It's 1974 in Vancouver, B.C. Canada and my friend Mumbles has a Donzi Sweet 16 with Chevy LT1 (370 hp) attached to a simple V-drive. We're wake-jumping behind the B.C. Ferries C class ships. Those were 7,000 Ton vessels doing 20 knots and the size of the wakes were crazy but that little Donzi blew through them like they were nothing.
I dont know anything about Boats, but I KNOW WHAT I LIKE..!! After watching many boat videos, never owned a boat personally, I have decided to Buy a Donzi with twin 1550 Mercs. Have not decided on the Color Yet. Excellent Video! Thank You and Respects, RH DSD
Beautiful boat. Dual V8's sound intense. I wouldn't want to pay for the fuel. I have read the engines need to be rebuilt often on these style of boats. Looks like an intense ride. Excellent craftsmanship with it.
@@DIRISHMAN2163 Very true. In most areas they are seasonal. And sitting in storage is hard on any engine. I've been very lucky with my 4 stroke Yamaha 115. It seems very reliable. It's not a speedster. But it does what I need it to do.

A big huge boat turning up like that 1 right there does is unfriggin heard of!! One amazingly powerful, beautiful, even glorious boat, she is!!!!What a bad ass beautiful beast she is indeed!

There's really nothing like a Donzi. They're reminiscent of floating Ferraris capable of maneuvering the roughest seas. And absolutely beautiful to behold.

No bouncing or skipping along the water, it just seems to hug the water, very smooth ride, even with extreme speed, nothing worse on the water when your picking up speed and the boat just starts pounding the surface of the water to the point you start losing control
I love that Donzi! I always look for it when I am watching the FPC Videos of the Poker Runs, and love how you Dad makes the helicopter struggle to keep up with him while they are taking video of him running at high speed lol. Will you be joining Dad on the Donzi during the Poker Run? Also the trailer is looking much better now with the repairs and new fenders.

I had the pleasure of riding in a 21ft donzi when i was about 15 (one of my dads friends) we hit about 85-90 & it was absolutely terrifying yet orgasmic at the same time.
As far as piston engines go, that is the sexiest sounding pair I have ever heard. I want a ride on that boat just to eargasm. And if on that ride, we ran alongside a CheckMate powered by an old JT3D gas turbine engine....woah.... stand back.

I’ve went 80-85 mph in a typical Donzi, but 120 is insane speed for a boat that size . I fear bow-tying would be irreversible in this case if it were to happen (been there)…

Before 1995, when I lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, I dated this guy who was the manager of Watertown Yacht Marina /Club on the Ohio River. It was a summer fling. What a fun summer it was. One of his clients, who owned the Montgomery Inn Boathouse, was prepping his cigarette boat to be transported to Florida. The only problem, was that it had too much fuel onboard. The client, Chuck Kubucky (sp), gave permission to the manager of Watertown to run out the fuel so the boat would transport lighter. He got the keys and I was given the tour of the boat. I was awe inspired. What I remember was seeing those beautiful Rolls Royce engines. We left the marina and headed down to the floating restaurants on the KY side of the river. We must have been going over 60 MPH...we were flying...what a rush. It was amazing experience....I even was able to grab the wheel for a short bit. Unforgettable.

I reupholstered an early 2000’s donzi, had twin 502’s. They spared no expense building that boat at the factory, except the interior, I’ve seen bayliners with a better built interior, just pure cheap. However it looks like with your boat they have definitely improved that area of the build. Looks really good
These boats are cool...I get it. But what do you really do with one of these besides blast around in the harbor or within a few miles of shore? They don't really hold enough fuel to go anywhere do they? I guess in California you could go to Catalina or something.

These boats are cool...I get it. But what do you really do with one of these besides blast around in the harbor or within a few miles of shore? They don't really hold enough fuel to go anywhere do they? I guess in California you could go to Catalina or something.

That is a cool boat. My brother had an Outer Limits, but I have to say his little Donzi was more fun. On Lake Michigan, it would get squirelly... or rotate a bit at high speeds. Scary but fun.
