As a Professional artist, I really enjoyed this series. Looking forward to another season. Doing art as your career isn't for everyone. Not everyone can take the thing they love to do and turn it into a job. For some artists turning their passion into a job ruins it for them.
Ever since high school, I realized I enjoyed drawing a lot and put my sweat and blood while sitting on the carpet with a foldable chair as my desk. One day, I showed it to a "family member" who used to be a art director, and he totally pointed so many flaws and told me I had to draw like him if I am ever going to get a job. So, I threw away my dream and worked towards practicality. I studied hard at subjects even though I hated it deep inside, I learned how to be positive with Law of Attraction and positive mindset and exercise habits. I landed a job at IT now while meeting someone special. That special someone realized that I am not a IT person, but an artist. Now, at 26, I'm spending every ounce of my free time to make art as career, as I always wanted to do. It feels like I have much to catch up, but I think it's doable! TL;DR: Don't throw away you dream for practically (money), it will hurt you in the long run as it has done to me. I obeyed, and I threw myself away. I'm now trying to unlearn what I unwillingly forced myself to learn.
Well unfortunately you gotta think about it from a realistic standpoint as well You still need a source of income in order to live So chasing a dream that has no guarantee of success isn’t wise Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t pursue it. Because you absolutely should But you’ll still need a way to put food on the table until then And make sure it’s truly the path you want
I'm definitely very early in my art progess, so I can't comment on the school aspect, but as it relates to the mindset of the characters in blue period, you know, the way they look at art and think about it. The realizations of Yatora as well as the mental health aspect are very accurate. In that sense I can say it is a very accurate depiction of artists. Gonna watch episode 12 today, This show was amazing, I'd love a season 2
this anime made me cry so hard. i'm in fine arts university and it was a huge struggle to get in...and now it's even more of a struggle to go through each year of uni. my mental health is shit and being an art student is 100% NOT a good combo. and to top it all off, i can't even be sure of what i'll do with my future. i'm trying to become a content creator and i'm also currently writing a comic which i am planning to ilustrate as well. the life of an artist is so stressful and unsure. even when you achieve those goals like getting into art university, or selling your first painting, or taking part in your first art exhibition, it's always the fear of what you'll do with your future and your abilities as an artist.
@@Inauri i'm currently on my final year of uni. trying to pass 6 subjects i'm behind on and at the same time trying to prepare my final work for my graduation. it's a lot of work but i'll manage for sure. mentally i'm better and it helped a lot to just not take seriously everyone and everything in Uni... especially when it turns out the professor in charge of the building i'm in, is a sexual harasser/offender etc. i just simply realised i can't care about what others say about me and my art. and he was the only one out of all professors that gave me a hard time for no reason so it's whatever. anyways, i'm doing okay i'd say. i also got into cosplaying and going to comicons etc. and i'm trying to build a career as a cosplayer too.
The moment when you have made it to the uni after months of entrance preparation "no what?" Finding a calling and goal all over again, this feeling was depicted wonderfully.
I’m an architecture first semester student and the manga caught my attention before I started, and the anime came out exactly when I started, and I have been able to relate sooo much even though I am still studying something very different and also not in Japan, so for everyone doing something in the arts or just something that requires creativeness you will be able to relate
Yeah, architecture major also learns art at the first three semesters but later will converge it with technique and engineering. That's why it's called as a hybrid of two contradicting knowledges, art and logic. I think this is also why architecture used to be the mother of all knowledge in medieval age, as most notable famous artists by that time are architect as well.
I was an architecture student before but stopped after realising that I only liked the art aspects of it and not the logic. Had more than decent grades but the feeling was just so wrong. So, I'll be soon taking on an art major as no matter how hard I suppress it, art really is what I want to do. First episode in, and what the teacher made me tear up.
@@neyoncrayon I‘m glad you realized it and now are going to do something you really want!! For me I don’t cancel out that opinion because I also like the arts more, but for now I really like both aspects while studying!
I'm an architect, so imma give you some advice for someone who already went through the wringer. If you want to practice architecture, don't forget to learn the BUSINESS side of it. Architecture school sets up a false expectation wherein everyone would become master architects, design their own projects, and whatnot. But thing is, it's a business. Unfortunately, due to the ungodly amount of subjects you would have to cover over the next 5 years, business management simply cannot be crammed into the curriculum. You would either have to learn the business side of things during your time as an apprentice, or do some studying on the side as soon as you can. Study some business management books, work summer jobs at an architecture firm, anything. That, and personality. Learn to become a likeable person. Principals of architecture firms are in the top seat not just because of their skills, but also their ability to ATTRACT CLIENTS. Learn to bring money into the company, and your position would be secured.
Would love to hear her insight on the entrance exam or prep school. As a college art student, Blue period really resonates with me especially when it comes to creating an art with a purpose. Though, Yatora is a fine arts major and I'm leaning more towards graphic design, it's all the same. You have to make a work with good composition as well as a compelling story. It's a struggle to birth out ideas every week only for it to be shut down by your professors. I remember we need to create 100 logos and symbols (+sketches and a term essay) in 2 weeks and getting harsh criticism from this one professor of mine. I've cried a few times watching the show because I've heard words I really wanted to hear lmao. Having to finally understand and relate to what an main character is going through (insecurities, physical health declining, and mental burnout) really helped me a lot. Since then I've been trying my best to create art every day.
As a non-artist, I really cherished the time I spent watching Blue Period. It allowed me to understand on a surface level the hardships and struggles of artists. I also loved the anime highlighting the quote "Just because you love making art it doesn't mean things will go your way" something like that (I forgot what episode Yatora told this).
I'm also a student of Fine Art University. Luckily, I have a happy time while studying there. Watching this interview make me feel like a reel of beautiful memories go through my mind ! Thanks for making this video !
Absolutely loved the first season of this and I hope we can see how Yaguchi's journey unfolds even more. It had lots of sensibility, emotion and real struggles 🤍
blue period is my most cherished anime :( i really want to pursue art but i can't so almost every scene makes me emotional and makes me overthink about my life. i really related to her saying keeping art as an hobby is an entirely different thing and it being insane
As a graduate illustration major, this anime came at the right time for me who is personally overhauling their entire portfoilo. Whilst looking for industry work. I'm glad this came out, I could've used this as a gateway when i was in highschool. I hope we get more animes about college and graduates going about trials and tribulations of their art careers.
I'm an animation student and I relate so much to Blue Period's story. I also started from zero like Yaguchi and had to work my way into college and it was the most challenging thing I've ever done so far. I do hope they keep making this anime. The manga is fantastic.
Blue period inspired me to reach my creative outlet again. Since I was a kid, I was encouraged to sketch and draw then I was interested in painting, then expanded to native beadwork and sewing. I gave up all of that for writing and now I hold this anime to my heart as I try to dive back into it. It’s a hobby to me, but to see passion and making it your life like Yatora did gives me hope. - czarina
I love this anime. The way it portray the life of a students struggling to decide what he really want to be. It's not only in art side but in general. How you choose your path, learning new skills and discovering something new about yourself while struggling to get there. I hope many students nowadays could watch this anime to inspire them.
Stop. The bashing of this anime by the manga fans are getting out of hand. You can't always compare manga versus anime. Whether you like it or not, both anime and manga are two entirely different art form. The anime is a decent of take of this story and I'm not sure if the animation production company could done a better job than it already did.
Yeahh I agree with her opinion, I started to know art more deeply and pursue it since I saw this blue period anime...Stories from the Blue period are closely related to everyday life, how the point of view of people who don't know about art, the difficulty of learning art, it's expensive for an art school and its equipment, and how do you make money from art. I hope the blue period anime gets season 2
I'm a self-taught artists so I don't think i have much say but it makes me happy cause i find that the struggles and emotions that i feel when i hone my art ard valid that it's not only me it made me wanna cry . My favorite was when he got shocked by the really good art i get easily discouraged and I beat my self alot for it makes me think that I'm shallow and not putting alot of work in so seeing that sort emotion is valid lifted some weight off my shoulders.
I love her feedback and vibe. If she can review the middle episodes towards the end that would be great. I went to art school for 5 years and I 100% agree that art school is for self discovery and expanding your knowledge and skills. My art school was kind of useless but I taught myself digital art and others things because they had the equipment and resources. I only spent money on a drawing computer when I developed the interest of wanting to animate or draw digital art. BUT its not to help you find a job or get a job offer. My art school was shut down due to fraudulent activity, but the environment and the wide perspective it offered me, I will never forget.
You remember when we gave crunchyroll our money and were told some of it went towards Japanese studios, I would of been happy as hell if Blue Period was the product of that money and clips like this of having a Japanese artist actually comment on the show be bonus material. Well done Netflix. 👏 With Castlevania, Komi, the Ghibli Movies, keep it up.

