Katie Baily Well people do write about the aftermath of whatever ending they got, but since there's no official canon ending they kinda shot themselves in the foot.
I heard they plan to bring back Krystal for the next Star Fox. Since Star Fox Zero was basically a reboot, they thought it might be wise to write her in for the next game.
Yeah I have a very strong feeling Command was the reason why Miyamoto decided for Zero's story to be a retelling of 64. Personally I think it would've been better if Zero's plot was literally a direct sequel to StarFox 64, you know tell the events that happened after 64's story & before the events of Adventures, but I honestly didn't mind Zero's plot being a rehash of 64, considering I don't really care much about stories in StarFox games. It's kind of similar to how I don't care much about plots or character developent in Mario games, unless if it's an RPG.
For those of you who want to know about the endings, Let me explain them for you. Ending #1 "Fox and Krystal" Star Fox defeated the bad guys, Fox learns about the power of friendship and love bullshit, Star Fox then go to Aquas to meet with Amanda, (Slippy's fiancee) She joins Star Fox and went out on adventures together. While that's going on, Dash (Andross's grandson) plans to build a new empire on Venom. Ending #2 "Goodbye Fox" Members of the Star Fox voted to disband the team for some reason, Fox and Krystal make up with each other. Fox promises to Krystal that he'll spend his time with her and never fight again. For some reason... They had a son named Marcus, He became a fighter like his dad and really good pilot. In the future, Marcus formed a new Star Fox team. Him, Peppy's Granddaughter, Slippy's son and Falco as the next Peppy. Ending #3 "Emperor Anglar" Star Fox reunited again and the Lylat system is safe again. Despite this fact, Fox has bad feelings about... something. Then one day, Krystal tells Fox that "she can't do this anymore" and heads back to Star Wolf for Panther. Fox cries about it and begs her to stay. Krystal had no regrets about it and becomes an elite pilot. While Star Fox still whines about it to this day. Ending #4 "Star Wolf Returns" Star Wolf defeats the bad guys thanks to Krystal. People look at them as heroes. Except for Krystal. They keep treating her like a bitch and couldn't get over that she's abandoned Star Fox. Krystal ignores all of the negativity, But eventually she couldn't handle all of these crybabies and left Star Wolf and the Lylat system. She starts her life all over again and becomes Kurse (not Kursage Johnny) The bounty hunter. She meets Fox again during a job and Fox doesn't recognize her. Ending #5 "Lucy And Krystal" Krystal, Kitt, Amanda and Lucy (Peppy's daughter) defeated the bad guys and Star Fox helped out. Peppy and Lucy talk to each other and lost their wife/mother and remember all the good times. Fox and Krystal reunited with each other and promise to never break up and "allweys luv eeach otha 4ever and eva." Ending #6 "Dash makes a choice" Fox, Falco and Dash defeated the bad guys. Dash MADE a choice to stay at Venom. He turns Venom into a much better planet with Dash as the leader. Venom turned became a planet that's similar to Corneria because of the fact that it has cities, it's own society and blah blah blah. Dash makes a evil speech saying that Corneria is no longer that main planet of the Lylat System and goes to war. Like father, Like son. Ha ha ha. Ending #7 "Slippy Resolve" Slippy and Amanda saved the day and decided to get married DURING their victory. Slippy left Star Fox and raised a family. A huge family of him, Amanda and a lot of children. Slippy tells stories about his old days in Star Fox and kids loved it. When he became a old man, He wonders about his friends and what they're doing. Ending #8 "Pigma Revenge" Star Fox saved the day and Falco defeated Pigma by himself. Falco couldn't face the fact that he fucked up by facing an enemy by himself and not stick to the plan or the team. Falco left and just moped all day. One day, Kitt calls him and basically says: "Hey, Falco. Forget these guys and go make your own team. It will be OK." And he did. Falco formed Star Falco with him, Kitt and Dash (yes really) as the main members. They are rivals of Star Fox. Ending #9 "The Curse of Pigma" Star Wolf took Krystal and Fox was crying about it. Couldn't eat, Couldn't sleep and probably couldn't shit for days. Falco tried to help him out, But Fox still keeps CRAAAAAAAWWWWWWWLIING IIIIIIIINNNN MAH SKIIIIIIIIIIII- Falco then had an idea. Retire as pilots and turned their Arwings into F-ZERO RACING SHIPS. This somehow cheers Fox up and both became a great F-Zero racing team. Forgetting EVERYTHING they've done in Star Fox. That is all. Bye.
@@EightThreeEight the seventh one could be viable if A) All of Star Fox helped out, and B) they took the time to give Fox, Falco, and Peppy endings like that.

