Reminds me of one from my youth. Pregnant woman goes into early labor and is rushed to the hospital. After the emergency treatment and birth, the doctor appears in the woman's room with paperwork to put the baby up for adoption. The woman is confused and upset, wanting to know what happened to her baby. The doctor, trying to be as gentle as possible, tells her that the baby is very deformed and that she'd be better off never seeing her child. Her maternal desire is unstoppable and she demands to see her baby. The doctor tried to convince her not to go, but she insisted. The doctor gets a wheelchair and proceeds to take her through the maternity section, room after room. At each room is a terribly deformed newborn. Each one she sees makes her ask if it's her child. Each time, the doctor said no, yours is worse. Finally they reach the last room, and the baby in the bassinet is just a large eyeball. The mother nearly collapses and the doctor says it's her baby. Sobbing, she says "Dear God, how could anything be worse?" Doctor says "Born blind."
