Thank you so much for your video. Within 1 hour, my pool got cleared with the 2 bags of shock . I left it filtering for 1 more hour, then I backwashed . Once I backwash, I vacuum then added 1 gallon of chlorine, and it cleared it more. I have a sand filter, but instead of using sand. I'm using the blue filter balls . Oh, I added 2 erasers as well, and it works wonderful. I will check the pH levels to balance it if needed. Today has been my first time. Thanks thanks so much . God bless you and your family 🙌✨️🙏🏼🙏🏼
I wanted to say Thank You, my pool was green, went to the pool store to get water tested and see what I needed to do, what they gave me only made it worse😢. I found your video, and tried it, to the point, changing the filter every 2-3 hours and within 2 days my pool was back to a beautiful blue, without draining it…thank you🎉❤
Ok so my sand filter died on me so I had to use the cartridge filter pump and it has been raining for weeks here in Houston so my water got cloudy then turned green in less then 48 hours, I was so upset. I found your video and followed your steps, amazing!!!! It's still a little cloudy but it's getting there, thank you so much!!!!!
@@JM-ds8yu sorry for some reason I just got the notification. So I added arm & hammer baking soda about 2-3 weeks ago. And it did clear up the pool. Of course it threw the ph and chlorine off but I vacuumed it and the water balanced things out. They have big bags at Wal-Mart or home depot .
So glad i found your video. Got back from vacation and my pool was turning green, tried to save if but i had to luck and turned super green. Did everything you said on this video, and this morning my pool looks perfect again 👌 Thank you!!!
Just some advice for you here. I’ve been in the pool business for a while by the way. You don’t need to put powder shock in with liquid chlorine. The liquid will do the job by itself! Just trying to save you some money here
@@macarioaguilar6784 What I find is that commercial bleach products such as clorox and other brands are typically half as potent as the stuff that is likely sold by your local pool store. The liquid chlorine at my store is 12.5% where as most commercial bleach is between 6-8%. As long as the chemical in your bleach is sodium hypochlorite, you could use it. Also, be sure that there are no other added ingredients that might cloud the pool. So yes you could potentially use commercial bleach as long as you’re sure if the ingredients, however, it is not going to be as strong as what the pool store sells.
Doing it right now and our pool is turning from a deep green to a (not clear, but getting there) blue pool using 3 gallons of dollar tree bleach 🙏💪 thank you, from my kids who are having their friends over tomorrow for a pool plunge
Amazing!! I just spent 7 days getting my sisters pool from a winters dark greenish/black to a sparkling blue…seven days compared to 5 hours, I’ll try this next time 🙏🏼😜😂 Thank you
@@anestabrehun7638 Hi hon 🌷 I used about 10 bottles of bleach, brushed the sides and bottom from the outside of the pool (it was a mess- the cover was dry rot and it was green/black and even had a Fox in it…what a NIGHTMARE!! I then vacuumed when I could finally see the bottom on backwash. I then put FLOC in it (FLOCULANT) THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!!! If you’re not familiar with it, if your pool is cloudy there’s usually a LOT of small particles that the vacuum can’t pick up. You put the floc in - best in the evening. Let the filter run for 4 hours on circulate if you can. Turn pump off overnight. A miracle in the morning lol it will drop all of the small particles into the bottom (congeals it together) vacuum that out, backwash again, put filter on rinse if you have that cycle. Then I put about 3 bags of shock. I did have to add some ph stabilizer to up our PH. If you get those test strips to test your water it will show you exactly what you need hon. I hope some of this helps!!! Good luck hon
My pool looks like yours did. I was going to drain, clean, and refill but was unable to find the little part that pushes open the valve on the drain hole and connects to the hose (not sure what it’s called) but a friend of mine brought me two 2.5 gallons of liquid chlorine (I thought that was too much but he insisted that it wasn’t) so I reluctantly poured them in. I added a magic eraser to my filter tank as you suggested and watching the water 😅. Hopefully I’ll get similar results 🤞.