Oh, also don't take this post seriously, fellow commenters.
Seriously, even the aparoids from assault had more presence thanks to having their own gimmick with possessing tech and people, a homeworld that isn't just Venom again, no ties to Andross, and a unique design. The anglers, meanwhile, are completely indistinguishable from Andross' forces in 64 apart from being fish people with the occasional fish-shaped ship

UltimaKeyMaster Not as much of a fan of him as I used to be but I always loved that gag. It never made much sense to me why they'd randomly bold words like that in comics.
I dunno, it's like somebody read the crazy parts of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog (Issue #134? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ), and they thought to themselves; "Yes, YES! This is EXACTLY what we need!!!" . The terrible looking artwork for command doesn't help things either. Although that first image re-creating Starfox 1 looks quite nice, most of it looks like shite.
Krystal becomes a real Schroedinger's Fox in this game. Depending on the path you take, she could be in 3 situations, none of which could really be compatible. 1. Being the 4th member of Star Wolf. 2. Joining the Cornerian Army. 3. Hiding on Sauria for the whole story.

I really liked starfox command after suffering through the first 3 hours. Once i understood what to do, i loved the story with branching paths and endings
I have never played this game. But something about the story outcomes Johnny listed makes me unbearably happy inside. They're so corny and insane that I love it, and some, as other point out, seem to be pretty decent. I will be buying a copy ASAP lol. Anytime a game has an insane branching paths chart like that and the game looks competent, I'm down.
The game's very much an issue of having to play it in bursts. I ran the game to the ground trying to make every branching path, and I ended up boring myself to tears. Play it in bursts like an actual handheld game and it should be fine I think. Also, hi Shesez! Good work on the Boundary Break series.
It's always fun to go back to old youtube videos and see things that they swear will never happen become a reality. Star fox 2 was released on the SNES Mini. Thanks for all your stuff SomecallmeJohnny, I watch pretty much every episode of yours. been watching for many years now.
Let's just take a minute to appreciate the consistent quality and entertainment value of Johnny videos. He uploads great stuff regularly with minimal breaks. What a UA-cam champion.
I wish Nintendo would declare this game non-canon and try to pick up where they left off after Assault. Despite its short campaign the game had almost set up a universe with some potential. I imagine a sequel for the switch where Krystal gets more development and starts to fit in with the crew
There's no better feeling than waiting ALL WEEK for this upload (because it's a Johnny Vs. video, not because of the game), jumping to your subscription feed because you were bored and seeing that Johnny just uploaded a video 30 seconds ago... what a wonderful feeling :')
This is one of the two games I have for my 3DS along side street fighter IV 3D edition and honestly I like the game, beautiful scenery, cool enemy designs. The RTS esc part and the fact a single enemy hitting Rob being a mission failure were annoying but still fun. It’s the longest I’ve ever put into a star fox game since I’ve only played this and 64, both I like a lot but being able to take a star fox game anywhere puts this one at the top for me.
Johnny, whether you like the game or hate it, I'm glad you're making an unbiased review of Star Fox Zero. The game's not perfect, but I think the amount of unnecessary hate it gets is disgusting. But if you dislike it, I'm at least glad you'll actually give legit reasons unlike 80 percent of the internet. Seriously, hating motion controls for simply being motion controls is moronic. They're different, but not broken.
Something tells me he's going to go soft on StarFox Zero in his review. Granted he's not going to hold any punches on the game, considering the amounts of major issues the game has, but at the same time, I have a feeling the game's not going to push his limits like oh say Mario 2 Lost Levels, Shadow the Hedgehog & Ghosts & Goblins did to him.
Honestly the only bad things I can think of him talking about are the controls and having the story be like SF1 for the third time now, he would probably say that the game's at least decent.
***** The fuck? Dude that's not what I meant in the slightest...I don't give a shit if he ends up hating the game at the end. The only reason why I say that is considering how calm & very layed back John is when it comes to reviewing most games, even games that he tends to dislike, which really shows in his Mighty No. 9 review, I just have this slight feeling he won't be so rage inducing with Zero like he was with the other games I've mentioned earlier. I could be entirely wrong, who knows, only time will tell.
+Jonnathan Sosa It takes a special kind of bad design to really set John off, not to mention how much more chill he is now than he was back when he made those reviews where he raged a lot.
