"remember kids if someone told you "the government won't do this" oh yes they would"
Exactly
wendigoon moment
if you think the government wouldn't do something, truth is they probably already have
Depends on the times and climate. But yeah, don't put your trust in authority.
@@MrUmbra-ts6se no all times and all climate never trust the authority especially when they show history of questionable actions
It's interesting that you mention MKULTRA because the next Outlast game, The Outlast Trials takes place during the Cold War with Murkoff recruiting people off the streets (your character being one of them) to participate in a huge experiment with the promise of "remaking your life" and the first thing you do after the opening cutscene and character customization is go through a preconditioning process that involves "abandoning the old you" and "unburdening yourself of the past" by destroying all of your public and private records with TV messages and a voice over the intercom encouraging you to forget yourself and become a new you. Even the character customization screen opens with the intercom voice saying "Tell me who you *think* you are".
"I'm the one who knocks"
Trials is a knock off. It lacks the content first one have done and focuses on co-op gameplay and gore.
@@MrUmbra-ts6se Bruh, it's not a knock off. It's being made by Red Barrels, the same folks who made the other Outlast games. Also, the full game isn't even out yet. All we've gotten so far is the closed beta.
@@mask938 I don't think you get it. The first game had humor, it also had sci-fi horror side and on top of that it talked about conspiracy and abuse. Despite the humor, there was a serious side to the game.
Trials does not treat MK Ultra stuff seriously, it just uses them for the shock value. The brain washing they showcased in gameplay has nothing to do with real brain washing methods used historically.
@@MrUmbra-ts6se If it were realistic it would be boring to be honest.
Outlast is the scariest game I've ever played. It's even scarier now that I know it was based off of real experiments...
It would be even more scary if the games happen in real life.
Fun fact: the area of the brain referred to as "Wernicke's area" is connected to speech production.
Wait realy?
@@stanIceSpice6328 yeah, it's on the left hemisphere, it also cooperates with an area anterior to it called Broca's area for us to produce speech
@@rise7105 interesting
It's actually connected mostly to the understanding function, although it is related to language
So if somoene stutters it have someting to do whit that part of the brain??
ah, yes, the literal definition of man made horrors beyond comprehension
When games teach you history better than your history class
Hearts of Iron IV, Battlefield 1
@@tagus100 dont forget assassains creed
A lot of history books sanitize and completely leave out components of history that other countries are taught for the sake of preserving nationalism and driving the impressionable minds of students to believe that their country is the greatest. Its sad, and as far as I know, it happens in the US. I'm sure it also happens elsewhere, I'm just speaking from my own experience.
Lol samsies
Why would you want to learn abou this in school??
The same time I find it weird that people don't know about the MKUltra, I find it positive that people are discovering it, just so it doesn't go forgotten.
the worst about it is when you tell anything to idiots they instantly "YOU ARE TRYING TO PSYOP ME I DO NOT TALK TO YOU IMA TOO SUPERPOOPERGIGAULTRAMEGACHAD AND GOT YOUR PLANS"
Srsly, everyone who learned and believed about MKULTRA must be instantly dispatched for organs to compensate the harm made through all their remaining life. Or go to asylum (did you know? Doctors may turn you into an empty shell in one small injection. Hmmm, why do they keep doing such complex procedures?)
Even if MKultra worked, that won't result in so much evil (even if it was used to make you happily die in factories, you at least would be happy. Don't say you value having a brain more, 99,9% that you tried in childhood once and then never use it.)
As the greatgrandson of a victim I could not agree more. I just hope people maintain academic rigour in investigating the subject since there is so much disinformation, misinformation, delusional speculations and scammy lies getting in the way of an accurate portrayal of the events that took place.
11:26 “you can find a large empty room, in the corner, you can see some loser facing the corner like the Blair witch.” That had me cackling.
Great video! The horrors the CIA commits truly have no limits.
If you ever get bored look up what the CIA asked German scientists after Operation Paperclip you'll see that they wanted a population at least a nine-year-old to a ten-year-old education
Throughout history, people have committed horrible things based on their time and situation, and probably, if not all these efforts would have been made we would've been driving ladas and living in a communist sh!thole like north Korea or Cuba
@@jzabala10 ah yes, torturing innocent mentally ill people is somehow ok because "communism bad". You are exactly the type of people that allowed these crimes to happen with this stupid logic. Shame on you!
@@jzabala10 fed
@@jzabala10 this guy glows hard
Damn dude, I admit, after you run out of saw movies to talk about, I was kind of worried there wouldn't be direction for you to go, but it seems as you still have great ideas for new videos that are in line with your channel's focus
Didn't even know he did that.
