Well, this was a great way to start the day! ^_^ I'm really happy if it's this medley inspired you, and also that listened to it with your mom. FF4 was my first Final Fantasy game. It's what got me in the video game music the most, I think.
Haha...in a bad mood tonight and I type in "ffiv ending orchestrated" and this comes up. Thank you for creating this, it's awesome and it made my night! :)
mooglemaster17 ^_^ I'm glad it made your night! Thank you for your comment. If you wish to hear them, I've done one of these for every FF game from 1-10. ;)
Excellent work, The way this game unfolded strengthens and caresses the imagination. This music doubles the feeling and almost brought tears to my eyes.
I am going to share this with my older and little brother. We all grew up playing the FF series as children with FF2(USA ^.^)/FF4 making the greatest impact on us as far as video games and story telling goes. You've done an amazing job with this orchestral mix. Standing ovation.
Very awesome work. I grew up playing all of these games and I've always liked videogame music, and it's cool to hear it orchestrated. You're a hero to geeks everywhere.

This Final Fantasy IV rendition takes me back to a time--a time of goblins, dwarves, knights, kings and bards. It makes me feel, and perhaps it would affect everyone similarly, that longing sense of wonder and amazement that existed during a time when the world, real or fictitious, was new, fresh, and waiting to be discovered. There are so few types of music, early 20th century jazz notwithstanding, that can make me feel the way this video did.
Your song picks and order are just golden. Most of the time, that makes for incredible transitions. There are a few points where I thought the tempo or purity of melody were unnecessarily tweaked. Still, just excellently done and truly inspired.
This game has a special place in my heart as it was the First Final Fantasy I really sat down and played and I think you more than nailed it Rebecca. You kept that classic feeling while adding a little "Rebecca" to it. Even so you didn't stray too far from the originals to the point where a song is not recognizable. Brilliant Brilliant BRILLIANT! I have to say you really have the medleys hammered down! You make me want to try and take a shot at within the giant!
This was absolutely one the BEST medleys i have heard in all the time i have enjoyed Final Fantasy 4 and its main OST. Your transitions in these songs are on point and I just love the way it meshes together. Cecil's theme/Red Wings gives me chills to this day....I'm one to get emotionally invested in the music and this was the best! Thank you again!
+Darian Agnew Thank you very much, Darian. ^_^ I appreciate it, as FF4 and FF6 were both my first FF games (I saw/played them at the same time, basically when we got our emulator up and running!)
This is the first place I go when I want to listen to FFIV music, brings back so much nostalgia. Amazingly done, I love the transitions and the order you chose. The only thing that would make it better is Trojan Beauty :)

btw love what you did with the prologue, kinda suits the game better as it first seems a little sad and slow but the remorse of cecil makes it turn happy and upbeat, was not expecting a good referencing to the game in one of my favourite songs of the series
The same reason I am, I'll bet. There is something significantly deep about the music of Final Fantasy- especially Uematsu's work I made a video about that topic, if you're interested: Final Fantasy The Psychology & Philosophy 6: The Music
They're playing as their own characters and I get to play as the cast of FFIV. It's really fun roleplaying all the wonderful characters of FFIV and introducing them to people who have never played the game before. They mainly know Cecil since they travel with him a lot. They get to see the relationship between Cecil and Rosa, and (my own thing) I made Edward and Rosa best friends. One of the characters is a dragoon student under Kain, so that's interesting and another character is part of the guard at Damcyan that joined the party after they met the main cast of FFIV
Jeff G Oh, man! I wish I was in your campaign, now! I would LOVE that! :D I've often imagined so many things similar to what you're describing! Please remember to tell me how they react when they find out about Kluya, the moon and Zemus! >:D
This game always wrestles with VI for the top place in my heart. Rydia's theme is my all time favorite of the game, and that's a difficult choice to make. What they did with it in the DS edition just about made me bawl like a baby.
+Wiggymaster I love her theme, and agree with you about what they did with it in the DS one! :D I especially loved what they did with Rosa's theme in that one. Did you hear my cover of Rydia's Theme on my channel? I think you might like it. ^_^
ff4 has to have the strongest first hour or so of music in the entire series. you get the prelude, the red wings, castle baron, the theme of love, the epilogue/prologue, baron town, the overworld theme, the battle theme, the mist cave and the boss theme. it's like hit after hit of fantastic tunes. i remember the mist cave song in particular giving me goose bumps the first time i heard it. i just turned up the tv and vibed out in silence for awhile, lol. it's like i didn't know that the SNES sound chip was capable of sounding so beautiful until that moment.
