My immediate thought was "The show's writing is still an 11/10, it's just way too fast." And I stand by that. They just packed way too much into season 2. Arcane needed to be at least 3 seasons. The issue with the pacing being so breakneck is that nothing gets a chance to simmer like in season 1. Like holy damn did they let shit simmer in S1... Every single emotional beat hit like a truck, but in S2 all these moments felt like a flurry of tiny jabs that you didn't have a chance to even react to or even think about after before it shifted to the next plot point. I will say the only actual quality issue I have apart from the pacing would be the issue of Vander. I am totally down with the Vander/Warwick thing, but bro died like 4 times what are we doing here... They either should have made it impossible to bring Vander back, keeping him as Warwick OR, have a brief glimpse of him shine through the beast and have him sacrifice himself one last time to save the girls, having that story beat be the catalyst that brings Vi and Jinx back together. This would mirror his choice to BECOME the beast to save Vi in S1, this time chosing to become Vander again to save both of them. I think Riot's plan all along was to scattershot all the League stories into shows, hoping something would stick but I don't think they expected the very first one would stick so well lol... We all LOVE these characters, man. We're not ready to let them go just yet. I genuinely do not care about Demacia, Noxus, etc... not yet anyways. I have no problems with them setting allat up at all (after all, it was all there in season 1) but we needed more time with these characters and more time to introduce the others and allow some time for overlap; for a smooth transition between the storylines.
I think the problem with Arcane s2 wasn't too many cooks (writers?) in the kitchen (studio?) it was too many ingredients (ideas?) Tl;dring your point, lotta plots showed up and the writers didn't do much with them
It doesn’t get any better when you consider how whiny the co-creator and some of the writers have gotten with the criticism of the show, giving vague explanation for the low-quality writing and making excuses at everything’s fans question. It’s one thing to make your own decisions in regards of a show you have liberty control over, and defend those actions, and another to become defensive at every bit of criticism you receive as an author, that’s when you lost all my respect.
I think they did the best they could with the amount of time and money they had. I had the same feelings, I loved Season 2 but I wanted and craved more and was left with an empty hole that needed to be filled (no reference intended). I do disagree with your point that they just needed to trim the fat, which although yes that could've helped, there should have been more episodes and more seasons but with the amount of money, quality writers, perfect animators for the Show, I felt Season 2 was nearly perfect, but people like to point out the negatives as the highlights of the Season although the positives of it truly make up for it. Nevertheless, I do like the fact that the Writers don't like to Spoon-feed everything to the viewers and made the show more of a thought type show and a open endedness to it to show the deep moral complexity with all the characters. I might just be biased because I love how they wrote Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn and Ekko. But yes there should have been more but money is the bane of everybody's troubles unless you want the writers and animators to go work at MAPPA style conditions. 🤷♂ I love the show, I do agree Season 1 is better but I think that Sesason 2 touched on the points that needed to be touched and the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I think that in most cases people like to try to nitpick the negatives of the show if the show is critically received a lot better than a lot of others, and vice versa. But I don't know. Yes this show could've trimmed the fat, yes there should've gone more into other stuff, but I still think that with what they had they did pretty well with it.

Most of the ideas they had weren't actually bad in themselves, you can see what they were shooting for but there wasn't enough time to actually tell those stories. I can't bring myself to rate it as highly as you did though because the last episode and a half ruined it for me so bad. Also: "I am the dirt under your nails" ummmmmm the implications of a Zaunite saying that to a Piltovian 😬😬😬😬😬
Loved it even though they threw half of into a dumpster fire? It will not be remembered quite simply because of just how many somersaults of plain ass bullshit they threw up on the screen. They had a great setup for a story, they had great characters, they could've expanded on them, but chose not to. Riot (or Netflix or a producer- I don't care) basically just said, "yeah we could probably cut down the writing team to just like a handful of idiots and still make it good," when clearly the show was underwritten as hell.
