You need to, I drive by feel and listening, at 68yrs old I was lucky to drive alot of fun cars that today are called Muscle cars, back then they were just Hi -Performance cars 🚗!!! 2022
I grew up not far from Motion Performance & used to drive there often , dreaming of one day having my car worked on at the shop... brings back such fond memories of my youth .
Yeah, that's an 11 second car, but glad they went easy on it. Love the image of it at the strip with the wide wrinkle walls and tunnel ram hood. Takes me back to the cars we built and raced in the middle 70s, cars that were thrashed to death and now worth 100 times what we paid for them.
It definitely was as Motion built the car back in 1969 but based on the idle sound and the dyno HP numbers given this engine is WAY milder than how it would have been delivered by Motion. Guessing less compression and much smaller cam.
Rubbed me the wrong way seeing the tach set at 3k, bet the 10 yr old gas is still in the secondaries Those blocks, cranks are ultra strong an occasional rip to 5k wont hurt a thing
@@danmyers9372 Cam was still loping at 2k its not small. GM made lots of solid cam grinds that could still use power brakes. They were big but gentler valve timing so its more driveable
My 72 vette was owned by a friend from Ottawa Camille Wana who was the second owner back in 78 and immediately bought an LS-7 an M-22 and a 4.56 rear!! it was the fastest car in the Ottawa area!!!
I rode in a 67 Chevrolet Camaro 454 it was fast plain and simple when you are in the city it does not feel comfortable the second you hit the highway its roars to life and pushes you into the seat
12:5-1 big port open chamber head, big rod, tuftrided crank, high nickel block and came with a notice for 4 spd only, no automatic use. I had 3 of these beasts in the crate, marked off-road use only, XCH "experimental Chevrolet" and yes, in a Camaro body you had to tie the subframes or it twisted more than a belly dancer =) The first one we fired on avgas for breakin' and the headers glowed white hot like the Chevy Power Book cover with Smoky Yunick running some NASCAR beast! Ah, those were the days...
But that was 73 when the LS7 crate engine came out, think it was about $1700. By the mid 80's it was around $24-2500. But this car apparently was built in 1970 so not sure what they used for cam, I guess the L88, or where the LS7 designation came from as only one 1970 test LS7 Corvette had been built and the engine in that car was nothing like this one or the crate engine that was to follow.
@@thud9797 I think the castings on my crate motors were late 1971 or 72, can't recall now but regardless, I can't speculate on this Camaro build or the motor provenance.
Leave it to GM for the lack of an original code # when naming the modern day LS derivative, the LS7. Since they already had used the LS7 moniker on this power plant, you’d think 🤔, how hard could it be to come up with an original code name back in 2004. So now when you tell people there’s an LS7 under the hood, most will figure it was updated with a modern LS. There didn’t need to be any confusion.
@@ronmiller1162 you completely missed my point, i’m not talking about visually looking at the engines or the acoustic sound each powered plant gives off, I am talking about GM using the same code name for both engines when (I agree) they are completely (except cyl. count) different.
@@ronmiller1162 However, the modern day LS7 is by far the most superior, naturally aspirated V8 engine GM has made to date, as it should be, since it’s @35yrs new than the old LS7. Shame on GM for code naming each engine the same.
@@rickstout2458, exactly! Their biggest code naming gaffe was when they named the C5 Z06’s engine “LS6”, stealing the code name from, well, I’m pretty sure I don’t need to tell you what grand daddy big block.
I still have some of the magazines Hot Cars and Super Street Cars from the long forgotten Engledrum Publishing that carried ads for Baldwin. There was one for a 1970 Pase 3 Camero. The advertisement said guaranteed to run 11:00 or better with an asterisk saying "With our driver and a sanctioned drag strip."
Wow! "Traction Action ", traction bars...a blast from the past. In it's vintage green with the side stripes, it looked just like mine. All that's left of it 38 years later are the door panels and the back seat. 😥

One amazing Camaro, but I also liked the GT4 menu music playing in the background! 🤘😎
Bro the GT4 music is why I subscribe
I rode in a 67 Chevrolet Camaro 454 it was fast plain and simple when you are in the city it does not feel comfortable the second you hit the highway its roars to life and pushes you into the seat
Next up that Shelby?
Nice to see Tom and Dad at Cayuga.
Great show- keep them coming!
Awesome video!!
Gary is the New-Age Tom! Love it!
Great video, always enjoyed Dream Car Garage >> love the comedy between Tom and your dad , they always made me laugh . R.I.P. Tom
Used to watch LMC in UK, think it was on Discovery. Glad you will have new content each week.
On discovery and Men and motors also Barret Jackson
12:5-1 big port open chamber head, big rod, tuftrided crank, high nickel block and came with a notice for 4 spd only, no automatic use. I had 3 of these beasts in the crate, marked off-road use only, XCH "experimental Chevrolet" and yes, in a Camaro body you had to tie the subframes or it twisted more than a belly dancer =) The first one we fired on avgas for breakin' and the headers glowed white hot like the Chevy Power Book cover with Smoky Yunick running some NASCAR beast! Ah, those were the days...
Chele, what was the price tag on those puppies?
But that was 73 when the LS7 crate engine came out, think it was about $1700. By the mid 80's it was around $24-2500.