It's just that epic. I consider it to be the same archetype as Magitek Factory and Musica Machina. The Mako Reactor song is also kind of similar, except it's very slow compared with the others.
I love FFIV so much so it is nice to hear a medley as good as this. I even started writing a story based on FFIV with OCs as well as the original characters :) If anyone wants more info, PM me :) Back to the actual music though, my favorite is without a doubt Rydia's theme :)
Um YES please :) I'm also trying so hard to find an image of Rydia, Cecil and Rosa in one picture to make the cover for my FFIV story, True Blue. I am having such a hard time finding it.
Amazing, impressive, awesome, and pretty good. The transitions are very well done, it flows as a single piece. Great work. If my beloved Mana series ever got this treatment, I think I would die of happiness on the spot, or at least cry in joy for a couple of hours. Btw. are all the slides in your videos drawn (or taken, in case of photos) by you, too?
RebeccaETripp Ooh! I'm at work now, I'll have to look at it tonight! I can't wait! Edit: Yes, actually, I have. But I think I wasn't focusing on listening then.
starting to get into the music you do, well, i say get into, wanting to hear your take on them as a final fantasy fan (big style, and religiously) so i listen to first just the medleys i will enjoy and branch, much like i did with pellek, with his ff1/2 with lyrics being good uses of battle themes from them
Absolutely! I'm working on 2 and 3 right now (when I can, since my hand is still injured right now) and I'm planning one for FF5 and FF11 for sure. I've already finished/uploaded FF1, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 as well. Also, there's a Tactics battle medley. :)
Is there a way for you to make an extended version of The Redwings theme, and if so do you accept donations? This song has been stuck in my head and is the best background music for painting medieval miniatures.
Hehe! Well, I certainly could! I was actually thinking of giving it an overhaul in the near future. And you can donate to me through my Bandcamp, or download anything I make for free or any amount of money you want.
I really appreciate it. I'll admit, the first time I heard your version of the Red Wings I got goosebumps. It felt like a merging of Final Fantasy music and music from Star Wars a New Hope with the way the instruments sounded. Thank you for the quick response, and in case you don't hear It enough, your work is amazing. I look forward to the new/extended version of this song and wish you the best.
Matt Doser Thank you so much! ^_^ I really appreciate it. I was happy with this arrangement when I made it, but I've had some pretty scathing criticisms since and my confidence in it (especially the Red Wings part) was sort of shaken.
When I hear about people giving you poor criticism about a work like this it reminds me of a local food shop. The owner has nothing but well prepared, fresh food that tastes great for a burger joint. Yet in spite of this, there always seems to be a group of people that feel that it's their mission to bring the place down because it isn't to the exact standards. Which brings me back to this piece. I know I've stated this in the recent post, but I feel it could use some additional emphasis. I was surfing the web looking for a good remix of this song, and I'm sure you know that sometimes it's hard to find a piece that meets the tone and feel for the moment. You work captured it perfectly, and as I said I wish the Red Wings portion was fully extended just so I could enjoy it while working on my own projects. You'll always have people who feel they need to voice a negative opinion, so to balance things out, here is a glowing review for you and your work!
+RebeccaETripp Nice, I didn't know about Garritan. I also use EWQL but I have only the Symphonic Orchestra and Ra which is really cool. I think you must know about it already but Cinebrass is very useful for brass and gives very powerful and realistic brass sounds. Albion III (Iceni IIRC) has a ton of low sounds (brass, strings, perc etc) and I recommend it, for what it's worth I've also made some FF remixes (FF4 and FF6 main themes) using only EWQL, you can check them if you want. But you won't be as impressed. I've made FF4 because orchestral versions of FF4 main theme are extremely scare and few (almost no version of the FF4 main theme played by a real orchestra! Shame...). So I'm also really glad the main theme shows up in your work.
I'm having a live orchestra play my work soon, as it happens! ^_^ If you want to see the performance, there will be a livestream! facebook.com/events/174216413297453/?active_tab=about There's the event in case you're curious! This is for my Chrono Trigger medley, so I'm not sure if it would be your thing or not!
