KATHLEEN you are so very right. I definitely thought the same. I had the pleasure of meeting the twins at their concert here in Oneonta NY. . I WILL ADD MORE COMMENTS LATER. THEY ARE PHENOMENAL, PLEASANT, DOWN TO EARTH GENTLEMEN! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEIR CONCERT, AND STAYING FOR THE MEET AND GREET AFTERWARDS. YOU WILL BE SO HAPPY YOU STAYED. I HOPE TO SEE THEM AGAIN, AND ALSO IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO MEET TRACY AND SAM👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍..
Yes, so proud of this youngest boy and I am sure his dad is too...looking down on them all. I love them all. There is a lot of talent in that room they did the song in. And one of the neatest tunes, too!
SAM IS A MIRROR IMAGE OF RICK, AND GUNNER, MATTHEW CAN DEFINITELY SING LIKE THEIR DAD. I WONDER IF TRACEY WAS ALSO BLESSED WITH MUSICAL TALENT. ALWAYS ENJOYED WATCHING HER IN FATHER DOWLING MYSTERIES. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING MATTHEW AND GUNNAR WHEN THEY PERFORMED THEIR TRIBUTE CONCERT TO THEIR DAD. AMAZING GENTLEMEN, DOWN TO EARTH, VERY PERSONABLE, AND VERY HANDSOME (AT LEAST THIS 66 YEAR OLD SENIOR CITIZEN IS VERY PROUD TO SAY IT). THE CONCERT WAS HERE in upstate New York ( ONEONTA). IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF THEY WOULD PERFORM HERE AGAIN, AND BRING TRACEY AND SAM TOO. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
I was getting on an elevator at the San Francisco Fairmont and two plaid shirt, jeans and boots wearing cowboys were ahead of me talking about fence repair. I thought that was really strange! They boarded and turned around. I almost fainted! One of the cowboys was Rick. I sucked up my courage and said I’d been a fan since we were both kids. He stuck out his hand while saying, “Thank you. That means a lot.” His hands were rough and calloused. My only thought, besides trying to not let my knees buckle, was that my idol, Rick Nelson, actually worked his ranch and his hands proved it! I’ll never forget. ♥️♥️♥️
I, too, noticed that Sam looks so much like Rick when he closed his eyes while singing. I loved Ricky/Rick Nelson (I'm almost 76) and am so very glad his sons love him so much and preserve his memory the way they do. These boys allow us to continue to enjoy, appreciate and love their Dad and his music.❤😊
I loved Ricky Nelson more than I liked Elvis. In 1985 shortly before he died, I was so fortunate to see Ricky play in a small bar in Bloomington Indiana called the Blue Bird. It was packed with Indiana University students who had watched reruns of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and were just as excited as I was to see him. His death was a great loss. But his sons definitely inherited his talent and use their own unique style to make their own formidable mark in the music industry.
Magical...definitely can hear their father in their music. They have beautiful harmonies that rarely happen except between family members. I wish them the best.
They really do! I love their voices & the harmony is absolutely beautiful! I love hearing them singing together! I wish they had done more of this! They really all sound great together! ♥️
Omg I couldn't believe how much Sam reminds me of his dad and they all sound fantastic your dad would be proud and so am I I'm a big fan of your dad rest in peace Ricky Nelson you are forever missed😢❤
The twins look so much like their mother, but Sam is more like Rick. It’s nice to know that all three can sing so well. Not only would their dad be proud of their talents, but so would their musically inclined paternal grandparents. This was such a nice tribute
the twins said this came up as a song on the fly the people who were taping the program asked if they would all sing together I gather they are not close to Sam
Wow!!......................Just wow!! These young men have given their father the highest tribute they possibly could! The talent in that family definitely came through with these guys.
What kind of degree/studies? It is so wonderful Gunnar and Matthew have taken their younger brother and older sister under their wings, as it should be. Remember the song " We Are Family"--- it is definitely appropriate in this video. Their mom and dad, uncle David, and grandparents would be so proud 👍❤🙂🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
It's emotional to see them singing one of their father's songs. Especially a song that was so emotional for Ricky himself. Good job boys, dad's proud of ya.
Please Matthew and Gunnar, return to ONEONTA, NY, and bring Tracy and Sam. It was so wonderful to meet and talk with you after the concert. So hoping you return to Oneonta for another concert soon. I am already a senior citizen. How time flies👍
This family rocks. You know they've made the Guiness Book being the only family in American music history to have 3 generations of singers with #1 hits...starting with the grandparents (Ozzie and Harriett), then their dad, and then the twins. I hear they are incredibly humble guys and very generous with their time to up and coming acts...wishing for a 2nd wind for them. They should be bigger than they are.
