As a drawer myself, and not a pro: It is hard to know if people would accept or reject your art styles, but given time, people will always have different insights. Don’t let it get you down if people reject your talents. Just keep at it and eventually you’ll improve your flaws, no matter how insignificant it is. And also, don’t be jealous of other people’s artwork that are better than yours. Being worried about it is not healthy. There’s plenty of people that may have a better art style than yours (or even theirs), but having your own unique art style is always the best choice to learn and adapt to for improvement. Sure, many use digital art, many choose old school pencil, pen, and markers (like myself). It depends on the situation you’re in now. If you have the requirements, go for it. Learn from it. Ask questions from friends and/or use a stream with chat feedback. And finally, don’t be afraid. It takes a lot of time, but in the end, if you’re willing to draw more and feel confident in yourself, the more you’ll be happy with your hobby.
1. Attend art class 2. Explore different techniques 3. Observe and draw 4. Attend prep school 5. Visit museums 6. Think outside the box (imaginative task) 7. Practice more 8. Experiment with different colors 9. Have fun !
Sometimes I wonder how people like this main protag exist. I think being hard working is a privilege not everyone can have. I wonder I can be like him right now...
I don't like you thinking that hard working is a privilege. It really isn't, and just saying that shows how someone feels like they don't need to do the work because they are lazy. There are people that can be hardworking if you plan and schedule how your gonna get better.
@@tri_iris6890 I don't think OP is necessarily completely wrong. OP probably meant having time to work hard could be a privilege to some people. I often heard along the lines "you make time to work" but some people just got other life stuff. For some, they are going to take some time while versus someone who has alot of time to spend as much effort as possible.
I had very bad experience at art university in design, it sucked all of our family budjet, and there were litterally no classes related to our profession, we were told to do art projects basically by our own resourses, and it was showed as an "artistic freedom", half of my classmates became severely depressed and i got a full on burnout, with no one around, including parents to understand what i felt. I finished the uni but because i learned absolute nothing and gained the heaviest artblock i felt like failure. And each time i see someone even mentioning art study, it hurts. Despite that, i still think, i want to go to master's or even repeat bachelor degree somewhere at the good place, if only i got to actually study arts like i dreamed, maybe i could heal this wound. It so upsetting to think that i waited so much to graduate high school, because i thought it was the worst thing i got to experience and university would be heaven after that. But it was somehow worse.
Jesus heck man, sometimes I feel like I'm learning nothing either, design too. But it's just us at this point, and we have to learn shit on our own sometimes.
And this is the kind of environment I wanted in the art institute I was studying in. The kids were sloppy, ditching, gossiping and the teachers wouldnt let us borrow books or tell us about the new techniques. One time my teacher told me the sky colour looked wrong in the setting ....so I asked her how to make it better. She said " its not my problem, fix it yourself." I was like exuse me? ur the teacher, u should teach us that...even if not atleast tell me to try and let her check afterwards...honestly she was just an art teacher in name.
I went to college for art for one semester, and it was a total waste of time and money. Since then, I've developed a different philosophy about art than most people. Art isn't about expressing yourself. It's about showing what you see in such a way that the layman can easily understand it. It's about making your skills useful to others through commissions. That's what made the Renaissance masters so famous even to this day. They didn't make art that "expressed themselves." Instead, they agreed to paint or sculpt something in return for a certain amount of money. It's about being useful to someone other than yourself.
That’s only half of the story. What you said it, is the grind that any member of the working class needs to do. Think of it this way: you work at a traditional job to earn your paycheck, then proceeded to use that paycheck on whatever you need or wish. For artists, those are the same. Artists did the “client’s project”, so they have the capital and leeway to pursue their personal projects. It felt like a total waste of time and money because you didn’t ended up liking art, and that’s okay. Now you know that art major isn’t for you. Expressing yourself is just another word for communicating yourself. Of course the end result would be different whether you’re saying things to be understood, or uttered purely for self-satisfaction. If you ask me, you need both and it doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive nor inclusive.
@@gurugurumawaru7869 I actually did like art. I carried a sketchbook with me whenever my family and I went on vacation. I even took one to Paris and London. What happened was that I found out that the A's I got in art classes in school were a lie. They led me to believe I was a better artist than I really was. When we submitted our pieces for review by the professor and our peers, mine always looked the worst by leaps and bounds. Everyone else obviously had more refined skills. I could see it. The breaking point was when my professor told me to make my picture more abstract, which is actually a very primitive and unrefined form of art. Expressing yourself is a near worthless pursuit in art. The Renaissance masters were not simply coming up with concepts in their heads and putting it to paper without reference to reality. Instead, they looked outside themselves for inspiration. They learned anatomy and how to properly paint the human form. They used great detail in their paintings and sculptures, and not abstraction. They spent their time doing this because it was necessary to develop their skills in such a way as to please the client. Michelangelo would even skip over some meals while working on a project he considered important. He and the others of the Renaissance made pieces like David, the Ghent Altarpiece, the Mona Lisa, School of Athens, painting the Sistine Chapel, sculpting for tombs, painting the Birth of Venus, etc. These projects would take months and even years to complete depending on what it was. They would even train other aspiring artists in their studios. Self-expression was not the aim of their art or careers. I know this because I see it and I will not deny what my eyes see.
