Thumbs up for removing the hubcaps too. That's something other reviewers haven't thought of doing. Even my local dealership won't let me mess with them.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I love having a ton of buttons. The closer my interior looks to a fighter jet cockpit, the happier I am. I really like Teslas in a lot of ways, for example, but I cannot stand the emptiness of the Model 3 interior.
As a fellow 2010 owner waiting for my 2023, this is so helpful! Great hearing your thoughts on what is different from an upgrade perspective and an actual owner. Props man!
I am really impressed with this kind of review If you are seriously looking to buy a car, This sub category, focusing on with "the driver interaction" is useful It's easier to sort out your choices between cars
Incredible video. As I am waiting for new information on PHV variant, this was probably the most informative review I saw so far. It is great to see real usage experience and not just launching the car 0 → 60.
@mrrod3004 Please check your info again, you don't know what you're talking about. 2023 Prius Primes are FWD ONLY! And only the plug-in version has usable EV range!
Thank you for this honest review of the LE. I was looking everywhere for this. We’re looking to buy one but haven’t had the chance to actually sit in one.
I bought the supersonic red Limited a week ago. About 300 miles of mixed city and Highway driving. Loving the car and features. My only complaint is the head ducking needed to get into the seat. I had to change style of getting in: butt first, duck head and swing in legs. It gets some attention on the street.
Thanks for the review. Toyota's web site shows under 'Specs' that the LE, XLE and Limited all have '60/40 split fold-down rear seats with center armrest.' I guess they need to update their site.
I enjoyed your review, thank you. We have a 2024 Prius Prime SE. I believe it's the equivalent to the LE sold in The US. Not sure if it's due to different markets (US vs Canada), or, if it's because this is a Prime version, but the SE here has standard equipment the LE lacks. For instance, our rear seat has an armrest, we have heated seats, steering wheel, and, automatic headlights. However, like your car the LED dash strip is missing and, I suspect, like with yours, the hatch lip lacks illumination. This is our first PHEV but third Prius. Our first two were almost flawless over 16 years and we feel confident the new one will be the same. Love the thing so far. Here in Canada we qualified for a $ 5,000 rebate, making the Prime the same cost as the regular model. In some provinces you'd get $ 8,500 in rebates ! We wanted a Prime because gas here is $6.75 a gallon but hydro is only .1325kwh. After 6,000Km (3,750m), we have used less than 1.5 tanks of fuel. The car is rated for 44 miles (70.4Km), in EV Mode, but we are getting 90+Km. This morning, the computer estimated a 96Km range. The only highway trip so far returned 62mpg. And with its 223hp the thing is quick, 60 in 6.48. Hope you enjoy yours for many years.
Good review, thank you. In some of the next videos, could you try to measure noise during stable maximum highway speed? Could you also show the complete space under the floor of the boot space? I am wondering how the AWD affects the space under the floor of the boot. Could you also test the headlights at night?
Personally, I think the bizarre hashtags are hilarious. Such a strange, inexplicable decision from an otherwise fairly serious company. Great usability review, appreciated it.
Get the new M3 - Vented and heated seats, plenty of bolstering for boney butts - Something fun for the weekends. Just came back from the dealer, placed an order for a Prius LE AWD for work use. Can't wait. Thanks for pointing out the quirks, still can't wait for my new workhorse..
Thanks for all the info. So you tossed your jacket into the back seat without having opened a back door since your last drive? Most systems are based on a rear door having been opened.
Thank you for going over the details so well. I'm a new owner and I'm still learning how to operate everything. The owner's manual is way too complicated.
Great review. Not a love fest, which is good. You need to do a piece about the rear wheel push and what they have for flat tire remedies. Why they have wheel covers/// I will never figure out. (Something to throw in the basement on top of the the other two sets I have.)
The video seems to cut abruptly. Looking forward to the rest of it. Interesting review so far, with more real life comments then the stuff that a gazillion UA-camrs posted from reading a press release and using all the same vehicle they got at the Toyota event driven on the same route.
Here in San Diego we have a $6,000 markup. There is an additional 300 floor mats, 150 door Edgar, 70 charger and 69 for bumper sticker. And deliver fee of $1,000.
6k mark up, simply walk away. I live in Arizona MSRP for the Prius Le model $29,600 + 1k destination charge. * When Toyota announced the new model for 2023, they stated the Prius LE price would be $27,600. Have yet to find that price... * I currently drive my 2005 Prius w 165,000 miles no issues, may wait to purchase the 2023 model.
Thanks for this review @ISBYVR! Is there a spare tire in the LE? I've seen mention that there isn't in the other models, but that there is in the LE. Thanks!
thanks for the review! I just picked up my Prius LE last Tuesday, great milage on the highway...64mpg, Have you noticed a soft humming noise with driving slow, 20 to 25 mph in EV mode? I just noticed it yesterday. thank you!
Will you do more videos as your ownership experience progresses? Thank you for making that video . Im seriously considering buying the limited Aa’s model with guardian grey paint
Fantastic review. Thank you for the nuances that salespeople will not mention. Will a tall person fit (like 6'3")? I am disappointed the Prius lost its former utility. My father used his like a small truck. Can you imaging the new Prius as a Taxi Cab?
Nice candid review. Very informative. However, I would like to see a review that includes comfort riding in the back. I sat in the back of a 2023 Prius yesterday and almost felt trapped in the back. Backseat headroom is an issue for anyone over 6' and while the legroom is fine in back, your feet are almost wedged in under the front seats.
Just a heads up. My 2023 Corolla Hybrid SE AWD had the same flickering vanity light on the passenger side. It's seemed to clear up a bit as time has passed. I seriously thought there was a issue with the car as soon as I left the dealer.
It has android auto and apple carplay so you don't even really need the built in navigation. It does also have built in navigation, but again, why would you when google maps are nearly flawless and you can even use ways.
Can that display be replaced by the 12 inch display? The footprint and the shelf are all the same. Depends on the cable and connections-would think it to be the same as they would not make separate instrument panels just for the display.
