Bought FO3 and FNV on sale this weekend to protest how far the franchise has fallen.
Beth needs to apologize for this and deliver ES6 and F05 on a new engine with new ideas and polished AI.
They won't let me refund the $80 version even though I have less than 2 hours played, because if you as much as downloaded the game, you cannot refund it, because that cancels your right to a refund...starting to see why they didn't want to release on steam.

I remember one of Howard's underlings defending the no-NPCs thing, suggesting that players should adopt trades in the game. The example he gave was to take up food crafting and learn how to cook a healing steak better than anyone else, then sell that steak! That a company like Bethesda actually thought this was what gamers wanted -- to roleplay as manual laborers in real-time -- astonishes me to this day.
isnt this the model for Pax Dei? no NPCs you get quests from notes and items from the world and the economy is player driven....

Playing a storyless rpg already feels like manual labor. Unless you like listening to holotapes and talking to the few npcs in the game, the lore is basically dead.
There are games that have done that and done it pretty well: Star Wars Galaxies and Everquest 2 come to mind.
Unfortunately, Bethesda did not learn any of the lessons from those games and just went with "no content as a feature."
Here’s the thing: games CAN make everyday mundane tasks a bunch of fun. Crafting can be fun, farming can be fun, cooking can be fun! It’s all in how the developer spices it up! But at least in a game like 76, that special spice is not present.
Bugged OJ needs to be brought back. I will gladly pay for an action figure.

You are right to be scared. It has already been confirmed that they are once again using the exact same engine from Skyrim, meaning shitty graphics, bugs, and terrible performance issues. And judging from the laziness they showed with making this game, I'm sure there won't be any improvements to the engine. The fact that the community put more effort into fixing their games than Bethesda themselves is a joke.

No its good to preorder but never completely pay it off. Gamestop gives you the ability to transfer the money spent on a pre-ordered game to another purchase if you like. That's what I do. If I see a game I like, I pre-order it, wait a few days after its release to hear some reviews and if its good, I finish it off. If not, I put money down onto another game or buy something else with the credit

True story: I ended up processing a truckload of Fallout 76 hardcover guidebooks that got “donated” to Goodwill. The game was so bad even the guidebooks were all getting rejected and thrown out in droves because nobody was buying them. Even with the shrink wrap still on them.

@@mikhailg4667 while it has improved TREMENDOUSLY since launch I’d say it’s still not worth it a lot of the quests are the same and it doesn’t even matter to base build because everyone just minds there own business now which is not entirely a bad thing tho
@@mikhailg4667 If you can find it on sale for a couple of bucks I'd say it's worth it now. Started it earlier this year and it's been a ton of fun now that there's actual human NPCs and loads of content. I play solo so I haven't really seen any glitches even on console, PS5, but whenever i join a huge event with half of the server I don't see any even then. The map is pretty massive and there's tons of things to see and do.

Mark Bonikowsky started playing the trial they have this week, and it’s probably one of the worst games I’ve played in a long time. It is SO boring, and the AI is horrendous, which makes quests that do have combat 10x worse. I wish I could delete this game off of the Microsoft store.

Well actually everyone is saying this since, or after Oblivion. Everyone except Bethesda. FO3, FONV, and Skyrim also had their weird bugs and gamebreaking moments due too an extremely old and poor engine. But guess what! Nothing will change. TESVI will also be in the same but "upgraded" engine.
The worse joke of it all is that they plan to use this same engine in their future games.

Coming back after watching the Starfield review, and Joe was right to be worried. Going from a 3/10 with F76 to a 6/10 for Starfield does not bode well for the company. At least it is not a microtransaction ridden gotcha game like 76, but the company has shown it's loss of soul. I am really worried for ES6. It seems what made this company great, has gone the way of the dodo. Or in gaming company terms, gone the way of Bioware.
I have zero faith or trust in the studio anymore, I really don't, I'm more excited about BG3 and possible new content for BG3 then I ever will be about ES6. Starfield is atrocious, just on the engine alone the game looks like it is from 2015, it's bad. It's soulless, lazy, over ambitious AND not what anyone wanted.
They better not fuck up Elder scrolls 6 like this.

I still play fallout 4 to this day, never even bought 76
I don't have a good pc, so I never bothered with 4 and 76.
But fnv modded is pretty much keeping me entertained still.

Major difference too is, Hello Games looked at their burning crash of failure, picked it up, created some fucking awesome shit out of it in the meanwhile. And yeah, no matter what, it was refundable. No Cash n Grab, no DLC's, no Micotransactions.

Hello Games had also only made three games before No Man's Sky, all Joe Danger platform games. Bethesda made great open-world games before, hell Skyrim still kicks the crap out of most games now and it was released in 2011...
It's embarrassing that Hello Games has their shit together more than Bethesda; if anything Bethesda needs to keep it's fan-base for upcoming games, whereas Hello Games could have just taken the money and run.
F76 looks like a random early access game from Steam with tags "open world", "survival", "crafting".
