Final Fantasy 8 has, arguably, one of the best soundtracks ever written for a video game. The original soundtrack was composed by Nobuo Uematsu. In this orchestral remix, I added personal touches to every movement (like I do with all my other medleys) and, hopefully, I was able to preserve the core "feeling" of the game or, at the very least, do its fabulous OST justice. In this, my favourite movements/sections of the arrangement were Dance With the Balamb Fish/Waltz for the Moon, The Castle and Compression of Time. Let me know what your favourite part is if you have one!
Here is a list of all the tracks included in this medley:
Overture
Shuffle or Boogie
The Mission
The Castle
A Sacrifice
Ami (with a hint of Balamb Garden)
Blue Fields
SeeD
Compression of Time
Movin'
Dance With the Balamb Fish
Waltz For the Moon
Liberi Fatali
Silence and Motion
The Oath
Love Grows
Eyes on Me
Roses and Wine (with a hint of the Epilogue)

^_^
Uematsu would do a cartwheel and a half if he heard this! Wonderful as always!
Thank you! ^_^ That's nice to hear.
Wonderful singing! I was surprised when I heard it at first. My thoughts went from « I don't remember any version of "Eyes on Me" sounding like that... » to « Oh! I guess it's her singing! »
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I love the transition from Silence and Motion to The Oath to Love Grows/Eyes on Me :)
I love the singing a lot :D
Thank you!
What a beautifully soft, sweet rendition of "Eyes on Me" :'D
The rest was lovely, too, of course. Very Kee choices. :)
Than you so much! :'D
One of my favorite final fantasy this shall be awsome.
I hope you enjoyed it. ^^
This is great! As a composer myself I am very inspired by Nobuo Uematsu. Just playing through the game again after some years :)
Me too, actually. It has one of his best OSTs.
possibly my favorite medley yet your song selection and transitions are so good and the songs themselves are among my favorites like Liberi Fatali, waltz for the moon, the mission, silence and motion, compression of time, the castle, and of course eyes on me I love how you sing it I have such memories of that song I'll never forget falling out of my chair when I first heard it in that scene with squall and rinoa I was so into it then someone starts singing I was so taken aback your version is just as good while being different and unique I can only hope there is a longer version of it or maybe you'll do one in the future either way this was great
Nice job, I love "eyes on me" and you did a good job with it.
Sean Aardappellen Ah, thank you! :)
It's very pleasant for me to listen to this music in a medley:) The junction between A Sacrifice and Ami suprised me very positively and I love the melody you play in Ami and BGU. I particulary like Compression of Time and your voice on Eyes on Me :)
Thanks so much, Adrien!
I had goosebumps the moment this video plays, but more goosebumps when I heard you sing Eyes on Me! This medley is beautiful enough to our ears, your voice made it very angelic! Good job!
+Jon Atienza I'm so glad my medley gave you that experience. ^_^ Thank you so much for your comment.
This is too beautiful! I love game with all my heart, and you definitely reminded me how much I love it. Thank you keep it up!
Thank you so much! ^_^
My favorite Final Fantasy title and soundtrack, with ease.
I really enjoyed the progression of Movin', you captivated Compression of Time very well and the rendition of Eyes on Me was lovely (admittedly it always gets me choked up). Despite being renditions with a personal touch I still got chills at all the usual moments and I think that speaks for itself really.
If you were to ever cover more tracks from VIII, I'd love to hear a rendition of the successor. It's one of my favorite tracks as a lot of nice swings and elements of other tracks from the game.
Ah, yes. The Successor! Such a beautiful track! I'll certainly consider it. ^_^v Thanks for commenting on all those parts.
I really enjoyed that. Games often sit in my memory with a unique nostalgic feeling and listening to the soundtrack is a great way to relive the experience. Thanks!
You're welcome. ^_^ I'm glad you had fun listening to this!
La mejor versión de la banda sonora de Final Fantasy VIII que he escuchado. Impresionante trabajo, siempre me acompaña durante la hora de estudio
Oh, it's already here! :D
Awesome!
It's nice to know that you were looking forward to it. ^_^ Thanks for that.
Goodness, this is beautiful. Well done. Uematsu-san would be very proud! :-D
