To preface; I’m not good at skating. That said, I’ve been buying skate shoes and using them (about) as intended for 20 years and the things I look for are versatility, low weight, low profile, and low odor. So far my favorite are (were?) adidas canvas Seelys. Etnies has a synthetic analogue that I switched to called the Jameson 2 eco. I still like the adidas most, but am getting good mileage from both, and only buy on sale. I think you guys mentioned something about how quickly an active skater will wear through ANY shoe pretty quickly, and it’s sort of the whole thing. Make em comfy, sturdy, and simple.. don’t worry about the perception that comes along with suede or leather. I had a pair of vans high tops made of suede years ago and they got HEAVY fast when I was skating in the summer. They also stretched out before I could burn through them. I really hope you guys keep looking at skate shoes, and keep in mind intended purpose. So far, for me, the Seelys and the Etnies are totally worth the 65 or so bucks, will last over a year as a daily walking shoe, and stay comfortable for that duration. Leather is a fantastic material, but I think it’s important to keep in mind that it isn’t always suited to every purpose. Thanks for what you guys do, keep it up.
@@ImAnEmergency Yes sir. Ma’am. Whatever. They’re pretty good looking, too. Two of the models are sidewall stitched. Well, front and back wall stitched, but it’s still better than the shoe talking after a while.
@@ChoiceEnvironments sole tech must be really struggling at this point. No wonder Sheckler left Etnies after like 2 decades. Can even get shoe goo while at Walmart too at the same time
@@ImAnEmergency Well, they’ve been road tested. They skate and hold up as good if not better than expensive brands, and they look good. I don’t need much else. I’m poor.
I felt conflicted when the brand first launched because of how thin and floppy they were. They have a couple other vulc models out: the VM002 and VM003, basically LRAB’s version of the Old Skool and Chuck Taylor. Updating the insoles was a necessary change. I haven’t tried out their shoes. The cupsole (CM001) and Mango’s pro model seem cheap. I’ve heard the shoes skate like a hybrid of Vans Classics and the Chuck Taylor.
We need more shoes like these that are made in USA. Only skate friendly US shoe I can think of is Woobies, which are great in most ways but my brutal feet managed to crack whatever plastic they use in their heels after a couple months.
I have a pair of the VM003s, and they've held up very well so far. This shoe and Nike Blazers are the 2 most durable shoes I've had. The VM003s did feel weird for a few weeks, like they were loose even though the next size down was too small.
I love skating in these shoes. I like the increased board feel and by the time they get really floppy I have already destroyed them so it's not a big issue for me. Although, I actually like their cup sole more. The CM001 has been one of my favorite shoes to skate in. The flick just feels amazing and they seem to hold up a little longer than the VM001. The VM001s just look amazing though, and with skating, especially street skating, the look is a big part of it. You just seem to skate better when your fit is on point, lol.
Love the skate shoe videos! It would be great to see older , really tech, bulky shoes (Globe Chet Thomas, DC Lynx/Legacy, etc), compared to the modern re-releases.
I love the skate shoe videos. I have some friends that love last resort, but my favorite shoe is the es accel og. I think it would be very interesting to see you cut them apart. the accel has a pretty interesting history too.
Great review! I had a feeling they were gonna hurt my feet after awhile but they do look great! Hopefully Last Resort can release a second upgraded version of this shoe. Please review asics skateboarding or the vans halfcab!
I think a lot of non-skaters probably don’t understand how the sale aisle works at a bigger skate shop, or why it’s so important to skaters. That’s how I wore some Last Resort AB from their first release. Those did not have removable insoles and fit like slippers. Similarly to these, skating them was not great. Lately, I’ve been wearing both of the New Balance Tiago Lemos models and they’re both very tight-on-foot, but also probably the most advanced and durable skate shoes I’ve ever worn. Would love to see the 808 or 1010 cut in half.
One thing to note is that these are the cheapest shoes on the market in the uk and you can regularly find them on sale for £40-50 while most other shoes are £70-85
One thing to note is that these are the cheapest shoes on the market in the uk and you can regularly find them on sale for £40-50 while most other shoes are £70-85 and don’t go on sale
Speaking about boots, maybe you can do a review on Chiruca boots? Its mostly hunting boots, that are very popular in Spain. Also I've got a pair of those, and I would be really pleased to see, what's inside of them. Upd: they also have a BOA lacing system, which can also be interesting
Woah shout out Moreporks from the home country, but also I'm gonna throw my bit of positive experince in with last resorts. I've skated 3 pairs of canvas VM003's, and they go good. I've always liked minimalist shoe designs, but could never run a vans authentic because they just look a bit wussy to me. The canvas VM003 feel a lot like the Vans style 38, which they've kinda stopped making, so I'm happy to have found this brand. I wish them the best, gonna support them as long as I like skating them. btw I've only ever bought them on sale for around $50-$60 USD, the local skate shop had them on sale cos they said no one wanted them.