I am about to really struggle through some descriptions here, so please bear with. In the very beginning of the Red Wings theme, after the opening, when you have the melody playing over top of the continued opening part... I know kind of what you're going for, but it doesn't really work to my ears. Then, the whole piece sort of goes off-key until it comes back in and goes through the whole thing again with near musical perfection. Suggest that if you want to keep the opening as a countermelody, you try rearranging it so it harmonizes a little more closely to the chord progression. Also, suggest you reverse the second part with the first part, so that you set up the unchanged part first and then build around it using the countermelody. instead of going into a bunch of changes and resolving to the original. The 6/8 9/8 portion of this portion has a lot of non musical dissonance that isn't part of the song and could also stand to be a little more staccato in places. Overworld theme was good although your arrangement felt just a little messy. The second half nails it. In the Bab-il Giant theme, It sounds absolutely amazing. My only critique is that you're highlighting what sounds like trombones in this section, and it's begging for a french horn patch. Also a few minor liberties taken from from the original melody, but they're definitely musical. The section at 3:25... I can't really figure out what's going on there. Something in the melody feels like the Fabul theme amid some strange dissonance. Your chord structure in the Baron March is musically incorrect, and I don't know how to describe it other than to say that you're chord changes coming off of the F reflect F#-E-A E when they should be reflecting F#-E-F# E. Your chord progression deviation to the major at 4:11 is an interesting choice. I'm not sure if you intended it that way or not, but it really works, and especially going into Mt. Hobbs! Although I think you would benefit sticking with the minor on the first one and save the interesting change for the song change. Your xylophone rolls on this portion sound a little bit too fast and too robotic. You might benefit from using eighth note or sixteenth note triplets to write the rolls instead of sixteenth? thirty second? notes... I'm not sure, they just sound like they're divisible by 4. Your strings could use some staccato on the Underground map theme in a couple of places. Short of that, it's really good. Throughout your pieces, if you want them to sound more realistic, you have to account for your wind and brass players to have moments where they can breathe. I don't think I heard your flutist get one breath throughout the entire portion. King Giott: This piece is screaming for french horns and baritones where your trombones are. Oh wait... you brought them in, and... what the hell are they doing? Those countermelodies are really not musical. I Also think having the tuba follow melody here is a bad idea. Let the tuba play bass like it's supposed to. He can have a little solo later if he wants to if everyone else is okay to cut out and let him have a few bars to himself. The Lunar Cave theme... I don't know if it's the patch or the music itself, but something is noticeably off. I don't think your trumpet quite gets up to the note it's supposed to hit... it's like about a half step flat. Also, it's not the greatest trumpet patch. Can you find a shinier one and throw some light delay over it and make it a touch more staccato? Otherwise good job, and thank you for tackling this one! Lunar path... I don't think you should have tried to fill it out. Edward's theme... I'm SO GLAD you tried to fill it out. Stroke of GENIUS. Some atonal harmonies, but forgiveable. 10:18 BRILLIANT piece of work right here. not a note out of place. Rosa's theme had a few wonky harmonies, but was otherwise as gorgeous as I've ever heard given the patch quality you're using. Water Cave... not my favorite work on this piece, but musically correct. Prologue: Oh my God EVERYTHING about this is amazing. Easily my favorite part of the piece. The end before Prelude was GENIUS. Love everything about that. I love your meandering interpretation on Prelude as well.
+CabbitSD Oh, my! I wasn't expecting something this comprehensive! :O Well, I'm sorry for making you go through it all again- but thanks for your time/interest. Hmmm, where the opening is concerned, the discord/dissonance was intentional. From reading through this analysis, it seems like you're not that into discord at large, which is understandable, as it's unpleasant, objectively, to most. I'm guessing that you don't mind it when people use discord here and there to pepper their arrangements in ways which you find tasteful, but in this case, perhaps it was like an unwarranted gysahl pickle in the middle of your pasta, so to speak? I grew up listening to this ua-cam.com/video/L0bcRCCg01I/v-deo.html&feature=youtu.be&t=99 (I copied at one of the parts with war-like discord) and this song certainly affected this piece. Holst's Mars strays from its scale(s) more frequently than any of the sections in my medley. Sorry if it seems like I'm trying to excuse/explain my mistakes. It's just that I don't really think they're mistakes. I don't think that "musically incorrect" should really be considered a thing (unless you want to compare my work to something truly avant garde- avant garde being an another topic altogether, leaning into the "what is music" and "what is art" question.) I'll take "unpleasant", "unconventional" or "dissonant", but not "incorrect." I'm thinking that my execution was, perhaps, the real problem here- that and the fact that I have been using those samples for only a year, so I'll definitely not pretend to be a pro. All that stuff being said, I still think your suggestions are good. The chord progression at 4:11 was definitely intentional. The whole Baron chord progression was planned, deviations and all. I assure that I do understand what I'm writing, even though I'm not classically trained and my taste is different from yours. :3 If I was going to adapt this for a real orchestra, a lot of changes would certainly need to be made. The brass and wind parts would be distributed between players a lot in order to keep the legato going. Perhaps my instrumentation is too experimental- especially where the brass is concerned- for your liking. This medley has some notable chaos. I'm glad that the epilogue/prologue parts were to your liking. I hope I didn't come across as defensive about any of this. If so, I didn't mean to. Your criticisms are valid and welcome. All productive feedback is!
