Saw the Theatre Royal performance... ELEVEN times -Completely addicted! Needed to go into rehab after the show closed.. still haven't recovered...Brilliantissimo!!!
I wish these would stay on longer than 48 hours! Please air this again! I missed it by a couple hours and I am. heartbroken!
This is available on PBS. If you are not in the US you will need a VPN.
I’m pretty sure this is also available on Broadway Hd. Which is only a few dollars a month and has a free trial on Amazon prime.
Clare Halse is sensational but it’s the thunderous tapping of the ensemble that really makes this number!
I have just "discovered" Ms Halse, what a talent!
possibly the best song in the show, absolutely amazing
Goosebumps and a lump in my throat! I was in the front row of this amazing show (a christmas present from my daughter) I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Incredible cast a memory that will stay with me forever......
I had the pleasure of working with Clare Halse in 2016. She was lovely, and a triple threat powerhouse, I'm glad to see that hasn't changed, incredible.
That's awesome! I saw this show a few years ago and she was on as Peggy that night. She blew me away, that was for sure.
Love this show, so glad I got a chance to see it before it closed!
it’s the ✨part of little old new york✨ for me
Loved every minute of this show. Smiled from start to finish, it was just wonderful.
Once the pandemic is over, I HAVE to take tap dances now
Mood 😅 I’m already trying to find at least UA-cam lectures for beginners.
An amazing showstopper number!!! Loved each and every step! Thanks for posting this selection...much appreciated!
I love this play. Wonderfully done. I love all the tap numbers.
Great show! Wasn't expecting so much tap dancing, but that was an added bonus!
If you guys upload another from this show do Lullaby of Broadway perhaps?
I need an oxygen tank just to watch this!😂❤❤❤
Never thought tap dance could be art! Entertainment? Sure! But art? This number is art!
There's a lot you don't know about tap dance, it seems :) Tap can be highly artistic ;)
@@danielsvoboda6233 thanks, I can do tap actually. But I always associated it with "Giv'em a big time show!", which this number absolutely is. But it also has something very intricate and dark about it. And that's what I love about it. The subliminal tragedy.
@@musicalmattress1053 If you take a look at non-theatrical tap dancers, you'll find all bunch of great artistic stuff. I do tap as well and what I truly love is the combination of contemporary dance with tap - that's highly artistic. But even without that, if you take a look at the international competitions, usually it's either packed with skill or expression or even better - with both :)
I just can't stop watching and watching again ! This gives me chills 😍😍 so brilliant ! 💛💛💛
Impressive choreography considering that it looks like there are so many more than 36 chorus members on that stage. I do have to add that, while this was a little better camera work than most, I wish that we could see this number with a stationary camera showing the whole stage. Such a letdown when there's a huge ensemble number on which everyone worked so hard and the camera zooms in on just a few or the angles keep changing. But, wow ... thank you for this!
Absolutely love this. Had listened to the original Broadway soundtrack for years, but had never seen a Broadway performance. Only saw clips here and there of local productions posted online. This was exactly how I imagined it. The crowd dance scenes, especially the finale, could rival Busby Berkeley. Bravissimo!
Spectacularly brilliant!
Missed so many of these shows cause of other situations. But did get to see about a quarter of this
I had never seen this number before, it Is superb.
Loved the show, was lucky enough to watch it twice in London. Hope it won’t be too long before it’s sat up again somewhere
I saw this live and Clare was amazing
absolutely incredible!!! 🤩🤩
Amazing !
Please bring this back!!!!!!!!!
What a spectacle!
46,000 views and only 900 likes? Come on! These people tap danced their asses off for you! Like the video!
Such a classy musical.
Love it
Philip Bertioli, who plays Billy, is the real find in this show.
The charisma! Was convinced that he was a main character and/or love interest. Didn't suspend my beliefs until curtain call
I always loved the slight ridiculousness of "42nd Street" being "The Avenue I'm Taking You To".... for the purposes of this song having slightly better meter than it would have otherwise (The Avenue is in fact, 7th Avenue, or possibly Broadway).
Maravilhoso!
here from cappellini-lanotte's short dance at figure skating worlds in 2014
Wow
Maybe someone can answer a question for me. I saw this years ago on tour and when it was revived in New York and I SWEAR that all the times I saw it (it ended up being 4 times) that the sailor was shot accidentally in all those productions. Am I crazy? Or was that a choice change this production made?
The original script calls for the sailor (sometimes a soldier) to be shot accidentally while the pickpocket gets away. In this production they needed the sailor to stay alive to tap out the rest of the spectacular scene! I hope you enjoyed it!
I'm personally glad they changed it here. The street violence is still there but it's less tragic.
Maravilloso ❤️ 👏
How come every time I experience perfect bliss, it's only the length of a song?
I do like the filmed performance of 42nd Street and I watched it at the New Theatre Royal in Lincoln on Wednesday 22nd January 2020 and it was brilliant and amazing
Omg I’ve talked to you before I didn’t realise your from Lincoln! So am I :)
Does anyone know where they put her mic pac for shoes and vocals? Wig? Can’t see it anywhere
Eda Eceden gelenler ?😍😍
Compulsory viewing! #harrietmademedoit @spacemasks 👍
at least the guy with the gun didnt miss his target unlike my school's version, where billy is killed
where can i buy the DVD please?
The DVD and Blu-Ray will be released July 6th. You can preorder it now on Amazon.
Who is the male dancer? When was this performance recorded?
When they talk about girls being from the "fifties" and "eighties", do they mean street numbers?
Since this song is originally from 1934 I think they mean the 1850s and the 1880s, but dressed the dancers like they are from the 1950s and 1980s since we're in a new century now.
Yes. You are right. Also the 80's was a more sophisticated area of the city and the 50's a bit less so.
Yes, they mean the street numbers. The areas of NYC change dramatically from the "50s" to the "80s". Higher numbers usually mean a bit seedier. At least it used to.
I think it was made a little more obvious in the original Hollywood film but, yes, their referring to specific neighborhoods in New York City.
My performance is about 42 Street
My fave is Ruby Keeler. It was grittier and less production-heavy.
1:47 Adapted for Looney Tunes cartoons
Ey come on. You set the complete show private right now just when I was watching. I had 25 minutes more to watch. That's mean.
Well this is basically the end. They just congrats each other after this go off to party and the boss sings a reprise of this. The rest is bows/credits

I don't like the biids and the bees and 42 nd Street I shall not want - I said no
I’m only here for school work
What was your favourite number from 42nd Street? Let us know in the comments below!
were in the money just makes me dance lol
Julian’s 42nd street but love it alll
I love the whole show!! It's one of my all time favorite shows!! I love the Audition scene. When the curtain raises just a bit and you see are the feet, awesome! And also when they dance on the stairs at the end.
My high school is doing 42nd street and I loved every number so far
When the lockdowns were first put into effect and I saw the story about Broadway's lights being shut, all I could think of was the entire soundtrack, but especially this number.
"42nd Street" and "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" are my favorites, but I love just about all of the songs.
