It hits even harder when you realize that Haurchefant was illegitimate, and you never hear Lord Edmont refer to him as his son until that moment in the end, where he breaks all decorum and mourns his loss.
Yep. Haurchefant was only a half-brother to Antoriel & Emmanellain, since they had different mothers (it's also possible that Haurchefant's mother was "lowborn" [a "servant girl" for instance?], while Antoriel & Emmanellain were born to Count Fortemps' actual wife) and yet both of them still saw Haurchefant as their brother and are just as devastated by his death as Count Fortemps. Antoriel laments lost opportunities and how there are things that he will never get to tell Haurchefant. And Emmanellain feels like the entire thing is just some cosmic joke, except that it's *not* funny. And with Count Fortemps....well, no parent should ever have to bury their own child. No parent ever deserves that kind of pain and grief.
Haucherfant’s death hits hard, but I think when his dad gets the news of his death is the most heart breaking. Guy tries to keep strong, but visibly breaks down at the end. Love it, love the emotions.
@@k.vn.k yup, in my mind it is a realistic portrayal of a parent who has outlived their own child. Then with each crack of the voice, you could hear the grief creep through till he finally collapsed and weeps.

The story is so amazing and cinematics and most important you don't have to buy books outside the game to learn the lore because in ffxiv lore is in game
That thing is the most braking one in my opinion even more crushing than the actual death scene, the way he says "my son" while dropping down to knees feels so real like it actually happened to him irl(hope not).
@@bigbay1159 Yeah and also the fact he tried to power trough the pain of loss at first with shaking voice but when alphinaud said hes line that is what finally broke him down. Good cinematography coupled with good voice acting is what made that scene.
Haurchefaunt dying in my arms just made me angry at the time rather than crying (angry at the person who killed him and hell bent on vengeance I mean) but seeing his father break down at the thought that he had now out lived his son broke my heart in half almost instantly and made me bawl my eyes out.
The Haurchefant scene made me sad but yeah, this is the scene that broke me. Everyone unable to say anything, Alphinaud speaking up to say what no one else can, and him letting the situation fully hit him just hurts. It’s so raw and real.
@@zman1347 His dad gets me EVERY TIME. Like I'm sad thinking about Harchufant, but he went out the way he wanted to. But his dad dropping to his knees, and being completely unable to ever look at you, terrible day for rain.
This is an example of something that is very different from WoW. In WoW, death is commonplace in its plots, and you get a little numb to it. In FFXIV, death is tragic. It never loses that sense of tragedy.
And they aren't afraid of killing people off and leaving it there. Sure, if we don't see the body being buried or dissipating into nothing a bunch of presumed deaths end up being fake-outs but in cases like this, its very clear if someone has died. And there is no magic or other plot contrivances that could ever undo such a death, outside of Ascian powers (and even then those aren't alive in the traditional sense to begin with).
I mean, yes and no, because they refuse to make characters that you can get attatched to and then kill them. Like, nobody really cared that bunch of random night elfes died when sylvanas burned the tree because they are just random no names. The last time they really did that was with Nazgrim in MoP, i was actually really sad that i had to kill him in SoO.
100%. When I finished Endwalker and was having like this cheery conversation with Meteios after seeing Zeno walk in right behind me, every time I hit next on the dialogue I was dreading the moment he would come in and cut her down. Like when she left I let out a long breath of relief.
For as hard as Haurchefant's death hits, it hits harder realizing that the guy backed you all the way from the earlier days of Coerthas, in ARR. For the two plus years prior to the HW patch, dude backed the WOL without question. When you look at his backstory even before hand in the society he grew in and how that society looked down on bastards: well that doesn't help. He was the first kid among the Fortemps who was least wanted around by those outside his family, put on the fronts in Coerthas Central as much to have him out of sight as anything else, and he persevered to be the most welcoming and supportive character in Ishgard: the rest of that support within Ishgard ultimately came from him and his efforts with his family, his superiors, and more. I had already loved his almost WOL-simpy flair from ARR, myself. This scene killed me. But props to FFXIV's devs for this particular switch out, after we thought the Sultana was going to be the major main story line character we lost: and not bringing him back. His death meant more because of, all that. And yes, that was the first time we saw blood in the game. Fitting time and event, don't you think?
One the things that FFXIV does well is that the player actually feels like part of the story and the characters in it, even in cutscenes, properly interact and acknowledge you. In WoW, the player is basically a hidden support character that does things in the background and barely interacts with the story in Cinematics and stuff.
Edmont's voice acting is honestly phenomenal. You could really hear him trying to keep from breaking down when he was talking about how a knight lives to serve.
WoW is a story about mages warriors and dragons that sometimes happens to be people. FFXIV is a story about people that sometimes happens to be mages warriors and dragons
@@nathanalexandre9043 WoW characters are defined by theyr class and capabilities much more than FFXIV ones. I dunno what you on about. FFXIV even change class and capabilities but still remain people. Jaina is and always will be a frost mage first and a person second. And is not bad it's jsut different approaches
The thing that hits the most about Haurchefants death is count edmonts reaction It feels like your fault he died because he protected you and after all count edmont did to protect you and house you in Ishgard it all costed him his son
And the first favor Haurchefant ever ask for from his father is to protect you. They love each other but always kept distant because he's a bastard son.
Haurchefant has been protecting the WoL since post ARR if you think about it. He is the one who begs his father take them (as well as Alphinaud and Tataru) as wards while they were being pursued by the traitorous Braves and Ul'Dah guard. Without him they would have had to be on the run the whole time. He has saved the WoL not once, but twice
"My essence claimed thee once" For those that don't know, he's referring to the Level 50 Dragoon quest. Estinien was a major player in that questline, and a Nidhogg-influenced Estinien was the final fight of the ARR Dragoon quests.
@@lethargicwizard It's a spoiler for anyone who hasnt done the lvl50 DRG job quest, honestly, since 1 char can do all classes, it will always be a spoiler unless you lvld up a dragoon already

