So basically, CSGO _does_ have lore, and that lore is that we're basically a bunch of mercenaries fighting for unseen governing bodies? Bro this is literally just Team Fortress 2 but with M16's and AK47's.
In the original game, maps have short descriptions about the lore and objective of both the CT and T. They're mostly retconned in CSGO though, still pretty cool to add small details to maps.
@@camerondelandro83 For the Ts,, yeah, but not on the CTs. The CTs are basically real life authorities trained and deployed for counterterrorism. There's a military faction (SEAL 🇺🇸, SAS 🇬🇧, IDF 🇮🇱), police force (GSG-9 🇩🇪, Police SWAT), gendarmerie (GIGN 🇫🇷), and government agency (FBI).
I've played the missions and barely payed attention to the lore behind them and it's really cool. Besides, I think it would have been awesome if Valve kept the maps as a single player campaign but the vision they have with CS is to push skins (aka virtual pixels) and its competitive scene.
I like how you've told the story of Counter Strike here, it's got a really (cool) different vibe from the kind Vaati-esque video I made, is nicely paced and editted. I also like the way the vagueness of the lore lends to slightly different interpretations whenever someone tries to break it down, I liked hearing a similar but also different perspective to mine (your take on train was really interesting).
After hearing about the lore to this, I still wonder about groups such as the Professionals, Anarchists, Pirates, Elite Crew, and other in-game terrorist groups. Are they involved in this conflict, or are their battles merely taking place parallel to the fight between the Coalition and the Phoenix Connexion? Still so much that Valve hasn't touched on yet, and it makes me very curious
It could be simply that they've taken inspiration from what they see as the most successful and well-organized terrorist organization and mimick their style of operation.
The Separatists are based off the ETA, an actual terrorist organisation that used to operate in Spain and France, taking this into consideration, it's most likely that they're fighting their own battles unrelated to the Phoenix Connexion (though I do find it weird how the British SAS are fighting them in Inferno) Same could be said about the Anarchists and Pirates, considering how their apparitions are very few, we could assume they are disorganised small groups with their own agendas and objectives set aside from the Phoenix Connexion's, the Pirates' being, obviously, piracy, since they're based off most likely Somalian pirates (I don't know how planting a C4 helps with that though). The Anarchists being mere renegades and outcasts of society, using their own funds to buy weapons and such The Professionals from what I remember are mercenaries that do what the highest bidder has to offer, so one could theorise that the Phoenix Connexion, in an attempt to have a bit more of manpower, has hired the Professionals in order to carry out more attacks at the same time (We could debunk this though, if we consider that the PC is not in the best condition to be hiring mercs) Lastly, for the Elite Crew, it's something similar to the Seps, they have their own goals in the Middle East, unrelated to what the Phoenix Connexion wants, at most having a neutral relationship with them where they agree to not interfere with each other's plans and actions srry for the essay lmao i also like this
This just makes me REALLY wish that Valve made a campaign of some kind for this story! Or maybe make videos like "Meet the Team" for TF2. Where we see and witness CT and T stories! But I think they're more focused on milking money from community skins and making CS2 to focus on that.
In some maps, there are actually some details that giveaways on how the Terrorists reached the site. Back in the old days, you could see the maps description and each of team's objectives on details. Such as, the map background and why's it important, Ts objective, and CTs importance role on why are they deployed in the first place.