My brother and I played this game a lot growing up and one of the most memorable parts of it was the ending where dash (who’s like andross’s grandson I think) becomes the newly appointed leader of andross army and dash was a likable character from what I remember so I kinda thought there was some sequel potential from that but that’ll never happen
Do you think you'll review Kid Icarus: Uprising? They actually intended it at one point to be a Starfox game and it seems to have very similar controls (but FAR more fleshed out and a FAR better game period).
i would have loved Sakurai's take on Star Fox, I also would have loved Kamiyas take because he said he wanted to yet Platinum only helped Miyamoto on Zero.
***** The controls have a bit of a learning curve but you'll get better with practice. If you want to see what its like, look up Chuggaa's playthrough.
***** Yeah I think it's better overall than a good chunk of the Starfox games. I really love Assault a lot, its one of my favorite games: comparing Assault to Uprising is a bit unfair though due to the years of difference, but still. I think Uprising does extremely well as its own game.
If you're _just_ about to start playing Star Fox Zero, John, there's one thing you should know: Gyro controls are required for aiming. However, since you've played Splatoon with them, I don't think it will be _that_ big of a problem.
I can explain the multiple storyline thing actually. From what I understand, chronologically, this was supposed to be the finale for Star Fox. But rather than have one definitive ending, they went for multiple so players could basically choose how the series wraps up. I personally didn't mind the game that much, even if it was repetitive, if only for the off the wall shit that came in via the endings. I actually kinda liked the ending where Star Wolf replaces Star Fox as the hero team.
Starfox Command is the only game in the series I never experienced...but after what I've heard in this review, I think I'm not even gonna bother with this one.
i just don't get it. what is up with writers and suddenly portraying decent to good characters differently. shadow going from calmer darker sonic (who is already a cool character) who was willing to go through so much to achieve something as little as a promise he made to a friend to a gullible gun toting foul mouthed edgey the hedgey who thinks having friends is a liability and as such refuses to ask them about his past like what?!. and then we have samus who went from badass bounty hunter who can perfectly (possibly even better) convey human emotions through body language to a monologuing robot with daddy issues. and now this shit with crystal and fox.
Errox025 don't when I brought it I was a fool blinded my my star fox 64 love this game sucks if I want a real time strategy game with planes I would play advance wars but nope I wanted star fox not advance wars: but the game is like 4 bucks I could give it you just get it out of my site
I myself found Star Fox Zero to be an amazing game and addictive to the point where I always wanted to do a better score. I never had any problems with the controls, but I've seen many people having big issues while playing...maybe its because I always played games like Star Fox 64 and Kid Icarus Uprising, but I really hope you like it Johnny. Either way, can't wait for the review :)
So basically they assumed that people loved Star Fox 64 because of the quantity of endings, as opposed to the quality, and just decided to bring forth a bunch of bizarre "endings" in an effort to feel like it's a big, meaty game.
(game dev) "I know what we should do with this beloved franchise! scale back the graphics over a decade and stick it on a tiny screen with terrible controls! Genius!" ugh... *face palm*
This game tried to be Wing Commander instead of StarFox. It's a shame that they didn't focus more on the gameplay, they might just have pulled it off. Wing Commander and StarFox would mix well if it was done properly.
I look forward to that Day too. I really wish this damn game was another Star Fox Assault 2. Hell I would even vouch for Nintendo to just make an new game Without throwing some damn new gimmick into the mix! It doesn’t need a Gimmick to be good! It’s not innovative!
I want to talk about Dash personally. He's quite the missed potential. Because he's Andross' descendant, we could have him struggling with the knowledge of what his grandfather did, and perhaps have him want to restore honor to his family name, maybe have an interesting fight between him and Oikonny. But we don't get much development with him and he even ends up fighting against Corneria in one ending. I actually wouldn't mind seeing an ending where he realizes that family does not need to define you.
"This is most likely the closest we'll ever get to an official release of Star Fox 2"
Shame. Welp, I'mma go play my SNES Mini.
And Switch Online
Knowing myself, I'd be very quick to make everyone's gibberish sample a long fart I did into the mic.

Fox, you're not authorized to map your booster and barrel roll commands to any other buttons on the DS beside the touch screen
"Star Fox 2 may never see release." Look how far we've come
I was waiting for your run-down of the story and multiple endings more than anything else. And as you tend to do, you did not disappoint.
Isn't there an ending where Fox and Krystal end up together and having a kid?
yes. But the requirements in order to get that ending are annoying.
Yep
Giordan Diodato Oh......And that ending that forms the NEW Star Fox Team?
Yes there is.
The best part about that ending is that Falco takes the place of Peppy as mentor of that new team. I'd love to see how that works out.
