Steam locomotives and boats (not just steamboats) as well as diesel locomotives are some of the few human-made machines that sound like they have a soul. If you didn’t know better, you’d probably think they are alive, and not just based on the sounds they make but also the incredible amount of heat they give off.
They need to breathe, eat, and drink water. They move, are warm to the touch, and their roar is heard for miles. They pant when they work hard, and breathe easy when the gradient is with them. That all sounds like stuff that lives to me.

I love hearing that huff chuff huff chuff, The chug chug chug chug, Or the chuga luga chuga luga, of the old ones. To be mesmerized by the pistons and all of the mechanical workings of a steam locomotive.
@MPT_Productions I've always liked steam trains more to the point steam engines. I've always been fasinated by them. but I know that there just basically a gaint steam kettle on wheels but to me the inner workings is what really gets me.

I'd say a good percentage of the states in the US have at least one operating steam locomotive. You can probably find one in your region if you look one up online