I live in Montreal and my greatgrandmother was a victim of Cameron, it destroyed the last years of her life reducing her to a childlike state. My dad is retired now but worked at the McGill Neurological Institute and while he arrived in Montreal just after MK ULTRA he met and knew many people who were directly involved. One of his best friends was asked to be administer some of the experiments at the Alan Memorial but said no. My dad is weirdly casual about it all and says things like "people just didn't understand what they were doing" and "medical ethics are a relatively new thing so we can't judge those in the past for what they did as we would now" but I've pointed out to him that his friend said no because it was clearly wrong. I think my dad is so weird about it because he's super close to Dr. Brenda Milner, a world renowned neuropsychologist who pioneered a lot of neuroscience around memory, who is somehow still alive and still quite sharp minded at 104. Her involvement in Cameron's Subproject 68 isn't fully known but she was involved without a doubt. She used to spend Christmas at my place every year and damn would she say some weird stuff now and then like "I don't like children, they're not fully developed yet so speaking to them usually isn't worth the time" (which she said to me, a child). Honestly though she's always been pretty nice and genuinely interesting to be around but I can't quite get over the fact she was involved in the horrors that effected not only my greatgrandmother but many others.
Bro
@MasonHurst-sc8it yeh.... thats pretty much the only appropriate response. reality is a mindfuck
damn man. w t f. I f you are serious this is some crazy shit
I mean just lookd at all the madness just "casually" happened in 2020 worldwide and still does worldwide. Critics are demonised, chased out of their country or imprisoned just for stating the truth or doctors who protected their patients being punished for not blindly obey unmedical and unethical acts. People weren't treated if they didn't obey the obsession. So many lost heir jobs, people were killed in hospitals by the "early treatment" not to mention how isolation, stress and bullying of the children, disabled and elderly people.
It just needs one lame excuse. One excuse that everyone if they dared to think didn't make sense, for a global dystopian society.
Let's if they can do that again now with the next seasonal "oh so deadly" flu.
Medical ethics predate MKUltra. They were officially made in 1948 after the Nuremberg Trials and have existed, in one form or another, since the time of the ancient Greeks. The modern Hippocratic Oath is based on the Greek ethical code of medicine usually attributed to Hippocrates, hence the name. Despite this the USA protected and continued the work of many Nazis.
Bit of complimentary information : Red Barrels, the studio behind the Outlast franchise, is based in Montreal. Surely that has to do with the inspiration of the story and the context of the first game!
The most scariest thing anyone can say to you is: "I'm from the government and we're here to help."
“You can see some loser facing the wall,” damn, what did he do to you?
Outlast, at least the first game, is amazing man. Nostalgic to me❤️
is the second game good?
@@baconmatters8847 yes, but 1st one is better
@@baconmatters8847 second game focuses on some religious occult with some PTSD? episodes in the school. It's worth playing at least one time.
@@baconmatters8847 It's good but a bit random
@@baconmatters8847 I don't think it's good. I think the first one is far better.
MKULTRA while not often a recognized name is actually the inspiration for many shows or books, like stranger things was inspired by MKULTRA, which in stranger things is the experiments that take place before project indigo, which is the one 011 is enrolled in
“The government wouldn’t do that!”
Yes, yes they would.
I still wish I could fight back in this game lol

Never felt that bad about living next to Montreal. Even more so because we have nasty stories dating from back then. For example, Quebec was VERY catholic until the end of the 20th century. So, when a woman had a child outside of marriage, she was usually ejected from her family and sent to a church to become a sister and repent. As for the kid… they never saw their child again (no abortion, of course). Today, these children are more commonly known as Duplessis’ orphans (Duplessis was Quebec prime minister at the time) and they were usually officially deemed mentally ill for more funding. Now, thanks to your video, I think there might be more to this story.
Hey there. Greatgrandson of a Cameron victim here. Nice to see someone mention the Duplessis Orphans as that is little spoken of compared to MK Subproject 68 (Cameron's work). Such things like the Duplessis Orphans occurred quite a lot in Ireland as well. There's sad truths buried in our history all over... we just need to be wary while researching it to separate fact from fiction since so many people have muddied the water by injecting delusions, misinformation, disinformation and scammy lies into the subject and related subjects.
we need more of this content, I've subscribed to see more of this "happened irl" type lore from horror video games etc. don't let us bro
Great video and great depth of information you provided
this is a great video an awesome insight into the outlast lore and our own history (CIA)
i hope you also make one for outlast 2 in the future
And now all the developers of the Outlast series are missing and presumed dead...