"Fuck this fish!" - Johnny 2016
I wish Nintendo would declare this game non-canon and try to pick up where they left off after Assault. Despite its short campaign the game had almost set up a universe with some potential. I imagine a sequel for the switch where Krystal gets more development and starts to fit in with the crew
The ending where Fox and Falco forget about everything and become G-Zero racers gave me my first existential crisis as a 9 year old.
"Starfox Belch On Command"
*Every character burps*
Okay, my sides were blasted into orbit.
Star fox command story lines sounds like a bunch of fan-fiction shoved together depending on how you progress
"So I guess Peppy, Slippy, and Falco were expendable you furry fuckhead?!"
-I died, LOL!
Actually, by recording an "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA", you make the game sound like Banjo-Kazooie. And that's always a positive.
Best part of the game, according to Johnny? "AAAAAAAAAAAAAA-"
There's no better feeling than waiting ALL WEEK for this upload (because it's a Johnny Vs. video, not because of the game), jumping to your subscription feed because you were bored and seeing that Johnny just uploaded a video 30 seconds ago... what a wonderful feeling :')
Johnny, I dare you to have the characters talk with "TWIN BLASTUHS" as the voice sample.
Johnny, you are a genius. I never would have thought of using the custom voice to make the characters burping! 👏🏻😂
That "I'm 29" bit killed me upon delivery
this game is like a community fanfiction where everyone just kinda does their own story and then someone tries to piece everything together.
It's interesting to watch this after the official release of Starfox 2
"Star Fox 2 will likely never be released" that statement aged like milk.
Oh, I have played through to get every ending.
The eventual hand cramps were something else.
Gameplay wise, better than I thought, but what the fuck is with that story?
All Hail Star Fox. Heroes Rise Again.
Obliterating any semblance of story
They got the best that Fanfiction.net could offer
I have few fond memories of this game, but seeing the multiplayer mode brought back all kinds of nostalgia.
"You furry fuckhead!" is just hilarious.
I don't even care about half of the games you review but it's always interesting to see what you have to say about them!
Johnny why don't you use the 3DS stand that comes with uprising?
That peripheral doesn't really do much for me.
SomecallmeJohnny oh
It's a portable game system. Why should you need a flat, stable surface to use a stand to compensate for their shit control scheme?
Fuck that noise.
Wait, people had problems with Uprising's controls????? I never did. Practically mastered them halfway through the game.
Scarfking
You must have three hands, a prehensile tail or got a Circle Pad Pro.
I love how he just goes "I'm twenty nine". We love you Johnny, and no matter how old you are, you can always laugh at immature shit.
I've seen plenty of people talk about the problems of Zero without even mentioning the motion controls.
Whatever internet you've been visiting, I'd like a turn.
***** Comments from various review sites, twitter, youtube, etc.
Actually, people have already made a case of WHY those motion controls don't work.
VladNorris
They work just fine.
I remember 100%ing this game back in the day. I always enjoyed the music that plays during the missile chase sequences.
Honestly the only bad things I can think of him talking about are the controls and having the story be like SF1 for the third time now, he would probably say that the game's at least decent.
and sonic 06 and sonic boom and ecco the dolphin. also, he went soft on other m.
Megaman and bass-raged
Other m- both
Zelda 1-pulled punches
Zelda 2-both
Sonic genesis-rage
Saw-rage
Superman 64-rage
Budsy-pulled punches
Can you imagine the banter in a Star Fox game to be as funny as it is in Kid Icarus?
***** The controls have a bit of a learning curve but you'll get better with practice. If you want to see what its like, look up Chuggaa's playthrough.
***** Yeah I think it's better overall than a good chunk of the Starfox games. I really love Assault a lot, its one of my favorite games: comparing Assault to Uprising is a bit unfair though due to the years of difference, but still. I think Uprising does extremely well as its own game.
Uprising doesn't control well at all, what the fuck are you talking about?
I wish more Star Fox games let you pick who to play during a mission
Johnny, would love to hear your thoughts on the resident evil games in the future!
Great video this has been my favorite series so far
If they make another Star Fox game I hope it has different arwings, etc like this game did.
The "I'm 29" statement is simply amazing.
If you're _just_ about to start playing Star Fox Zero, John, there's one thing you should know: Gyro controls are required for aiming.
However, since you've played Splatoon with them, I don't think it will be _that_ big of a problem.
"I'm 29" as I laugh as a 29 year old 6 years after this video uploaded
1:23 Boy were you wrong!
Wait are you doing Star Fox Guard too ?
I think maybe he'll do it as a double review like some other games.
Kazuma Kiryu
Knowing Johnny, he'll at least look at it and briefly cover it at worst.
Super Snarflepuff Probably will be similar to Metroid Prime Pinball or Hunters.
