Great find :)
Certainly a fascinating book of films
I still have my first edition, one of my favourite books on film. I started a list on letterboxd of films I’ve seen from it, up to 67 so far.
Yes, something I must do, I will start marking the ones I have seen and also the ones I really want to see. Many other films are mentioned as well as the key films, I think it is a superb book. Not sure why I missed seeing when it first came out.
@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews I did a video on Brit Noir of the 70’s that features two of my favourite crime films featured in Offbeat. It’s worth checking UA-cam for some of the more obscure films from the 50’s, surprising what you find.
True, always looking at YT for various films, also, of course, there is talking pictures and they have zillions of films as well, unfortunately not Italian or Spanish or Japanese etc (always enjoy Amazon Prime for that)
I bought this book a few years back - it's a tremendous resource for obscure British films...sadly, a lot of the films in it are impossible to get your hands on...
that I have found out. Many were released on DVD or VHS but now OOP they are very expensive. I don't think it is ever possible to get every film, so many were produced. It is good many of these boutique labels are finding these 'hidden' gems and releasing them, just have to pick them up at the right time.
@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Agree. Most times now you have to buy a title as soon as it's out otherwise you won't get it. I will have to go through the book again to see what I am missing.
Yes, it is a very frustrating. Missed out on the Planet of the Vampires recent release, assumed it was out soonish but already sold out. Was looking forward to that, hoping I can find a copy at the comic mart at the weekend. Can't keep track of all the different labels and making certain it is region B etc as well
