The best time to drive through B.C. to Alaska from there is in May-June, when the wild roses are blooming, roll the windows down and they are so fragrant, it is incredible! Lots of wildlife too.
Wow, if there's MORE wildlife than we've seen driving in July and September in 2019 and 2021, that would be incredible. The wild roses sound amazing, too! Thanks for the recommendation. 👍 -Howard
Several US Governors were requesting Canada to open its border to Americans. The Canadian Border is opening Aug 9 but The US border has extended its closure to all non essential travel until Aug 26. What????? The US has WAYYYYY more covid than Canada. Maybe we should close our border again.
Hi Katelyn and Howard! So glad you were able to cross the border into Canada on your way to Alaska. That was a quick trip to the Alaskan border. Can't wait to see what adventures lay ahead as you explore Alaska! Have a great weekend!
Yes, folks, the first wildlife you encountered were bighorn sheep ewes. We have this species in relative abundance here in Wyoming. Good luck on your journey.
Amazing video!!!!!! Thanks for all the details of the day..Glad you made it to Alaska....please enjoy and tell us about all there is to see and do.. can't wait to see your next videos 🤠
OMG I’m almost crying too! So excited for you guys! Excited for us too! Thank God for that darn $4 sticker! I’m so excited to watch you guys in Alaska! I can’t believe you made it! Whoo hoo! Bring on the wildlife & the beautiful scenery!
This was our second attempt at crossing during COVID restrictions, and does not represent normal crossing procedures like you would find right now. We do have a thorough guide that includes crossing available on our website. Thanks for watching! 👍 -Howard www.newstatenomads.com/rvalaska
Hi Rick!! So glad you could have a little bit of home through our videos! What part of Canada are you from? It's such a beautiful country! We'll be releasing more Canada videos starting this Sunday ☺️ -Katelyn
As an Alaskan for almost 30 years I admit there are places I have yet to see. I did recently drive from Wasilla to Seward to take delivery of several concrete mixer trucks in may, it was an outstanding journey driving there!
Drop dead gorgeous wonderworld you traveled through. Wow! Those snow capped mountain rages and that scenery. Absolutely stunning. Epic driving Howard. Those 'kids' of your behaved well too on such a long trip. Hopefully the ignition problems have been solved by now on the wagon. Safe travels and can't wait to see where you parked when settling for the night. 🙏 🇳🇱 🙋♀️ 🇳🇿 💖
Our best resource for finding gas in Canada and Alaska were visitor centers. On two occasions the visitor center worker gave us a print out and said "here are gas stations that are open and have gas for the next thousand miles, I called everyone of them this morning". Don't overlook visitor centers... almost every town has one. I am so glad you made it in. We have a Canada cross country trip planned for August... hopefully the border will be open by then.
We have a place in Skagway Alaska and we are flying there tomorrow. We wanted to ride our bikes but we would have to do just what you guys are doing. The best part of traveling on our motorcycles is taking our time and enjoying the journey. We did it 2 years ago and it was so amazing. I can’t wait until Canada opens its borders again so we can ride through again. Enjoy your time in Alaska. I hope you visit Skagway.
We waited in Maine for a month to cross into Canada into new brunswick on our way to Nova Scotia. We are going to be in Canada until the fall. We were waiting for the quarantine requirement to end on july 5th. We live in Florida but I have dual citizenship so canada had to let us in, haha. Love your filming editing style, Larry.
Hi Larry! We absolutely LOVE that area of Canada! Nova Scotia was one of our first destinations in the RV back in 2018. Haha, glad you got in with no problems! You're right, they had to let you in! 😂 Thanks for the compliment on our style, too! -Katelyn
Hubby has dual citizenship but I do not. Will be driving our TT over the boarder in Ontario heading to Deep River. Hope by now we don’t encounter any issues. Thanks for your insights.
Well, this episode clinches it. Watching many of the other RV rock stars over the last year, we've now decided you're our favorite. Love how you've leveraged your pre-RV-days skills with the content, but remained very authentic and enjoyable to watch and root for. Look forward to going back to the beginning to watch them all. Someday if you're near Sedona again, we'll reach out to offer a behind the scenes evening. BTW, would we be the 5000th ones to mention your many resemblances to Robin Williams?
Your comment made our day! 🤗💗 Thank you so much!!! Haha, Howard usually gets a few other comedians that he's compared to. That's a good one though! We can't wait to visit Sedona again one day soon! -Katelyn
So glad you finally made it to Canada and now going to Alaska. Glad you had enough gas to get you where you needed to go. Sorry about your car. Did ever figure it out about what the problem was? Hope it was an easy fix. Glad you have someone in the family who is a mechanic. But sorry you couldn’t get them when you needed them the most. Can’t wait to see your next video. Hoke you both have a great 4th of July weekend. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 flags for sack one of you the dogs and you both. Happy 4th Howard abs Katelyn.
DEFINITELY slowing down, Richard. Hahaha I think a road trip of almost 5,000 miles in a just a few days is our (and probably anybody's) limit! 👍 -Howard
Congratulations on getting across into our beautiful country. It’s really too bad you can’t spend more time especially with crossing at Osoyoos as the Okanogan is such an awesome part of Canada. I’m behind in watching videos but I’m wishing you safe travels and looking forward to your adventures in Alaska. Peace and Calm. 👍🏻😎🇨🇦
I'm leaving from Palm Coast Florida to Alaska on the 12th of July. I'm driving my F350 with a Nucamp Cirrus Camper. I'm going by myself. My dad was a civil engineer on the Alaska Highway in 1942 so I'm tracing his footsteps. I hope that they will be a little easier going now. I liked the info you've provided. Thanks
Those are Elks they always feed at the side of the road every morning, they’re in the U.S. as well, everywhere, have a safe, trip, very cute family with you’re fur babies 🦮🐶🦮 soon as I retire from Female Trucking I’m going back to places I could not go, Have Fun in Alaska.