Ho man, wait till you get to shadowbringers, it'll bring you on your knees. Im not weeping wilson either but when you understand the villains in that expansion....it really is like a knife twisting in your wound. Such a bittersweet feeling throughout the xpack. It was bloody brilliant.
Everyone that's played ffxiv has been waiting for you to get to that part of the MSQ. We all have a warm spot in our hearts for him, and we always will.
I saw this live but I had to come to this video to rewatch asmons reaction to haucherfaunts death. That's one of those moments in this game where if you say "a smile better suits a hero" to another player, you have an instant connection with one another because we remember going through this scene our first time. You go through an incredible dungeon and then you get to that cut scene...and then you have to tell his dad he's dead... Storytelling at its finest. It really shows why the culture of the game very much is centered on the story.
There's a scene near the end of Heavensward that nods back to this scene. It's not a huge spoiler, but just in case. Spoiler - After you defeat a big boss at the end, you and Alphinaud do something (being vague in case you haven't gotten to this point yet). You see the spirit of Hauchefant, and as he puts his hand on yours to urge you to keep going. You look at him, and smile. Nodding back to him saying a smile better suits a hero. It's a quick moment, but a nice touch.

I've been wondering if Asmongold would have a strong reaction to the Shadowbringers story. Having seen his response to Haurchefort's death, I think it'll be a memorable experience.
My group chat told me they wanted to do The Vault with me cause "It's a fun dungeon" I learned that it was really that they wanted to be on a call with me when I got to this part
Lol my FC almost went nuts when I said I was doing the Vault. They stopped what they were doing and one even waited for me before they logged off. Once I was done they asked me how I felt. And I said “like that bolt of light did to my heart what it did to Haurchefant’s shield.” Then they commiserated.
I hated elves for a fucking long time... until i played heavensward Aymeric, Estinien and Haurchefant are three absolute chads and all on my top 10 characters in the game. Holy fuck, heavensward is awesome. Best game expansion i've ever played in my life.
Haurchefant's "A smile better suits a hero" is hit me so hard way back when that I tell that myself whenever I'm facing any sort of hardship in life to propel me forward, and there's been no shortage of hardship in these past few years. Will probably end up finding a way to make that into a cool tattoo down the line so I never forget =)