I always loved Ricky Nelson. Watched him on the family TV show.. He was about 14 or 15 years older than me. It was so sad when he died, but I think part of the sadness is that the kids found our he died by hearing it on the tv and radio. I guess the media has never had any class or compassion.
Rick Nelson was one of my dad's favorite artists. This was his favorite song. This is the last video I showed him. He always told me the story behind Garden Party and respected Rick Nelson for standing his ground. He was so impressed with your gifts. This video he really enjoyed. He met the Lord just this past October. Thank you for giving him some joy
It's October 23, 2023 and I just saw this video of the twins Sam do Garden Party. Sam really does have the lower register vocal tone and sounds very close to his dad in many respects .The twins have worked hard to get the instruments and the music down right and they sing great harmonies. What an awesome gathering of three family talents to honor one of the top 5 musical stars in the United States from 1958 into the early 60s. Plus garden party was the icing on the cake in 1972. An awesome family of multi-generational talent. I used to watch the Nelson TV show in black-and-white from 1958 through roughly 1962 and it was definitely the golden age of popular music. Mark H.
I saw Ricky Nelson sing this song in Billings Montana in the summer of 1979. It's awesome seeing his 3 handsome and talented sons sing this great song.
These boys are so sweet. I saw them at n concert and they signed autographs and visited with the concert goers for hours. Rick Nelson was the one back in my day, all of us girls were in love with him. RIP dear Rick. ❤
The twins (Mathew and Gunnar) were extremely successful in the 80's... people tend to forget that. After the rain, Love & Affection, More than Ever, Only Time will Tell.. some of their stuff. Look it up, its pretty good for the era.
Wow thanks for sharing!! Sam looks just like his Dad and closes his eyes when he sings just like Rick did. The twins look like their beautiful Mom. You do feel a great connection when listening to his sons....I know he would be proud!!
Ricky would be soooo proud. What a beautiful sound they make!!! And all of them so handsome and classy!! I can just imagine the pride of their Grandparents.
Well done gentlemen! Being in my mid sixties this was my music when your dear father was here singing it. You have done him proud!God's blessings on one and all!
I watched Ricky, and his brother Dave with.their.parents Ozzie' & Harriet on television. I loved that show, especially when Ricky sang at the end of the show What a gift,it was for me.to hear Ricky sing. Made my day, my generation, great music
I love the Nelsons and we never miss an episode and how handsome and beautiful these children are I'm so proud of them and their dad would be too that's so nice to see
Sam sounds so much like Ricky also, much more so than the other two. Ricky was alsways my favorite singer from the 50's. Love the Ozzie & Harriet show.
As long as Sam is alive, Ricky will still be here. It's scary how much he looks like his father, when he closes his eyes singing this song. If you've every seen Ricky sing a log of his songs, he closes his eyes like Sam. The other 2 brothers are great, but Sam is the one that looks like Ricky, the dark hair and all.
They're all really good..great. I noticed the eyes too when he closed them. I wish he'd attack the vocal a bit more though...got a bit too much of that soft generic vocal thing going. But it's still pretty incredible.
Wow they are so good. When we got to Turkey in 1962, my mom bought a record player & the first album she bought was traveling man. Then years later we were driving home from California in December 31, and on the radio came the fateful announcement that Ricky Nelson’s plane had crashed. It was so sad. This song with his sons is amazing, they are great. Thank you so much. 😍😍
What a wonderful surprise to see all 3 Nelson Brothers singing together! I wondered if Gunnar and Matthew's brother Sam had the same gift for music as his dad and older brothers. He was great. He had the same mannerisms, as someone else mentioned before. Rick and Kris would have been very proud of all three. Loved them🥰
Love these guys! Loved their father. Wish he was still here. He’d be so proud. Hope Sam goes out on tour with them. I’ve seen regurgitate show twice and they do their father proud.
Had the pleasure of meeting the twins and their sister at Mountain Meadows camp where I worked as a young man! Matt and Gunner played After the Rain in my buddy's cabin and I almost broke into tears hearing them sing! A couple months later I saw their new album of the same name and bought it, played that cassette until it wore out! God bless the wonderful folks the Nelson family truly are!
*+Jack A* _"[...] He looks so much like his father it's scary."_ Well, he does be Rick's son, doesn't he? Me, I also look like my father. Every morning I look into my dad's eyes in the mirror...