I really like that you can change the smart Cruise to dumb cruise. My mom has a newish palisade and it ONLY has smart cruise. If your radar is muddy, well sucks 5 suck, you're pedaling the whole way back.
I actually have the car myself. My personally experience is pretty sporadic. I'm kinda a lead foot driving 75-85mph and it seems to depend entirely on if the car wants to use EV mode. On the dash there's a semicircle that shows your efficiency. In general being in the blue or half way in the blue allows the car to run fully in EV mode, but the car decides itself if it wants to. I will say the first drive I had in the car from the deal was a solid 51.3mpg and that was mostly highway but with stoplights. My drive to and from work tends to be a similar 47-49.5mpg. The best I ever saw was 67.4mpg driving some back roads. From my experience the most consistent gas saver is stopping at red lights nearly always activates EV mode. The main inconsistency is that it seems to not like turning on EV mode till the car has been running for a bit. If you drive a short commute it may only start kicking in half way there like it does for me. I only have a 10 mile commute to work and once it starts working I see the fuel economy improve. Because of this though it does seem longer drives benefit it best. As a whole though my average seems to be about 50.3mpg. As a test I just drove it to the gas station down the street a couple times and hit the rock bottom result of 35.3mpg. It was only like a half mile trip, but that is the worst possible result with stop light after stop light, no EV mode, and a short trip.
I appreciate your honest overview. I think I'm going to pass on this generation due to practical design mishaps like less headroom and poor rear visibility.
I sat in a 2023 Prius and the headroom in the front seats is still pretty good for anyone under 6'-2". However, the rear seat headroom is a problem for someone 6'-2" and taller. But the rear seats feel roomier overall than the old Prius. It's just the headroom that is less.
I really like your review, you have things in here that are not anywhere else. Just a little tidbits that come from carefully considering the features on the car. I am definitely considering getting the new Prius. I think I will go for the front wheel drive Limited it seems like the best way to get one is to buy one use with 4 to 6000 miles on it then you don’t have the long wait. I don’t know I would have to compare how much it would cost to buy it new compared to that way. I have not actually driven on one yet. I am wondering how easy it will be to get in for someone that is 6 foot tall and a large frame. My current drive is a Pontiac vibe which has been very reliable and a great car that has a Toyota engine. Thanks for the review
dealer told the you cant get a smart key in the LE. This is a base LE with no additional packages right? I just dont want to have to get out keys to get into car or start it. They really acted like you would have to use the fob to gain entry.
To be honest I love that they changed the locking sound.., although I don’t have a Toyota (I have a 2017 Honda CR-V and the beeps just aren’t loud enough sometimes to let me know I successfully locked it from around a corner like a honk would or this sound would be loud enough
Corolla Cross is kinda a different market. The Prius main comparisons are the basic Corolla and Camry. The Camry is also about the same price while the Corolla almost has the same fuel economy, is cheaper, but has way more road noise. The Corolla Cross is more a smaller RAV4. Knowing the RAV4, I assume it also has kinda poor road noise. Plus the Corolla Cross and RAV4 do just have worse fuel economy than anything else I named. Everything else can get close to or above 50mpg while the RAV4 and Corolla Cross get around 38-45mpg. If you really need the space or you're really tall you'll probably like the bigger cars. But they will cost more and are harder to find. The RAV4 is probably the most sawt after vehicle on the market.
Nice Review. I may have to get the LE trim because a few other reviews say that is the only trim with a Compact Spare Tire available as an option. Is your LE Prius FWD or AWD and did it come with Tire Repair Mobility Kit? Was the Spare Tire option offered to you?
I have the LE just like he has in the the video, no you don't get a spare tire, just a repair kit. As far as I know, none of them have a spare tire. Many consumers have complained about poor storage space and therefore more cars are moving to remove the spare tire.
@@netmann1492 LE FWD. It doesn't matter, none have a spare. If a spare is a necessary thing for you, you'd have to get the Camry instead. Both the Corolla and Prius only have repair kits and an electronic pump. I mean, the Camry does have slightly more horse power and a very close fuel rating if it really matters to you. Downsides are the prius does ride slightly smoother from my experience, the Camry seats seem lower to the ground (not sure why), the Camry takes up more space (but some are sensitive to space so it may be a good thing), and the prius being lighter does mean it feels faster even with a lower hp rating. The positives of a Camry instead are a more traditional looking car, more cargo space, HUD, projector headlights the turn with the wheel and automatically dip up and down, and slightly more headroom..
@@Skylancer727 Thanks for the detailed reply... I am aware all Prius come with the sealant and compressor tire repair kit. I am interested to know if trims (at least the FWD ones) come with a tire well and a raised threaded mount to secure it below the white foam inserts in the cargo area. Would you please check that in your car and let me know...? Also, while in there, can you check if you can see two other Screw Mounts to secure the foam inserts around the compact spare tire (page 376 of driver manual) in the cargo bottom base metal? The foam screw mounts should be at the tail end of cargo on the opposite side of tail light...Thank You.
Depends how the driver drives . 60 or lower makes it better for mpg . Mine is 62 mpg 60,000 miles . Plug in as much as possible helps with the mpg numbers
This has been the most honest and straight forward 2023 Toyota Prius review I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much!
Dude, this is one of the most straight forward review, awesome!
Thumbs up for removing the hubcaps too. That's something other reviewers haven't thought of doing. Even my local dealership won't let me mess with them.
They probably get you an extra 1 or 2mpg
I really like how utilitarian they made the interior. No extra fancy shenanigans. Just simple necessities.
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I love having a ton of buttons. The closer my interior looks to a fighter jet cockpit, the happier I am. I really like Teslas in a lot of ways, for example, but I cannot stand the emptiness of the Model 3 interior.