Im just gonna be real, if you come from a financially struggling family or want to pursue money, going into art school isnt too "promising" but having a career in art is all about networking and seeking experience so you do have to figure things out yourself and find what works rather than going straight into a corporate job like other majors. I religiously watch Blue period because I didn't choose going into art stream when I had the choice, so I try to experience art school through this anime. It made me want to pursue painting even if I didn't go to college.
I’m going to Art Uni next year and I was really worried I’d be worse than everyone else as I always put myself down when I see other’s work, but Yaguchi’s current drawings make me feel more confident in myself 😂😂 yet at the same time seeing that he drew more than 30 observational drawings within a short time span made me realise I was barely doing enough, so though I’m still around the 3rd episode, the anime has honestly been one of the most motivating things that caused me to draw more, and feel more confident that I’ll be able to improve my skills before school starts 🥰 But in general I love that this anime exists! I’ve never felt so understood before and though I felt the part about the mother’s hands was so cheesy, it still hit me pretty hard 😩😩
Japanese art school seems a lot harder to get in than in the US...I went to Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the acceptance rate is around 30%. However, tuition is sooo expensive 😭Paying just 4k per year would be a dream! As this person said, going to art school is mostly about the environment, seeing your peers' work, and making connections. I can't say it's worth the price to be honest though