Thank you, thank you, Thank you. I literally was listening to Ricky when I was in diapers. He was one of the most handsome men I have ever seen. I loved all his songs & Lord, was he smooth. Fast forward not enough years to the winter night when I totally lost a piece of my heart. Heard the news fittingly enough listening to Dick Clark. New Year's Rocking eve was no longer rockin. You guys just gave me chills it was so beautiful. Same Nelson smoothness. That has always been my fav song by your dad. Turning 65 next week so I'm on a timer. I know when I get over to the other side I am headed right over to a garden party with John Lennon, George Harrison & Ricky Nelson. What a rock n roll heaven that will be.
I always thought Rick Nelson was more underrated then the amount of Fame he had (which was much). The boys all obviously have alot of talent too. Great to hear this as Rick Nelson was one of my favorite musicians. And their sister Tracey is a phenomenal actress. I remember their Mother Chris as an actress and enjoyed her too.
Don't know if anyone else noticed...these boys have their Dad's posture when singing...eyes/facial movements..so uncanny...very nice tribute to a truly great Rock n Roller....and of course the tonal quality of Rick. ^/^
Love these boys. They all look like Ricky Nelson especially the youngest one. So much melody and great voices like their dad. Hope they make it big soon just like their dad.
Keep singing you brothers are great your dad would be proud. I watched your grand parents show and watched your dad grow up. Keep on with the Nelson Legacy. Yes I’m 70.
Excellent video! The entire "Ricky Nelson Sings" DVD (that this performance was taken from) is great as well! They just don't make music like this anymore.
June 9, 2022. I grew up with the Nelson's on Ozzie and Harriet with David and Ricky. I'll be 76 on Sept. 11th. These 3 brothers harmonize beautifully. Perhaps if they had been a group over the years they would have done amazing things musically.... Spectacular voices. Thank-you for posting this video.
There is that one song you hear, and that light goes on in the back of your mind, and you go, Ya I get it." You can't please everyone, so ya gotta please yourself " Thanks Rick
A great song Gunnar n Matthew n Sam sounds great singing there father song Ricky Nelson's. Sam does sound like Ricky Nelson Gunnar n Matthew sound great good guitar players. Ricky Nelson would be proud n amazed of his son's shame the sister didn't sing with them. l love you Ricky Nelson 😎🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🌹🌹❤️❤️🏋️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🎸🎸🌹
Rick was one of my all time favorite performers. I've seen and heard the twins before but never Sam. Thank you so much, this was great. I still tear up when I think of his death, so tragic. He had a beautiful face and soul, family is also beautiful.
I still have a difficult time remembering who is who when it comes to the twins, even though they are not identical. That's what happens when you reach senior citizen status. . Enjoy life everyone. Time passes so quickly, and no one is guaranteed there will be a tomorrow.
All I can say on this Christmas morning is awesome. Beautiful remake of father's song. I grew up watching Ricky grow up. It is beautiful to watch his son's sing.
I was not born yet when Ozzie and Harriet were on tv, nor was I born when Ricky was a teen idol, but music like this in timeless. I am sure that their family that are still living as well as those in heaven are extremely proud of them!
Thanks boys for performing for us. Sam really fits in and he has a great voice like his brothers. I am 79 yrs old now & in the late 50’s used to walk home from HS singing your dads songs, he was always my favorite. In 1960 Rick & David came to Okla. City’s Spring Lake Amusement Park with their trapeze act. Wally was their front man and appeared on local TV to advertise their act. I remember Wally saying that one time he sat down to dinner and a guy came on TV selling hemoroid cream, he was always good for a laugh. The act was great, your family has always been talented in so many ways. I hope you guys will continue to sing together so that l will be able to see you again sometime. Please give your lovely sister and all your families my respects. God Bless
guys! please don't ever stop doing your dad's songs! they're timeless and you are keeping his memory alive! I've been following his music forever (and I'm 24 years younger than he was!). wish I could have gone to your show when you were in Zelienople PA!
Everytime I listen to the CD and they sing "Just Once More" the tears flow (there must be an elf in my kitchen cutting a humongous bowl of onions). The song is an absolute beautiful tribute to their dad (and any others they may have lost). When you listen to it, listen very carefully to the words. Play it several times. I will bet that you will find a very busy elf cutting onions in your kitchen.
A lovely tribute from his three sons. Ricky was such a gorgeous, talented young man, with a great family behind him and with him. What a shame he couldn't live on to see these young men perform this amazing ballad.
Their dad would be so very proud. I never realized how much in mannerisms and voice Sam sounds like his dad. All three brothers are very good!
Nővérük a negyedik tetvér!🌹

