    Hey all!
    I have written a full article on this topic as well, just in case I missed something in the video.
    Here are the links to the article, topology overview and bot breakdown :)

    You're a great service to many. Understanding topology and edge flow can be a constant struggle depending on what you're making. That's one of the reasons I enjoy being a 3D model artist. Having to think about how I'd tackle something, thinking outside of the box, etc. One can learn a lot from such hurdles.

    Hey Elementza, thank you so much for providing all this great content for free!
    For the next one, think you could focus more on the topology theory behind merging/booleaning shapes? Thats imo the most difficult and time consuming part for me. Got ur course a while ago, which really explains it all in depth. But it would be great to have a shorter tutorial like this to refer to whenever stuck

    AWESOME ELEMENTZA !!!!I have a question when you apply smooth in Maya, is it the same as subvididir? I work in blender and the maya can be subdivided but also use the surface subdivision, I don't know when you apply one or the other, greetings!

    • @Elementza
      @Elementza  3 роки тому +2

      Smooth operation in Maya will add more geometry while Smooth Preview will not add geometry. Its just a preview. Hope I understood it right :)

      Hi, Also using Blender. It depends on what you want to achieve which one you would choose. Subdivide (under Edge tab) keeps the shape the same and subdivision surface (Under modifier) makes it smooth and both adds geometry. Use two cubes and apply subdivide on the one and cube is still a cube and subdivision surface on the other and the cube turns into a sphere. I use subdivision surface more often but you need to add edge loops/bevels/crease to keep the shape. In object mode, right click, shade smooth do not add extra geometry and it appears smooth.

      @@maschinelab8598
      I would def suggest checking attached video... you´ll find the answer if you´re interested in more technical explanation why deformations happen. As for our example here, the level of topology and camera distance matters for the result. For an optimal range, any deformation here is very minimal and would not have any serious impact on final results.
      In case the object would be closer to the camera (or a hero asset) then approach would be different (more subdivisions and no redirection).
