Then turn the heater down to low and the lowest warm temp positive. Always have had success during winter time with it! Also thank you for showing the incubator box! Love your videos PGT.
Here's an easy, safe and possibly free option I have used. Works quite well! I'm sure I'm not the only one to come up with it. Just need a cooler and an empty milk jug. Simply put your jars inside the cooler with a milk jug full of warm tap water. I find all you need to do is partially empty the jug of water, empty about 1/3-1/2 the jug, and top off with hot tap water. I do this twice a day, morning and evening. Generally shoot for about 85- 90 degree jug of water for my set up. I''m easily able to maintain temp in the cooler in mid 70s this way. It takes a tiny bit of playing around to dial it in and see what it takes to maintain your temps but it's super easy, works well and no electricity or fire hazard.
A tent with a small heater inside it, combined with an external thermostat for higher precision is the way to go you your house is really cold. Saves me a lot of $.

As far as I know if your within 10 degrees of each other it's workable. I wouldn't say it's good but bad cause it can make moisture control of the substrate tricky
The condensation could be good or bad, depends on if it is causing your humidity to take losses over time. But your ambient room temperature shouldn't heavily affect anything unless the air in the room is moving around a lot.
Hey Pgt quick question in some of your videos you have a metal rack in your still air box that you lay your agar or a scalpel on, etc. What is the exact purpose of this? Thanks for everything you do.

I can make a water chamber up to 6 inches deep to keep the steam bath going for about 6 hours. Is there a length of time limit before the rice is no longer viable as a growth medium? Also if the top of your monotub is nice and moist as well as the walls why does the center feel like a piece of dried out particle board? This is weeks after loading the mono tub. Great video, always appreciate your DIY approach. I just went through a whole process of upgrading my shed for the winter, where I have my gourmet tent set up. I insulated everything, and upgraded the gauge of my extension to be able to run a small oil heater on a low setting. Thank you for your content! I don't think your heating mat is a fire hazard, I think I have the same one, 18 watts, very little for the surface area. I have a 40w one that definitely can become a fire hazard when folded or insulated. I'll touch several spots on any heating mat to check how hot it gets in my setup, mostly the answer is lukewarm. Otherwise a cheap pwm dimmer will reduce heat output. Anyway, I'd even put these buckets on sheets of styrofoam to insulate from below.
thank you for the great videos! i’ve recently started my interest in Mycology and I got a grow kit for a christmas gift. after these blue oysters fruit and are harvested, I look forward to using your videos to continue growing 🤝 thanks for the knowledge!
I’m not sure your supposed to submerge that cord in water Not positive on that one, but I know I had one that said “no not submerge cord…. You could fix the totes together or weigh down the inside tote with something keeping space at the bottom Fill to the top and stick the heater to the side instead of the bottom maybe
I'm trying an incubator setup with a heat mat for my agar in a cooler, very similar to your first set up but with a cooler and a rack. I'm getting condensation still and I assume it's from the heat coming off the heat mat creating a larger temp differential. Any advice? Should I cover the heat mat with the towel to make the heating up...more uniform/less drastic of a temp change?

I was on the verge of losing everything bc my depression was so crippling I wasn't functional. So know you help ppl who are doing this for metal health reasons as well as a hobby!
What about fruiting chamber? How low of a temp will fruits thrive. My situation is flipped it's hot all the time and humid so ac has to be run constantly. I use tub in tub with jars it seems to do alright but moving to mono tub . My concern is I can't keep temps high enough for fruiting

Hope you have a good harvest! Thank you for being a part of this journey! 😁
Awesome video! I've been using a 5-gallon water drum that I fill with hot water from my utility sink. Great to see other methods (:
I’m not sure your supposed to submerge that cord in water
Not positive on that one, but I know I had one that said “no not submerge cord…. You could fix the totes together or weigh down the inside tote with something keeping space at the bottom
Fill to the top and stick the heater to the side instead of the bottom maybe
If you were to use yeast, would you put it in the pressure canner or add it to the fruit chamber later on?
Do you have a preferred humidity for colonization and incubation?
Thanks again love your videos
I appreciate the kind words, I couldn't do this without the community!
Thank you for all the info sir!
Thank you! 😄
Philly, I love mycology and you have been the best sensei during my journey through my main hobby. I have watched you for two years. Thanks for everything you have done for the community and all the apprentices
That's amazing. Mycology is truly a passion and fascinating. I'm glad you have found love for it and your journey has been well. I thank all of you for being here and a part of this journey together! I wouldn't be able to do this without this wonderful community here! 🙏🍄
Where did you get those shelves Philly!! The 2 you put above the heat mat
You are one of my fav content creators for this. Thank you for always helping me find cheap solutions to issues with my grow setups. You’re the best!
I'm glad the videos are helpful! Thank you so much for the kind words! 🙏
Do you have a video of basic materials that is needed for a basic setup?
This is what I have so far. My spore syringes come In today so trying to start today.
Gloves, 70% alcohol, clear totes, small clear cups, Mason jars wide mouth, organic brown rice, coco coir, vermiculite, spray bottles, disinfect spray , corn syrup, needle/syringes , heating pad temp control
And thank you for all u do. I'm starting this for myself bc I was buying so I could micro dise for my depression and anxiety. Out of allllllllllll the medications I've taken over the years mushrooms are the only thing that has actually helped. I was on the verge of losing everything bc my depression was so crippling I wasn't functional. So know you help ppl who are doing this for metal health reasons as well as a hobby!
I love your channel (making my first agar this week!!) can you explain why we don’t want to fruit in an incubator?
You can fruit in an incubator but you'll get more condensation. Just make sure it doesn't oversaturate the substrate
Hello how are you 😌 please can you make a video making a DIY flowhood !!! 🍄❤
Question.... if I take GT and albino A+ that I grew In liquid culture and combined a little of each in my grain would that create a new strain?
Can you please advise with what can I replace isopropyl alcohol while sanitizing? I can’t find it here anywhere locally
How many 3 pound Grain bags do you think you could fit in a 66qt tub with the heating pad method?
What about fruiting chamber? How low of a temp will fruits thrive. My situation is flipped it's hot all the time and humid so ac has to be run constantly. I use tub in tub with jars it seems to do alright but moving to mono tub . My concern is I can't keep temps high enough for fruiting
love you pgt
😄🍄❤️
What grain mix did our boy PGT use there?
Love your videos :3
🙏🍄
I’ve got the same air purifier, works a dream and good price hey
That's great. I hope it treats you well!
Why not fruit in the incubation box?
Smaller yield