It's true. I'm relatively new to dissonance. My ears are much more accustomed to dissonance that come from chord formations such as augmented and diminished.formations. If those dissonances are planned, then I accept that I am wrong to point them out as mistakes. I must confess... they still make my ears slightly uncomfortable.
Possibly the coolest medley I've created! Enjoy the many flavors and colors of Final Fantasy 4 re-orchestrated!
I despise Gilbert/Edward depending on what version your playing because he is the weakest final fantasy character up to this day. dealing only 15 hitpoints of damage no matter how many times he levels up. also great medley
I love how you opened with that! Also, thanks! Edward is not a fighter, and never was. They made him quite a bit more useful in the DS remake though.
RebeccaETripp you found some use for his bardsongs?

Your style is unique. Thank you.

I'm actually currently running a D&D campaign based off of FFIV
+Jeff G That would be a hell of an awesome campaign.
It's turning out pretty good, they just killed Scar, barely clinging to life. Next is Cagnazzo
Jeff G
That guy is terrifying! So, are they just playing as the FF4 cast, or are people making their own original characters? Or both?
They're playing as their own characters and I get to play as the cast of FFIV. It's really fun roleplaying all the wonderful characters of FFIV and introducing them to people who have never played the game before.
They mainly know Cecil since they travel with him a lot.
They get to see the relationship between Cecil and Rosa, and (my own thing) I made Edward and Rosa best friends.
One of the characters is a dragoon student under Kain, so that's interesting
and another character is part of the guard at Damcyan that joined the party after they met the main cast of FFIV
Jeff G
Oh, man! I wish I was in your campaign, now! I would LOVE that! :D I've often imagined so many things similar to what you're describing! Please remember to tell me how they react when they find out about Kluya, the moon and Zemus! >:D
Cecil's Theme is awesome! Long Live Cecil!
+PrincessUndertaker :D He's one of the most amazing characters in the series.
+RebeccaETripp Kain is a more relatable character. loved the mix. my favorite SNES game.
battheman777 Kain is definitely an awesome character, :)
+RebeccaETripp Final Fantasy 4 Was the first game I ever played ever I never got to finish it but the soundtrack is so awesome
LONG LIVE KING REG...I MEAN, KING CECIL!
wow!! its like playing the game again!
That must have been a good feeling. :)
That ending.... so powerful. And it just happened to come up right as i got something in my eye. :')
I hope you got that thing out of your eye. :3

Very nice! Well done :)
+George Giannou Thanks! :D
Well done!
Thanks!
Thank you.
ff4 has to have the strongest first hour or so of music in the entire series. you get the prelude, the red wings, castle baron, the theme of love, the epilogue/prologue, baron town, the overworld theme, the battle theme, the mist cave and the boss theme. it's like hit after hit of fantastic tunes. i remember the mist cave song in particular giving me goose bumps the first time i heard it. i just turned up the tv and vibed out in silence for awhile, lol. it's like i didn't know that the SNES sound chip was capable of sounding so beautiful until that moment.
Wow every version of "Into the Giant" sounds epic whether it's piano, guitar, orchestal, or the original version.
It's just that epic. I consider it to be the same archetype as Magitek Factory and Musica Machina. The Mako Reactor song is also kind of similar, except it's very slow compared with the others.
shschesschamp
I definitely agree with that assessment,
11:02 - Have I died and gone to Heaven? :) Love Rydia's Theme!
Thank you. ^^
NEEDS MORE VIEWS!
Haha. Thanks. It's only been up a couple of days. Give it time. ;)
I love FFIV so much so it is nice to hear a medley as good as this. I even started writing a story based on FFIV with OCs as well as the original characters :) If anyone wants more info, PM me :)
Back to the actual music though, my favorite is without a doubt Rydia's theme :)
Tainted Wisdom Thank you for the feedback! That's really nice to read. ^_^ I have a full length cover of Rydia if you're interested.
Um YES please :)
I'm also trying so hard to find an image of Rydia, Cecil and Rosa in one picture to make the cover for my FFIV story, True Blue. I am having such a hard time finding it.
ua-cam.com/video/UFV8oKceC5s/v-deo.html
That's the video. As for the image, and the story, tell me more/link, please!
holy shit... this is just beautiful. 10:00
The_Final_Battle I appreciate your comment/username/avatar. :)
Hell yeah!
+Ian Parker ^_^ Glad you approve.
