But if you want this mod to also work with IJV you have to get M24M02-A125 (links in description). But interesting thing to note -- if Alex here can make Reborn firmware copatible with DR chip, without knowing coding and being familiar with the code, that means IJV team can also make their firmware compatible with this chip. I don't think that I'll be able to fiddle with such tiny components one more time, using only a cheap plastic magnifying lens and a soldering gun (the classic transformer type with copper wire tip).

You can do this job with a solder iron from dollar store, the not classic but cheap small chinese type. I think you need solder iron and jewels mask, in total that will be around $5 shipped. You just gave me idea for video. Basic tools! I'll do a video about sound mod. No problem.
Dear Alex, I have a soldering iron with usb charge but the tip is stubbornly solder repellent, stays dirty whatever I do that is why I took the soldering gun instead. Of course I used flux but not the paste or liquid type but the solid one from pine sapp. Thank you for meeting my demands regarding the videos, I will surely follow your updates!
Hello Codernov: I accidently (when I took apart my K6, pulled the red/black speaker wires from the motherboard where it was soldered together. Would I use "Tin Lead Rosin Core" 0.8mm soldering wire to reconnect it?
Solder back with whatever solder you have, apply some flux so solder flows. It happens all the time, you disassemble the radio and wires tend to come off themselves, sometimes.
So what you do first is back up your calibration & config using k5prog-win. Then you install telegram messanger, and go to this link. t.me/uvk5_spectrum_talk/51068/58488 It will open up the link in telegram messenger and you will see the file. You right click it, and save it as to your desktop. What you probably did is just click it, and that way it would save it to your downloads folder, that's why you lost. But be sure to back up your calibration & config!
Hi, i see all your videos but I am a bit confused, can you confirm wich one chip is the best to buY ( to flash these modified firmwares) the M24M02-DRMN6TP or the M24M02-DWMN3TP/K, or the 24M02RD K315K? (this is the last one that you install in your last video) Thank you very much again!
After you swap it out you should press PTT and turn on your radio, and put new firmware on. Any will work. However, only few take full advantage of it. Reborn WFM SI SSB for example.
@@codernovThat's what I intend to install once I have fitted the HF board or can I try it before?. Is a blank screen normal after swapping the EPROM? I tried loading the calibration files and 1of11 firmware, they loaded ok but still no screen ?
Holding down a key while turning it on brings up the display 'release all keys' so the screen works at least - I'll load the reborn firmware and do the EPROM clear, see if that helps. I'll head over to Telegram - Thanks and great videos!

Rose's metal is the one I use, but there are others. If you go to eBay and look for "rose's metal" you will find it. It's 98C, 50% Bi 25% Pb 25% Sn. On amazon look for low melt. Also DigiKey, Farnell, Mouser, and don't forget your local electronics supply store. I pay $3.50 for 100 grams here.
I have followed your instructions on installing the Fagci Firmware and all seems to work. Exept when i go to the SI47XX menu i can listen in monitor mode on the FM and AM bands, but as soon as i go to the LSB and USB bands, its impossible to open up the squelch to listen in . i haven't found any information how to change this . Could you tell me how this works on the SSB bands?
That's because I haven't provided you with instructions for SSB. After you install firmware, you have to apply patch. You connect radio via cable in regular mode with radio just on, and you go here codepen.io/fagcinsk/pen/PogrKrq , and click Connect and then click Apply SSB Patch. After it's done, you disconnect cable and reboot radio. Then your SSB will work.

Press and hold 7 key and turn on radio. After 0xFFing done, turn off radio. Press and hold EXIT key and turn on radio. After everything is done, turn off radio. Turn radio back on. Go to that link and apply the patch. Turn radio off. Turn radio on. Short press M key and select Si47xx. You will enter FM mode. Click 0 key to go into AM mode. In AM mode there will be sound, static. Hit 0 key one more time and you will enter SSB mode, there will be sound, static. Now you hit the F key for LSB or USB. For this to work you need to have both Si4732 and larger EEPROM. Try it one more time, retrace your steps.
@@codernov About 2 weeks ago, i had the firmware working on SSB, without the Patch. But the performance was worse compared to the CEC 0.5 firmware. So I flashed back to CEC without performing the "uninstall" procedure. Now since the patch is available, I followed your instructions again and also did the patch. Exactly like you discribe the steps above. Perhaps I need to do the uninstall procedure aswell before starting over?
Right now to use LSB & USB in Reborn, you need larger EEPROM. Patch does not fit onto stock 8 kbyte EEPROM. You could go with CEC for that, but it is cut up so that SSB fits. So to use Si4732 and still have fully functional radio you need Reborn and you need larger EEPROM -- which is no problem, $1.62 for 2 chips. Like I said, it's not about number of channels.
Correction! We found a problem. The chip you need is M24M02-DWMN3TP/K. I included whole bunch of links to the correct chip in video description. The chip you asked about with K436K marking is the wrong one, IJV won't work and Reborn will be buggy with it.

Don't be confused, M24M02 search on ali, and first thing that comes up, you but that one.

More channels is not really interesting. What would be interesting (for me) is more letters for channel names.
