    This is a awesome sub. In my small room placed right behind my chair, it gives a fantastic explosive and tight punshy bass. Never had this quality bass in my room. Yes the deep deep rumble is not there like i had before, but I think this also is a advantage since there no rattling room noice or standing waves to interfere with the sound. So all sound is tight, and the clearity and details of all sounds are much higher than I had before with my (now broken) dual Ken Kreisel 808.

    Nice review, as usual. SVC support told me to use a dental tool to pull and not pry against the edge of the finish. I ended up leaving my covers on.
    I have this sub along with a pair of their Ultra Bookshelves and could not be happier. Yes, the app for the sub is a huge bonus. All are in piano black and the finish and feel is extraordinary. Quality abounds with these speakers, and the sound from the trio is impressive as hell. I am very happy with SVS and their products.

    The real question is how do dual 3000 micros compared to a single sb3000?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  3 роки тому +7

      The short answer is they can't and don't compare. The SB3000 is capable of a monstrous 127dB at 30hz while the Micro can manage a very respectable 105dB at 30hz. That's nowhere close and adding a second Micro will not get anywhere near the 127dB the SB3000 is capable of. And that's just SPL, the SB3000 can also extend lower. The reality is the Micro is an awesome subwoofer and supremely capable for how compact it is and a pair would have tremendous bass for how small they are but comparing them to something larger doesn't make sense. Easiest way to remember this is even the cheaper but still larger SB1000 Pro can put out 116dB at 30hz. If you have a space constraint or just want a small sub the Micro is one of the finest you can buy but if you can fit a larger sub just get the SB2000 Pro for the same price :). Sorry for the long reply, hopefully this answers your question in a meaningful way.

      @@NemoPropaganda With all due respect, don't try and dumb yourself down to peons. Sometimes the answer take more than 140 characters to properly explain. That was not too long of a response at all.
      Just a little bit about myself, my car has a JL W6 12 ported in the trunk. So I know a little about subwoofer displacement. My interest in the 3000 micros has more to do with their WAF, not only from an aesthetic standpoint but also trying not to shake the rest of the house, while still truly enjoying the home theater experience. After all she thinks our Q950A soundbarin the living room has enough bass, so I'm kind of walking a fine line when it comes to home theater setup.

    • @NemoPropaganda

      @@4fastdrs I think the Micro is perfect for you then, anyone remotely familiar with subwoofers & bass should be nothing short of impressed by what such a little box can do. The only one more impressive is the KC62 but that's nearly double the price!!

I honestly feel like dual 3000 micros will have people more impressed then having one massive sub . Where it definitely sounds amazing, but that's kind of obvious given its size

    Hi Nemo. Would you still be recommending the Rythmik F12 for critical music listening at low to moderate volumes? I want a small, discrete, beautiful sub that is audiophile quality and has high wife-acceptance factor. I don’t need intense pressurization or wall-rattling bass, just accuracy to fill in music roughly 50 Hz and below.
    I appreciate the flexibility of the app with SVS SB3000 Micro, but am concerned the SVS might not be fast enough or accurate enough with my fussy/discerning ears. Thoughts? Thank you.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Рік тому +1

      Hi clearance, you are describing REL T5X! Or maybe even T7X, that's what you should go for. The Rythmik F12 is equally as good but being larger it will be happier at louder volumes, theres no sense in buying a 12" if you're only going to have the gain set 2-3 clicks up from zero. As far as how SVS compares I made a video about that you may find useful: ua-cam.com/video/rEz03XkcslI/v-deo.html

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Dean, the F12 is much larger so it's not a fair comparison but the F12 is undeniably better, if you can physically and alethically fit a larger sub (within reason) you always should. With these micro subs a good chunk of your money is going towards keeping things small while still having a good bottom end and decent SPL output for the size.

    Hi Nemo, I am also a sucker for looks and also have the Buchardt S400 in my living room for that matter. I am looking to extend the lows and give the S400s some more bass weight at lower volumes. Having a hard time deciding between the KEF KC62 and the SVS micro. How does the SVS blend with the Buchardt S400? You specifically said the KC62 was one of the easiest subs to blend with the S400s. In Europe the price difference is more like 30% due to import fees on SVS. I really prefer the looks of the SVS over the Kef...

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  3 роки тому +3

      Both actually blend very well with the S400 but the S400 is very strong down to 30hz so you need a sub with as much extension and authority down low as possible. For that reason the KC62 is the easy recommendation here.