I’ve had 3 pairs of Last Resorts, and would not buy any more. The first pair were from the first release, and the rubber outsole started to shed like a snake, within 2 weeks of wearing them. The second pair, high tops, were at least 1 size if not 1.5 size larger than my actual foot. And the third pair have been fine. Why I tried 3 times, I do not know. They look nice out the box, and arguable feel more premium than a Vans or Cons shoe. But given that they’re £80 retail in UK, you’re not actually getting anything more than those other brands, other than the cool guy vibes and a fun logo
They are sized like a converse that’s why they are bigger, if you would have done a quick search you could have discovered that. And don’t play the “just a fun logo” game when they hide their logo the most out of every other company
Does Last Resort make the best skate shoe possible? Absolutely not. but I love what they're doing, they all seem like cool people over there and they're doing something pretty neat.
The best.. was when skate shoes came with extra arch support haha. Es and emerica specifically back in the days. Late 90's early 00's.. blue scallop foam with some double side tape haha. Could get so much support. Now they are all eh.
When I was a kid in the 80s, AirWalk was the shoe brand for skating. They were thin and hurt your feet to walk in them all day. But, they flexed with your feet really easy and had a thick band around the sole that lasted longer than Vans. The ones I liked weren't much different than those high top Vans they showed. Pumas weren't bad either.
I've always been bitter towards Vans because the longest a pair has lasted me is about a month, but I like the look and feel of them otherwise. I bought a pair of these and aside from how narrow they are they are great shoes
These are absolutely my favourite skate shoes but they definitely fill a niche. Really grippy sole and tons of boardfeel. I skate better in them than any other shoe. Also in the UK these things are much cheaper and actually a decent value shoe. I probably wouldn’t pay full price in the US first them.
Love the channel! I was wondering if you could cut the Adidas Handball Spezial in half? I have been thinking about getting them for a while and this is the channel I trust.
Depends on the color way but some of the purple, blue, and brown styles I've seen on sage for like 39-45 bucks. For that price I think it's definitely worth checking out but the msrp is def a bit much.
Thank you for this review! I was dreaming about your review of Last Resort AB. Beautiful style, really nice upper materials, good rubber material. But the glue of their soles is shitty, the sole is so thin, the heel feels really bad on heel flips. After two weeks of skating, these shoes hold my feet bad. I'm staying with Vans Pros mostly. ALSO: it's interesting to see your review of Last Resort's Cup sole model. It looks so nice. Thanks
I only buy last resorts on sale or on second hand site. Darn good skate shoes in my opinion. Even the canvas, using a rubber backing behind and I’ve worn through the bottom before I ripped through both pieces of the upper on the canvas models.
Never heard of big boy jeans. I just typically wear the Full Blue brand of Jeans. they are only $12 at Bomgaars and they last longer than wanglers that I have also had. I just checked Bomgaars site they are now $14 to $15 which is still not bad. About the shoe, I would have loved to have seen a close up of the inside and more details after it was cut in half.
Just looked at my local skate shop online you can pick up some very reasonably for around 40 UK. Love my local shop. It's not actually local it's near my parents, still do some really good offers. As someone on a fixed income who can't really improve my situation it's such a good shop. Love Nike but I'd much rather spend money at flatspot.
Do some Fallen Footwear! I'm trying to think what I wore when I skated all the time. Fallen was my favorite brand because I couldn't kill them, but I remember Globe and DVS being decent.
Old insoles were waaaay better imo hate the new ones cloudy cush, made the fit completely different have to order a size .5 up I own 15 pairs of LRAB ama
Last resort are definitely an aesthetic choice. They are too expensive, too fragile, and too poorly padded (either too little or too much) to be great skate shoes. But they do look great and the founder is awesome. I prefer NB 440s, 480s Ishod 2’s and even Skate Sambas. Work way better
You guys should look at one of the Hours Is Yours shoes they seem like the most Rose Anvil skate shoe brand I can think of with their pigskin lining being like a selling point for them
They’re actually filling a really interesting niche in the market with their Tasseled Loafers. I can skate to and from work in uniform without having to change shoes lol
You should review Jim Greene Numzaan boots, i think the leather is chrome tan and veg tanned, would love to get your feedback on the advantages/disadvantages of that.
