- This was a fun one. As you can imagine, my obsession doesn't just stop in the garage drawers. I want my kitchen drawers to be fully organized too. I love using the Hafele stuff to organize the drawers for my utensils, flatware, and my pots and pans. This is a super simple install and with a table saw, you can do your entire kitchen in a couple hours if that!
We make this Hafele available here:

Black receptacles would have been better for sure. You're on it, Mike.
Black outlet covers💪😎🇺🇸
The cleaning and scratching tho..
@@stany09they're like car door handles. Only careless people scratch them.
Black outlet covers matter
K24ITR ....just the BLACK ones....
Black outlet covers 👍
Cover the outlets with Schluder and put a Sconce above it
The gap should go along the front of the spatula drawer, not the rear. That way you can open the drawer slightly to access those items easily. You should never have to fully open that drawer if configured this way. I must say, I'm having drawer envy! 😂😂
Exactly. Even with the slot in the front. You don't have to fully open the drawer to get what you need.
But the aesthetics are better with the gap in the back.
@@chasemer6 Don't worry, you'll be too distracted with the white outlet, off-centered outlet covers at the coffee bar to be concerned with that aesthetic😜
@@chasemer6 aesthetics don't matter. 1 month later, how everything inside the drawer looks wont matter as much as how everything functions. In reality it doesn't matter in this scenario. The owners of this kitchen don't cook daily meals, so how well it functions is low on the priority list. People who cook daily want function over form.
I'm with you Mike. Black outlets. Also in the laundry room with the brass tile. Also the house looks way less "sterile" with all the white that was in there as you keep adding things, like the kitchen cabinets and counters etc. Just like Matt was saying. Trust the process!
Mike is a skillfully guy when comes to precision measurements and thinking about modifications
Black receptacles most definitely . just like how you added the extra lights for the ceiling for the aesthetic.. gotta keep it flowin the same....just cant get over the chrome yet... great job as usual guys
You don’t use a knife steel to sharpen, unless it’s a diamond impregnated knife steel; which I strongly oppose the use of the latter. A knife steel is used to deburr the knife edge after use/storage, between sharpenings. As you regularly use your knives the edge begins to vary and in some cases bulge. Used properly a knife steel doesn’t remove metal but pushes and hones the edge back into shape. This actually helps knives last longer as it helps keep the blade sharper, longer, between actual sharpening sessions in which you actually remove metal to form a desired edge.
Spot on. Matt loves to exact like he knows all, but really he's just full of shit half the time.
Thanks for clarifying. I know enough to be dangerous, but knives aren’t my thing.
Life is learning and life leads some to learn different lessons than others but we all have the opportunity to learn more.
@@ObsessedGarage I made a man more dangerous with knives even; mission accomplished!
@@Errb_SulakyC'mon you gotta respect the comeback 😂
Black covers, definitely!
*Drop the garage, and just keep the OBSESSED! I know a drill sergeant when I see one* 😂
The aluminium hinges on the black door to match the aluminium look of all the kitchen appliances contrasting the matte+gloss black furniture and the dark silver tile is a truly genius piece of detail! Fascinating!
Loving this whole video series. That being said, it shouldn't take 45m to make a grilled cheese. The obsession is turning into inefficiency
It's gotta be said. Out of all the series I have watched, I think this was the easiest to comment on. Definitely feels like you all actually want to have a conversation with the audience. Hopefully it's been helping with the algorithm
Man this project has been wonderful to watch! Such awesome craftsmanship from ALL of you gentlemen and partners, but the "design" details Laurel missed on are SO damn loud. Just a few tile changes would've made a HUGE difference. The project is still a success! Bravo. Black covers Mike.
The lighting itself is a work of art. Apart from the kitchen tile, everything is beautiful.
Looking Great! Love the details.
The spacer over fridge looks great. I busted chops over that last episode. Good job! Looks great. Black plates.
this is amazing, I love this entire series. Matt is great and mike is so good, even mike behind the camera. keep it up
That interior is beautiful!
Good job you guys, nice episode and great that Matt’s starting to work again
No shortage of dazzling things to look at here. Ceiling contrasting colors, lighting, the tile adds texture in places, (not boring plain walls). 👍 Kitchen area, cabinets, appliances, faucet, etc.. Could go on and on. All is:🔥
For me, the two lights being off centre would be a big deal. I feel due to them being a feature wall with 'bold' tile choices, peoples eyes will be drawn there first and will comment on the light placement more than you'd think. I'd be sad if I spent $100k+ on a kitchen/family room and something so simple ( before tile admittingly ) wasn't rectified.
It’s fine. You wouldn’t know unless I told you. Everyone is just looking for an excuse to tell me this all sucks. I’m living in the house right now, and it feels great. It’s Matt approved.
I saw it immediately, but I know it would be a pain to correct now. Maybe Laurel can come up with an idea to make it less obvious.