    Thanks for the great review and comparisons Nemo. I've been following and watching your channel for a long time now. Glad to see you picking up many more subscribers! I was in between 2 x SVS 1000 Pro (for $ savings) but I like that the 3000 Micro cabinet doesn't rattle, looks fantastic, and can be potentially be in a cabinet or on top of a drawer. Ended up ordering a pair of the Micros even though I think one would have been good enough in my small office / bedroom (12x12). This will be used with my desktop setup only for music. Hoping they integrate and blend well with my bookshelves. The app is a huge huge selling factor. I'll try to integrate as best I can before getting a Minidsp with DIRAC room correction.
    Btw how does the SVS app handle two 3000Micro subs? Is there some pairing features within the app or do I need to set the EQ independently for each sub?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  2 роки тому +1

      There is a dropdown at the top of the app and you select which sub you want to adjust so it's really easy. I suggest you rename them so you remember which one you are adjusting :) It should be really easy and having a pair you can play with placement options like having one on the opposite side of the room, should help a lot in a desktop scenario!

I'm interested in 2.1 only and I don't usually play that loud. Mostly like indie/alternative. My system is Magnepan LRS speakers right now (I'm experimenting with a Nakamichi TA/4A and have an HK Citation 12 which is being repaired which I will also try along with an HK Citation 21 preamp and I'm going to play with these to see what sounds best) with a Nikko Alpha 230 amp and a HK Citation 11 preamp. • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  3 роки тому

      @@jonathanreich6360 better compared to their larger counterparts yes but the Micro 3000 is still an SPL-centric subwoofer while the KC62 is right in the middle. Both will offer up tons more SPL and pressurize larger spaces than a single T5X can and they will still sound good doing it. With respect to fidelity the T5X being an SQ-centric subwoofer will take that crown. You can have high SPL out of an SQ sub, it's just more expensive. Between SPL, SQ, and Affordability you can only pick 2 of those things. Rythmik gets the closest to giving you all 3 though a la the F12SE at $1149 if you can handle something larger. If you're not in the US expect to pay freight though.

    am using a 14 year old paradigm 12" Sub that still works great. Do Subs degrade over time?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Рік тому

      yes they do! it varies based on materials used but the suspension (spider) can loosen up and the adhesive that holds the surround to the basket can break down over time, usually around the 20 year mark but storage conditions, usage, and material choices can have a big impact on that. The cone intself and surround can also breakdown or degrade with age, usually you can see this visually. If it looks good and still sounds good I wouldn't worry about it too much. Oh yeah, and of course the plate amp ages also but I don't know too much about that, IIRC the caps can lose value with age.

      From the amp? It radiates off the steel panel that wraps around the bottom but this is a cool running class D design, it doesn't generate very much heat. If you're referring to the voice coils the answer is the same and they are designed to handle the higher heat of a sealed design.

    After watching your reviews on subwoofer, and struggling between REL, Rythmik, and etc, I have (Finally!) boiled down to either SVS micro 3000 or KC62. I am using Focal Chora 816 and am 80% movies. Aesthetically, the more squarely micro 3000 match Chora better IMO, but I also want better base. Price aside, which one would you prefer? Hey Chicken! So I'm a big Focal user myself as I own both Chora 806 and Aria 906. Focal drivers are light weight and very quick, the Micro was able to keep up and blend well but the KC62 did a better job with it's magnesium drivers (that's no surprise). The lightweight CarbonGlas driver of the REL HT series was also an excellent match for the Focal speakers (tonally speaking) and gave me a little more bass detail than the Micro. Just curious but is there any reason you're not considering a pair of (or single) REL HT-1003? Sounds like you want a small sub that matches the Chora well and the line grain vinyl finish on the REL HT subwoofer is 99% identical to the line grain vinyl Focal uses on the sides of the Chora speakers :).

    I love that you admit to using earplugs lol. I myself carry a pair for use at theaters, theme parks, etc. I'm pretty sure these venues are catering to a general public with partial hearing loss, or they are knowingly blasting people with unhealthy levels of sound to induce cheap (but damaging) thrills. I'll gladly trade the momentary embarrassment for being able to hear the finer details of music into my old age. Our ears are the only equipment we cannot replace!
    P.S. For those interested, there are various "earplugs" designed to attenuate specific frequencies vs outright noise cancellation, thus claiming to reduce damaging decibel levels while maintaining sound quality. I have no idea if they are as safe as earplugs, but I have found them to work great.