Well unfortunately you gotta think about it from a realistic standpoint as well
You still need a source of income in order to live
So chasing a dream that has no guarantee of success isn’t wise
Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t pursue it. Because you absolutely should
But you’ll still need a way to put food on the table until then
And make sure it’s truly the path you want
I'm definitely very early in my art progess, so I can't comment on the school aspect, but as it relates to the mindset of the characters in blue period, you know, the way they look at art and think about it. The realizations of Yatora as well as the mental health aspect are very accurate. In that sense I can say it is a very accurate depiction of artists. Gonna watch episode 12 today, This show was amazing, I'd love a season 2
Check out the - even way more in depth and detailed manga of it then.
Oh btw you can take art on school it's nice to get assignments and tips it's not an extra course you can choose as elective! At least at my school
@@taeyim5083 Yeah I was considering this cause if the anime wasn'tgood in some manga readers eyes, I'm just thunking hoe good the manga could be😄
this anime made me cry so hard. i'm in fine arts university and it was a huge struggle to get in...and now it's even more of a struggle to go through each year of uni. my mental health is shit and being an art student is 100% NOT a good combo. and to top it all off, i can't even be sure of what i'll do with my future. i'm trying to become a content creator and i'm also currently writing a comic which i am planning to ilustrate as well. the life of an artist is so stressful and unsure. even when you achieve those goals like getting into art university, or selling your first painting, or taking part in your first art exhibition, it's always the fear of what you'll do with your future and your abilities as an artist.
🫂
How are you doing now ?
@@ΣέργιοςΣαββουλίδης okay :) nice if you’re doing better, good luck with it

The moment when you have made it to the uni after months of entrance preparation "no what?" Finding a calling and goal all over again, this feeling was depicted wonderfully.
bring her back! make her watch the whole thing lol

Been looking for a legit reactor for this anime and i finally found one. More insights from her please!
Now i want a yakuza to react to way of the household husband
I want a dead person to react all the isekai anime
PART 2 PLEASE I NEED MORE OF HER!!!! (or other art graduates are also welcome)
@@atrudokht wow, thanks a lot for sharing!

That quote was definitely something that resonated with me! I'm glad to find a kindred spirit!
I think it was, just because you love making art doesn't mean it is easy.
Really resonated with me.
@@shaisha6273 Are you an artist? I hope you're doing well despite the pressure and prejudice of people. I love seeing art in different forms.
I believe the line you’re referring too
“Just because you love doing something
Doesn’t mean it’s fun”
@@norysmo might be that one thanks!
Haven't watched the anime but I do read the manga. I'm so glad I discovered this diamond
I'm an animation student and I relate so much to Blue Period's story. I also started from zero like Yaguchi and had to work my way into college and it was the most challenging thing I've ever done so far. I do hope they keep making this anime. The manga is fantastic.
As an art student from Latin America, I related so much to this anime. 🥺💕🥴
I hope the next season comes soon. ✨
Love him so much the M. yatora…the manga and even having an actual artist react to it
She should also read the manga
little does she know that the manga is waaaaaay more relatable
Ikr
The manga is way better TTT
The manga probably the best I've ever read ngl. Too good..
Stop. The bashing of this anime by the manga fans are getting out of hand.
You can't always compare manga versus anime. Whether you like it or not, both anime and manga are two entirely different art form.
The anime is a decent of take of this story and I'm not sure if the animation production company could done a better job than it already did.
I really want to see more of her! please make a part 2!!
I would’ve loved to have seen her portfolio!