***** Have you seen this yet? ua-cam.com/video/oxZBtnam3FU/v-deo.html
RebeccaETripp Ooh! I'm at work now, I'll have to look at it tonight! I can't wait!
Edit: Yes, actually, I have. But I think I wasn't focusing on listening then.
ファイナルファンタジー4 の曲が一番最高!何年か前ファイナルファンタジーのコンサートに行きましたがその時よりこの動画の方がいいですね!
うわー!ありがとうございました! ^_^
starting to get into the music you do, well, i say get into, wanting to hear your take on them as a final fantasy fan (big style, and religiously) so i listen to first just the medleys i will enjoy and branch, much like i did with pellek, with his ff1/2 with lyrics being good uses of battle themes from them
+Leonard Clements Are you enjoying the medleys so far?
I am, especially the battle medleys and will soon be branching to see what other series i will enjoy
Leonard Clements
:'D
best FFIV medley ever. Are you planing any medley from other FF? (2, 3, 9, 5, 14....)
this is pretty aweome, has that snes sound
The best final fantasy's theme song among every series was in ffiv :')
Oh yeah? What's that? Do you mean FF4's variation of the Epilogue theme or something else?
the prologue song :3
Great Job!, really bring me back memories :), when you have a chance you link the Zeromus theme?
+Nico Garcia You already found it. :P And thanks!
baron castle is my favorite ^^
:D
Now you just need to put all these sweet FInal Fantasy videos in one playlist so I can veg out, haha.
There is such a playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLhsnNwoLVWWO_dUKXtlyFgG77N5Gw6zpj.html
Thanks! You're the bset.
FF IV was my big game music HOLY SHIT moment, too!
Yeah. Something about it stirred me soul, so to speak! I was never the same again!
Do you think you can do the tower of zot theme?
+Nintendostuffncrud It's already on the list. ^_^
how do you do the arrangements?
very impressed! do you mind if I use your work in my own videos? or even helping me with the music in my own works?
You may, as long as you link to my videos and credit me! Thanks for asking!
Matt Doser
Thank you so much!
Matt Doser
Hehe! ^^ Thanks. :3
Humanity should worship you. What soundbank do you use ?
+koopanique Mainly the Eastwest stuff, but I have some Garritan stuff, too. Thanks!
+RebeccaETripp Nice, I didn't know about Garritan. I also use EWQL but I have only the Symphonic Orchestra and Ra which is really cool. I think you must know about it already but Cinebrass is very useful for brass and gives very powerful and realistic brass sounds. Albion III (Iceni IIRC) has a ton of low sounds (brass, strings, perc etc) and I recommend it, for what it's worth
I've also made some FF remixes (FF4 and FF6 main themes) using only EWQL, you can check them if you want. But you won't be as impressed. I've made FF4 because orchestral versions of FF4 main theme are extremely scare and few (almost no version of the FF4 main theme played by a real orchestra! Shame...). So I'm also really glad the main theme shows up in your work.
+koopanique Cinebrass... I'd like to get my hands on that! :D I'll go check out some of your work now.
Very good imitation, some songs were really close and others needed some fine tuning like the moon theme/naming way song.
I revisited that theme more recently. :)
👍
would be better to watch the gameplay with this medley. please make a video for this one
Lindo demais! FFIV é meu segundo preferido! Só perde pro FFVI
+Ernest Rychard Obrigado! Eu fiz um medley de 6 bem . :)
Thank you- as always Rebecca. A little gift for your hard work :p BOLLYWOOD - FIGHT CLUB -2 _004
Hahaha. Thank you. :P
hi!
Lali ho!
Musically incorrect in a lot of places. Inspiring enough a very big like, however.
+CabbitSD Well, thanks. Would you mind pointing out some of these places, if you can remember where they were?
I don't think that "musically incorrect" should really be considered a thing (unless you want to compare my work to something truly avant garde- avant garde being an another topic altogether, leaning into the "what is music" and "what is art" question.) I'll take "unpleasant", "unconventional" or "dissonant", but not "incorrect."
I'm thinking that my execution was, perhaps, the real problem here- that and the fact that I have been using those samples for only a year, so I'll definitely not pretend to be a pro. All that stuff being said, I still think your suggestions are good.
The chord progression at 4:11 was definitely intentional. The whole Baron chord progression was planned, deviations and all. I assure that I do understand what I'm writing, even though I'm not classically trained and my taste is different from yours. :3
If I was going to adapt this for a real orchestra, a lot of changes would certainly need to be made.
I must confess... they still make my ears slightly uncomfortable.
disharmony....
Thank you.
You're very welcome! ^_^