      SVS makes subwoofers very consistently (a good thing) so they all have a similar tonal character and sound so yes you can mix any of them. Why only cheapest SVS subs (1000) have speaker level inputs? Where is the logic?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  2 роки тому

      because speaker level inputs are a legacy connection (old fashion) and generally an inferior option. Most gear has line level output (LFE output or pre-out, or sub out) which is the superior connection method for subwoofers. Only super cheap amps lack this feature like Yamaha RS-202 so it makes good sense that only SVS cheapest sub has the cheaper connection option.

    • @ivanbogdaue
      @ivanbogdaue 2 роки тому

      @@NemoPropaganda I do not agree. Many industry experts recommend using speaker level connections for connecting subs. Maybe you have separate preamp + poweramp system any do not have pre-out available.
      It is logical that with better/more expensive product buyer gets more flexibility, and more options, not less.
      This decision by SVS says to me they care much more about home-theatre than music lovers.

      @@ivanbogdaue my bro, just because a bunch of people say something it doesn't make it true. Facts are not decided by consensus. Who are these industry experts? The industry experts I talk to are the actual engineers that design the subwoofer and in many cases entirely from the ground up, plate amplifier and all. This is not my opinion, this is a fact: High level is a legacy connection and line output is the better and more consistent method of connection. Now if you don't have line output and high level is your only option then use high level or if you buy a subwoofer that is specifically designed and engineered to use high level like REL then go for it, outside of that everyone should be using line outputs.

      @@zafert85 I've only reviewed the LS50 meta and found that it was very easy with subwoofer pairing and seemed to pair well with every subwoofer I tried. If you can afford both go for the KC62, you won't be disappointed. For the extra money it gives you insanely good low frequency extension even at low volumes and I think you will really enjoy that. The micro is also good but I feel like the KEF/KEF match is just a no brainer here.

      @@NemoPropaganda Thanks again for the reply buddy, fucking love your videos. Yea I like to listen to music just like you, at a low volume, or not earblasting volumes. I like to feel the music at those low volumes as well like at 80 db. If you say the KC62 is worth the extra 300 euros then I might get one. I saw a demo model of the 3000 micro for 975. I still dont think that makes the gap big enough to go for the 3000 micro over the kc62.

      @@zafert85 thank you bro, so here's the thing, the Micro is AWESOME! No doubt about that, for it's price it's really good, I voted it best "all around subwoofer" for 2021. The KC62 is more expensive and worthy of it's price so my advice is if you can afford the more expensive one and it sounds like you can, then you should do it. But if you cannot then the slightly more affordable Micro is still very good and pairs very well with the LS50 Meta but the KC62 is it's natural mate and worth every penny. It's like buying a car, Honda civic and Honda accord are both excellent cars, Accord is more expensive but it gives you more for the money. Either one you buy is good but if you can afford the Accord you will be really happy you got it.

      I don't feel there is an appreciable difference between the 3 with respect to transient response. They all have good transient response for their SPL capabilities and price points.

    Hi Nemo…I was surprised that you left out Rel in your comparisons? So for price and size how would two 3000 Micros compare to two Rel T/5x subs in your opinion in a small to medium room?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  3 роки тому

      Hey Bob, I made a whole video on REL vs. SVS and talked about the whole SQ vs SPL subwoofer topic again in the REL T9X video. It's not a topic I like to rehash very often as it requires a lot of context and explaining. Essentially nobody should be cross shopping these two brands. What they offer is totally different from eachother. It's like cross shopping a sports car and a luxury car, it just doesn't make sense.

    Very informative review as usual. Keep it up bro, you are a big help to other enthusiast like me that don't have chance to test or audition those toys. I remember you have reviewed the Bowers & Wilkins ASW608, how do you compare it to that one? I know it is cheaper but I was amazed by that tiny sub as well when I heard it, I think you had a good review on that before. Is that Micro 3000 better in every category?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  3 роки тому +2

      The ASW608 has very good bass note distinction and SQ, it's kind of like REL where you don't get a lot of power but you get really great SQ Instead. With the SVS you get more power and output but the SQ of the ASW608 is a bit better for sure.

    Great video, was very curious about the sound and how it compared for small sound woofers. Out of curiosity for for home theatre use only how does the REL HT 1205 stack up to the SVS SB3000? Yes there is a price difference and after all your comments I would assume one of the two subs over a pair of the Micro's would be a better choice. Based on room I would have to run the pair wirelessly or the single larger sub wirelessly. Your thoughts are appreciated!

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  3 роки тому +1

      The SB-3000 is capable of a lot more output than the HT1205. The HT-1205 is more comparable to the SB-2000 Pro. The 1205 has a tighter sound and a little clearer bass note distinction. The SB-2000 will have a more aggressive attack and much higher SPL capability.
