    Makes you wonder why anyone ever built another truck after the luv was made

    Thanks mate for a bloody good laugh. I'm down in Queensland Aussie & have a 74 Luv in my shed awaiting restoration which was my grandfathers. I've got 3 boys who have started on & absolutely love the retro style. I've subscribed, cheers mate.

      Awesome man thanks so much. It's hard to describe to others why we are drawn to these types of vehicles but for some reason I think shiny stuff is just boring. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort it takes to restore a beautiful hot rod but I want something I'm not afraid to use or scratch. I use this blue LUV as a daily farm truck now lol.

    😂when you started talking about the hp, you had me rolling laughing. I still have my 1980 4X4 Luv, 430k miles on it. I taught my kids how to drive stick shifts with it. It's one of my prized possessions.

      lol, thanks! 430k that’s amazing. Engineer rebuilt somewhere along the way? I learned how to drive in 92 Nissan hardbody. I think that’s why I have a soft spot for small trucks

    I had a 1979 4WD LUV with an 85 mph speedometer. When it was new, I can remember zipping around hilly, curving two-lane highways in northeastern Oklahoma with the speedometer pegged at 85 mph being followed by a Corvette which was struggling to keep up.

    • @fabricobbletech
      @fabricobbletech  Рік тому +2

      That thing must have been wrapping the engine so hard lol. I think if I recall correctly somewhere around 80 is maximum recommended engine rpm

    • @brianeaton9046
      @brianeaton9046 Рік тому

      @@fabricobbletech It was. Because of the speedometer limit at 85 mph, it was tough to determine top speed, but a friend at the time had an identical 1979 LUV and got a speeding ticket for 93 mph.

    Is this the 2023 or up and coming 2024 model? Luv the retro gauges! I would say that watching how well it handles at speed off road you probably be a real contender at the Baja 1000. Already have a roll bar. Add a 5 piint harness and you'd get into the unlimited class. Good luck!!

      The LUV is like the poor man's Datsun. I actually learned how to drive in a 1992 Nissan Hardbody 2WD truck which I thrashed on like any kid would. But I think that truck is why mini trucks have always held a special place in my heart lol

      @@fabricobbletech I love this little truck. But then, I love canopy small truck out there. My favorite is the 521 series Datsun/Nissan trucks, however I would take a truck like this one if the situation presented itself to me. Then again, I love the Ford Courrier trucks very much to. Just wish these car and truck manufactires would only start building small trucks once again, I mean, since gasoline prices are up to 5,6 and 7 dollars a gallon these days, these little 4 cylinder engines can help save you a bundle in gasoline savings alone.

    • @fabricobbletech

      It looks like the body style didn't change until 1981. I'm guessing the front clips may be interchangeable. I can't tell you for sure right now. I have a 1979 parts LUV parker out in the weeds. I'll take a gander at the front but you may just need grill, headlight bezels, and headlight mounting brackets to do the swap.

    Love these little trucks, HOWEVER, I'm a conservative sort of guy. While it maybe fun to take it out there and beat the hey out of it climbing rough terrain and stuff like that, I would be more likely to respect thos little truck, and trucks of other makes and models with care and drive them senseable. They will last you much longer if you take good care of them and matain them properly. Not putting you down, your truck, you can do what you want with it, just saying, I come from a bit of a different mold here.

    • @fabricobbletech
      @fabricobbletech  Рік тому +1

      I pulled this truck out of the weeds where it was left to rot. Didn’t run and was completely clapped out. I’ve completely refurbished it mechanically including swapping in a replacement engine. I can’t rescue them all but there are still plenty out there waiting to be scrapped if you want to rescue a few.