But this car apparently was built in 1970 so not sure what they used for cam, I guess the L88, or where the LS7 designation came from as only one 1970 test LS7 Corvette had been built and the engine in that car was nothing like this one or the crate engine that was to follow.
@@rickstout2458 I paid only $3500 each on 4 of em in the mid 1980s!
@@thud9797 I think the castings on my crate motors were late 1971 or 72, can't recall now but regardless, I can't speculate on this Camaro build or the motor provenance.
Lucky kid, nice too see he knows he’s lucky.
Thanks Roger, Very lucky, just trying to work hard and take it all in!
Can you imagine growing up around all those and getting to drive them?
Do you need a car like this ? No .......... Do you want a car like this ? Oh my yes ! 😎♥️. ...... I miss hearing that comment every weekend 😎♥️
The smile on your face says it all
Never mind L88s, Zls, this has to be the Holy Grail of GM muscle cars .Wow...
Glad you are keeping Tom’s ending to every show. Nice 👌🏽
There didn’t need to be any confusion.
anyone that knows engines would not be confused between the two powerplants
@@ronmiller1162 you completely missed my point, i’m not talking about visually looking at the engines or the acoustic sound each powered plant gives off, I am talking about GM using the same code name for both engines when (I agree) they are completely (except cyl. count) different.
@@ronmiller1162 However, the modern day LS7 is by far the most superior, naturally aspirated V8 engine GM has made to date, as it should be, since it’s @35yrs new than the old LS7. Shame on GM for code naming each engine the same.
How many times did GM re-use the LT1 engine designation? I mean jeez.
@@rickstout2458, exactly!
Their biggest code naming gaffe was when they named the C5 Z06’s engine “LS6”, stealing the code name from, well, I’m pretty sure I don’t need to tell you what grand daddy big block.
I would be scared to drive it. Not because of the power, but because of the value!!!
Get classic car insurance. Be choose when/where you drive and get your $ worth otherwise its a useless dust collector!
That sounds like the music from Gran Turismo when you shop for cars!
Beautiful car
You're right!
Your awesome and great review!!👏👏😎
Wow! "Traction Action ", traction bars...a blast from the past. In it's vintage green with the side stripes, it looked just like mine. All that's left of it 38 years later are the door panels and the back seat. 😥
When you said it's a sleeper, i had to laugh. Any car that says Baldwin Motion, SS, or 454 on it is definitely NOT a sleeper.
True but to most on the road its just another 69 Camaro
That thing sounds incredible
Dam you have the coolest job in the world! I've never even heard about this Camaro .
You have the choicest cars.
Hey Gary, another great video on a great car. The ‘69 Camaro is such an iconic year, never mind it’s a Baldwin Motion car. I’ve been out to your shop/showroom/museum a few times and loved all the rare cars there over the years. I keep buying lottery tickets because one day I will drop by and take home one of Peter’s Boss ‘9s.
Thanks for the support Ron! hope to see you once we're back to normal!
@@legendarymotorcar Can't wait Gary. I enjoyed every one of the Legendary Motorcar episodes with you and your dad, Peter. I think the season pass is still on my DVR, LOL. Also the show where he was one of the appraisers of classic cars about to go across the auction block. I'm glad I stumbled across your UA-cam channel. Subscribed!
I miss Dream Car Garage, Rest Peacefully Tom.
Holy Shit! Somebody finally mentioned a Baldwin Motion car. Everyone seems preoccupied with Yenko, Yenko, Yenko. When I was a kid Baldwin Motion ads were in all the go fast mags. Yenko cars were pretty tame compared to Motion's Phase III cars.
Agree...they are all cool but so many Yenko clones, kinda ruins the fun.
Course so many are afraid to drive them (wth is that!), 3000rpm redline such as this car. Guys act like the slightest thing will blow them sky high.
Paranoid!
These guys are a wealth of knowledge with top notch restorations but anyone else think the grill SS emblem is upsidedown?
When I am reincarnated I want to come back as a brown recluse spider and live in a Holley carburetor.🤪
You could live fporever in the secondaries cause they can go more than 10 yrs without being used.
Awesome & well done ride!!
Thank you for showing us
This music is from Grand Turismo! I love it!
Nice Gran Turismo music. 😎👍
@ 5:38 looks like a green 69 camaro goes opposite way past him on the road lol
I never knew how much I missed Tom Hnatiw til I just saw him.
You knew him?
IN 1973 MY FRIEND SENT HIS BRAND NEW Z/28 TO MOTION PERFORMANCE AND THEY DROPPED A 454 IN IT THAT WAS AROUND 750hp WITH THE TUNNEL RAM AND DUEL QUADS .... CAR ALSO HAD A HONE OVERDRIVE ...
WHEN HE WAS DONE IT WAS OVER 13,000.00 IN THE CAR WHICH INCLUDED THE INITIAL COST OF $4,500.00 FOR THE Z/28 ...
As good as it gets
It looked so much better in the original black.
That was really cool!😎
very cool acquisition. My only complaint is seeing an MSD box under the dash. Wasnt even invented when Baldwin got a hold of them.
I get why it was installed, cleans up the idle and shouldnt foul any plugs
