Years ago I happened to be safe harbor post road marina for a sailboat race with my college (had to get on the water somehow as I love the water). This place had sailboats everywhere…thought it was just another marina…and for some reason we had to walk through a storage/repair building to get to the boat we were taking out to Race the regatta. That’s when I saw it out of the corner of my eye. The Cat killer. As someone who grew up watching these fountains and cats duke it out in Michigan city every year I was blown away with excitement. Butterflies in my stomach from being able to walk up next to it. Nobody on my sailing team cared. They didn’t know what this boat was made to do and the history it had. As soon as we got to the sailboat I made up the excuse of needing to go use the bathroom and walked right back to the cat killer. Excitement and adrenaline flowing through my veins as I walked up to her. While walking around awkwardly in amaze (like little kids at a monster truck rally) I didn’t realize that someone had happened to be in the engine hatch working. I didnt notice whoever it was when we walked by earlier…. But it was Joe who popped his head out. Looking back He probably thought to himself who’s this weird kid staring at my boat in full blown sailing foul weather gear haha. Anyway he broke the awkward silence and said you want to look inside? I’m about to pull this motor out. I panicked and said no. But joe was nice enough to say come on climb up the steps and look. Once I got up the ladder I had gotten passed awkward excitement somehow and managed to tell joe I couldn’t believe what I was actually seeing right before my eyes. He went on to tell me that he was like me when he first saw it while spectating a race in key west and that he immediately wanted to buy it to have and race it. If you see this joe, thanks for showing me the boat and telling me a few stories about it. I really appreciated it as a fan!
If that Fountain had ever "killed a cat" it probably wasn't in a sanctioned race. The one time I know the boat passed a cat was in a poker run somewhere on the East Coast and even then it could not stay in front very long before the Mercedes Benz 44 MTI caught him and blew his deck cleats off.
Iconic boat..... Let's see met the cast of Gilligan's Island in about 69 70 I met Charlie pride I meant George strait I met all of van Halen in 1979 on tour that was all cool but I met Reggie fountain the legend....by far the coolest

Fountain racing proves once again the champions are
There is a Fountain racing out of Trinidad called "Cat Killer." Wonder if it's this boat.
Yes, it is. They purchased it.
Spectacular Racing .
Probably the fastest vhull on the planet. Fountain hull sterling power
Fastest Vhull is a 43' Outerlimits at 180.47. Fastest Fountain is somewhere around 172.
@@dieseldog00dude do your research before you comment. That was Fountain speed. Outer limits didn’t bother showing after they hit that.

better if you lose the music when the engine music is present, please :)
Fountain FTW!
Lose the music 🙄
You had good audio and you put garbage music over it. Why?
