  • Our Intex Above Ground almost had totally green pool water! We needed QUICK POOL ALGAE recovery!
    Our worst nightmare was happening to us. We never thought it would get us because we are so meticulous with the care of our Intex Saltwater pool. Our pool was on it's way to turning green fast.
    Watch, as you will see, how algae started growing in the bottom of our pool. We checked our salt levels as well as used our pool test strips and there wasn't anything standing out.
    You will see a few things we did to fix this problem as fast as we could to turn our going green pool water to clear. We hope this will help others avoid a pool that is turning green too! It is a scarey situation to see this happening and we want to help!

    To my pool community, we are proof that even those who vacuum once or twice a week and continuously run the pump and saltwater system, as well as keep a close eye daily to make sure everything is properly balanced... can fall victim to Algae and water that starts to turn yellowish green FAST.
    I hope you can learn something from this video that may help you!

      Mover and Shaker remember the video when you saw a stream of what you and others thought was sand from the filter in one of your videos? I had that happen to my pool right before the same water problems you had, my son was service manager for large retail pool store and said what I saw come out of my filter was “dead algae!” I have place a tube sock over my outlet and I have had nothing in my pool since I Flocked it.

      Well that is very interesting and yet I can't imagine a sock on there. I understand this logic though it makes perfect sense. Thank you.

      Mover and Shaker my pool has stayed as cleaned as the day we filled it since I put the tube sock on the outlet and put a skimmer sock from Amazon on the skimmer.

    looks like it became clear after the clarifier moreso than the shock. Good job and thanks for these tips. I hope this doesn't happen again

    I had to use a flocculant, thanks to my son who worked in the Swimming pool industry for years, my pool was clear after vacuuming several times. Do Not VACUUM on anything other than WASTE WATER when there is a algae problem. My sons says the less chemicals the better when having issues. I run my pump on filter 24/7, and the algae was dead that shot back into my pool making it cloudy.

    I’m curious as to why you didn’t use “boost?” Just set up my saltwater index yesterday and have many questions but thought that the advantage was to not use chemicals 🤷🏻‍♂️

      You still have to have your water balanced with chemicals before you ever boost. Once your water is reading good on all levels you boost then your good.

    My biggest nightmare . I'm now dreaming of a camping trip..
    And the pool....
    I'm do glad your pool cleared. Why didn't you boost?

      Turns out we needed to add a few extra things in order to get the water balanced back out. I think it was a flocculant issue. It looked like little pieces of toilet paper floating around except it wasn't lol

    Is there a video on how to use and run the salt water system

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому +1

      Yes here it is. ua-cam.com/video/yU6TMbsclco/v-deo.html - We also have a 30 day review and how to do manual maintenance. We have been elated with ours and would never ever go back! The start up manual is confusing. In the very beginning only you will have to run that saltwater system for whatever your normal operating time is x 8. Once that is done. You are only going to run it daily with your pump. Good Luck.

    Mine did the same thing 2 weeks ago. After over $200 of chemicals and 5 backwashes a pool pro told me to drain and start over. Made me sick to have to do that but I felt like I was out of options.

      Oh terrible, I am sorry you went through that. Was your pump working good? I had a suggestion this evening that the pump could be circulating the algae right back into this pool so when there is algae place a sock over the inlet so algae debris does not get back into the pool while you are treating it. I thought that was interesting. Was your pool a saltwater pool?

    Did you use the clarifier at the same time as the shock or did you wait a certain amount of time? Dealing with a similar situation right now- thanks!

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  Рік тому

      We waited a certain amount of time. We just followed the instructions on the each.

    I might have to try a clarifier when my pool is cloudy, I have another question, my skimmer keeps slipping up and pops out of the water, I can’t seem to keep it in place. I took it out completely because I didn’t trust it anymore when I wasn’t watching it. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому +1

      Our skimmer has never popped out the only thing I know for sure is the white basket always needs to stay underwater so that the light blue inner basket floats up. Now anytime you drain water out of your pool like when you're back washing or if it rains in water is added to your pool your skimmer needs to be adjusted along with that up or down only when the change is significant of course perhaps you haven't adjusted it as water has left the pool or been added to the pool. I believe the white basket should be at least an inch to an inch and a half under the water level

      Mover and Shaker thank you for the tips, I will check on that again making sure white basket is submerged. The problem did start after a heavy rain shower, so it makes sense 😊

    Did you guys vacuum with the pump on waste?

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому

      no, we did not need to because we were proactive fast enough to be able to filter it out after vacuuming.

    Did you have to vacuum out the dead algae?