20:20 The jobs that in FF14 that are also from older games retain some of what they're most known for. Dark Knights are extremely good at attacking hordes of enemies. It's why they have more abilities dedicated to that than any other tank.
Really? I mean we have Darkness, and our little spam AOE. That we use over and over and over. 90% of our dungeon rotation feels like just that one attack…
@@dangerwarg9682 I’m 80 and I tend to agree, other than salted earth your basic aoe and your meter based aoe most of its attacks are single target and it has no more multi targets than Palladian, actually I’d argue it is in some ways opposite of its roots, with older final fantasy dark knights sacrificing hp for their attacks, and dark knight having one or two that drain it
Salted earth cd should’ve went back to 45 sec or was it 60 sec. at 80 it’s spam of 2 aoe, occasional salted earth, flood of darkness, and aoe soul spender. I was salty when they made dark knight a tank. Samurai should’ve been a tank. Imagine dark knight dps.
@@jackadam9348 neither one should be tank really, samurai as a tank wouldn’t have worked, they don’t wear heavy armor or anything, and they’re cooler as dps, and as much as I like dark knight as a tank, the premise of dark knight is risk and reward in all other games in the series where you sacrifice hp to do damage, or would’ve been cool as a dps
It hurts so much with how good Haurchefant was, and how Edmont felt basically like a surrogate dad while you're in Ishgard. It felt like seeing your actual dad cry
I was waiting for that ending part to see Asmon reaction to it. Played myself and it has to be the best scene within the expansion to me personally. Not to take away the others but I like this one the most since Haurchefant has been a bro to us for some time till this very end. I would say I had the same reaction as Asmon, where it's just denial and sadness of what happen. It's fine not to shed a tear imo but others do take it very differently from each other. So to others playing, just take it how you please, not everybody is going to share that same experience
I'm gonna go ahead and say that the vault is easily in my top 3 fave game experiences ever. The story buildup with all the revelations in such a short amount of time, the riots with Ysayles speech, the knights attacking you, chasing after the archbishop going into the church with all the music and the visuals and the transformations and then with haurchefant dying and them escaping and the complete emptiness you feel after as well as Aymerics moral dilemma with the archbishop being his father and trying to do the right thing even if it means going against him. Video game perfection in my eyes 👌 ticks all the boxes for an amazing experience. Such a whirlwind of emotions in such a short amount of time. Plus I think because the final boss in the Vault was my first real major challenge where I struggled as a healer it really added to my experience.
In FFXIV, as dragons get older, they shed their skin and morph into different forms depending on their experiences. This is why there are so many different types but they are all dragon. Some can even change their shape at any given time, although that typically requires millenia of experience and not done out of whim. (Midgarsormr, Nidhog, etc)
Haucherfant looks like a god damn generic NPC that stands out in the open handing out quests (and he pretty much was that pre-HW) yet his death is a extreme emotional blow to the player. That's how insane the story and writing in Heavensward is.
It’s just….the way he smiles after saying “A smile better suits a hero.” He truly was one of the best heroes in this game, and his last smile will always be a powerful image.
They can't make him a mechanical arm because Magitek is something that the Garleans do. Their technology is significantly higher because our faction relies more on magic than tech. Cid though, could make him an arm, no doubt. Not sure if Raubahn would accept Garlean tech melded to his body though, considering how much he hates them.
@@SuperRamos619 that's what OP is implying. Just on lore wise, would Raubahn accept to have a mechanical arm since that's more towards that of Garlean tech and the only known Garlean that is good is Cid who knows magitek. Also that's the Empire we're talking about, so we are not entirely sure if Raubahn would like to have the "enemies" technology integrated on him
Funny thing about this is him doing it on purpose. Sometimes he says the names correctly very casually without noticing unless he deliberately brings it up.
What I love about the last boss of The Vault is that up until now the game has pretty much been using it's kiddy gloves. And then the game throws a boss fight at you where the Healer and the DPS actually have to be awake, the Healer because of the damage he throws out, and the DPS to avoid putting even MORE preassure on the healer by taking preventbale damage from chains or just positioning so they can be broken easily. Hell, I like to call The Vault the Healer Check dungeon for this reason.
I can't wait to see his reaction to the cutscene after the Thordan primal fight, I have a feeling he'll enjoy seeing the WoL well and truly livid for the first time.

I just finished Heavensward myself, minus the patches after (still working on them now), but Heavensward has 100% drawn me into the game. ARR was..okay. Grindy at first, but the end & the fluidity into Heavensward 10/10 for me. I'm so in love with the game now! & I've even had that "moment" where tears reached my eyes at the end of Heavensward.
The story gets so good, you will literally cry tears of joy and tears of sadness in the same cutscene. There are no words to describe the masterpiece that this entire story is, only emotions no one can understand until they’ve experienced them
Heavensward was such an amazing story. I've played a DRG main since 1.0 and this expansion has so many awesome nods to the things you went through on your class quests. My character has a bond with Estinien that other players don't have, as a result, and I love that.

