The Gooloo gt4000 has a low power mode to charge smaller devices. Just hold the power and boost button together to charge small devices like your gopro
Was in the process if returning gooloo 2000amp starter because it couldnt start my dead prius. I tried the hack at 6:27 and it started right up. Thanks a bunch sir!!!
Same with me and gooloo yellow color ? Tried to jumpstart a completely dead Duralast Platinum AGM and nothing . Until I read of the boost button and started up instantly . Strangely now battery SOH - 100 % and SOC - 96 % !
Just got my hulkman 8.5 and I was able to use the 12V adapter to run an air mattress pump for about 18 minutes before I shut it off. The Hulkman front got too hot to handle and it went from 100% to 46% in that time. Clearly not the best use case for this device but it is nice to see that they removed the 10 minute limitation.
I have the same Hulkman 8.5 for over 2 years now, Jumped over 30 cars. And have used it many times to run my 12 compressed for well over 15 minutes at a time, Just have to put it on the boost mode and it never shuts off for me until, I unplug it for a time, Or manually hold the button down to shut it down.
i personally can not stand proprietary connections or anything like that such as specialty screws.. i wish more things were standardized so creative and poor people could find a way to make things work more easily
i have a few like that one in the backright 60$, was 80$ canadian for 1500amp and i think 110$ canadian for 2500amp unit, although the 2500 isnt that much better its pretty much comparable to the smaller unit.. all the jumper packs are that annoying style that wont start anything if it doesnt have a battery/charge, and if you fail to start the rig on the first attempt it starts squawking you have to get out of the vehicle to remove one battery clamp and remove the plug from the pack before itll shutoff and reset.. its extremely annoying, would think a button press or just removing the battery clamp and reconnecting it would be sufficient but nope if that relay box sees power from the jumper or the car battery it wont shut off and will stay in karen mode im pretty tempted to make atleast one of the 3 i have into a go all the time model, have you had issues when starting diesels that need to crank alot with overheating the packs or having the lithium cells explode anything like that? just worried ill send it a little too hard but then again if its under the hood there isnt much risk to me or the vehicle even if it did have a bad day
Thanks for this review. I suspected the Fanttik T8 looked oddly similar to the Hulkman. Albeit changing some features and packaging. I received my Alpha 8.5S from the Kickstarter. Is that the best version to buy? Amazon has both on there. I almost bought a Fanttik just because it goes on sale more often and included a case and extra USB C cables and chargers.... I do own the Fanttik X8 air compressor, your thoughts on that? Is it also another clone of another product? Thanks!
Thanks for this video and in depth explanation, I have a cheap 12 pound AGM battery meant for being used as a backup battery installed in my car as my main battery cause it was cheaper and lighter but it doesn't hold as much charge so in case I needed it I also had a "Halo" brand jump pack, I got for almost free, mounted in my car just hardwired into the car battery but I gave it away to someone who needed one and was in the market for a new one and was mega confused why all of them had "Smart plugs" and was worried my hardwire setup may be dangerous with these. I guess the safety measures were built in on the Halo or just didn't have any but I didn't want to drop $100 on that brand since it didn't have crazy good battery life for charging my phone and things.
Just an FYI, your link to the hulkman 85 is the version without the battery heating feature. You need the 85S to go to -40 degrees, I believe. The regular 85 can be stored at -40, but not suggested to be operated less than -4. Otherwise, super informative!
Yep, I think you have a habit! LOL, I've got one but I don't remember what kind it is. I do remember it only works when it wants to. I just use an old car battery and jumper cables It's cheaper and I know it works. Happy Thanksgiving
With the hulkman, the 12v. Adapter can stay on as long as you have the usb cable on too, like to put your phone to charge then that 12 volt adapter will be on all the time, i just discovered it🤣
Would you know who can fix a Gooloo GP4000. I just got it. It looks brand new, but doesn't turn on and doesn't charge with included cable or my other cable. I live in Florida, but can UPS it somewhere. Thanks.
I own a Gooloo gp2000, the cigarette adapter which I am connecting to the jump starter by DC port is constantly giving 15V 10A. I measured, that under load it is dropping to 12V and it does not disable after 30 seconds as you mentioned in the video. Do you think it would be safe to use this DC output from the jump starter as a backup energy for all the car components for the time while I want to unplug the car battery to properly charge it with 16V?
@@kevinellis8967 is can only speak to using the audew 2000 amp pack. Project fsrm did a video on it. He did 2 videos about jump packs and its only in 1 because audew sropped selling on amazon.
Great reviews, one thing that stops me from buying the top ones you recommend is that they have a lot of bad reviews, like 5% or so. When people say they got 2 and both were bad, that's pretty discouraging.