I would love it if he was proud of me. :') I gave him a CD of my music (some originals and some remixes of his own themes) but I'm worried that he found it presumptuous, arrogant or too familiar. Mainly, I just wanted to tell him what an incredible composer he is, and to thank him for his work.
RebeccaETripp I am sure he was very impressed, you are respectful and faithful to his work while adding your own touches, especially with your excellent vocal rendition of Eyes on Me. Well done again! :-)
Thanks. ^_^ That's nice to hear.
Fintan Mac Aoidh Could you do me a similar remix of the batman dark knight rises theme you done?? Absolutely fantastic and love it. Would love it on my Ipod?
It's a wonderful tribute to Uematsu's work.
If I have to choose (mh it's hard) My fav. part goes to "Silence and Motion~Roses and Wine", well the last 5 minutes. It's so delicate and soft ♥ I have been waiting for an arrange of that kind since forever. Thank you so much for that.
And Eyes on me... aww I like how you worked on it. I actually don't like the song because of Faye Wong's voice, but yours... oh, my, it's so lovely~
Really? Thank you! I felt like mine was so inferior to hers! Hers has so much power in it! :O But mine... well, I had measles when I recorded this. ^_^ I'm really glad you liked it. You seem to like a lot of the really graceful sounding stuff.
the eyes on me is really good, so effervescent
I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Nice Medley, I liked some of the additions you made to some of the pieces.
Brett Smith Thank you, Brett.
"The castle"!!! So good to hear! (just like the others) Nice work again, you're so talented!
+Gates SEBASTIEN Thank you. ^_^ I'm glad you liked that part. The Castle is one of my all time favorite FF8 tracks.
+RebeccaETripp Just like in FF9 the last dungeon's track is the best.
yeah i love the Final Fantasy music , nice work :-) keep it up
Thanks! I will! :D
i start to sweat when i hear the triple triad theme x)
another great upload!
Hehe!
Rules:
Same!
Sudden Death!
Sweet lord this is glorious too!
Paul Farrer Well, thank you! Is 8 your second favorite in the series?
RebeccaETripp FF VIII was my favourite since it came out up until I played FFVI at the beginning of last year for the first time. I kinda lost a lot of faith in the FF brand with 10, which was okay, but nothing special to me. Then I decided to sit down and give VI a try last year and it was like I had missed something very special back in my SNES days.
I'm glad you went back to it! ;) I like 9, 6, 4 and 5 best- but I liked them all. 9 and down especially.
Sounds really good :)
Thanks!
Great 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Pure Excellency! 🤘My Favorite part 6:40
Thank you! ^_^
01:22 love that heavy and clumsy brass, sounds military. By listen to it I don't even care how annoying triple triad was.
11:00 that crescendo ... but maybe a little too light
Merci pour ce medley. J ai tellement joue a ce jeu dans ma jeunesse. The oath est toujours boulversant. Qui chante eyes on me, je n ai pas le souvenir de cette voix dans la chanson?
Vous êtes les bienvenus. C'est moi qui ai chanté.
This is epic!
+Antoff7 :D Thanks!
Are you the one singing at the end ? Lovely voice !! Hope to hear more with your futur "Nayru's Song" ;)
+vertluc Nayru's song is done. I have to re-record the voice though, because I have been having problems with my health. It's actually been done for almost 2 months, though. ^^
And yes, that was me singing in this medley. :3 Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
I think FF8 is the most psychedelic out of all the FF games.
shschesschamp Hmmm... Well, they all have their moments, if you think about it. But if I had to say which was the most trippy, I might also pick 8. Runner up would likely be 7. I suppose FF8 throws you for a loop really quickly with all the Laguna stuff.
It wasn't just the Laguna stuff but it was Time Compression, The City of Esthar, and Lunatic Pandora. Also the end part of the game. FF7 I think would be the runner up, but it wouldn't be a good trip cause Cloud is mostly getting mind fcked thruout the game.
I understand. :) That's why it's my #1 for psychedelic as well.
Final Fantasy VIII is my favorite FF for that very reason. Damn, just imagine a Remake with all the Cinematic part, gameplay, music, and all.... Geez...
And I had to check the psychedelic meaning in Google. lol
From 0:24 this is very good ،I like 👍
Someone just said:

I'd love to hear your cover of force your way and the extreme!!
You're in luck then!

