In the previous Outlast 2 video we looked at Blake's psychological state and how that impacts the story, but this part will focus on the events that actually happen in the game (no hallucinations).

Outlast 2 is ageing like a fine wine. So glad people are appreciating this masterpiece for what it is.

Its just a shame people didn't like it as much as the first game bc of the cryptic and confusing story, but once you connect the dots and really pay attention to it, you will appreciate the story even more.
@james: The game was pointless because the story, especially in comparison to the original, was terrible. In fact, after the sequel was released many players didn't like the sequel. At all. They found that the story didn't match up with the story of the original game (And they were right!), causing the sequel to have very poor sales. To try and correct this pathetically terrible decision to design the sequel this way, they created a web-comic to connect the story of the first Outlast to the story of the sequel. Evidently, it was available to read on the developers website.
Perhaps it's ironic; but, the story for the original Outlast was actually pretty thin. The original Outlast was just a good horror game. Maybe there were some aspects to the story - the way that the mad scientist & their crazy experiments became amalgamated with the paranormal that we're kinda lame if you were to pay attention to the details at length - but, I can't imagine why anyone would bother! This isn't Shakespeare or Tolkien, this is horror.
With the sequel they tried to _`pour`_ so much story into it that they made virtually no effort whatsoever to connect the story of the first Outlast with the story of the sequel...until after sequel was released, as I previously mentioned with the web-comic. So, the sequel was poorly written, designed & edited. It's a game that probably would have been a better game if they had never wasted their money making the damned thing.

Firstly, people understood the story because they read the fcking notes you failed-gene hybrid,even if you don't read the note. You can piece the puzzle together. The first comic was made in 2016, a year before the release so no, they didn't make the comics because the game failed.
There's no point in making the 1st game connect to the 2nd game, the devs literally said that when they released the demo. That's like saying cod mw should be connected to cod infinite warfare, it's dumb.
No wonder why you didn't understand the story, you literally said it your self "why anyone would bother"
If you don't like the story, just play the god damn game and shit your pants or just don't play at all.

I found the Outlast sequel to be a terrible game, especially with the story, in particularly in comparison to the original. In fact, after the sequel was released many players didn't like the sequel. They basically set it up so that a reporter goes to a long-closed down insane asylum to do a story on it, about it's long history & all of the urban legends saturating that history. So, they go in and they find crazy shenanigans all over the place... Blurring the lines between crazy experiments by a mad scientist and paranormal experiences to be found everywhere. It’s literally NOT that bad. Let down and little to no sense yes. Just view it as a stand alone and it’s fine.