ALL THREE ARE PHENOMENAL. IF YOU EVER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND A CONCERT, DEFINITELY ATTEND🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍👍👍👍
I think he looks very much like his uncle Marc Harmon
I'm just seeing this and the way Sam moves is just like Rick. ❤️ I know he would be proud of his boys.
Sam can really sing and reminds me of his dad a lot!
chrisiden
agreed
Yes, so proud of this youngest boy and I am sure his dad is too...looking down on them all. I love them all. There is a lot of talent in that room they did the song in. And one of the neatest tunes, too!
Sam : Why don’t you launch your career? Start imitating your dad then get your own style.
SAM IS A MIRROR IMAGE OF RICK, AND GUNNER, MATTHEW CAN DEFINITELY SING LIKE THEIR DAD. I WONDER IF TRACEY WAS ALSO BLESSED WITH MUSICAL TALENT. Personable, Gunner, and forgive any other errors in m replies. Arthritis in both hands is terrible😂🤨

That doesn't surprise me at and and thank you for telling us about it!
Such talent! I'm sure Dad is looking down on his kids so proud!

Thank you. A true tragedy for the family.😪 Loss of a great talent for the rest of us. Bless you and your families. 🙏
Love it Sam really sounds like is Dad. How could any one not like this?
Only just saw this for the first time and it made me smile so much. Loved it. ❤
All the boys did a good job....They are all handsome just like their Dad...Ricky Nelson was one of the kings of rock & roll.
Magical...definitely can hear their father in their music. They have beautiful harmonies that rarely happen except between family members. I wish them the best.

They sound so much like their dad. I like their harmonizing. Very talented like Ricky, David, Ozzie, and Harriet.
Was going to comment the same!! The younger brother also sounds like his dad.
oh wow...I've got goosebumps...I knew Gunnar and Matthew had talent, Tracy too, but this is the first time I've seen Sam sing or act.
Sam is Rick made over😊
Absolutely GORGEOUS cover of their dad's hit!
Wow!!......................Just wow!! These young men have given their father the highest tribute they possibly could! The talent in that family definitely came through with these guys.
Sam is the only one of Rick and Kris's children to earn a college degree. Kris, by the way died only a couple months ago.

They sound so great together. Adding Sam's voice really added something. They are all beautiful and talented men. Carrying on the Nelson legacy.

Another sad story about Ricky Nelson another great talent lost does it ever end 'brilliant sons bringing the old songs back
Rickey was my idol when I was a teenager in he 1950’s.
Same looks and sounds like Ricky would be proud of all three boys.
God bless all three boys!❤️
Alle drei so talentiert, wow...👍👍👍
Der Papa wäre so stolz auf seine Söhne.❤❤❤❤
This is amazing. This family has such talent. They have done their dad proud.
Harmonize beautifully!! I love their dad's music.
The brothers sang this one well. And Sam does look a lot like their dad. Those boys are proud, and they ought to be, no one like Ricky Nelson,
I always loved Ricky Nelson. Watched him on the family TV show.. He was about 14 or 15 years older than me. It was so sad when he died, but I think part of the sadness is that the kids found our he died by hearing it on the tv and radio. I guess the media has never had any class or compassion.
What a tribute. We miss all the Nelson’s. Sam looks like Rick. Such talent.
I was 7 years old when Rick’s plane crashed. I just remember crying and crying. It broke my heart.
Lovely to hear the Nelson brothers singing their dad's song; Garden Party. Superb! Thanks guys, your dad would have been very proud.
I wish the three would sing together again! The harmony is like what heaven would sound like
Rick Nelson was one handsome man.
Rick Nelson was one of my dad's favorite artists. This was his favorite song. This is the last video I showed him. He always told me the story behind Garden Party and respected Rick Nelson for standing his ground. He was so impressed with your gifts. This video he really enjoyed. Silky smooth and 50 years ago. Great kids doing their dad proud. Those harmonies are gold.
Sam favours his dad so much. Rick would enjoy seeing his boys doing so well. It is so special that they give their dad this tribute.
WOW! Matthew and Gunnar look like their pretty mom and Sam looks so like his handsome father, good looking AND Talented, all, Love This!!
Oooh boy! Genetics is a powerful thing...voices, mannerisms and even facial expressions. Loved it!
Wow! Love Sam's voice it's awesome.
I saw Ricky Nelson sing this song in Billings Montana in the summer of 1979. It's awesome seeing his 3 handsome and talented sons sing this great song.
Wow. Sam looks and sounds just like his Dad! ❤️

