- Well- the bad news keeps rolling. It seems Xbox is Shutting down Toys for Bob's studio space/Office and moving them to remote work... Let's talk about it

The news have been corrected, specifically TFB's office has been closed, the studio is still in.
Yeah, I knew that the news would be corrected.

@@teamsonicchannel4400to program you need 2 things. A pc and an internet connection. The collaboration tools needed to work remote they will already have been using to document plans and progress, as well as share their work. Microsoft has excellent VPN tooling, so the computers will act like you're still in office. Only difference is that a lot of walking over to someone's desk is now replaced with sending them a message on Teams.

With the recent layoffs, I think whatever plans on TFB's slate have been drastically altered.
If they are firing a bunch of contracted employees, that's still bad because that is still a bunch or employees losing their livelihood and no longer being part of the team. Contracted employeess are employees, it's just a scummy legal loophole to avoid paying them benefits, proper pay and/or the protections of regular employees.

@GivemeSpyroorGiveMeDEATH they have a bad habit of obtaining IPs and such and then just never doing anything with them. So maybe not "everything" but they do ruin a lot.

Crash and Spyro had successful comebacks. Damn shame that this is probably what causes them to get shoved back into the closet of IP.

Most non-nintendo platformers are irrelevant nowadays.
It just gets worse and worse, after all they went through and what happened to Vicarious Visions. Toys For Bob did so much for us and they were for years the most important game studio to me, losing them would hurt so bad.

Xbox has gotten Toys 4 Bob a new office... Its within the wider Microsoft land area.. This seems to Xbox folding Toys 4 Bob into the Xbox Game Studios family of studios.. Instead of leaving them with Activision.

Microsoft never had a good mascot platformer. Them buying studios is their way of acquiring platforming games so those franchises never make games again.

This is already a chaotic time for TFB and other studios- why would you panic people even more with such a clickbaity title if it's just the office shutting down and not the team itself? I was so panicked and also very angry at Xbox, because I love Spyro The Dragon and Crash Bandicoot from my inner childhood as I see them as PlayStation mascots.

okay got off work and watched.. it's... it's still really troubling news. I do not like how this is being treated one bit. Seriously, what happened? Why? It just still feel like big lie on Xbox's end after basically going 'You'll be safe in our hands.'......gets rid of everything.
Well this is worrying news for Crash Bandicoot 5 and especially Spyro the Dragon 4, first a lot of Toys for Bob people got laid off, and now the studio is potentially being shut down. This makes me sad for both Crash and Spyro, I am however more sad for Spyro since Crash Bandicoot got all new games after N sane Trilogy while Spyro pretty much got nothing after the Reignited Trilogy.
Spyro did appear as a guest character in Crash Bandicoot spin-off games but that doesn’t mean as much then when you get your own games where YOU are the star.
Toys For Bob has already been thrown in the CoD mines as a support studio since Crash 4. Crash Team Rumble flopped as an online multiplayer arena game.
They’ll be remote and still have jobs, but probably will never get anything like Spyro 4 coming out from them now.
I'm starting to think we were right to panic with the Microsoft acquisition. You can't trust a single word coming from any of their representatives. I'm personally prepared for the worst and won't expect any more game from neither Spyro nor Crash anymore...

I was really sad when I saw this title. I'm really looking forward for a new Spyro game called Spyro 4 and also introducing Cynder there too. We haven't seen Cynder last time since Skylander Academy. But I hope toys for Bob is still going on and hoping for Spyro 4 in the works... maybe a spyro movie and a Cynder game. I do have ideas for a Cynder game and dive into her past!

I was fuming last night when I heard the news and I wanted to cry. unfortunately all my friends basically called me a big baby and said they are just games. I was pretty pissed at them to say the least so I didn't even have anyone to talk to, to vent my emotions. so when the news was corrected and it was confirmed that the studio wasn't shutting down I just broke down. Crash and Spyro have been huge parts of my childhood and to this day still 2 of my favorite series of all time. Microsoft is really screwing everything up and making it very hard for us as fans to think everything will be okay. all I can do is hope that it's miscommunication and that Microsoft will give support to TFB as well as other studios that were heavily affected.

Hopefully this doesn't affect future games. Working remotely didn't do too well for Crash 4. It's a good game but too difficult and some elements didn't feel like a Crash game (all platinums for 106% for example).
I was really upset to hear the unfortunate news for TFB and thought they were shutting down for good. It's a relief to hear that they're still working remotely. And I wished them the best.

I will say this is common around the country for a lot of businesses not just in the gaming industry. A lot of businesses are having to relocate to a smaller location especially as positions have become more remote

This is GOOD NEWS if they go! Activision has been damaging for the brand. N same trilogy was broken and they told us to fuck ourselves. Then crash 4 was even glitchier then that. Haven’t touched rumble tbh but I’m sure it’s broken too. Toys for Bob did better on Spyro but holy shit n sane trilogy and crash 4 2.0 were soul less broken pieces of shit 💩 and killed the brand worse then the mutant games. Tired of shovewear by grifter.

4:03 Allow me to clarify on that. Around 2021, there were 180 people working at toys for Bob so when 2024 came in, 86 were layoff. Which leaves a remainder of 94 employee still working at Toys for Bob in Remote locations.
I wish X-Box would sell Crash and Spyro to Nintendo so we can get off this roller coaster ride and have faith somebody is being supported to consistently put this IP to use again.
Also I blame X-Box for the multi-player only abomination that is Crash Team Rumble.

Studio still exists they are just based with Microsoft now. So it's not all bad. Hopefully this means Microsoft is gonna support them.... but we'll have to see.
This kind of stuff is exactly why I was always against Microsoft acquiring Activision, but I know many people who supported it were well-intentioned, including you CGE. None of us had any way of knowing for sure how it would turn out. I had a pessimistic mind on it, and unfortunately pessimism won out here. I can only hope this isn't the end of Crash and Spyro. in short: place where studio was is closed but employee will find new location to work on as independent studio, its like microsoft scapped contract with toys for bob, so studio itself will be free and find other place to work :D