Any time I'm considering g driving the AlCan Highway from Alaska to Washington, I always check the Canadian border website to learn of any issues or special paperwork necessary to cross. Enjoy your journey. Be sure to insure you have plenty of gas, as in certain areas, gas stations are sparse.
I can’t tell you how excited for you I am! As soon as you crossed-over into Canada, I literally yelled “YESSSSS!!!” They had better fully open-up Canada or their tourist economy will get and stay in the tank. If you’re vaccinated there shouldn’t be any reason why you can’t travel there! As long as you have proof of vaccination, there shouldn’t be any problem! Abe, it's a great question, and given how different the experience was during COVID maybe I can share what it was like during previous crossings in 2018 and 2019? Generally speaking, they are standard questions like: Purpose of visit, where you intend to travel, if you've been to Canada before, any food or special items (weapons laws are very different in Canada) onboard. From many international border crossings, stay friendly, but only answer the question asked. The less you say, the better. If they want more information, they will DEFINITELY ask, haha. Hope that helps! -Howard
I bought 3 concrete mixers, had planned on driving through Canada to Alaska to our business, gave up fighting against the border rules and put the 3 trucks on a barge out of Bellingham instead and picked them up in Seward. Will never go through Canada again.
Hi Daniel! Wow. 😟 I don't blame you at all, that's awful. That's what he had been hearing too... It was all very subjective and dependent on which agent you got at the time. Sorry you had to go through that but glad you made it up here. -Katelyn
They demanded exorbitant transit fees, insurance, a quarantine stay for my drivers, we actually had 4 trucks in the convoy bought in Las Vegas in may, cost us about $12k each to barge them from Bellingham to Seattle, I have nearly finished repainting them here in Wasilla. I honestly hope your trip in Alaska is safe and fun, Denali, Homer, Seward are must visit places.
Thanks! I think it really depends on you purpose and destination for documents. Since we were just in transit to Alaska, the requirements were geared towards that. Passport, negative COVID test, proof of employment in Alaska and a plan for how we will travel, where we plan to stop along the way, etc. -Howard
I just found you on UA-cam and I am enjoying your videos. We were suppose to go to Alaska this summer but knew we couldn’t get across so we’re traveling from West Coast to East Coast of the lower 48. I’m trying to figure out how you were able to get across and have watched several videos. You said something about a tourism job? Please explain.
I sure hope when I get there there not making me get through that fast my wife is not going to help drive. She has a problems with he knees right now. She is on medication for a clot in one leg so she's letting me do it alone.
Hi, we provided proof of employment in Alaska to the Canadian border agents when we crossed. More information can be found here on their website: travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/border#transit-alaska-us

You should tell people what documents you need to do it
Have you thought about if Canada denies your request to re-enter Canada on way home to lower 48 states?

Did you leave the car in the Yukon or did you take the car to Alaska?
I just subscribed see ya maybe somewhere along the way.
What happens if you're denied on Amtrak? Do you have to pay more money to come back to the states?
