    Thanks!

Carly wrote many beautiful songs. She was special. James Taylor, Carole King, and Carly all broke into the biz at the same time, and they inspired and collaborated with each other a lot. . Their friendship was special, and the three of them added a lot of Magic to the 70's. SO many great songs, Maddy, for you to explore when you are ready. 🙂 Check out Carly's "You're So Vain"...

she was a great songwriter and performer ..Anticipation and You're So Vain are great songs also..

Her live duet with James Taylor, “Mockingbird,” is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Carly was from a famous family that was famously dysfunctional. To me, the song is about sadness and disappointment on the state of marriage in yhe pre-feminist era. Unfortunately, her own eventual failed marriage to James Taylor was no more successful than her parents. Every generation scorns their parents choices, until they try to successfully navigate life themselves, and sometimes make the same mistakes.

The one food that can ruin relationships, is wedding cake!

The two guys chatting are George Harrison of a little known band called The Beatles and Art Garfunkel of the law firm of Simon and Garfunkel!

  • @jgates6645

That was Art Garfunkel (Simon and Garfunkel) and George Harrison (The Beatles) in the beginning.

  • @racinnut77

She had a stammer/stutter as a child but that did not affect her when she sang. So, her mother encouraged her to sing what she wanted to say. Eventually the stammer/stutter went away as a result. She is/was a brilliant singer songwriter.

My favorite song by her. The lyrics paint such a vivid image of dissatisfaction that creeps into a marriage and settles on the children. I once went with a girl in High School just because she looked like Carly Simon.

Art Garfunkel and George Harrison! Cool!!!

You have Art Garfunkel of Simon & Garfunkel, and George Harrison of the Beatles huddling together at the beginning.

The 70s music was the highlight of music

Back in ancient times, when I was growing up, young people were pressured into conforming to societal standards. "Ladies, you'd better get married and have children when you have the chance or you'll end up a lonely and childless old maid. Do you want that to happen to you?" It was about this time that people, especially ladies with women's liberation, were beginning to challenge those notions. This song captures that awakening. Carly wrote the music for this song. Her frequent collaborator, Jacob Brackman, wrote the lyrics.

That audience knew, they had just witnessed, an incredible live performance 🎭

You can't imagine how lucky I feel that as a preteen in the 70s that my parents were Carly Simon Carol King and Karen Carpenter fans....the songs are forever in my head😊

  • @jokuz9133

You are brilliant how you understood it. Carli & carol king defined pop culture in the 70s. What a beautiful era

  • @geoffsimpkins7650

She was a huge star and lots of us boys thought she was beautiful.