To everybody who is “surprised that Operation Paperclip took in German scientists and engineers even though they were (gasp!) members of the Nazi party (gasp!)”, I would like to remind you that reality is much more complex than the heavily politicized, hindsight-rich version that is passed down through pop culture and the school system in the 21st century.
If you had been a young engineering graduate or a chemist, your family would have made incredible sacrifices in order to pay your tuition fees, no matter if they did it during WW1, the hyperinflation years of the early 1920s or the Great Depression (Germany was hit far, FAR worse than America), and you wouldn’t have known any of the awful things regarding the Nazi party that we take as grated today.
Regardless of what you would have thought about them, one sure thing is that they would have been your ticket to everything from a safe job, to a promotion, a financial grant for your own small chemical firm, a promotion or just pure and simple status… and even if somehow you weren’t in the mood for any of it, it would have been “unadvisable” (to put it mildly) to refuse the offer to become a party member advanced by a local NSDAP section leader… everybody had a party badge after all, didn’t they?
These points alone should suggest that having a NSDAP party membership or being employed by the arms industry during a literal world war (like most scientists and engineers), shouldn’t be an automatic ticket to be tried at The Hague.
Germany was still the world leader in a lot of scientific fields, it was full of very skilled scientists, and on top of it, the absolute worst “crime” committed by many of those 1600 scientists brought to America through Operation Paperclip, was having used forced labor in their field of work, often with deadly results… which of course isn’t a good resume point in 2023, yet it’s something they couldn’t have had any control over, considering how much the Gestapo and the Allies were breathing down their necks (albeit for different reasons).
Also, if the US didn’t have good ol’ Wernie to shoot them rockets, how longer would have humanity taken to piss off the Flat Earthers?!?
Outlast will forever be one of my favourite games. Friends I've tried to tell about it refused to play because it's a horror but the storytelling is just fascinating the closer you look.
This is awful to think this kind of thing actually happened.
Happened, happens and will happen.
Vert good channel, I'm so interested in your take in reviewing games and films, keep the content going.
at 11:27 he just insults a random inmate for no reason
I love this channel, ive been watching since u was posting saw movies and traps
This was a proper good explanation. 👍
I love these games. It makes me think Outlast Trials is a jump back in time because of the Cold War timeline.
Everytime the documents were discussed, my phone would pause the video.....
They're onto me.
would love to see more of this
I like the part where you crush the fake Doctor guy in the elevator
Squeeze
Come to think of it I don't remember how Outlast ended
So you are telling me that the Ghost we see a few times was never a Ghost in the first place but based on some CIA stuff (that was actually based on real things)??
This game should be called "Outlast: Mind-Blown" as WOW
Yo that background is cool as hell
i literally love the outlast games and the dlc alone is in my top 5 favorite games of all time
Outlast have made me a better person
Do you remember 2 years ago September 2, 2020 paranormal Activity Explained part 2 you had 8000 subs but now you have over 300k subs mad respect for you
If you kept up with the lore mixed with the story of the events during the game. The story is actually really great
Its actually got alot in common with the second season of american horror story
I always saw the game as Geraldo's report on Willowbrook State School meets MKUltra.
The video was very interesting! I loved Outlast 1, but this video highlights Outlast's greatest shortcoming as a series. Loose documents are not a substitute for actual storytelling.
we need more game's like this
5:54 I don't know if anyone noticed but here the reference no of the document is 190691 but it is narrated as 190619
Operation Paperclips. Some of the Engineers I heard also created the roller coasters in Disneyland
I love the well place BO1 art
Will you do a video on escape room 2?
“Most Terrifying Words - ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”
Now i need to play and finished outlast. i was too frustrated with the difficulty i kept dying during stealth part, maybe i should turn down the difficulty
I can't wait for the new game
I played this game so many times I can speed run it in under an hour
So scary
3:48 I saw that glimpse of Black Ops 1 lol
Also don’t forget it also happened in Black Ops Cold War’s campaign as well (but it’s not as important)
my favorite horror game
1:00 Dayam Sherman from Mr. Peabody & Sherman turned out hella hot. I definitely was not expecting that!
3:48 lol
Wow, i had honestly no clue anything like this was apart of outlast. I've loved that game for years honestly but it was based on true events wow. CIA really did some messed up shit in the past huh
why was there a picture of cod black ops in 3:47
Mason in Black Ops is implied to have been brainwashed by the russians to assassinate JFK
Good catch
Sleep agent aka most of the plot of cod black ops
I'm guessing it has something to do with him being on PC and the game filling a texture with an image on his computer
bo1 story has a ton of themes of mkultra throughout the story
speaking about mkulta The second outlast game feels oddly similar to the finders cult a supposed cult that did a lot of bad things that was apparently a cia opeation gone rouge.
