Stoked that you reacted to this. They're actually just tributing Run DMC - esp. JamMaster Jay who was killed not long before this event - by covering one of the most famous Run DMC jams. The original was actually split up between two rappers and the Beastie Boys masterfully broke that parts up into three. It was great to see the old heads totally into it [you can see DMC, KRS-One, Flavor Flav, etc., in the balcony] and Dougie Fresh come out at the end.
There's no better generations to be part of really as Music goes...OK the 60s supposedly but I was born in the 70s & from the age of 2....I've basically lived with record players vinyl ,cassette tapes, video VHS, CD's Mini Discs,DAT...upto what downloading to ITunes/spotify....all the while music from late 60s to 2000s just been unreal to witness & be fortunate enough to experience & still troff & delve deeply.
Fantastic energy on that stage, in that room. One of those rare moments where the stars align and something great suddenly happens. Lucky people who witnessed this first hand.
@@a7n7t7o7n7y Let me preface by saying that I'm in my mid 40's, so I may not be the most up to date on slang, but I take "murdered it" to be like when a comedian "kills it" on stage, that's when they just were so good, they blew the crowd away. I was curious and looked in the urban dictionary, and "murdered it" actually has multiple meanings. Both what you thought, and what I thought are correct. Sorry to get all nerdy with you.
BEASTIE BOYS are HIP HOP LEGENDS these 3 Guy's were not far behind the Hip Hop pioneers like GRANDMASTER FLASH AFRIKA BAMBAATAA, DJ COOL HERC...& of course last but not least the GREAT, GIL SCOT HERON. BEASTIE BOYS been rockin together since 1978. There music is just sublime in every way shape or form. Covering RUN-DMC track here...they were probably doing each others songs during there times together Touring WORLD-WIDE DEF JAM TOURS back in the early 80s. Class ;)).....Jam Master Jay & Adam Yauch RIP XX
Them paying tribute to the group that was everything to them, Run-DMC. I love this so much!!! RIP MCA, RIP Jam Master Jay. This is the very first song on my road trip playlist. They are both everything to me.
One of my all-time favorite live performances. This is the Beasties paying tribute to the legendary Run DMC and it's amazing on fire. I love both versions, but I like how the beasties knew how to split verses between 3 emcees instead of 2 and make it seamless. Then you add Dougie Fresh. Come on! 😅And how 'bout that DJ?!
Question for all the heads in here: can you name another 3 man rap group that all 3 mcs interweave bars like the beasties? Among many other factors that make Bboys great, this might be an overlooked aspect.....

My favourite part is seeing KRSONEs look of complete joy.......You should listen to Squat. De la soul with Adam and Mike.....
I'm so glad I saw Run DMC and The Beastie Boys In 85 or 86. Sometimes it's great being old. Haha
Yes! Saw PE in their prime and Ice T in '88. Along with Beasties a couple of times
Nothing wrong with that

Thought murdering a track meant doing a poor job 🤔

Agreed. I reckon if Teez reacted to B-Movie by Gil Scott Heron his head would explode haha
The Beastie boys didn't get approval from all the hip hop greats, the Beastie boys gave the approval to most of them
What a performance. I love Run DMC too, so I just love how Beastie's were good mates with Run DMC.
Beautiful, man. Love.
So whatcha want live on Arsenio Hall is another great live that no ones reacted to yet! It features verses by DJ Hurricane and Cypress Hill

Cheers to jay, mca, and to all fallen. Also any track from their live show in glasgow.
I just came back to watch this again and they absolutely crushed this.
The beasties took Public Enemy on their first tour with them.
And Murphy's Law as well. Seen that tour in Philly.
Haha. I love that one. Thanks bro
Only studio version is by Run Dmc
Read up on them. Watch the documentaries. Originators! They put Public Enemy on as well as countless other artists. One of the greatest.
🔥 🔥🔥
I like how they keep cutting to black guys nodding in approval.
Was this the Jam Master J tribute show they held in Vegas? If so, I was there! Fuzzy memory.
It was from the Hip Hop Honors on VH1.
You gotta react to beastie boys triple trouble vid , Sasquatch is real !...lol...it’s a great vid !
The whole red carpet thing is everything in that video. Cameos of John Legend and Kanye at the end is priceless.
They were spitting 🔥 👌 😳
Better check out KRS 1.
I just realized you have no Smiths. "How Soon Is Now" is an absolute banger.
Just did a Teez. Wrote this last night and forgot to click "comment," lol
Miss the old days of hip-hop