Personally, very impressed with the quality of work from whats been showed and even the design choices. As a European, we don't really get this 'loft' style - very envious. Wasn't intended as a comment to shit on anyone involved - apologies for that. @@ObsessedGarage
The kitchen looks AWESOME also black outlet covers are the way to go but white is not bad. Good job, Mike!
Mike and Matt just out there dialing in EVERYTHING.... Those Japanese Damascus blades are beautiful! I'm liking those drawer dividers!
It's cool to see the obsessed garage obsession carry over to the kitchen where everything has a spot and is meticulously organized.
What a long way this project has come! I know you guys may be ready to get out of dodge and start the new OGHQ, but please see this through to the end. Fix the coffee bar light spacing and get everything else up to OG spec. Yes, you will have to redo some tile and move the box, but you guys have made everything else perfect. See this project through to the end!
I’m not doing that. It’s fine.
i just needed that upload!! pure happiness OG
I won a set of those silverware at a company party they are wonderful. They have a nice weight to them, they're smooth and easy to clean. You made the right choice sir
Definitely black outlets. Awesome job on this project!
The place looks amazing 👏🏾👏🏾
Matt really wants every space in the world to be just like his. I wonder if Adam and collet just agreed and decided they would just set things up as the want when he finished. Matt sets up a kitchen like a man that has a wide array of frozen meals in his freezer 😂
This series really highlighted for me how stuck up Matt is. I come for the Mike and Mike show, Matt ruins the vibe.
That's pretty good for Adam and Collette then as besides from take-out/Uber what else do they eat? They both don't really cook, whether that be lack of time or lack of skill/drive to cook.
This house is basically just Matt's pet project to sell his brand, so it's not surprising (or a bad thing, really)... But still, thousands of dollars on drawer organizers just for them to stay closed while Adam and Collette eat takeout every night is wild.
Imagine a world where you have a hyper organized, experienced person to put together a group of people to take care of your every need for free. That’s what is happening here.
That's exactly how I felt. While i usually can accept Matt things cause I have a bit of OCD myself, but this episode made me feel like Matt has never been cooking in a kitchen before, only looking at stuff in the kitchen xD.
Awesome job Guys!!!!
Been waiting for this!
I'm gonna miss this series. Hopefully HQ rebuild is as exciting.
the progress is insane and the level of details that Matt goes into wow that's true passion.
No way you could pay hourly for that kind of passion.
So over the top anal and OCD.....it's perfect
Yeah, agree on black receptacles. I have all grey Lutron throughout my house.
Looking great in the kitchen
Thank you
Looking good fellas
I understand this build is very marmite. Many things people either hate or love but about the kitchen tiles - I LOVE them. Looks absolutely perfect to me. Well done 👏🏻
I don’t mind the tile so much it’s the cabinet handles that ruin the kitchen for me. Plus the black cabinetry.
That cheap stripclub tiles need to go asap..we're not letting this one slide Matt needs to fix it!!
@@renierbothma7815lmao. I’m with you! Looks like a bathroom wall at topless steakhouse.
Everybody whispers when they are happy. 1/2 inch minus the baby😂😂😂. You guys are awesome.
Cant wait to see the kitchen full!
Tile is always hard to look at in an empty space, I just did a bathroom project and tought the tile looked aweful, until the decoration came in, then it blends and makes a nice contrast.
Ive seen tons of negative comment but im sure nobody sees the quality of work that yall are putting up there.
Adam and Colette will be set for life!
Nice work and keep it up!
No one with any brain doubts the quality of the project. I'm not a big fan of the pattern either, but I think the real challenge is the gloss finish. It was also originally only supposed to be above That section rather than across the entire wall across the top. It is going to need a lot of decorative treatment to try and dull it down.
Yeah, those high-quality TM cardboard cabinets are one of the core marks of quality in this project, as are the baseboards, the wiring, the tile on the living room accent wall and the tasteful design, am I right or am I right@@VapedTalon
Love the calling matty out
Looking good Boys!!!
I don't want this to end
That right side fridge door looking a tad dented. 👀 Black covers too. Also, just noticed the outside green railing is noticeable from the inside and should probably just be a quick spray to black to match window framing.
No
It's fun seeing the progression of mike's camera presence thru the build, he could solo-star on a channel now if he wanted lol
Not only Black outlet plates but actual black outlets by Leviton or somebody. It is all in the details😅😂
Black outlet covers. No question
House looks amazing Adam And collet congratulations 🎉🎉🎉👏 I
Yep Matt definitely has it
Black covers for the outlets for sure!
Black in that space for sure. 😊
Gorgeous set up in the kitchen - shames mine 😭
Black outlets a must
Great job 🤘
black outlets and paint the duct black inside register near the refrigerator.
Nice cabinet system there Matt. Efficient and quality
Oh my.....the metallic backsplash...that is an interesting choice.
We're getting close!!
Black outlet covers
I know Adam and Collette won't be hosting fancy gatherings but if it's not already on the list/ordered serving spoons and ladles are a few items that can fill in them empty spots with the silverware/cutlery. for the knife drawer the steak knives should be on the opposite side/closer to the cutlery.