The Extreme: ua-cam.com/video/6tc4Lx3Iboc/v-deo.html#t=476 (transitions from Dancing Calbrena from FF4)
"Rebecca E. Tripp? I couldn't have possibly composed it better myself." ~ Nobuo Uematsu
"Don't put words in my mouth." ~ Uematsu
But that's what he told me... telepathically.
This was great, also could you tell me where you got the art from? I assume some sort of official artbook, would love to give it a look.
Thanks! I just typed FF8 official art into a search engine. There is a lot of it out there! I got it from all over.
You're welcome, and thank you!
Rebecca, this medley is wonderful. I’m on the board for the Des Moines Gamer Symphony Orchestra, and I’d love to present this piece to our group as a potential performance work. Would you happen to have a score and parts for it?
I would need to engrave the whole thing! This is a very old piece (from before I started engraving pieces as I went), so it would take a lot of work. What kind of timeframe were you thinking?
@@RebeccaETripp if it would be an unreasonable amount of work, don’t feel obligated. We don’t really have a timeline. I would just program the piece whenever it was ready. I’m also very comfortable with Finale and would be happy to help.
@@jaztrumpet Oh, nice! Well, can you please email me at fern.ivy@gmail.com? That way we can continue there if we end up getting to this! I need to know what you have at your ensemble! ^^ I should also note that I have a lot of other pieces that would be easier to convert!
@@RebeccaETripp sounds good! I just emailed you.
so very nice (Y)
+orochi_86 Thanks. :3
could I make a request for an orchestral version of "For River" from the game "To the Moon"?
I will listen to the song. There are quite a lot of songs (around 200) that I'm planning to cover as it is, but if I love the song, I will bump it up the queue.
RebeccaETripp thank you very much for considering it
I just randomly noticed that a friend of mine did a cover of this song. It's here, if you want to listen to it. :)

how lovely thank you for pointing this out to me
fredfred1112 I did it. :) ua-cam.com/video/ajEY0aO-Rm4/v-deo.html
How many songs do you create in a week!?
An average of 2 a week, usually. Sometimes more if I'm being a recluse, and sometimes less (if I'm camping or really involved with other work.)
How many open projects do you have open at any given moment?
Usually quite a few, as you might have guessed. ^_^ This one, I actually started 3 weeks ago, and 90% of it was done about a week ago. I had to wait to record my voice, as I've had measles for the past month -_- and I wanted to butcher the song slightly less.
RebeccaETripp wow chicken pox at such a late age....was it painful
No, actually! The weird thing is, I've already had it once before, and it only affected me the way it affects children! I was so lucky! The worst part of it all was how tired it made me.
RebeccaETripp i think you broke darwinism with your catching of the same disease twice
Haha! It's actually more common than people think.
Did you sing ?
Yes. I hope it's okay. ^//^
It was fiiiine! lol I am not a singing expert so to me it sounded fine :p
Yes, it's amazing! Is there a full version??
While I love this very much ,it made me think: have you ever played a Suikoden? It's full of promising material for you and these games are amazing (well, except the fouth installment whick was quite a disappointment...)
Not yet! They're good games, I'm often told, and with great music, but I don't know anything about them really.
Totally off subject but I was reading on crystalechosound.com about "Strange Journey" the game you made for friends. I wanna play!!! I also really wanna know how you made it. I'm picturing a SNES RPG style game. Let me know :::)
It was an RPG Maker endeavor. Very long and esoteric. Lots and lots of story and dialog. I might make it downloadable eventually.
RebeccaETripp Just found the RPGMaker. I'm considering making short stories into interactive experiences this should be fun!

***** Although it's extremely easy to win me over with sweets, it's not incentive for marriage. ^_^ Hahaha!