When i saw u were playing this part of the story i had to watch and see if it would hit you. I mean shit im from the hood and damn near shed a tear when he died they really get you invested in these characters
I think they establish that the spear he got impaled by corrupted his very aether. So you can't heal the wounds it gave him, because his very essence is de-stabilized by the attack. Which is why it has the glow around it.
In Thordan's trial Zephirin hits players with the same spear, and it adds debuff that reduces healing potency But yeah, this scene hits more hard when you are a healer. After this I lvled a different job because I couldn't play as a healer anymore lol

He can probably forcibly keep his composure on stream. And I don't feel any of the other candidate scenes are quite as severe in their delivery. There is that one prior to Stormblood though, the one that is a callback to Coil.
"wow characters are more memorable" Haucherfant, a character that all in all have a minor role in the story is still remembered both by the characters in game and by 90% of the community to the point there is a memorial to him in each fanfest.
I think he's mostly just playing it up. Same as when he keeps boasting about a boss being "the easiest fight in the game" before getting bodied when the mechanics ramp up.
It's a death I still cannot get over. He was such a good character. Watching him go through the story has been awesome. I am genuinely happy that he is enjoying himself in game too. I really hope he can get caught up before Endwalker drops because I want him to experience the last chapter of this current story arc with everyone else.

Honestly this whole thing with Lolorito pisses me off to no end. Sure he saved Sultana's life, but by administering the sleeping potion he put things into motion that basically plunged Eorzea into war with the Empire and caused a lot of death. Not to mention he cost Raubahn his arm. Having him on trial for high treason is the very least that should've happened. I don't get why it's brushed aside just because Raubahn happened to execute a traitor who basically all but admitted to (attempting) assassination.
Raubahn might have reason to forgive him, but from our perspective, the Scions may have died because of this, and we are not a citizen of Ul'dah. If the WoL had acted, there's precious little reason to dissuade him. The only major one I can think of is this: the death of Lolorito would cause massive societal instability in Ul'dah and likely lead to the deaths of thousands. He's the wealthiest member of the monatarists, and not just by a little bit. The Brass Blades security force belongs to him, as does a significant number of companies upon which Ul'dah's economy relies. At this point, the sultana has been out of the game and Raubahn is still publicly accused of treason. Loloritto's death would be a third pillar of Ul'dah's governance removed, leaving the kind of power vacuum that results in war.
I don't think you fully grasp the political situation of the Sultanate. Even if they tried to put him in trial with hard conclusive evidence it would be an uproar so imagine what would happen if they did so with no proof at all, just the testimony of people that are known to be friends of the Sultana (neither the handmaiden nor the leader of the church would support that). Lolorito is arguably even more influential than the sultana, he is the richest person in a city where wealth = everything and on top of that by virtue of both being the richest and being really shrewd he is the leader of the Monetarist, any move against him is a move against the Monetarist as a whole. So yeah, for the sake of stability, since Lolorito is not interested in harming the Sultana or her position in any way, it would be pretty bad to pretty much push the city-state into civil war just for "justice" (that would most likely not even be delivered anyways). On top of that, all that happened was set in motion by Teledji's plan, what Lolorito did himself caused no further harm although yes, if he had just warned everyone about his plan I guess most of it or even all of it could have been 100% prevented, that is true.
Well this is medieval politics and more than the "Law" their politics is more about power and control, Lolorito as part of the monetarist like Teledji hold incredible amount of power even rivaling that of the sultana. So it is not easily to take them on head on, yes he could have been trialed for treason, but would he be found guilty for treason? after all it was HIS intervention that saved the life of the Sultana so if found guilty it would riled up the rest of the monetarist against the crown, if found innocents then it would make the sultana look weak as a result after all Lolorito indeed conspired behind the Crown's back
Hope he wont skip the ishgard restoration questine, it gives many details of the aftermath following thordans and nidhoggs demise. Just because its tied to a crafting zone hope he would still stream and react to the questline, the questline really shows how ishgard and the high houses develops and gets better as a nation
One thing that FF14 does leaps and bounds better than WoW is make the story feel like a classic, offline RPG. In WoW you are just one random person among many - you witness events and play your part in them, but you are never really important or make a difference. In FF14 the story is told in relation to you and how you act. The charactres/NPCs actually acknowledge you as a friend and put their trust in you - which makes you a part of the story. And this is exactely why a death like Haurchefont's hurts so much.
The one sentence my friend repeated over and over while I played Heavensward: "You will HATE the eye." And every time I said that I did already, she was like "no, just wait for it" (Lore wise of course, the fights due to it are fun xD)

The Haurchefant scene made me sad but yeah, this is the scene that broke me. Everyone unable to say anything, Alphinaud speaking up to say what no one else can, and him letting the situation fully hit him just hurts. It’s so raw and real.