I would rate the Gooloo a bit better. I have opened and hot wired both brands when the Solenoid fails as they all do. The Gooloo is much easier to get into. For that reason I would say gooloo.
Thanks for that helpful reply. Is it possible to get a relay that fits where the current one is but handles higher current or is that not electrically possible?
Best battery booster... AUTOWIT Super capacitor. As long as your battery is not totally death because it uses the remaining energy of your low battery and amplifies it to allow the vehicul to be started.
Got one of those I'm thinking $45 ones, though Artek, when you promoted. Great call... been working good other than the one issue I had and Artek was about the best customer service experience I've dealt with like you noted. Great overview. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for the video. Informative. I don't understand what you mean when you say that the power ports only work for 30 seconds when all the manufacturers state that it is suitable for charging phones and laptops, which implies continuous use. There must be something I'm missing.
Unique and interesting comparison. I am looking for one which is able to act like a car battery for the time of charging the car battery removed from the car. Do you know any model able to continuously supply
The newest noco gx155 has been nothing but garbage in my experience. At least 3 other techs at our Mack/Volvo/Hino/Cummins dealership have them and more than a handful of tines all they do is get hot and immediately die. My gooloo gt4000 (w/ preheater, not the "S") has never let me down. It charges 5hrs faster than the noco, is 150-200$ LESS than the noco and I wouldn't trade it for anything. The other thing I noticed was that one of our techs (our uptime bay diag guy of all people) always had his on top of one of his boxes plugged in, then one day it wasn't there. I asked him and he Saud he had to warranty it. Apparently he had used it to jump a Volvo vnr and it did work! BUT it killed the battery and from then on required being plugged in or it would die basically overnight. Then hecwent to use it one day and plugged up, nothing. So there's that as well. I had an old gb40 years ago and loved it but from what I've seen. The newest 4250a models are poorly made INTERNALLY, and most of the guys spent over 400$ and "regret it". Glad I didn't jump on THAT bandwagon! Great video as always. Happy New Year bud
Nice video review. I had been looking at the jump packs as well. I had noticed the similarity between the Hulkman 85(no preheat) and the Fanttik T8 - the one you called a Chinese clone and removed. It's made by Audew as well.. Most the chargers seem to be made in China and based on the similarity of the plugs/clamps are clones of one another to some degree...Audew, iamazing, gooloo etc. Lots of jumper pack brand names. I think I saw somewhere that Hulkman was designed in the US but made in China .. I was initially looking at the Hulkman but was wary of failure reports after checking Amazon reviews...I got turned off when a UA-cam reviewer reported that his failed after a couple of months and he got no reply from Hulkman support.
Yes Hulkman and I have had a few run arounds. I was in their Beta test group and tested units 4 months before it ever hit market. The first unit released had a known flaw that showed up after a month of solid use. The 2.0 version fixed the problem but was not in time to save them from getting nailed in the reviews. Fanttik is a daughter brand to Tacklife A company majorly based on cloning other tools. The T8 is a clone of the first gen Hulkman and fails after a month of use just like the first gen did. Broken open they are identical but components are lacking branding.

What about super cap boosters? I dont use it often, but want to make sure im not buying trash. I had a sla battery pack and ive had to replace the battery more often than ive used it
I've been using them for a while now without issue. They don't degrade the same way the batteries in the other ones do, so regular replacement isn't required.
And now there are rumors some cars caught on fire as the Booster pack was left in the rear seat in the direct sun...so this makes me scared to buy this product
Great video thanks for doing it. Regarding the units that do not supply power when they are under load. I suspect the reason for that is to protect the isolation relay in the unit or on the cord. Notice the large spark you get when you attach the clamp to the starting motor. That large spark will damage the isolation relay contacts and probably cause them to weld together. Those relays are basically too small for the amount of current they carry. Industrial relays that carry that much current are much much larger. About the preheat feature in cold weather, a workaround for that may be to make several cranking attempts, basically just keep trying and see if you can get it to work. The idea being that the load on the batteries will generate internal heat which will then allow them to produce more current. Regarding the old school booster units that contain lead acid batteries, the problem with those is that if you carry them around in your car they will eventually go dead because of the internal resistance of the lead acid battery. When you need them they probably will not work and the battery will be ruined because it has been dead for so long.About the starter motor, some grease on the bushings could help a lot, if not the bushings are pretty cheap. All the best to you.
I just returned the Gooloo GT3000 because they dismissed my complaint about the packaging arriving "pre damaged." Too much attitude on their part. They also keep moving the price up and down each week. It is very large and heavy.