Miss lady, thank you soo very much for this video. I finally got my pool from bright neon green to crystal clear in 24 hours, for the first time without draining it. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I watched other videos and this the one one helped
The Magic Eraser only works on Intex or liner style cartridge filter pools. It will not work with Sand Filters. Also, a cheaper shock, for initial cleaning is to use standard Bleach.
I read somewhere that you should never add the chlorine shock granules straight to an above ground pool because those granules will erode the plastic in time. I always soak it into a bucket of water and then add it into the pool.
You should always, always use the bucket method when pouring any type of powder into your pool. Dump the powder in to a 5 gallon bucket and mix with some of the pool water and then mix into the pool. If that settles on the bottom of your liner, and you do not remove it it will bleach the color out of it.
I have owned a pool for 20 yrs and I have never diluted my powdered shock in a bucket. Simply walk around the pool sprinkling it as you go. I do this and also add it in front of the water inlet. Never had an issue.
What would you of done if next day wasn't clean? New owner here and my pool is green. We saw a litlle green spot yesterday and when woke up in morning it was complete green. Cant believe how fast it turned
Hi there, Any chance you could give an approximate estimate on the size of your pool or at least approx. gallons as well as the output or info on your filter pump? I know our pool is smaller, possibly half the size but we bought a newer pump that works for pools with more water and just want to try and figure out how much chemical to add and time to take during our attempt at cleaning it. If you could post your info, I figured my husband and I could just figure the difference off that. By the way, thank you for making it short and to the point unlike most video "how to's" that are usually posted. Posted on 03.07.21
If your pool is half the size do half of everything she did. Or if your using the exact same products there’s instructions and break downs on the products and you can figure it out from there. Our pool is 20ft around and 4 ft deep we use a LB of shock too.
My pool is 14ft by 32 and I'm confused because it says clearly on the shock that a whole 1 lb bag is for 10,000 gallons....my pool is only 3,300 gallons so I've been adjusting for size but it's not working and when I tried using a whole bag it just made the pool cloudy
@@channonp1 Lol, that's what I was wondering also because I have a 15 foot pool and it's 4 feet deep. The bag of HTH shock i bought says a 1 lb. Bag is for 13,500 gallons. My pool is only about 3,900 gallons say 90 percent filled. I used like a 4th of the bag because I didn't know what would happen if i put too much !
@@channonp1 Is your pool super shallow? My pool is 15x24 and holds 15000 gallons. It's only about 4 feet deep so I'm curious how you only have 3300 gallons in the pool. I'm betting yours is closer to 18000
@@bernieking5408 I think I wrote the wrong measurements. I have a summer waves pool. 14 feet across and 4 ft deep. The box literally reads 14ft by 42 in. 3,300 gallons. I use 1/3 of a bag of shock. After playing around and getting advice from someone who knows about pools a little. I realized if your ph is off even a little bit...it won't matter what you put in there if it's green or whatever it won't work. So once I brought the ph up the tiny bit it needed I shocked and used algacide and walla! The very next day it was blue again. I had to run my pump for like 3 days and continously change the filter but it's perfect now. Just have to remember to keep the chlorine levels normal now.
Please don’t add a magic eraser to your pool. They make something called a scumball for pools that is made for this. A friend of mine in the pool industry actually contacted Arm & Hammer and they said they do not recommend using the magic eraser in this way as there haven’t been tests to see if the melamine foam will break down and cause chemical reactions in treated pool water. Just use the scumball that has been tested instead. Better to be safe than sorry.
When you’re finished using the magic eraser for that cycle, make sure to take it out, ours disintegrated, and got stuck in the filter hose… We had to take off the hose and clean out the magic eraser that was blocking the outtake valve😮
You made it look easy! Im having trouble. Are your levels where they are suppose to be before you added shock? My alkalinity & ph is very high and cya is low. I try adjusting them and by then my pool is green. I need help. Above ground pool intex easy set 15×15×42 round.
Nothing worked this simple for me. First thing I had to start with was balancing pH, alkalinity, and removing metals. Wish it was always this simple. Love the Magic Eraser though!
Don’t use magic eraser in your pool. It contains formaldehyde and sodium bisulfate. The sodium with lower the pH in your pool. And nobody likes formaldehyde.