They had a bit more hair back then. Like so many musicians in the 80s. Haha
They had some good songs.
Ricky would be very proud of you all. It's awesome to hear you guys sing his songs. Talk about perfect harmony! Sending love and respect! 💖💖💖
Wow thanks for sharing!! Sam looks just like his Dad and closes his eyes when he sings just like Rick did. The twins look like their beautiful Mom. You do feel a great connection when listening to his sons....I know he would be proud!!
I totally agree
I grew up listening and enjoying these boys Dad and watching the Ozzie and Harriet Show. ❤
Ricky would be soooo proud. What a beautiful sound they make!!! And all of them so handsome and classy!! I can just imagine the pride of their Grandparents.
Ricky IS so proud!
What beautiful children Ricky and Kris have. All of them.

Sam sounds so much like Ricky also, much more so than the other two. Ricky was alsways my favorite singer from the 50's. Love the Ozzie & Harriet show.

You nailed it down....
But Gunnar and Matthew have beautiful smiles and they smile much more than their dad ever did.
Naw...Ricky'd be an old man by now; C'mon!...
Love those pretty acoustic guitars, what a beautiful way to honor your father. Amen 🙏 ✨✨
they are pretty sounding and looking too
Incredible harmony! I wish I could get this as a single!
me too
I'm in my 50's now and have enjoyed watching and listening to the entire family. Great to them all doing well.
Great song Sam does sound and look like his dad especially when he closes his eyes.

How the heck can that much handsome be in one family?
Suzywriter is
I know. Their parents were beautiful!
Look at the parents and Harriet
This was beautiful, I know Rick is smiling! Wonderful!
he gave his sons a GREAT GIFT... his music & his voice!!!
Performed so wonderfully well, sons! Nelson. Respect to the family dynasty of 🎶 🎵! TY!
Really liked Ricky Nelson, when Sam sings, he closes his eyes, just like his father did. He looks so much like his father it's scary.
So totally agree ... Sam reminds me of Rick the most. Wish he would play more publicly.
*+Jack A* _"[...] He looks so much like his father it's scary."_
Well, he does be Rick's son, doesn't he? Me, I also look like my father. Every morning I look into my dad's eyes in the mirror...
What a great tribute to a great American. He was the All-American Boy. He was so good looking Elvis didn't want to be around him!
oh my gosh , you guys sound great together , I hear your dad when you sing- this is wonderful !

1Phoebus yes they sure do! Rick Nelson was my first love! LOL
I've have noticed out of the three of them, Sam is the one that looks the most similar to his father. Or, is that just me?
I thought the exact same thing...wow
Couldn't agree more. Great job! Great tribute to their dad.
They just don't make music like this anymore.
a very touching tribute to their dad. i bet he would have loved to see his sons singing his work.. what a great way to pay tribute to their dad
Fantastic. Lovely rendition guys! Thanks
WOW. Just plain WOW. A beautiful tribute to their Dad.
All I can say on this Christmas morning is awesome. Beautiful remake of father's song. I grew up watching Ricky grow up. It is beautiful to watch his son's sing.
I love this version and the original. I must say Sam...........excellent job.
Wonderful to see them together again.
The pictures of Ricky almost make me cry
That was the best thing I've heard in a long time. Amazing similarities between Rick and Sam.
Sam has that quiet hotness that his father had ... I love him ... would love to hear more from him!
God Bless
Thank you for that boys. I was born in 1960 and grew up loving your dad's music.
guys! please don't ever stop doing your dad's songs! they're timeless and you are keeping his memory alive!