"A Smile Better Suits A Hero."
I'm so glad he's loving the story. Cant wait to see his reaction to the Shadowbringers story. He's gonna freak out!
That's why I'm here. I get to experience the story fresh again, through his eyes. (And it really is a good story)
One the things that FFXIV does well is that the player actually feels like part of the story and the characters in it, even in cutscenes, properly interact and acknowledge you.
In WoW, the player is basically a hidden support character that does things in the background and barely interacts with the story in Cinematics and stuff.
And to catch things I missed the first time through... 2:29 being a reference to the alchemist class quests.
Dude, when he gets to The Axe? He's gonna lose his shit!

In FFXIV, as dragons get older, they shed their skin and morph into different forms depending on their experiences. This is why there are so many different types but they are all dragon. Also that's the Empire we're talking about, so we are not entirely sure if Raubahn would like to have the "enemies" technology integrated on him
Raubahn is the type that wears his battle scars. Not sure if he would use a prothestic
@@SuperRamos619 lol wat? cid's a garlean that makes garlean-style technology
We'll have to keep smiling for him 😭 god I miss my man Homiefant
I'm getting addicted to asmons ability to murder a character/creatures names. Nydogg lol
That is cringe asf.
Funny thing about this is him doing it on purpose. Sometimes he says the names correctly very casually without noticing unless he deliberately brings it up.
@@AlexanderPR2 what about Grunge af? Oh, you kids don't even now what grunge is lol
@@AlexanderPR2 I don't even know Milfina's proper name and I must have read it a hundred times in the MSQ.
"he had a superpac" ah yes evil oligarchy sadly very relatable XD
What I love about the last boss of The Vault is that up until now the game has pretty much been using it's kiddy gloves.
And then the game throws a boss fight at you where the Healer and the DPS actually have to be awake, the Healer because of the damage he throws out, and the DPS to avoid putting even MORE preassure on the healer by taking preventbale damage from chains or just positioning so they can be broken easily.
Hell, I like to call The Vault the Healer Check dungeon for this reason.
"A smile better suits a hero" takes on so much more meaning in Shadowbringers.
i would put that a spoiler but true!
@@AnimeAmvStar Its only a spoiler if you give it context.
I can't wait to see his reaction to the cutscene after the Thordan primal fight, I have a feeling he'll enjoy seeing the WoL well and truly livid for the first time.
I can't wait to see his reaction to the whole dragonsong war quest
My freakin Miqo has like, the cutest little face, my first character has some serious RBF and my new main has like, resting cute happy face. Seeing her THAT PISSED had me actually say out loud "DAMN, GIRL!" lol
Ah, the moment has arrived. "That moment from Heavensward". Everyone knows the one...
I’m sitting here trying to drink my coffee and I gotta hear things like, “what we need to do, is just kill all Lalafells.” And “So did they just delete the subreddit?” DUDE! I’m quite literally dying!
He's very quickly become one of my favourite streamers to have on in the background, like if I'm watching and giving full attention he's very engaging but he's almost just as entertaining when I'm not paying attention and here off the cuff comments where, I don't even need the context, it's just fuckin hilarious.
There are no words to describe the masterpiece that this entire story is, only emotions no one can understand until they’ve experienced them
You are absolutely spot on. It is a masterpiece quite undoubtedly.
Ff community is changing asmon slowly he was actually being nice to other players lol
Not that Cody did anything wrong but I think the presence alone kinda dimmed down his reaction tbh.
Yeah I thought so too, I really wish Cody wasn't there at that moment.
You tend to avoid showing your true self around family.
Heavensward was such an amazing story. I've played a DRG main since 1.0 and this expansion has so many awesome nods to the things you went through on your class quests. My character has a bond with Estinien that other players don't have, as a result, and I love that.
"Oh, do not look at me so. A smile better suits a hero…" This scene broke me...glad it still rings strong to this day
My Discord freaking pinned the message I sent after that scene
"THIS IS NOT HOW I WANTED US TO HOLD HANDS"
The story just gets better…. FF14 has always been a great game with a great story, I’m glad that so many new people are finally seeing it.