***** I am aware
Kazuma Kiryu Star Fox guard more like five nights at foxy's
I can explain the multiple storyline thing actually. From what I understand, chronologically, this was supposed to be the finale for Star Fox. But rather than have one definitive ending, they went for multiple so players could basically choose how the series wraps up. I personally didn't mind the game that much, even if it was repetitive, if only for the off the wall shit that came in via the endings.
I actually kinda liked the ending where Star Wolf replaces Star Fox as the hero team.
It's okay Johnny. I'm 24 and I laughed at the "burping" dialogue with you :)
Starfox Command is the only game in the series I never experienced...but after what I've heard in this review, I think I'm not even gonna bother with this one.
*****
Basically, yeah.
A game with 95% touch screen controls and a "story" ressembling an episode of "Days Of Our Lives"? No thanks!
*****
"Days of Our Lives" is a Soap Opera on TV.
i just don't get it. what is up with writers and suddenly portraying decent to good characters differently.
shadow going from calmer darker sonic (who is already a cool character) who was willing to go through so much to achieve something as little as a promise he made to a friend to a gullible gun toting foul mouthed edgey the hedgey who thinks having friends is a liability
and as such refuses to ask them about his past like what?!.
and then we have samus who went from badass bounty hunter who can perfectly (possibly even better) convey human emotions through body language to a monologuing robot with daddy issues.
and now this shit with crystal and fox.
Errox025 don't when I brought it I was a fool blinded my my star fox 64 love this game sucks if I want a real time strategy game with planes I would play advance wars but nope I wanted star fox not advance wars: but the game is like 4 bucks I could give it you just get it out of my site
Now I'm getting that feeling after every marathon is near the end where I wonder "what is johnny gonna do now?"
I would love if they revisit the idea of multiple crazy different endings and story lines for future games
We need a HD remake of Star Fox Belch On Command.
So basically they assumed that people loved Star Fox 64 because of the quantity of endings, as opposed to the quality, and just decided to bring forth a bunch of bizarre "endings" in an effort to feel like it's a big, meaty game.
7:59
So it’s Star Fox game acting like the Archie Sonic Comics…
Thanks Johnny for the hard work
7:20 - sounds like a Rare 64 era platform game.
(game dev) "I know what we should do with this beloved franchise! scale back the graphics over a decade and stick it on a tiny screen with terrible controls! Genius!" ugh... *face palm*
I Command you to make a Star Fox joke
This comment was quite the adventure! I think I'll rank it as my 64th favorite I've read on UA-cam.
(Sorry...)
You two...
That was f*cking great!! Awesome timing! XDDDD
Angus McIntyre Thank you! ^^
Star Fox Zero.
That's the joke.
7:13 - 7:30 is the greatest Johnny moment in this channel's history! I'm fucking done, holy shit hahaha!
This game tried to be Wing Commander instead of StarFox. It's a shame that they didn't focus more on the gameplay, they might just have pulled it off. Wing Commander and StarFox would mix well if it was done properly.
See, this is why I want a Star Fox sequel that takes place after Assault but IGNORES Command.
I look forward to that Day too. I really wish this damn game was another Star Fox Assault 2. Hell I would even vouch for
Nintendo to just make an new game Without throwing some damn new gimmick into the mix! It doesn’t need a Gimmick to be good! It’s not innovative!
So Johnny are you gonna talk about Star Fox Guard at all?
That moment when I get more hyped to see SomeCallMeJohnny than I do with AVGN and Nostalgia Critic.
Johnny make Sonic Boom Fire and Ice review
I don't care about the game, i just wan't to see the review
Did that game already come out? I didn't even notice!
Yes it came out, and it's good
Johnny's gone on record to say that he'll do Fire and Ice, but only AFTER he's finished the Star Fox marathon. So cool your jets and wait.
Didn't that game get canceled?
I want to talk about Dash personally. He's quite the missed potential. Because he's Andross' descendant, we could have him struggling with the knowledge of what his grandfather did, and perhaps have him want to restore honor to his family name, maybe have an interesting fight between him and Oikonny. But we don't get much development with him and he even ends up fighting against Corneria in one ending. I actually wouldn't mind seeing an ending where he realizes that family does not need to define you.
Even as a kid when this came out the plot always felt like really, REALLY bad fanfiction.
"Star fox 2 will likely never be released"
Oh johnny you poor naive soul.
9:32 Star Simp
I love your whole Johnny vs. Playlist
Fun fact. You can use DS download play on the 3DS.
I wonder how Johnny will react to the fact Platinum Games worked on Star Fox Zero seeing that he likes their games that he has played...
