but it still feels a surprise. It also has a center stand as an option and this is just cool. Got my like here. Keep it up bro.

    It's really interesting to see the town where I live being shown on a Chopsy video!
    Right at the beginning (around the 2:00 min mark) I can see that you were all around Guincho (the specific place also called Quinta da Marinha) in Cascais. I live an odd 9 kms away from there by car/bike (between the road in 2:49 and the roundabout in 10:00, the roundabout being like 3 mins away from me). Sad that I couldn't see any of you all on the road, even if just for a good old biker greeting.
    It is nice to see other people from abroad enjoy, what essentially are, my local roads. Have a good one Chopsy, maybe one day I won't miss such an opportunity.

    Nice vid but a few things; I get a bit fed up with constantly wanting more Bhp or ‘aggressive engine characteristics’; not everyone wants that.
    If the pegs were lower then someone shorter would just complain they’re too low, so you’ll never win.
    The last time I bought a GS it never came with vario panniers but I’ve never seen anyone complain about that.
    It just kind of feels like extreme nitpicking; it’ll be super reliable, I like the looks and it’s cheap for what it is. Nice vid Chopsy but just a few things that get to me after a while.

The ergos on a adv bike definitely life changing BUT when picking up the speed and dealing with wind the taller bike doesn’t work. And if the pegs aren’t lower then what’s the point? This 150/152hp engine based on the legendary K5 engine and used in every 1000cc 4 cylinder Suzuki (except for the GSX-R1000) is without a doubt amazing, however since you commented that it doesn't have a lot of bottom end it got me thinking what if Suzuki makes a GSX-S1300GX (or GSX-S1340GX) using obviously the Hayabusa engine. It would be stronger everywhere.

      The Suzi has more midrange. That K5 motor is legendary . You need to ride one. Top end power is very useful. You use it for tremendous acceleration which is always great fun which is one of the main reasons for owning and riding a bike. The Suzi is much nicer looking. The fit and finish looks very good too. Everyone seems to rave about that K5 engine but the Ninja 1000sx (which doesn't get much love) beats it everywhere, except if you're over 9000rpm. Nice review. Looking forward to part 2. Seems decent & typical Suzuki. A few compromises & corners cut but mechanically bulletproof & they give you what you need if not always what you want. Speaking of which why not just put some decent tyres on it as standard as the cost is minimal & would make a huge difference. As for the GX v GT, I guess the difference is the GT is analog, cheaper & sportier than the GX. Personally if I wanted a sports tourer, I''d go for the GT for those reasons.

    Chopsie - watched your review as well as Neevsey’s on MCN. Suspension sounds trick, and getting feel on electronic suspension is a challenge (I bought a non-electronic 17 S1000R as the electronic version was very numb when you are “full sized” chap with body mass in the three digits). Wish Suzuki would provide brakes with feel, as BMW, Ducati, Aprilia and KTM seem to be able to do. Suzuki also tends to put “ok” rubber as OEM - a set of Rosso IV would make a world of difference. To fix those issues you close the gap to an XR

      @@gerokatseros Thanks mate. It is a lot about your previous bike. I rode many bikes, even some very powerful and extremely torqy, but the Tracer 9 has just enough torque. At least for me. Recently I rode the latest Guzzi and Ducati, but I didn't notice a huge difference in torque among all of them. To be honest, I rode them "normally". The difference is evident if you compare it to the BMW latest 1250 and 1300 cc boxer. There the Tracer is not inline, evidently. You have to try the GX. I am also interested to try it.

    Like the weight 500lbs wet if it's real (I'm a Ducati guy and they tend to exaggerate sometimes)... don't see any power numbers but for a bike to meet the "superbike on stilts" metric IMO it needs more than 160hp (and a 160hp bike better have TORQUE because it'll be competing with 200hp bikes like the M1000XR - the SBoS king of the hill by a wide margin currently IMO).
    Even if it doesn't quite hit the superbike level... it looks like what I'd describe as a REAL sport tourer (most bikes people think of as ST's are way too fat IMO... I'd say that 650lb bikes are not "sport" anything).

Why spend thousands of pounds on tall lanky/flash electronic suspension and other wizardry but then leave off an important thing like a centre stand it beggers belief. This bike might be appreciated by folk who are tall with long legs, but bang for buck the GT version is the one I would buy, especially as it would suit my shorter inside leg and save quite a few thousand pounds at the same time.