The plug-in version will only be available in FWD, 0-60 time is around 6.6 seconds, and the EV only range is about 40 miles.
Yeah good luck getting a plug in variant. They are only making 10k as battery resources are limited.

Yes but some people like it higher. Personally I lowered it nearly as far as it goes. Better for one handed driving on the highway.

How much MPG you average with the AWD version?
This is the Toyota Prius to buy. The extras you get on the XLE and Limited are not worth it. For that price you might as well get the Prius Prime.
XLE. 35k. Large screen. 19 “ rims. Heated seats. 2 sunroofs. Worth it
You show a map on the center display but didn’t mention navigation. Does the LE have navigation? If not, what was that map view you showed?

Wow I love this review, especially from the point of view of someone else who previously has a Prius.

does the le have lumbar support and does the lower back feel supportive?
how high of a highway speed are you talking about with regards to road noise becoming an issue?
does toyota prius have front parking sensors?thanks

great review!
is there any way we can hear the wind noise you're talking about?
To presentation is great and this is very informative I'm hoping I can get my hands on this car late this year
Forget about the steering wheel blocking the dash. Could they make it tinier? Does it come with a magnifying glass to read it?
I more hate that it dims when you turn on the headlights so I can't turn them on before the sun goes down as then I can't see how fast I'm going.

What does it cost?
I’m really confused what’s the difference between the regular Prius and the prime? There is no comparison anywhere
What’s the mpg difference
Hi, on highway speed, how many mpg do you get? Could you please share it if you have? Thank you
I actually have the car myself.
Great information, had no idea there wasn't auto headlights, rear center console, or wireless charging on base model.
Ours has auto headlights

How are the MPGs, does it actually get ~55? A review of the XLE here on UA-cam showed ~46.
Depends how the driver drives . 60 or lower makes it better for mpg . Mine is 62 mpg 60,000 miles . Plug in as much as possible helps with the mpg numbers
Canadian version have auto light and heated seat I think
Does the LE awd have a spare tire?