I love the current Voice Actors over the ARR VAs bc the HW VAs are so amazing
Bro i have to say ur commentary on this game is very entertaining. Most ffxiv content creators are really cool but ur brand of language and humor is welcome. When i saw u were playing this part of the story i had to watch and see if it would hit you. I mean shit im from the hood and damn near shed a tear when he died they really get you invested in these characters
Haucherfant's death hits extra badly playing as a healer. Like, I'm RIGHT HERE, I CAN SAVE HIM LET ME SAVE HIM.
All the feels. T_T
I think they establish that the spear he got impaled by corrupted his very aether. So you can't heal the wounds it gave him, because his very essence is de-stabilized by the attack.
Which is why it has the glow around it.
In Thordan's trial Zephirin hits players with the same spear, and it adds debuff that reduces healing potency
But yeah, this scene hits more hard when you are a healer. After this I lvled a different job because I couldn't play as a healer anymore lol
@@CrashB111 Yeah, there's a reason in the story. I meant more in the general feels sense of "My whole job is patch and repair and instead we're all standing around being sad as he's in need of patch and repair and this SUUUUCCCCKKKKKSSSS."
@@LittleHobbit13 Honestly it would have that nice extra little gut-punch if a healer WoL tried to heal him and failed. Would've added some interesting nuance to a certain scene in Stormblood, too.
You're all wrong, Lalafell are without a doubt the most interesting and plot driving characters in the game. Every time a Lalafell is involved, stuff is gonna get exciting!
I hope at some time, Asmon read each FATE lore. Some of the lore has practically crazy lore lol.
My man totally invested with the story.. i swear he gonna break down crying someday
At 1:37:02 I think he might have already.
He can probably forcibly keep his composure on stream. And I don't feel any of the other candidate scenes are quite as severe in their delivery.
There is that one prior to Stormblood though, the one that is a callback to Coil.
highly doubt that he'll cry with FFXIV, story is good but it ain't THAT great how some people make it out to be the best thing ever.
"wow characters are more memorable"
Haucherfant, a character that all in all have a minor role in the story is still remembered both by the characters in game and by 90% of the community to the point there is a memorial to him in each fanfest.
I love how he still gets surprised when a bosses health drops really quick and it has a 2nd stage.
Kudos to the editors, mang! I was suprised by this new intro + timestamps! Incredible! Thank you for taking the time to edit this. :D
Also thanks for showing us Asmon, that you're not like one of those dumb commenters who waste their time shitting on FFXIV in every WoW/FFXIV video out there... Been watching your content ever since your early FFXIV reaction videos hahhah. You proved us wrong and gave the game a chance. Thank you.
Lolorito was always pretty interesting to me so I'm very satisfied with the current outcome
So it is not easily to take them on head on, yes he could have been trialed for treason, but would he be found guilty for treason? after all it was HIS intervention that saved the life of the Sultana so if found guilty it would riled up the rest of the monetarist against the crown, if found innocents then it would make the sultana look weak as a result after all Lolorito indeed conspired behind the Crown's back
I think there's like official short story in ffxiv website about what happen in uldah after this one
You might hate Lolorito... but you can't deny, the man's got style... and balls of steel.
I really hope at some point Asmon gets to experience the Hildibrand quests.😊
Hope he wont skip the ishgard restoration questine, it gives many details of the aftermath following thordans and nidhoggs demise. Just because its tied to a crafting zone hope he would still stream and react to the questline, the questline really shows how ishgard and the high houses develops and gets better as a nation
He kinda has to get into crafting, I bet he'll do that eventually since he wants all mounts but I doubt it'll happen until after Shadowbringers.
did that quest last night surprised how good it was
One thing that FF14 does leaps and bounds better than WoW is make the story feel like a classic, offline RPG.
The one sentence my friend repeated over and over while I played Heavensward: "You will HATE the eye."
And every time I said that I did already, she was like "no, just wait for it"
(Lore wise of course, the fights due to it are fun xD)
