    All of these depth map solutions I find discussed on UA-cam are online, and I really wish there was a good solution one could run on local hardware. I suppose everyone wants to commercialize the process but since so many local AI tools exist I would have thought at least one versatile depth map solution could be run on one's own system.

    • @dinoscheidt
      @dinoscheidt 28 днів тому

      AI models run on GPUs and have high hardware requirements. For me as an engineer it would be a pain to run these models reliably on my own machine and is not worth the trouble compared to running them on GPU servers in the cloud. That is the reason why not only the effort to create this kind of software costs money, but actually processing your image as well.

    • @StariusPrime
      @StariusPrime 28 днів тому +10

      @ Yeah, I have the hardware and I want to use it however.

    • @StariusPrime

      @ I guess to elaborate on my response, I already have a ComfyUI AI image generation workflow running on a Threadripper Pro system with two RTX3090 GPUs. The ComfyUI workflow is elaborate but it would be perfect if I could get that level of depth map processing tied into it. I just haven’t found a solution to do that.

      Search hugging face. It's the main place for all open source AI models. There's a whole category of models called depth estimation with over a hundred models you can experiment with locally or thru free hosted spaces. I have no trouble running on a 6gig card. You can also look at control net thru comfy UI if you want to stay in that platform. It has some basic depth estimation capabilities, but nowhere near the options on hugging face 🤗

    I don't do this any more because there wasn't much money in it, at least for me, but I found surprisingly Ligthburn does a really good job with just a quality 3d grayscale render. If you look at the documentation it actually says it creates the real depth map on the fly. Have you tried that?
    Also, why would you do a Gaussian blur if you really wanted sharpness to detail. Seems counter intuitive. Always like trying the new software as well!

      Hello my friend, we are not currently in a full subscription model. You can freely choose to purchase a one-month plan or just purchase credits.

    I was interested, but lost it. Both tools are paid subs. So you're tutorial-ing, evaluating and basically promoting as advertising. Good for you, but it's wasting my time.

    take some life art drawing classes because that football helm is broke as hell... that face mask is misshaped prospective is way off... if i was presented with that coin i would throw it in the trash as soon as i got it... stop relying on programs you can draw the height map if you know what you are doing... and they can be made in seconds...
