  • Dust off a stool and enjoy a little discussion about liquid cooling options for our spindle kits or an add-on chiller for your current spindle kit. The CW-3000 chiller is not CNC manufacturer specific and can be utilized on almost every model of CNC that does not require active cooling with refrigeration. For that you may need a CW-5000 active chiller.

    Great information to have. I'm in Texas and even with a mini-split system my shop temperature can reach 84 degrees if I've been running the planer and dust collection for a while so I plan on using a remote reading thermometer in the 5 gallon pail and adding a freezer block to the bucket when necessary. Considering the RV anti-freeze for pump longevity as opposed to the methanol in the windshield washer fluid. Thanks for the tips.

    I created my own "chiller" with pc cooling components. I used a single 120mm fan and radiator and added a flow and temperature sensor to send alarms to masso. The best part is it's small and mounted to the conroller box. Total fluid capacity is about 24oz, works great.

      THIS. So much easier, fairly inexpensive, and it's a closed loop that doesn't get sawdust in it.

      The other thing is that there are cheaper CW-3000 options available as well if you're willing to shop around. I recently purchased a brand new Vevor branded one for ~$120 on ebay including tax and shipping. Warehoused in NJ apparently. So it's something to keep in mind considering it's a turn-key solution. As far as I can tell on the insides, they're nearly identical to the S&A ones PwnCNC is selling.
      Trying to import it yourself on aliexpress definitely doesnt save you any money in this case.

      This is the route I would go, even a mediocre AIO would probably handle the heat put out by the router, given the right climate of the shop itself.

    These guys are awesome, customer service is second to none Im so pleased to be using there products.... Now lets talk about the noise level of that chiller is it quite...

      Daniel actually experimented with changing out the fan for one with very expensive bearings and discovered it made absolutely no difference.
      The fan blowing over the coils can be heard but in comparison to a shop vacuum/dust collector (even mounted outside, in another room or in a cabinet) a bit cutting material or even the cnc when it is moving around the chiller will never be heard. It can be compared to the fan noise of the VFD-Enclosure when it kicks on... the chiller might be just a bit noisier but not by much.

    I am using the "Superthane Ether" with the Rowdy Roman cable chain clips and it works great. The first few hours of use it made the cable chains bow-up when there was movement but by the next day it relaxed and is now working flawlessly. I love that it is perfectly clear and you can see the water pumping through when the IoT Relay kicks on the pump.

    Kudos. I think it is great that you added this relatively inexpensive option for your water cooled spindles.

    I just bought your chiller, excited to actually use it. The smaller pump just wasnt doing it for me and would just stop pumping halfway through a job, I'm assuming it was just getting too hot, hopefully this fixes the problem

    Are you talking about using window washing fluid (Windex) or windsheild washer fluid (for a car)?

    • @PwnCNC
      @PwnCNC  7 місяців тому

      for your car... far cheaper. Goal is to prevent any growths in the water and tank.

    I have a 2.2kw spindle. The submersible pump that came with it is rated at 3200L/H which is 53L/M. The CW3000's on Amazon pump at 10L/M. Is the flow rate of the CW3000 sufficient for my spindle?

    • @PwnCNC
      @PwnCNC  4 місяці тому +1

      Indeed it is. The chiller is more than sufficient for cooling the spindle during long carves.

    I have a non climate controlled shop and sometimes it reaches up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Will the chiller do a better job than the regular pump to keep my spindle cool.

      The key with spindles is you want them running at or just above ambient temps. A CW-3000 chiller is great at keeping the spindle at ambient. If you use something like a CW-5000, you'll want to make sure the temp controls are set to ambient. Even as the ambient changes through out the day, the temp should be set to close to that.

    what do you recommend for tube management?

    • @PwnCNC
      @PwnCNC  3 місяці тому

      We're working on a few options but nothing has solidified just yet. Currently our recommendation is to look into RowdyRoman's tube-clips. They're decent. Another option we've found is UglyDog has a "larger cable chains" upgrade available which might work well, although i have no experience with either solution.

      Can you run and regulate each at the same time? My co2 laser sets right beside my Elite. I might have to look into that if anything ever happens to my CW-5000 that came with my Thunder Laser.

    Bonjour, votre refroidisseur cw-3000 peut-il être alimenté au norme européen soit en 220 volts?

    • @PwnCNC
      @PwnCNC  4 місяці тому +1

      Hello, unfortunately at this time we only offer the CW-3000 chillers in 110v.
      We will look further into having available stock for 220v.

      @PwnCNC thank you, i live in Arizona and my garage gets pretty toasty. Still debating if this could be a good option for a 220v spindle i will be ordering from pwncnc.

      Yeah it definitely had that feel to it. We're trying to be more informative with our videos and more thought out so they don't feel ad-like.
      Regardless, this video does have some good info for those trying to decide which system they want to go with.
