"Nobody does it better" by Carly is one of my favourite bond theme tunes. Maybe you could do a Bond reaction night, there are so many great theme songs for those films.
Haven't got time for the Pain Is another popular yet moving song. Carly doesn't care for the spotlight and I think that's what makes her songs even more touching.
Finally, someone's reacting to the great Carly Simon!! Her catalogue is incredible. Check out her songs "Let The River Run", "Coming Around Again", "You Belong to Me" "Hard to Be Tender" and "Nobody Does it Better". You won't be disappointed.
Some other songs by Carly Simon to check out: You Belong To Me, Anticipation, You're So Vain, Nobody Does it Better, Coming Around Again and Haven't Got Time For The Pain. You should also listen to Mockingbird by James Taylor and Carly Simon. If you want to check out some James Taylor I would suggest: Fire & Rain, Her Town Too, Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight, You've Got A Friend, How Sweet it Is, You're Smiling Face, Carolina in My Mind, Shower The People, You're Smiling Face, and Copperline,
I would like to add Anne Murray to this list of singers from the 70's. She had a great voice. And for a slightly different sound but still geat music, Gloria Estefan.
@@garyr8739 I remember when I was a kid watching the Glen Campbell show and Anne being on there and how good she was,and my dad commenting that she should smile. lol
I was born in 1957, so I grew up as rock grew. Somewhere down the line in 1971, I was sitting in my neighbors garage with the door open either playing pool or ping pong and this song came on. From the first time I heard this it has been my all time favorite song. Song idea how, with all the great music and artists that have come since the day I was born, but to this day, this song is my #1.
Carly Simon, James Taylor, and Carole King were three folk/pop powerhouses in the '70's and '80's. They were 3 of my favorite artists during that time period. Their songs had such wonderful melodies and told such unique and heart-felt stories.
One of my favorites songs ever! The lyrics are so profound. I swear I can visualize everything Carly is singing about! I'm thankful that it's not my reality🙏😊
I've always loved the music of Carly Simon. (Her father was the "Simon" of the publishing company Simon & Schuster.) It's hard to believe that she's now in her 70's. Great song.

Great reaction. So glad you’re discovering all the talent from the 70s. I was lucky to grow up with all of it! Carly is wonderful. As a kid I thought this song was beautiful yet disturbing. So many Carly songs for you to react to. How about “the right thing to do”. Think you’ll like it. Also would love you to discover Lisa stansfield from the early 90s. You’ll love her voice too. So much to expose you young people to. Lol.
Carly had so many hits - another fav is Haven’t Got Time for the Pain. You really should listen to Carole King too. Anything off her Tapestry album, but my fav of hers is You’ve Got a Friend with James Taylor on backup vocals. Carole wrote songs dating back to the 50s, a very talented lady. She wrote Natural Woman that Aretha sang. Carly and Carole defined soft rock female vocalists in the 70s.
The 70s had some great singer songwriters: carly Simons, Carole king, james Taylor, Paul Simon, Neil young, Paul Williams, Janis Ian etc etc. We oldies were so lucky but now, thanks to youtube you youngsters can hear them too.

"Their children hate them for the things they're not. They hate themselves for what they are". Those are such poignant and insightful lyrics, especially considering how young she was at the time. There's some of my favorite lyrics of all time.
The most powerful line to me in the song is "I'll never learn to be just me first, by myself." I went out on my own in my early 20s, and it was such a time of discovery of who I was, and who I was to become. It was an invaluable time of becoming a full person, in charge of my own life.

Jovoughn, you are getting a good eye for yesteryears greats. That is indeed George Harrison. You're getting there. Lol. Carly Simon...Beautiful lady, amazing singer. Had several hits back in her heyday. Please look into some more of her music.
Been a HUGE Carly fan, since first hearing this back in high school, when it was first released. Everyone's probably familiar with her hits that got so much radio airplay. But for each one of those....there are at least half a dozen more on every album, that unless you've bought it at some point.....you've likely never even heard. 'Touched By The Sun' is one you could really appreciate. Or 'Libby'.....or 'Playing Possum'. 'Never Been Gone'.......'I've Got To Have You'.

She's unbelievably accomplished. She plays the piano (I'm always impressed with that talent), sings, writes her own songs, has scored movies, wrote an opera for which she won critical acclaim, and has also authored children's books. I've always loved this song in particular because it paints such a vivid picture (especially in the first verse). She's a born storyteller (as is James Taylor - it's easy to understand how they were once a couple.)
Oh wow Carly. My favorite and my children's favorite as they were growing up was Coming Around Again/Itsy Bitsy Spider. A song about family, so real and raw and beautiful.
Carly Simon is a national treasure. That's the Way was from her self titled debut album, and she released her second album, Anticipation, 8 months later. She's the only artist who's had two charting albums competing with each other. In 1971, she won the Grammy award for record of the year (Anticipation), and Best New Artist. She's been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and she won the Oscar for the movie soundtrack, Working Girl. Let The River Run is a beautiful, powerful song. Some of her other big hits were "The Right Thing To Do", "Haven't Got Time for the Pain", "You Belong to Me", "It Keeps You Running" (Doobie Bros cover), "Mockingbird" a fun duet, & 60s remake w her then husband, James Taylor. I love me Carly Simon 💘

Jay, very few performers can go live and have it as good as the audio version. You're listening to one of those performers now, another example is the Bee Gee's. Also, the guy that Carly Simon was married to, James Taylor. Both excellent performers.
What an incredible talent she was. She had a serious shyness that almost got in her rise to stardom. But like many greats she rose above it n made some awesome hits.
You should also review the studio version of this song. In the 70's, Carly Simon was married to James Taylor. They had one top 40 hit together called Mockingbird.
For contrast, try "Let The River Run"--- big, soaring song that won her an Oscar. And then pick up her biggest hits: "You're So Vain", "Anticipation", "Nobody Does It Better", and "Haven't Got Time For The Pain".

SHE HAS MANY SONGS. AMAZING VOICE AND SONGWRITER
This songs takes me back many moons ago to my youth listening to this song on the radio. Beautifully haunting.
For contrast, try "Let The River Run"--- big, soaring song that won her an Oscar. And then pick up her biggest hits: "You're So Vain", "Anticipation", "Nobody Does It Better", and "Haven't Got Time For The Pain".
My fav CS song was/is "You Belong to Me"....
Good selection JV she has such a unique voice👍👍👍
Love Carly! These lyrics are so heavy and melancholy...chokes me up every time I listen to this song.
