Disposable Heroes is an anthem. Metallica at their most dangerous. The song is a masterclass of thrash perfection and the key changes you felt in the solo were wonderful to see you experience. It's hard to take this music in at first listen and we are all enjoying your journey with Metallica. They truly deserve the fame they have earned.
What's the most beautiful thing in Kirk's solo is there no exaggeration in solo. He plays the way the best and that best lies in the song. Not too many tones to show his knowledge, but only to amplify the whole song.
I was in the army then and this song affected me a lot. I started doing coke and weed and ended up in ccf for busting a piss test. I just kept looking around my friends and saying strange things like "we have been brainwashed since we were children to kill an imaginary enemy". So they ets'ed my three months early and gave me a plane ticket home. Three months later, I watched the invasion of Kuwait and thanked luck that I was so ate up. Shout out to the 423'd medical batallion. I love you guys.
i am sorry this country has failed you but thank you so much for your service. we the people should have done better for our brothers and sisters in uniform
I had a coworker who served in the marines, he never really opened up about his overseas tours. He was a bit lost when he came back and tried to integrate into "normal" life. I had him over for a few after a work happy hour and played this for him. Shared a good hug and shed a tear or two. A masterwork of intensity, emotion, and message.
There's too many songs off the first 4 or 5 Metallica albums that could be anyone's favorite at any given time, This one however goes full speed for 8 minutes straight and has one of the greatest solo's ever, It's just on another level.
When I first heard Metallica. I was hypnotize and I am still to this day 35yrs later. I can honestly say the Master of Puppets album is metal royalty. Legendary!!! Fn out of this world!
I've been listening to this album for 36 years. I still get goosebumps, my dude. What I want to know is HOW IN THE HELL can reactors hear something like this and not immediately listen to everything they can find? That's what started my Metal journey and I couldn't get enough. Keep in mind... For me, it was pre-internet. We had to borrow or buy everything that we wanted to hear. Most radio didn't play heavy metal and MTV was hit and miss.
Well because if they listen to everything they can find without getting a patreon request or money donated first, they can’t claim it’s their first reaction 🤷♂️ just being honest either that or they do and lie faking their “first” time reaction to a song
They never played it live when they were in their prime-at least, not after Cliff passed.I therefore have to disagree.. Live, Lars can’t keep up the double kick drums, Kirk is sloppy as hell, and James can’t maintain the whirling chainsaw of razor-wire vocals, as he could on the record, or he could back in 1986.
@@riphopfer5816maybe do some research before putting bold claims like that. They debuted this song in 85’ when Cliff was still alive. Look it up, the live version is here on youtube. I also added the youtube link. They most likely played other times afterwards before Cliff died.
Apparently he's slightly embarrassed by his higher register, but James' voice during the 80s was magic. He's really great now, too, at 60 but there's nothing like his early singing/screaming.
One of the best albums ever! I heard this in ‘86 when I was 12 and absolutely love their first 4 albums. Still put on the best live shows, and I first saw one in ‘91. Legends.
Dad introduced me to Metallica when I was 4 years old and I think he had the same reaction I have watching these reactions videos. Seeing someone experience something you hold dear is an amazing feeling. I've listened to every single song Metallica has put out and Disposable Hero's is the greatest Thrash song they produced. The slow draw of the opening, modulation with tempo that pulls you in and the ending where you have no idea if they're going to keep going or stop playing. It's a 10/10 song, glad you enjoyed it man!
I remember listening to metallica as a kid and having these moment of realizing what they were actually saying in their songs. now, older, these reaction vids let me marvel at and appreciate how damn good the music really was and is.
Look how far you've come, the albums on your wall alone have tripled! It's wonderful to see your musical taste flourish before our eyes this way. Sorry for getting all sappy but it really is beautiful to see you and your collection grow in real time. I wish you, your chick and your channel all the success and happiness y'all can stand
Imagine taking this album home for the first time and listening to it song by song thinking with each one that it was the best song on the album and then getting to this as the last song in the album- the entire album is an absolute masterpiece!
Been waiting for this one - love it. Thanks. The live performance every Metallica fan will want you to do is 'Metalica Battery live in Seattle 89' - absolutely vicious. James sings like he just had a handful of gravel just thrown down his throat - and I'm here for it - music made by men for men.
Since I was 18yrs old I've been into Metallica. Disposable Heroes has ALWAYS been my most favorite track. I went to Monsters Of Rock in Buffalo NY in 1990. Metallica performed & they were very brand new!!🔴
Banger!!! I love watching u hear it for the first time. I know what’s coming and u don’t disappoint. U pick up many of the intricate things. Whole album suggestion would be Queesryche. Before Jason Newstead their bassist was Cliff Burton who died when the band had a bus wreck while on a tour in Germany. His last recorded album was And Justice for All. So the Black Album was the start of a new era for the band.
Hope your channel keeps growing. I love these reactions - you make the same face I made about 20 years ago when my dad introduced me to this music. Watching someone else hear it and enjoy it is awesome
bro i love your videos, since i don't have many fans around me, i definitely feel connected to how genuine you are! if you want to push further, they did a live with a symphonic orchestra, it's mind blowing...
This song basically represents the crosses on the album cover. The amount of soldiers that were used to the point they were pretty much disposable. “21, only son, but he served us well. Bred to kill, not to care, do just as we say. Finished here, greetings Death, he’s yours to take away”. No retreat: “you will do as I say when I say - (get) back to the front” “You will die when I say you must die - (get) back to the front” “You coward, you servant, you blind man”
Come on Metallica fans, let's all get together and get Mollyboy to react to Disposable from metal hammer fest 85, it's a moment in Metallica history that he has to experience.
On a trivial side-note, the main intro guitar riff, is taken from a US television show called Hogan’s Heroes from the 1960’s. Quite sure one can find it here on UA-cam.

Agree with you. This is what I consider Metal.
Im a 90s Marine and feel this song, especially now knowing what i know. Metallica knew before we knew, (for those who now know).

Hottest Metallica song ever!! It melted my face in 86 and always will.🤘😝🤘
And Battery
I give this a thumbs up 👍, even before I've watched your reaction. I know you are gonna love this epic song. It's even better live 😊.

There is NO MUSIC like this today!! Metallica just killed it!! Every Song back then was Fantastic!!
Best Metal album of all time. I got to see them play this once in the pit. It was crazy. I’ve seen the 16 times. Always in the pit. 🤘

I agree tho I didn’t know he didn’t like his earlier high voice. It’s sublime is it what it is.
This is the greatest Metallica track ever. The one that grows on you like no other and eventually becomes your all time favorite
Prisoner of the moment.
Definitely their best song. No debate
I’m an old lady and was never big on heavy metal but Metallica has a special spot in my heart. 💜👵🏼✌🏼

I still can’t believe that Hetfield can downpick that fast while singing. It’s unreal.
I'm going to be shallow and pedantic, but this song doesn't have downpicking
@@AB-gb1om The intro is downpicked
@AB-gb1om it switches between down picking and uppicking throughout the song

one of the greats, one of the greatest greats!
Kirk's solos are an incredible work of art, I always feel something new in these solos,I always catch a new part that I think I've missed ❤❤❤❤❤
