Likewise with the parents lending her that money.
I don't care how "golden child" she is to them - they own a business themselves, if they were stupid enough to make a move like this then their business would have failed just as quickly as their daughters did.
Given the fact that it has been going for a long time it makes no sense for them to be so stupid with their money.
Better to just let her have a useless position at their own company.
Or better still, just give her an allowance and leave it at that.

The part you are missing is emotional abuse and manipulation.
When a child goes through their life being ignored, the mind starts putting every moment of hurt, frustration, resentment, grief, and sadness into a box like Schrodinger's cat; a superposition where the moments are both an approval and a rejection. But when one side gets validated, the box is opened allowing an instantaneous bombardment of all those moments carrying the same verdict.
In short, it's like feeling 19 years of verbal abuse condensed into a single second.

I think the woman was very much an ungrateful woman and she was the one at fault trying to guilt trip him which is honestly such a pathetic move OP deserves better and the daughter needs a better mother figure because not only did she grow without a father figure. But the mother isn't just one of the worst when it comes to staying with one guy at a time (in my humble opinion)

  • @k.a.89

The first story feels like watching a villain origin story.
The OP was undoubtedly messed up for constantly competing with her sister, actively trying to stomp her in every arena, but you understand why she did it. She seemed to think parental love was earned through competition, so she challenged her sister at every turn. She seemed to think they were rivals, but it was obvious that she didn't see her as an enemy until they came barging into the life she built for herself, demanding that she give it all up for a family that didn't care whether she was alive or dead, and even resented her for being alive.
I feel bad for both of the sisters, but as much as I feel for the older sister, I believe she knew that she was constantly being favored and did nothing to protect the OP while it was happening.
And that was wrong of her.

Story 2: I had to double-check that I heard right when she said "If we spent more time together, this never would have happened." Okay, first off, you talk to your partner if you think you aren't spending enough time together, not jump into bed with another person. Second, he was insisting before to hang out more, but you pushed him away! Honestly, she's full of it and never meant well for this man who went all-out trying to do good for her and her family. Credit to the daughter for not putting up with her mom's BS, too.

Second story: she is clearly an awful person and d thankfully her daughter knows it too… so she will get her comeuppance one day… sorry for the loss of ice cream… i love chocolate too.
1st story: just wow… she has gone through too much with her own family to help them… at that point I would call it a day and choose the bff family any day… like don’t claim them and they won’t claim you. Such a mess when parents play favorites… that really wrecks kids for life.

1st story: OP does not sound bitter and resentful, she sounds like a massive, arrogant jerk. It would have been one thing to constantly put down her sibling that she has a rivalry with, but calling her best friend a 'little anxiety pill' is just downright disturbing. The way she talks about her bff's dad funding her college doesn't sits entirely well with me either, something's off about it.
OP gives off the vibe that she's toxic just like her family with the sole difference that she is the black sheep.