$95 isn’t bad. Once they hit discounters and eBay they’ll be more reasonable. Provided they produce the numbers necessary to outperform demand. Paying retail for almost anything is madness. But you guys keep it up or I won’t have the leftovers for dirt cheap!
love how you put "& Leather Daddy" on your tittle card now!!!! edit: now you just need a plaque for your office. also sam needs royalty for that lol, he coined it first in your video as far as i am concerned (might be wrong bout that tho)
I concur, nice to loaf around in and at the moment I spend most of my work days on sprung wood floors, so there's that. Three pairs in and I've only ever picked them up when they're reduced on sale. Not a terrible shoe, but still not the best. 6.5/10
Hoping to get a new cut in half converse again and it's japan market converse. One pair for Made In Japan chucks and one more pair for US Originator chucks 🙏
Bought several Aetnies and Vans for my twenty-something kids last xmas; they were feeling nostalgic for their old shoes. They all sucked. The Vans were appalling bad, and the return policies were bordering scams. Did they get bought by Private Equity and I missed it? Cuz they've been Yankee Candled.
I've love to see something like the eS Accel OGs. I've been skating them or something simliar since the 90's, and I like to know why I've been buying the wrong shoes since the then. It's probably the reason I still suck :p
I only skate etnies and osiris, I've never in my life bought big brand shoes but once , some tall blue converse which hurt my feet and had to discard after like a month,,, and I wasn't even a skater back then. Don't just support local shops , support skater owned businesses too

Only skate friendly US shoe I can think of is Woobies, which are great in most ways but my brutal feet managed to crack whatever plastic they use in their heels after a couple months.
wait what about Vans?
OG Janoski lows are the best low cut vulc shoes ever for skating imo
did you quit in 2013
@@technofaza what's better
I find the heel cup on the OG J’s always folds at the bottom - sort of creases against the outsole.
As a skater, learned a couple of shoe related and practical things from this video.
Bought two pairs for like 40 bucks each from some old collection in my local. Really love them so far and they look so clean
Nice! Would like to see the Nike SB blazer mid and low GTs being reviewed here.
Best skateshoe for me and many more are the
éS Accel Og and etnies Joslin cupsole (joslin2 as well) no vulcanized shoe will withstand a cupsole
So happy when a new video hits!! 🤍🌹
Look good feel good skate good. These shoes are some of the best looking. I’ve had 2 pairs of vm001 and want to try the cupsoles
Any chance of a vintage skate shoe series? Especially of the 90s/2000s tech era.😎
I would like to see a review of: thorogood code iii oxford. my favorite skate/bmx shoe no joke.. leather, usa made, affordable.
Weston is a freaking scientist 🧑🔬 👏🏼
You should make a video about Puma Classic shoes!
Old insoles were waaaay better imo hate the new ones cloudy cush, made the fit completely different have to order a size .5 up
I own 15 pairs of LRAB ama
I love these skate shoe vids, keep it up
love how you put "& Leather Daddy" on your tittle card now!!!!
edit: now you just need a plaque for your office.
also sam needs royalty for that lol, he coined it first in your video as far as i am concerned (might be wrong bout that tho)
I concur, nice to loaf around in and at the moment I spend most of my work days on sprung wood floors, so there's that. Three pairs in and I've only ever picked them up when they're reduced on sale. Not a terrible shoe, but still not the best. 6.5/10
I had a pair and they were possibly my favourite ever. Mine were canvas though.
Actually surprised you didnt bring the fact that the tread is made so you dont get stones stuck in the bottom of your shoes
if they ever finish the sneaker series id like to see them which sneaker is the best every day shoe
Funny random thing is that my best skateboarding ever throughout my 17 year carreer was in Supra shoes. They were so god damn proper damn!
LOVING these skate shoe reviews!!!! EXPOSE THE INDUSTRY!
The insole and outsole definitely look thicker than converse and vans. But I’ll try them out first.
Love the channel. I'll buy your boots when you make a jungle boot.
Hoping to get a new cut in half converse again and it's japan market converse. One pair for Made In Japan chucks and one more pair for US Originator chucks 🙏
Can you cut up an Our Legacy Camion Boots next? They are really popular at the moment!
Been skating these since the first drop i love them
Onitsuka Tiger just reopened shipping to the US. You should cut a pair of the nippon made mexico 66s in half.
yall just spared my wallet & bad ankles, keep sawing these sk8 shoes!! Cheers!
Yo can't believe you finally made this video I dm'd you waaaaay back about last resort lol good shit
Now do Hoffman boots 😂
This rules! Please do more skate shoes
What about an Adidas comparison? They have the skate superstar, samba and Stan smith I think.
Don't just support local shops , support skater owned businesses too
Can't imagine skating these, vans, cons etc
Love the skate shoe content - thank you!
Is Pony still around? I don't skate but I ride bmx in the 90s and Ponys were my favorite shoes.