Safety-wise, exterior lights should remain on at night, especially when you’re gone so the exterior is illuminated when you return.
The steel is not for sharpening, it's for honing. I thought for sure someone like you would know the difference between honing and sharpening.
He comes across as a know it all but in reality, just looks for what is most expensive and says “I researched this for you and found it’s the best because it’s the most expensive.”
@@thedesertprepper4479 no one is a know it all on all subjects, I wish he had more humility when he doesn't know instead of reverting to defense mode. It's ok to acknowledge your mistake and learn from it.
Isn’t that exactly what I was referring to in the video? I just didn’t know how to explain it, but I knew it wasn’t for sharpening. I just avoid using it since I don’t know when the best time to use it would be.
black for sure on the outlet covers coffee bar!
black! also you can setup and automation to turn all off except the outside lights when its night
The new office reno will be insane
Love the metcon shoes Matt!
Black would look way better!
Black definitely
Another vote for black receptacles at the coffee bar and also on the lili tile
Black outlets - definitely.
That’s some good cutting on the droor organizers! Definitely not as easy as it looks. Good job starting to look dialed!
Mike is having a field day watching Matt arrange the silverware.. lol
Black cover plates in the kitchen for sure!
having two dishwashers is the move. if you gets filled up you turn it on and usually you always have a clean one so if you dont do dishes regularly you can just get your stuff out of the clean dishwasher
I've been told it's bad Feng Shui to leave knives on the bench in a knife block so putting them away in the drawer is the way to go.
Could also use a router to widen one of the slots in the knife block to allow the shears to sit in the block rather than at the back.
The cutlery drawer is doing my head in. I've always done the knives on the right, forks in the middle and spoons on the left. Could use a 2nd knife insert and put the knives individually in the drawer. Would take up one of the open spots.
🔥🔥Notification squad 🔥🔥
18:15 That's not meant to sharpen them Matt its to make sure the edge isn't rolled or burred. Sharpening should be done with stones.
18:25 A steel doesn't sharpen knives, it removes the bur that gets created through use. Generally, you would use them once a week or so to maintain the edge. Whetstones are for sharpening the edge which will remove material from the blade (not the bur alone) and reshape the edge.
It’s good it’s good it’s good it’s good
im not sure why, the ladder scene made me feel like i was on a roller coaster
Definitely black outlets. Especially with the black register
I’m with Squanto and the Tribe, Black
Mike is a cook, he should have arranged the drawers. 😂 You did a great job Matt. Don't pitch the knife block, Collete and Adam may decide to use it.
I like Mike suggestions.
The white receptacles aren’t horrible with the white countertop, but it’s gotta be black - all the way.
I still think you need Victor to put some tile in some Fittes vent grilles for all the tile wall area with air vents. The paint flat black grilles look good, but this would really set it apart.
FYI the knife steel isn’t technically a traditional sharpening tool like a wet stone for example. Although the steel does make the knife sharper, its job is to just take out the rough edge of the knife. It’s meant to maintain a sharp edge and not actually sharpen it so to speak. That’s what you use a wet stone for. Also the steel is an essential part for day to day use of the knife. Definitely don’t brush it off. For $1000 plus set of knife’s there is a reason they include a steel with the set. BOOM!!! Obsessed about knife’s
Matt could you link your spreadsheet for all the pots and pans and items you added to the draws? I think basically everything you picked I would want to get.
You are killing it!!
Definitely black outlets on the coffee bar
I'm sure others noted this but the steel isn't for sharpening anyway... or so I am told by my ex butcher father, he says the steel is purely for deburring and nothing else, otherwise it removes too much material.
Mike Mike! Try a STAINLESS (metal) cover, unless they have black chrome, if not black plastic. Buy a few different ones and see what they look like, cheers!
Black outlets and covers for sure and agree with everyone saying the kitchen tiles don't look the greatest
Don’t forget to get some extra fingers with that saw!
Black receptacles 👍
“The 36” insert is 34” wide”. Makes sense.
It’s for a 36” cabinet. Interior dimension of a drawer is smaller.
17:30 Matt- "check out these expensive knives, best of the best, i dont let my wife use them etc etc"
24:45 Matt- uses them to peel stickers off the double sided tape 😅
That was the cheaper Henkles knives I bought for the coach.
Hahaha I’m just stirring! Also as far as everyday cookings and household abusing, I run a set of inexpensive Victorinox, they are bomb proof and cheap to replace if they go bad, used by butchers and chefs alike, awesome for a backup set Matty!
That coffee bar tile is so good. I don't know why people are hating on it. 10/10
I think it just looks bad on camera. Could be a lot better in person kinda thing.
Definitely black!
I thought that when I first saw the receptacle covers that they should be black for sure. Come on Matt 😂😂
Should surprise Collete with some neochrome silverware!! (As a joke)🍴🤩🎉 Neochrome is her favorite, and Matt will hate it. 😂🫡🤫
I would like to congratulate Mike F for saying, "Leave a comment if you would choose black or white for the receptacles."