yes, this is what im looking for .. this kind of videos can make this anime getting more popular
Super interesting! Loved the video 🥰
Gran análisis hermoso trabajo Netflix 👌
You remember when we gave crunchyroll our money and were told some of it went towards Japanese studios, I would of been happy as hell if Blue Period was the product of that money and clips like this of having a Japanese artist actually comment on the show be bonus material. Well done Netflix. 👏 With Castlevania, Komi, the Ghibli Movies, keep it up.
havent graduate but i am majoring in art rn, I can say everything is spot on except maybe im not as dedicated and intense as the characters in this series and im kinda ashamed by it ngl.
What uni do u go to? I really wanna major in arts too but I'm conflicted on whether it's a good idea or not.. I'm scared It'll be too hard or I'll lose my motivation.. or not be able to make a living out of it and just study it pointlessly
@@sham2010 i go to Indonesian Institute of The Arts, and tbh since im class of 2020, all I've been doing is online learning and im actually losing motivation rn but i guess once i start offline classes, ill get my motivation back. Im also still figuring out things rn so im not sure. Im just gonna be real, if you come from a financially struggling family or want to pursue money, going into art school isnt too "promising" but having a career in art is all about networking and seeking experience so you do have to figure things out yourself and find what works rather than going straight into a corporate job like other majors. It may be less "predictable" but there's endless possibilities. So dont lose hope if you're really passionate about it! I myself chose this bc i just cant picture me doing anything but art and its something i kinda good at so there's that.
@@sham2010 maybe go to community college if you’re in the US? It’s important to figure out what you want to get out of it! There’s also trade schools for a more affordable, practical skill set. School is not the only option as well lots of online learning tools and communities in this day

Please I love her have her reaction for the whole season 😍
The anime if good but the manga is 1000000x better. Tsubasa Yamaguchi is a genius. You can really feel the ml's frustration or when he's so happy. Thank you Netflix for producing this anime.
I would love to see a follow up of this! Blue period is such an insightful series

Blue period is some real quality anime
I loved this format and her commentary was lovely! I couldn't go to art school when I was a teenager as my parents where scared for my professional future (so sad!) but I'm still passioned about drawing and art in general. I'll watch Blue Period for sure!
Shes so wholesome helpp 😭😭
i watched this anime by chance bc i was bored and i hold this dear to my heart. it depicts cold reality but at the same time gives u a hopeful idealistic feeling yet its borderline depressing. i love it eventho i’m not an artistic person but the feels it give off is universal kudos to the team

Blue period was literally a masterpiece
i'll deff watch this, when i'm not lazy lol this was very insightful! more of this!!!
i've heard many insightful tips from many creators to the "just leave your passion as a hobby" many youtubers, streamers and all sorts get burnt out as they have those as a job to see it differently for not so good ways and force to stream, make a video which isn't good.
I just stalked her Portfolio and wow it's amazing 😍😍😍😍
I want her to react to the entire series now 😭😭
2nd year illustration student here and blue period gets certain things bang on, like mental health and motivation wise. can’t comment on selection process as i’m studying in the uk :)

I hope there's a second season. The next events in his life are prettt dope
I bawled at that scene about the mom's hand it's so weird to see other's reactions
I hope there will be a season 2 of Blue Period😍
These commentary videos are really interesting! It’s cool to hear about the comparisons.
As a musician myself, there is so much I can learn from this lol
The charm of Blue Period is that, as another commenter mentioned above, it's themes are universal--and those in the arts (all of us!) feel seen and represented by the series in one way or another. This from a creative writing graduate. :)
The mangaka was actually a graduate from Tokyo University of the Arts
I religiously watch Blue period because I didn't choose going into art stream when I had the choice, so I try to experience art school through this anime.

I also gain much confidence because I feel like I relate to Yatora so I try to grow with him while watching
I’m going to Art Uni next year and I was really worried I’d be worse than everyone else as I always put myself down when I see other’s work, but Yaguchi’s current drawings make me feel more confident in myself 😂😂 yet at the same time seeing that he drew more than 30 observational drawings within a short time span made me realise I was barely doing enough, so though I’m still around the 3rd episode, the anime has honestly been one of the most motivating things that caused me to draw more, and feel more confident that I’ll be able to improve my skills before school starts 🥰
But in general I love that this anime exists! I’ve never felt so understood before and though I felt the part about the mother’s hands was so cheesy, it still hit me pretty hard 😩😩
U DID KNOW WHAT HE DID...
Man this is one of my fav last season. Its really good.
Even if i'm not into arts, this anime was a total blessing...great work
This is way too relatable.
This whole thing gave me anxiety, but it was needed. So thanks for that...