I've only just started playing the game
yeah.. there is no way to play this game even if someone will give me money.
Awesome video. 👍
Hey can you do a review on escape room 2
Well, I at least learned one new thing, the documents in outlast are based on the real ones.
If I'm not mistaken, movies and shows also goes on the human experience.
Huh. The verbal methods used in MK ultra bear an uncomfortable resemblance to prompts used to jailbreak chatGPT.
5:34 I don’t need a tape for that.
3:48 black ops 1 Reference
German here, never heared of a wall rider or something close to that probably an omage to the bogey man.
Why is there a Blops 1 cover at 3:49?😂
I would've done the same in Alan Dulles place
Thats funny because in America Blue Bird is a bus manufacturing company
i saw the black ops two thingy at 3:49
3:48💀 I see what you did and i agree it’s similar to that
I get the feeling this game is about MKultra
i think dead by daylight doctor lore also talked about MKULTRA
regarding op. paperclip, if we hadn't scooped the german scientists, the soviets would have and we most certainly would have lost the space race and thus the cold war. so say what you want about the ethics of hiring nazis, but if we hadn't our enemies would have.
"enemies" because americans are "the good guys" who can't do anything wrong.
i really like your videos HitStart. plz keep making vids
Saturn Five (V as roman 5)
Call of duty black ops proceeds to appear form nowhere
new hit stat video🖤🖤
3:50 best cod game ¨
Black Ops 1 a goated game frfr LSD goated as well
bell is that u
Thats what i need
But they are so dissimilar I have a hunch the developer needed something to give it spook factor they took the The Blair Witch Project technique of it being "real" so they slapped on real documents which is limited by what will be declassified.
You could say that it is similar because it involves people who are neurodivergent, it is psychological, the government does it, it is motivated by the defense interests. That is, I would say way too vague to say it counts towards similarity. Influenza and Ebola are both infectious diseases wow they are completely identical it could be inferred. Think about going through the mansion in Resident Evil and you discover the lab and you find documents concerning the Manhattan project or Unit 731 and you conclude that Resident Evil is based on real events. You are really reaching.
Did you not watch the video or read the title? It's INSPIRED by MK ultra, not actually a part of it
This reminds me of bo1
3:49 is seen black ops appear for the millisecond
I seen
They made a Minecraft kid into a nearly killer oops that was at the end too wize for the world
you think people being stuck in a room with a tape saying your mother hates you is bad, supposedly there was a form of torture that was experimented with (i do not think it was connected to MKULTRA) where men where strapped to chairs and exposed to the barney theme tune on repeat for hours on end
Outlast is the only game that made me cry in the tutorial
OUTLAST MENTIONED
You can see some loser facing the corner 11:26 💀
Sadly you are English, because in the Netherlands is a village where this happens fr. Its in a mental hospital for youth and i've bern there.
(Sesrch docu JASON Dutch)
3:49 why is cod blackops there
Your mother sprints into the house and tells you that she has killed someone...
Do you help her bury the body and keep your mouth shut?
With this game having real life connections i have to say Its funny how america or the other nations under the allied banner will blame and ridicule germany back then for all the horrid acts by the nsdap, while at the same time doing the same if not wrose things just because they're the "good guys"
Germany was and always will be the scapegoat. There is a reason why America constantly pushes out WW2 stuff.
12:42 it’s always aggravated me after I learned who he REALLY is that in my city we have AN ENTIRE CENTER made in honor of him??! I live in rocket city aka Huntsville Alabama we have the space station here, so I’ve grown up learning about space and have had many opportunities to learn about the history behind it, but I only learned that Von Braun was a Nazi in Junior year of high-school. Yeah he did a lot yeah he got us to space but STILL why do we NOT talk about who he was other than a “genius”. Honestly it’s sad that we don’t get told this until so much later and when we do it’s just a little “fun fact” that you bring up to sound smart.
I mean will you dismiss his work now for knowing he was "a bad guy"? If you have a honest look at human history there are barely any people you could call good guys even though Americans just love to pretend to be exactly that. Most germans at that time only had the option "work, follow orders and survive or get killed". 2020 showed humanity is still more than willing to repeat stuff like that. "Obey or get in trouble" (best case getting called name, worst case...getting Epsteined".
Nazis are just the scapegoats of history. Other people and nations, even to this day, aren't better.
